Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time UA-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. I love those Essence blushes. I was so surprised at the high quality compared to the low price.
That ABH cosmos palette had so much potential but fell so short. Terra moons, Devinah and Cliondah are the ways to go for duo/multichromes
I was just going to comment this. I mean cosmos themed. Who knows what’s been going on over there. You don’t hear much from them and then a series of palettes then nothing again.
AGAIN...Thank you for mentioning scents in these products. I've bought a few products, in the past, that you recommended, because they had no fragrance. On the other hand you've saved me money by not buying products that you said have a scent. I don't want to be sick with a headache. Thank you again. Not many You Tubers mention fragrance/scent/taste.
I hate the Laneige lip masks. They dry my lips out worse! My go to will always be the too faced pillow balms! 🙌🏻

If you like the Cover Girl soft mink you would also like Rose Silk. Everything you like about mink, but a beautiful rosey pink.

As for the mauvey blushes, it's laughable what gets called cool-toned. Those shades were waaarrmm brown 😄 I can't say I'm surprised though, it's very much par for the course. Thanks so much for the recommendations, I'm always amazed by what an eye you have for similar products ❤😊
Another one who is tired of super warm tones in palettes, they just don't look good on me. Probably why I have really cut down on buying palettes and just buy SG singles. This way I can get the colors I want and build my own mini palettes. I am not drawn to ABH anyway so I will save regardless. Good video!
THANK YOU for being honest about the Cosmos palette. I was so convinced I needed it and your review has sat me down. You were more real in explaining there are better palettes out there.
Jen can you try some makeup from the Body Shop? They have tints like the Moira/ Danessa Myricks ones as well as pencils that are very soft and can be used on eyes, lips, face. I am getting another one of their pencils. I was impressed. And they aren't made in China but Brazil, I think and they have quite a few colours and you get more g/stick for the money; they are cheaper than the Make Up For Ever & Kosas ones (I think they are Kosas---Edit: they are Tower 28 not Kosas). I am definitely going to a Mall, to an actual store to try out more colours and to buy more. Unfortunately, there aren't too many stores around, anymore. 🙄
I used to LOVE the Body Shop and was so sad when they closed the store near me. But sadly I also recently found out that they are an MLM company (they have a branch called The Body Shop at Home where people can sell it to friends/family). And I disagree with MLM's because they can be very predatory toward women who are in a bad financial situation. So that's why I stopped talking about them on my channel. Last time I did, I got a ton of negative comments letting me know that they're an MLM (I had no idea before!).
I bought the ABH palette. I almost always wait for you to review but Allie Glines sold me on it. I dropped it and one shade shattered. I contacted them for advice to repair possibly and was honest that it was my fault. They’re sending a new one which is amazing. Unfortunately I tried it today and was extremely disappointed in the formula especially the wear time. Lesson learned always wait for Jen to review. I don’t know what I was thinking.

Unfortunately Allie Glines’s video was sponsored by ABH, so she was paid a lot to sell their palette. She definitely sold it for them, but it’s unfortunate because her audience thought they were getting a quality palette.
Allie Glines never makes a 'negative' video, which means that she likes everything she tries on camera. So you really should not use her videos if you're planning on buying something
For what ABH is charging for the palette, the texture and wear time should be better. It's not a drugstore product. Well, even a reliable brand stumbles sometimes.
@@jo4vt I agree. I knew it was sponsored and I know in general she likes everything. Her videos aren’t what I consider reviews. The reason I bought it was because it looked so great on her eyes. I should’ve known better though because their shadows are so soft and have fallout. I haven’t bought any of their pallets in years. From now on I’m waiting for Jen to review.

