At 16:20 the refresh rate of the onboard display is low. This is due to a new setting in MSFS2020 that came with last patch. If you want it to refresh more frequently sop it is smoother go to General Options, Visual, Glass cockpit refresh rate. Change from Medium to High. It has a small FPS penalty, but it inproves your control substantially.

Caravan's run the risk of being over taken by pretty much anything with wings, including aging seagulls. As a result, time compression for aircraft with that sort of performance might be permitted, but a busy controller will be slightly less enthusiastic about a 400kt+ airplane doing it.

Great Vid!!! I very much agree with your statements about Simulators and Flight Training. I fell in love with Aviation at a very young age as I flew on Airliners on average 10-20 times per year starting at age 8. I was in love with the feeling of being pushed back in your seat by the Jet Engines during Takeoff and when everyone else on board was freaking out in heavy Turbulence I was looking out the window in excitement watching the wing-flex as we bounced all over the place. I started using flight Simulators when Microsoft Flight Sim 1996 came out, I was 10 years old at the time. On my 18th Birthday my family all pitched in and got me 10 Flight Lessons at a Flight School near where I live in Montana. My Instructor said I was a natural, on my third lesson, I went from Cold & Dark to Takeoff, flying a pattern and landing without my Instructor having to touch the yoke or rudder pedals at all, he did help with the throttle once during my landing approach but that was it. I do credit all the time spent with Simulators with a good bit of how well I performed so early on. Nothing can replicate the exact resistance you get from the yoke under different conditions in real life flight or being able to trim by feeling, but what I knew about Aerodynamics and what an Aircraft will (Generally) do given your inputs to the yoke, peddles and throttle going into my first lesson helped for sure! But you will never know how your instincts play a role in flight, nor will you get to experience the feeling of a Power-Off Stall and much much more in a Simulator. That said, I would likely not hold my PPL with multiple endorsements nor be able to wake up any morning (if I'm not working) and take out my own Cessna-182 TRG!, were it not for Flight Simulators solidifying my love of Aviation!!! Again, thank you so much for making the videos you do!! I think it is so important to get people, especially younger generations interested in aviation!

I'm really enjoying your tutorials Emilie. Why they're not the greatest noob friendly FS2020 tutorials, these are great for people like me who know a bit more about what I'm doing/what you're saying when you go through stuff... A while back I've picked up a set of Gleim Text books for PP and IR ratings and have been reading them to teach myself until I'm able to someday afford formal training.

Thanks Emilie. First time watching your videos. Learnt more about ILS and vectoring in one video tutorial than another videos I’ve watched. I love your explanatory technique. So easy to understand. Please keep the tutorials coming. I use VATSIM ( VATPAC) but am still very much learning ATC procedures. It is a different language. Sorry to hear about your lay-off. Totally sucks! Watching from Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺

She handles everything so gracefully while I, instead, would be a nervous wreck especially with ATC communications. That environment can be quite overwhelming and fast-paced, but she just does it so naturally and in a peaceful & calm way.

Good overview Emily! I have thought about joining Pilots Edge for a long time :-) Now, with MSFS2020 I may just do it. Thanks for this. Would love to see more videos like this one, showing the Pilots Edge network. There are not many videos currently out there like that, certainly not to this depth and quality. I am not a pilot, but really love this stuff.

Such a great channel you have. Really enjoying seeing you learn about flight simming (something I’ve been doing for 30+ years) whilst being amazing at teaching us all real world procedures . My tip to you: Currently a lot of the G1000 is buggy or broken, so learn how the MSFS G1000 works rather than real G1000. Currently, they are not the same.

I fly a cub from the hayfield behind my barn, all of which is amazingly well modeled in this sim. Still, it is fascinating seeing this even if I have very little idea what's going on (and ya know, when ya get to be an old guy my age, it really doesn't bother you anymore when someone a whole lot younger and prettier than me knows a whole lot more about flying).

12:15 - "I notice that taxiing from this perspective is a little bit easier for me, so we're gonna do that"
5 seconds later.. "Haha just kidding!"
Jokes aside, another great and informative video. I love seeing how real pilots play this simulator and hearing their inputs on it, seeing just how realistic it is if they are able to do at least most of the things they usually do during a real life flight, while also noticing how they may do certain things a bit different than sim pilots :)

This is great stuff Emilie and one of the things I love about it is that crossover between what is modelled in the Sim and what is left out - we're effectively getting sneaky real-world IFR training via the sim, not just 'how do you play this game'. Which is excellent!
And like she said, this kind of content takes forever to produce once, let alone twice, so don't just subscribe - come join us on her Patreon!

I'm really enjoying your videos. I've been a flight simulator enthusiast since I was a kid playing Flight Simulator on my Commodore 64. I'm excited to try FS 2020 when I have more time. I'm still trying to learn Il-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad. Your cat Ninja is very cute and charming. I have two cats myself, and they're great company. The sassy orange tabby is named Rustin, and the venerable white and orange spotted one is named Cheeky. In real life, I'm an ER physician, but I'm taking a break to finish my novel and do freelance illustration. I draw pen and ink, pencil, and watercolours. I do wedding portraits, medical, and character illustration. Keep up the good work!
