  • Tonjiru 豚汁 is a hearty Japanese soup made primarily with pork and vegetables. This Japanese style ABC soup typically contains thinly sliced pork belly or pork shoulder, along with ingredients like daikon radish, carrots, and potatoes. The soup is flavoured with white miso paste, giving it a rich and savoury taste. Tonjiru is often enjoyed as a comforting and nourishing meal, especially during colder months, and it's commonly served alongside steamed rice. Try cooking it at home and let us know what you think. Happy cooking!

    Hi, thanks for introducing this soup:) i would like to clarify the referral of "gobo" (see 4:07) as huai shan. To my knowledge, gobo is actually another plant, also known as burdock or niu2 bang4(牛蒡), and is brownish in colour. The japanese name for huai shan is nagaimo. 😊

    • @sysiau2010
      @sysiau2010 Місяць тому

      Burdock after peeled is white in color. I believe Roland did say 'gobo' is known as burdock...hope I didn't hear wrong. This soup looks delicious that I am going to try real son...

      Yup, gobo = burdock, waishan = nagaimo = mountain yam.
      Very different flavour and texture. From what he showed in the video, it looks more like nagaimo.
