Made it tonight. Here are my notes. Do NOT preheat the pan. Had fun with hot brown sugar. Did not have sesame oil, but a friend said it would be fine and the seeds will work fine. Tastes great! Super easy and quick. Going to experiment more with it to get it to my families taste perfection.
I doubled the batch this time. I keep it stored in a covered pyrex bowl in the freezer. It doesn't quite freeze all the way, so it's easy to just take a few tablespoons, or however much is needed out of the bowl. I always use it for wings, but this time I marinated chicken breasts overnight and put them on the grill. Turned out amazing!

Forgot to mention. That last 1/4 of soy sauce. Ad it slowly when in the reduction stage (to taste). This will help you control the salt content better!
Made this recipe as is for chicken and it was really good. 3 tablespoons of cornstarch was too thick for my tastes so I added a 1/2 cup of water to thin it out and it was perfect for me. It comes together really quick so make sure it’s the last thing you make for dinner. Thanks for the easy recipe!

Now try it with fresh ginger, and try sautéing that garlic in a touch of oil 1st! I'm pretty sure you'll like what you get. Also adding the sesame oil towards the end should preserve its essence better, it is considered a finishing/flavor oil. My only other suggestion would be to simmer/boil the sauce. Not for 1 minute, but 15-20 minutes or more to let the sauce reduce its water content and thicken naturally. This will lead to a much more potently flavored sauce with flavor that hangs on the food and the tounge. Basically using syrup making techniques to render this sauce like you would a syrup to increase its potency. Feeling crazy? Add an orange! Feeling more crazy? Add some pepper flakes (sparingly unless your me!) I now use habanero flakes I'm so crazy! Want to try making an awesome tropical syrup for pancakes? Go get some great fruit juice from trader Joe's, or other high quality great fruit juice without preservatives or sweeteners. Pour 1 cup into a pan. Add 1 cup of brown sugar (I prefer demerara sugar, but I'm weird) put your heat to medium, and stir until the boiling bubbles become quite large and the syrup coats the back of a spoon nicely. You'll have to reduce temps as you go as the bubbling gets big in a willy Wonka sort of way! This is my favorite pancake syrup. It's sweet, it's fruity, it has a little bit of tangy, but just enough to say hello. The process of proper reduction has been one of the biggest wins for me with making sauces. I haven't even used corn starch yet, but I would in certain cases.

Yes you can glaze your salmon with the sauce and bake it in the oven. You could also cook the salmon and then glaze it as well. Let me know which way you go with and how it turns out. Thanks for watching 👍
I enjoyed your recipe till the end! I can’t believe it came as a recommendation from UA-cam right now!!! I made this sauce 3 days ago without searching a prior on UA-cam for a recipe 😦 But I am glad I watched it, great job 👏🏼 I do have a question: do you still cook the ingredients before, even if intending to marinate the fish/meat/vegetables and bake them in the oven in the remaining marinade? I do not, but it’s still very tasty. Thank you and many greetings from Germany! 👍🏼😊🍀🌺
This recipe is more of a glaze. So you would use it at the end of cooking or after cooking. It is a little too thick to use this as a marinade. Check out my traditional teriyaki sauce recipe. It would be a good marinade. Thanks for watching
If you used granulated garlic / garlic powder (not garlic salt) you could probably get away with not cooking. it would be fairly thin as the cornstarch slurry is providing the thickening agent. Though cooking in the oven may work; you'd just want to make sure you mix it very well before hand.
@@gregorywallace7614 thank you for returning with such a detailed explanation ! Yesterday I tried the cooked teriyaki variant and uploaded the video this evening. It would be a pleasure to know what you think about it😍🙏🏼 Thank you and best Regards from Germany 😊
I love this recipe TY I made jars of this sauce . I going to use it for chicken satay for a glaze. And for a tempura dip , I’ll use some in my jasmine fried rice too. I’m cooking for the whole family soon. I’m only used to cooking for one. Me lol but I can double this easily.. great sauce.
This sh*t and the best? Where is Mirin? Where is Sake? Next time you can drink soy sauce directly from the bottle and call it "the best teriyaki .." :-)
Thanku for this easy to follow recipe, I made it tonight for my lil fams -over chicken drumsticks & omg it was a hit!!! Appreciate yr work... now to check out all yr other content 😁
I still come back to this recipe, theres many and none compare in ease and taste in my opinion. The only thing I’ll sometimes change is I double it and use the same amount of slurry for a thinner sauce but it’s always the best
very nice content sir, i have a question. can i also use real ginger (sliced) because we dont have ground ginger and a regular vinegar substitute for rice vinegar 😅?
Thank you for watchig 😊sure you can use real ginger. I would mince it nice and fine. If you have apple cider vinegar I would use it. If not regular, vinegar will work. Happy cooking my friend 👍