That Laneige lip balm DOES feel like an oil after a bit! that's a great description, and I also hate it after it does that. The first 10 minutes is great, but after that, the balm goes all over my mouth because it gets so runny. Can't wait to get the elf one!
Yes!! Runny is the perfect description, haha!
Lip mask for me is tatcha. It is a thicker jelly feel but you need very littlle snd feels wonderful on the lips. Has healed them
I love that you give prices, but it would also help if you give volumes. For example, the NARS Afterglow is .05 oz (that's why it's slimmer) and the Kosas Wet Stick is .1 oz. So you get DOUBLE the amount with Kosas. With the 20% off, you get the same amount from Kosas for $20.20 as would cost you $64 from NARS. That's a huge difference!

Those Nars and Kosas lip balms look a lot like the new Hard Candy pout something or other that I just got at Walmart! I’m sure you’ll grab a shade or 2 if you see them at your local Walmart. I really enjoy the formula, and am going to go back for the other shades. I wonder how they compare?!

I was so sad 😢 when my makeup geek shadows (shimmers) all came out of the pans and shattered after dropping it onto my rug in the parlor. Super fragile. I really loved the colors. Oh, well.
I learned about that soft mink blush in one of your other videos where your viewers listed their favorites. I bought it at the grocery store and I love it!
Jen you might like Maybelline fit me blush in mauve. It's not glowy but you could always add some highlighter and blush on the same brush.
I have that color and it's beautiful!
I never really loved the Laneige lip mask. It was just ok. I LOVE the Wet N Wild Lavender Lip Mask, and the Vaseline Pink Bubby balm in the round tin.
It isn't occlusive enough for me. If I apply it when I go to bed, I wake in the night with my lips dry and I have to either reapply or apply Vaseline or CeraVe Ointment or something with Petrolatum or Mineral Oil. Petrolatum and mineral oil are the most occlusive and prevent 99.99% of Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL).
I bought the Laneige sleep mask for lips a while back, based on a beauty YTer's rave recommendations. Prior to that, I'd always just used either Vaseline petroleum jelly or Carmex. Sometimes both together. At any rate, they worked just fine and they weren't expensive. But I won't buy Laneige again just based on how poorly the lip mask worked

@@johannaholmgren8088 That Vaseline Rosy Lips, is it? In the small plastic tub? that stuff is the other best one I've ever tried, in addition to the two I mentioned above. Vaseline just wins.

I get so excited when I see "new" that I don't take the time to really look at something and see if it truly fills a void in my collection. Jen, something random: have you ever tried the About-face Cherry Pick lip butter?I got one to try and the formula (and clicking packaging) is pretty similar to the tarte maracuja lip balms. I was excited!
Yes I have a few of the About Face ones. I think the texture is pretty close but they're way more pigmented than the Tarte ones, almost like a lipstick! At least the colors I got. 🥰
My Cosmos palette came with the same color broken. I was so mad! Thank you for the video. 😊
Regarding the Kosas sunscreen versus the Neutrogena sunscreen. For reference I have combo to oily skin, with a fair skintone with olive undertone. The Kosas sunscreen was ok… but I noticed tiny shimmers, in direct lighting, indoors as well as outdoor. And that shimmer was still noticeable, if I wore a light coverage base product or powder over it. The Neutrogena sunscreen doesn’t have that shimmer. Having said that… both of these work well with my combo oily skin, if I use a light layer of powder foundation or a light coverage setting powder.

Love the Cosmos palette so much and I am very fussy about shades! LoL Light eyes and skin and medium brown hair and all the Cosmos shades are soo wearable.

Any product that says hydrating just turns in to a big oil slick on me. Especially any kind of sunscreen. I can’t imagine putting sunscreen UNDER any foundation. And no, I do not have oily skin. With that being said I just LOVE those NARS balms 😍

really excited about the lipsticks! my favorite lipstick of all time was a discontinued too faced one that was pretty shear but just gorgeous and amazing packaging and i haven’t been able to find anything like it in about 6 years so i really hope the nars or the kosas have a similar feel and shade 🥺

You are quite lovely and this isn’t meant to be a criticism but your background is distracting from your lovely face. I think you shouldn’t have to compete with what’s in our view. When we went to Sephora to swatch the Gxve bronzer/contour they didn't have the lightest shade out, and the medium was too warm. I need to go back and try this shade! The formula felt so nice.

