How to make Sweet Soy Sauce (Quicker Version)

  • Make sweet soy sauce in less than 15 minutes. This is a quicker-to-cook version with more spices added. This sweet & salty sauce is good for dipping dim sum, spring rolls & other fried food .
    For those who are unfamiliar with the taste of cinnamon, it may take a little 'getting used to' to appreciate this dipping sauce.

    Ingredients needed:
    1 cup each of Soy Sauce & Brown Sugar
    1 1/3 cups Water
    1/2 tbsp each of Cinnamon Powder, Paprika & Crushed Black Pepper
    NOTE: You can skip the spices EXCEPT cinnamon powder (preferably McCormick) which will give your sauce a nice smoky flavor

    I think this is my 4th time making this dipping sauce tonight for dumplings 🥟.
    But, I was Very Lucky I put much of the sauce away last week. My husband went for take out Chinese and brought my food home of course. I only got to eat it 2 hours later and it was DRY AF !!!! The ABSOLUTE WORST FOOD EVER. But it was after midnight so there was nothing to do but CHOKE IT DOWN. After the 3rd bite, I remembered the sauce I had in the frig from this recipe and it really was a Life Saver. So thx again . Pretty sure I won’t have to refer back anymore Lol, recipe is now imbedded in my head. Try this recipe, especially if you enjoy Sweeter Sauces, you’ll love it 😊

    Pwede po magdagdag ng calamasi para may kasama na syang konting asim?

      Hi Alecks, hindi ko pa nasubukan na lagyan ng calamansi tong sauce na ito, pero pwede sigurong lagyan kung gusto mo na medyo maasim, salamat sa pagdalaw :)

    I will be making you recipe today I would like to cut a piece of ginger and add to the mix while it is cooking. Have you added ginger before? I will let you know the outcome. Oh!?! before I forget I would like to store it in a bottle as you have done but I would like to put the piece of ginger inside the bottle as well with the sweet sauce do you think that is ok? or not? Thank you

      hi @Holy Anarchy never tried putting ginger on sweet soy, I guess it would add some extra flavor & spiciness. I think it's ok to store it inside the bottle :)

      Hi Carl, hindi naman magiging overwhelming yung lasa ng cinnamon, 1/2 tbsp lang yung nasa recipe, saka isa yan sa magpapalasa sa sauce, try mo muna ng 1 teaspoon kung ok na yon sa yo

      hi catherine, I would suggest chili oil o chili flakes ang gamitin mo, at mas masarap pa rin sya kung may cinnamon powder

    Will white sugar do instead of the brown one?

      Hi Sid, yes you can, use less though because white sugar tend to be sweeter than brown sugar, maybe start with 3/4 cup instead of 1 cup, just adjust later

      hello uli, I'll try my best to convert this kung 1L na toyo, 1 1/3 L na water, 4 cups brown sugar, yong sa mga spices mga 2-3 tbsp each , adjust mo na lang timpla while cooking, thanks for dropping by

      Hello Junric, para sa akin importante yung cinnamon powder kahit wala nang paprika at paminta, pero kung wala talaga pwede siguro yang tubig, sugar & soy na lang muna pero syempre hindi kasing sarap ng kung may cinnamon powder sya :)
