This pantry teriyaki sauce recipe is easy to make with readily available pantry items you have at home and it tastes out-of-this-world delicious. It goes well with chicken, beef, pork, salmon, veggies and lots more. This quick and easy at home teriyaki sauce can be used as a marinade, glaze or dipping sauce.
👉📖The Sauce and Gravy Channel “Sauces Made Simply” cookbook will be out in July - I will add a link for you to purchase it once it has been published. Thanks in advance for all of your support!
Check out the written recipe at www.thesauceandgravychannel.com
    Ingredients:
    - 4 Garlic Cloves or roughly 12g
    - 1/2 cup or 100g Brown Sugar - Amazon Link - amzn.to/369rSNY
    - 1 cup or 250ml Low Sodium Soy Sauce (if you don't have low sodium soy you can dilute regular soy with water. Dilute it to your taste or up to 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup soy). Amazon Link - amzn.to/3I0g1Py
    - 2 tbsp or 30ml Rice Vinegar - Amazon Link - amzn.to/3w1LKxu
    - 1/2 tsp or .5g Ground Ginger
    - 2 tsp or 10ml Sesame Oil - Amazon Link - amzn.to/36hg1xv
    - 3 tbsp or 24g Corn Starch
    - 4 tbsp or 60ml Water
    - 1 tbsp or 9g Sesame Seeds
Makes roughly 1.5 cups or 375ml
** The above recipe is for a thick and sticky sauce. For a thinner sauce use less of the cornstarch slurry. Pour a small amount into the sauce- a little at a time- bring to a simmer to check the thickness. Continue this process until you reach the desired thickness.

Made it tonight. Here are my notes.
Do NOT preheat the pan. Had fun with hot brown sugar.
Did not have sesame oil, but a friend said it would be fine and the seeds will work fine.
Tastes great! Super easy and quick. Going to experiment more with it to get it to my families taste perfection.

I doubled the batch this time. I keep it stored in a covered pyrex bowl in the freezer. It doesn't quite freeze all the way, so it's easy to just take a few tablespoons, or however much is needed out of the bowl. I always use it for wings, but this time I marinated chicken breasts overnight and put them on the grill. Turned out amazing!

@@thesauceandgravychannel obviously, I know all the mother sauces, and can do them standing on my head. I still can't believe they actually market powdered Hollandaise, but in a pinch, it works for breakfast.....but I Grumble about it anyway.
I'm all about Homemadecold School stick made from roasted bones......and then rich, succulent gravy.......the Star of Any Dish.
I know a lot of Compound Butters, Seafood Mousses, and classic Continental Saute Pan Sauces......I just don't use them as often as I should. I'm here in Rapt attention👌🤔

That sauce looks delish. Going to try it myself. I have a question, can I still use the sauce to bake my salmon since the sauce is already cooked?

    • @thesauceandgravychannel
      @thesauceandgravychannel  3 роки тому +2

Yes you can glaze your salmon with the sauce and bake it in the oven. You could also cook the salmon and then glaze it as well. Let me know which way you go with and how it turns out. Thanks for watching 👍

Now try it with fresh ginger, and try sautéing that garlic in a touch of oil 1st!
I'm pretty sure you'll like what you get. Also adding the sesame oil towards the end should preserve its essence better, it is considered a finishing/flavor oil.
My only other suggestion would be to simmer/boil the sauce. Not for 1 minute, but 15-20 minutes or more to let the sauce reduce its water content and thicken naturally. This will lead to a much more potently flavored sauce with flavor that hangs on the food and the tounge. Basically using syrup making techniques to render this sauce like you would a syrup to increase its potency.
Feeling crazy? Add an orange! Feeling more crazy? Add some pepper flakes (sparingly unless your me!) I now use habanero flakes I'm so crazy!
Want to try making an awesome tropical syrup for pancakes? Go get some great fruit juice from trader Joe's, or other high quality great fruit juice without preservatives or sweeteners. Pour 1 cup into a pan. Add 1 cup of brown sugar (I prefer demerara sugar, but I'm weird) put your heat to medium, and stir until the boiling bubbles become quite large and the syrup coats the back of a spoon nicely. You'll have to reduce temps as you go as the bubbling gets big in a willy Wonka sort of way! This is my favorite pancake syrup. It's sweet, it's fruity, it has a little bit of tangy, but just enough to say hello.
The process of proper reduction has been one of the biggest wins for me with making sauces. I haven't even used corn starch yet, but I would in certain cases.

    Pro tip
If your dicing up garlic and ginger for the sauce, you should put some oil in the pot and bloom them to release more of their flavors.
And toasted garlic is just 👌

I made this in the last two weeks and it is amazing! My wife and I are gluten-free, so this allows me to make a teriyaki sauce we can finally enjoy.
Of note, I do not use soy sauce, choosing instead to use coconut aminos. The flavor is not as bold, but still tasty.
