Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time UA-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. I bought this palette. It's beautiful but it's a bloody mess of fallout and kickback!!!! Over 2 different primers and trying wetting my brushes with setting spray, the shadows literally fall off my lids. Even Subculture isn't this bad. If someone figures out how to glue these to their lids, please tell me what sorcery you used.
I had the same experience and I'm glad I'm not alone! So many people love this palette and I'm confused! I also didn't have this much trouble with Subculture. 🤔
@@JenPhelps My guess is that they don't want to get removed from a PR list. I recreated a look done by another UA-camr and also used the same type of brushes as she did. She claimed there's no fallout. No bloody way she told the truth.
@@JenPhelps OK, I finally figured out how to work with this palette! I had to use the Pat McGrath magic wand stick on my lids and use my finger to apply the shadows right over it. I can use a brush to blend at that point but not to apply the shadows. It's the only way I've found to avoid fallout and kickback and get the colours to pop. Over that PMG base with no other primer, they blend like a dream and they last through a 12-hr shift. Normally I wouldn't try so hard to get a palette to work, but it's so beautiful that I didn't want to give up.

I like the look of the Rome palette. It really reminds me of Rome specifically the traditional villas and their gardens and old architecture. To me the colours in Rome had this warm but faded, muted and sun bleached feel

I agree on the ABH palette. It's sooo dusty and tons of fallout. I returned mine.
Hey guys! Just a quick note about the ABH palette...I've gotten quite a few comments saying that ABH has a soft formula and I wanted to clarify that this is beyond the typical soft formula of their palettes. I have almost every palette they've made and this feels and performs different for me. Maybe I got a dud, I'm not sure!
Thank you for the update I’m so disappointed I really wanted to get this palette I’m not sure if it is because of the color story or it is because I really love the green packaging green is everything to me buti think the whole thing attracted me even though I mostly use nude or brown eye shadows , when you said that the micro glitters go into your eyes I don’t think I will get it because I wear contact lenses and that’s a no for me plus I’m photosensitive so my eyes hurts even easier , that sucks i really liked the whole thing.
You didn't get a dud. I own it. This palette is a mess!
I don't have problems with my ABH palette! Maybe you got a bad batch.
Thanks for the update, I was all set to buy the ABH palette but now I might get the Whats up Beauty instead. If your going to spend the money, I might as well put mine on the new brand with pretty, shift shades. Thanks again!
The ABH Nouveau palette immediately made me think of the Sydney Grace singles from their Army/military themed collection, & I’m so surprised that no one has talked about that & compared the greens in the palette to those Sydney Grace singles. I feel like somebody could easily make a dupe the vibes palette with Sydney Grace singles, & I’d love to see that. I’d also love to see Sydney Grace dupes of other ABH palettes, especially Soft Glam & Norvina & other popular palettes like the Too Faced Natural Nudes & Sunset Stripped Palettes, etc.
I bet I could definitely make a dupe palette with Sydney Grace!
I made a dupe palette with mostly Sydney Grace! They don't have the lavender shade and I don't have all the colors personally, but you can DEFINITELY get a similar look with SG.
Those "What's Up Beauty" palettes look beautiful. I never heard of the brand. They're a little pricey to test out, but I'm definitely tempted.
When you mentioned that about reviews of Anastasia Beverly Hills palette review - I find people get on a band wagon often with things and just love it because it's "popular" or it's just dependent on what mood they're in when they leave a review lol.

Jen I am in agreement with you about the Nouveau palette. I watched several glowing reviews before purchasing and when I got it home and started to use it I also noticed that there was a lot of fallout, more than usual and I had trouble with my looks that I tried to create. But I thought it was just me or maybe something I was doing wrong. I think I just didn't want to admit to myself that I spent $55 on a palette that I'm having some difficulty using. I WANT to love it but it's just ok and I think that might be how some of the influencers feel. They might have gotten it in PR or feel like they spent so much money on it they should like it more. Now that I watch your review it confirms how I was feeling but didn't want to see it.

I watched another UA-camr review on the ABH palette and the Sephora website indicates that shades Wisteria, Paloma and Metro are not for use hear eyes. And it further mentions those colors are for use on the face and body. This may be why they do not perform well as eyeshadows. It is a pass for me. Thanks for your review Jen!
Yes they are pressed pigments, not eyeshadows. They are approved in Europe to use around the eyes but the US always takes longer to approve ingredients.
I must admit the ABH Nouveau palette definitely caught my eye, but I just can't spend that kind of money on an eyeshadow palette. Hopefully there will be an affordable dupe coming in the next few months from another company, like Colourpop or Alter Ego. I'm sure you'll let us know.

