You did a great job at breaking down and explaining the impact of how the parents are/can be and why it is necessary to set boundaries

Yes. Please talk about when we get the resistance/rage after setting a boundary. Do they know they are trying to control us? Why do they feel so entitled? I tried to set a boundary with my mother regarding pictures of me on her Facebook. She lied, raged and belittled me with venom in her voice. She’s never apologized but has invited me to family gatherings as if nothing has happened. I’ve declined her invitations and went no contact. Thank you for this content.

I have only just found your channel.Thankyou for putting things in such a clear and precise way. I still struggle each and everyday and have so many overpowering negative emotions because of my Narcassistic Mother. Believe it or not she is almost 96 and I’m 65. I am the only child left to be responsible for her and it wears me down because I always have to have my defence barrier up with anything to do with her. It’s so tiring and soul destroying 😢

"When your parent comes to visit unannounced ..."
I learned to keep my door locked at all times *sighs*
It was my experience that my parental narcissist was incapable of accepting boundaries for good. It would sometimes stick for a little bit, but within weeks we'd be back to their preferred ways.
In the end, I walked away. Completely - no communication of any sort, no interaction. It hurt the first several years; about a decade later, I'm glad I made this choice.
I'm healing, I'm learning and I'm growing. It feels like I was drowning (being drowned?) for most of my life and finally learned to swim.
And I'm finding answers from the kind people who give their time and expertise freely. Thank you, Rebecca!

Boundaries are not controlling others, but controlling your actions and reactions to the boundaries set.

@@Greenawareness188 yeah I’ve learned that it’s ok if ppl want to be bullies and narcissists, and I won’t change them even with my “boundaries”. The only control I have is how I will choose and define how I act and react and what I will not tolerate. A lot of narcs will change temporarily if we give them conditions. This is how they perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

I am reeling after a session with my daughter, not quite able to tell who did what to whom, and your videos are very helpful in seeing what to do or not to do next💖
