@@danielcooper3868 My money management has dramatically improved in the last 8ish months. I finally got a good job that pays quite well, but moreover getting a good job where I'm respected and can serve my community has really improved my mental health.
It'll be about 5 months before I'm debt free, and the couple black blotches on my credit will be gone by the end of the year.
Although not great, (and Canadian) my credit has gone from 530->610 in just the last year.
If I stay on track I'll be entirely debt free (other than a mortgage that's principal only by this point) and have my credit in the 700s by January 2025.

Little more nuance than that for insurance. I’m sorry you guys didn’t get the cover you thought you were and that you lost family young!
When you open insurance you need to understand what you’re covered for and all the exceptions. Most life insurance from the last 40yrs doesn’t include kids to be claimed on, you could take a policy out for a 2yo but the child needed to be over 18 and passed the waiting period before they die in order to be claimed on. Life insurance can be incredibly helpful but you have to read all the fine print. Insurance is a gamble, you do not know how or when you will die. You’re paying for a service, *if* something happened to you within the specific parameters of your policy you will be paid out, if not, no pay. It’s a *what if* service and if you’re not in a position to handle that risk, invest, use a high internet savings etc. there’s other options. Again apologies for you loss, I hope this doesn’t come across as blaming your family. I work in insurance and it’s devastating seeing people contact us having no clue what they have been paying for.

A lot of people who have success online tend to use their platform to spout their opinions on everything. They become so absorbed in their own hype and experts in their own minds that they don't even consider the harm they may be causing to anyone who may be struggling with these various issues and follow their word as gospel.
It shows humility to clearly acknowledge that you don't truly understand what they are dealing with. You show you care and are supportive and encourage them to keep trying but you always make it very clear that you are not in a place to guide them.

I live in the exurbs of Atlanta (much like Alpharetta/Cumming, just in a different part) and $310 for gas is honestly not that bad for Atlanta. I only drive to work once or twice a month and it's still close to $80 a month for my gas because of how far everything is from everything else in the metro. If he's driving in to work every day from Alpharetta, that's what I'd expect. However, if he's going from Alpharetta into downtown/somewhere else inside of I-285 ("ITP", he'll know what it means), MARTA (the transit system) is actually really effective and costs about $2-3 per ride from North Springs Station if he parks at their free parking, and he can get it even cheaper by buying a 30 day pass or similar multi-day pass. The rough part is the traffic to get to the station (which, again, has a free parking deck), but if he has a park and ride near him, he can let the bus driver deal with that. I lived near Alpharetta for about a year and got to/from work daily on MARTA.