Hey Jen! Love your Sunday presentations, and this one today really gives us a lot to consider! I guess some would say the ABH Nouveau palette is the star, but I've seen it demonstrated by a few other UA-camrs, and since you're honest enough to tell us of the fallout, my answer is "meh." I'm pretty sure I have all those colors in some other palettes, and I'm still having fun four or five days a week with the newest Nabla kit you recommended. I'm still not tired of it, but those What's Up palettes look like they might belong with me if I'm ready to spend more than usual. For all the other products, I certainly will defer to your superior knowledge and the visuals of your perfected swatch techniques. Those Moira eye enhancers/brow highlighters look like the bomb(!), especially the lightest pink one. I could use it under my eyes when the cheap mascaras I use inevitably flake and smear a bit by the end of a long hot day working outdoors. Or I could just wash my face, but I really want a reason to use that light pink crayon... Thumbs up 👍🥳 for another video I'll be rewatching another time or two! And thanks for giving us a happy main course on a summer Sunday!

Save your money unless you like wearing shadow on your face instead of your eyes. I have abour 400 palettes and NONE of them are this bad a shitshow.
Use a very soft brush e.g. squirrel and you will not have a powder on the face problem…you also have to barely touch the brush into the colour and you have enough to work with…
Moira for the win🙌 I was absolutely devoted to the Beauty Pie Uberlucent finishing powder since they started but I'm at pan and now they're not offering it in the US storefront 😩(I confirmed via email) The Moira powder sounds just like the Uberlucent, DEFINITELY ordering it very soon. Thanks Jen🙏💕

If you figure out how to get the shadows to stick to your lids instead of your face, please tell us. I tried 2 primers and wetting my brushes with setting spray.
I love the Moira lip gloss, so pretty.
I have the nouveau and am a pale natural redhead. I have found you need to use a very soft brush like squirrel hair and then the colours don’t powder up badly and also the colour wisteria can be really bold. It is a magnificent palette to use, everything blends and mixes beautifully…

I had seen the powder and I was tempted to get it but I needeit to watch a reliable review first! I have oily skin but my under eye is dry and mature, so I think it will work well for that area! I love their day dissolve cleansing balm! So much more of a bang for your buck than other cleansing balms. It cleans the skin of makeup so nicely.
I have the Geode palette and I love it!! I thought about grabbing the Monsoon but I’m like you, Geode is more my color story.

The eyebrow pencil reminds me of the dual sided (linen pink and a shimmer gold) by Benefit. I love putting it under my eyebrow. It leans it up and adds a pop for my hooded eyes.
Hi Jen, another great video!! To comment on some of the products you mentioned, ILNP nail polish is great, I have a decent collection of them and have never been disappointed with any of them. ABH Nouveau looks very pretty but I found I have a lot of those shades already and with the hefty pricetags, i'll refrain from purchasing it now. I have ventured over to some more of the Indie brands and purchased my first Sydney Grace palette and can't wait to try it! I got the Quintessential (light) palette. Unique colors and shimmers. Thanks for the reviews!!
I have the Profusion blushes, and really love them! Try applying them with a dampened beauty sponge. I get a good amount of pigment that way from both colors.

I grabbed the profusion blushes when they first came out and I think they’ll be more useful on paler, dried winter skin because yes, they are sheer 😭

I think you’ve convinced me to try the Moira powder - I’m like you, powder always makes my skin look so dry and cakey and old, but your before-and-after photo is impressive! And for $15, even!

I've been obsessed with the Profusion Blush Hour liquid blushes, not that interested in powder blushes atm. Can't wait to get ahold of the new ELF blushes, too!

I wanted to share what I learned about the ABH's new eye palette - another youtuber was using it for a tutorial and thought the colors were pretty; however, she later learned that 3 of the colors (cannot recall which ones) are NOT recommended to use on the eyes! She shared this with her viewers and obviously, many of us wrote comments such as why buy it when the price is so high and you can't use three of them!
That Moira powder looks a the colors in the very high end Givenchy loose powder that so many youtubers use. I am definitely going to give this a go, along with those lip glosses. (They almost look like lip oils. So beautiful!!

Thanks for the great video Jen! I actually love the new ABH palette. The colors are so pretty and although the formula is powdery, I think it preforms like her other palettes and if you use it carefully and tap off the excess before applying the shadow, it works perfectly. Beautiful palette!

Jenncame back to say thank you, I LOVE the essence primer! I checked my Elf one (I think it started breaking me out). Your advice to wait before foundation is spot on. It feels nice and looks nice and plays well with different foundation.😊
Those What’s up palettes look beautiful! I really loved the ABH colors but it doesn’t sound like the palette is worth the price. I definitely need to try the FAB spf!!