WOW! From today I will be the teriyaki chicken expert... Love it!

Made this and loved it.
But a quick question do you guys think i could make a good amount and keep it in the fridge?
It typically lasts around a week in the fridge. So I would make as much as you can finish in a week.
Wow this was really good👌🏻👌🏻and I really liked the way you were telling the recipe 😄...so delightful 😊

Terima kasih telah menonton👍
I enjoyed your recipe till the end!
I can’t believe it came as a recommendation from UA-cam right now!!! I made this sauce 3 days ago without searching a prior on UA-cam for a recipe 😦
But I am glad I watched it, great job 👏🏼
I do have a question: do you still cook the ingredients before, even if intending to marinate the fish/meat/vegetables and bake them in the oven in the remaining marinade?
It would be a pleasure to know what you think about it😍🙏🏼
Thank you and best Regards from Germany 😊
@@CookandtravelwithDenisa I just watched it, very nice.
@@gregorywallace7614 thank you so very much!🙏🏼🌺
I love this recipe TY I made jars of this sauce . I going to use it for chicken satay for a glaze. And for a tempura dip , I’ll use some in my jasmine fried rice too. I’m cooking for the whole family soon. I’m only used to cooking for one. Me lol but I can double this easily.. great sauce.
Thank you 😊😊👍👍
This recipe is pretty thick. So it works well as a glaze.
"Get ready, buckle up" (lol). I've been waiting for a teriaki sauce recipe. Thank you.
Thank you for watching. If you make it please share your experience and how it turns out😊👍

The best Teriyaki sauce ever, hands down.
This sh*t and the best? Where is Mirin? Where is Sake? Next time you can drink soy sauce directly from the bottle and call it "the best teriyaki .." :-)
Hey John, I am so glad I found your channel. This teriyaki sauce recipe sounds and looks so delicious.
Thanku for this easy to follow recipe, I made it tonight for my lil fams -over chicken drumsticks & omg it was a hit!!! Appreciate yr work... now to check out all yr other content 😁
That sounds delicious!! Thanks for watching and trying it out. Let me know if you try any of the other sauces out. 😊👍
I wanted to put this in a pound of pasta should I double the ingredients so it covers the pasta better?
I think you should be ok with the proportions shown. It show cover 1 pound.
I still come back to this recipe, theres many and none compare in ease and taste in my opinion. The only thing I’ll sometimes change is I double it and use the same amount of slurry for a thinner sauce but it’s always the best
Wow that's Awesome 👍 I'm happy you enjoy it 😊
very nice content sir, i have a question. can i also use real ginger (sliced) because we dont have ground ginger and a regular vinegar substitute for rice vinegar 😅?
Thank you for watchig 😊sure you can use real ginger. I would mince it nice and fine. If you have apple cider vinegar I would use it. If not regular, vinegar will work. Happy cooking my friend 👍
@@thesauceandgravychannel thank u sir ! have a great day
I like this because I have all these things in my pantry.
I made this, combined it with noodles and it was extremely good!!!!!
That sounds delicious 👍👍😊I am happy you liked it😊
Wow...this is an awesome recipe. Thanks so much!! If I wanted to make it in advance, how long would it last in the fridge??
Thanks. It should last roughly a week. I hope you enjoy 👍