I’ll have to try the Lottie London one after my Laneige is gone. I found the Farmacy apple balm and I love it for the morning, but I want something a bit thicker for nighttime.

I thought my ABH cosmos was gorgeous the mattes blended seemlessly in no time. And the shimmers stayed on all day. There was fall out with shimmers but I dont' mind that. OMG her mattes are almost natasha denona quality sorry you got a dud I was very hesitatnt to purchase because I am not a shimmery all day kind of girl but this palette was stunning in my opinion.

I am tired of browns in every single palette,so tired of it.
I avoid buying most palettes because of the browns. My eyelids have a brownish tint so, nope. I looove bright colours
I feel the same about pink/mauve/rosy shades. Every.single.palette of 2022. I didn't think it would ever end and they all looked exactly the same to me 😖
I love browns on my blue eyes; they're my best colors. (Gray makes me look tired, and I prefer not to wear pastels, except soft peach.) But that's not true for everybody! I envy those with brown eyes; you have more options.
@@gategirl66 Sometimes you just have to wait while a trend runs its course. For awhile in the 90s, brown lipstick was the big thing. Definitely not a color I can wear, bur fortunately other colors were still available.
Me too. I have never really cared for browns, pastels, or vivids like purple. I prefer silvers, grays, black for liners. And I do like peach. I like a shadow that goes on like butter, I used it years ago, I can’t remember the brand. Black case of quads and was like silk.
You looks so fresh and radiant Jen! There are SO many nice glitters in all these palettes but how do you deal with the fallout? I can't find the Nyx glitter primer anywhere... I feel like my palettes are 30-40% useless because of it :( Any remedies?
NYX Glitter Primer is at Ulta and I think Amazon has it too! I don't see it in any other drugstores for some reason...so weird. It's the only thing that works for me!
I'd also like to add --- skip the Tarte Maracuja blush in Big Ego and go for MOIRA I Miss you (your recommendation too) Similar shades and an improved formula IMO.
I've found that the Big Ego blush isn't quite the same as I Miss You because it's more of a brighter shade, especially once that PH reaction kicks in. For me, I Miss You is like the cream version of that Dior Rosy Glow Blush everyone loves...it's softer and so gorgeous! 🥰

On ABH one huge pro that USA influencers miss is how widely available it is on the international market. 2 of the 3 palettes you compared to are not available from a retailer here and my Huda Beauty palette has gone strange (I even bought it a year later then release and have never seen others go like that handled in the same way). Indi brand duochromes are nice but the shipping internationally can be more expensive then a lot of palettes then you have the product costs. I tend to like the ABH formula and I love my ABH palettes more than Huda any day so I’m going to give it a go.

I saw a teaser of the baby blue cover of the new ABH palette amd got really excited. Then i saw the palette itself.....😮 Does anyone else feel like this color story is very disjointed?
Yes, and I'm sure I have all these colors. Maybe across three or four palettes, but they're all there!
YES! The warm mattes and cooler shimmers just don't go together.
Yes, but I'm not sure I would have realized it if Jen hadn't pointed it out. I don't buy palettes much because I don't feel they're a good value for me.

The ABH pallet mattes are a lot like the mattes in the ABH Rose Metals pallet. Which I adore and cannot seem to get rid of it!

Oh, how I wish we had this Essence blush line in my country. We have Essence stands, but not all lines or collections come our way. Sadly we don't have these blushes and considering that this colour is my preferred shade it's quite a shame😭

The texture of this bronzer feels creamy and applies nicely on the skin 🥰 I haven't had a chance to try the Neutrogena tinted sunscreen, I would like to try it when it is available . I have been using the All Good Tinted mineral sunscreen SPF 30. This product is lightweight gives the skin a nice matte finish like a foundation 🙂 This product is made in the USA too.
