  • 6.7 Programming the IQA number into the ECU is a piece of cake! WAZZZZZ good P OW E R S T R O K E Family. This was a no brainer but then I started to think about the fact that you guys may not even know how to do this, let alone know that fuel injectors even needed to be programmed in. As long as you can get Forscan or use the dealer tools IDS/FDRS then you should be good to go. Let me know below friends & tell me what you all think! Are the codes standard per injector like a part number? Or is it just random generated codes. Why would the codes not match if it's the correct injector for the #8?

    • @buckhorncortez
      @buckhorncortez Рік тому +8

      Every injector is an individual part and not specific to a certain position in the motor. The injector is tested after manufacturing for its specific performance parameters. You're telling the PCM that the performance information for the injector that has been replaced has changed. As an example, if you swapped injectors 2 and 4, you'd have to change the programming for 2 to 4, and 4 to 2.

    It is important in order to save the manufacturer money, and the customer too. Years back gasoline and diesel injectors had high manufacturing scrap rate when the fuel delivery test said they were out of acceptable volume range. Then they started sorting them into matched sets with similar flow rates but you had to replace them in full sets. BOING!!! How about having a system in PCM/ECM that would zero the injector open timing to the flow rate measured for that injector? Almost zero scrap and no warranty claims for a full set of flow rate matched injectors when only one fails.

    Hello Arod. Hope you are doing well. You helped me out with a ccv question a few years ago and I'm hoping you (or someone else with experience) will be able to answer a quick question. I have a 2015 powerstroke and the number 6 injector gave up on me. I have my replacement and was putting it back in. I got to the part where I was installing the hold-down bolt. After a few threads, it started getting hard to turn and am concerned about the threads (I stopped at that point). The original bolt did come out without issue other than it squeaked most of way when I removed it. I'm just wondering if the tight threading is typical or whether I should try and run a long tap down there to clean up the threads. Any help from you or someone else with experience would be extremely appreciated. FYI - I'm writing you via this video since I'm going to use this video and forscan to program the ECU. This video enabled me to have the confidence to take on this project, so much appreciated for that too.

    Another great video.. Question Master ARod, I have a 2020 F350 SD that every time I start my truck and backup I get all these warnings on my dash that my Hill Start Assist, PreCollision, Hill descent is disabled. I’ve been reading that its been a problem for awhile with the ford trucks. It’s something with the electrical module.
    Have you heard about this? Thank you, friend in AZ..

      Check for codes and look for communication issues.
      That is one of common problem with flooded or Ford trucks that have had water inside passenger side, check for corrosion inside BCM box.

    What’s up with FORScan not being able to program the IQA codes on 2020 models. Is there an issue using the OBDLink EX vs a pass through device? There seems to be a lot of compatibility issues on the 20 and newer stuff. What changed from 19’s back?

    • @shushikiary
      @shushikiary Рік тому

      They went to a completely new ECU in 2020, so until forscan gets it figured out for the newer ECU's it's not going to work. Just like how it took a good while for SCT to figure out how to program (break into) those ECU's.

      @johnnyrizzo8057 Рік тому +1

      @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod from my understanding, forscan reads the vin and will reach out to ford servers. There is a "as-build" as it came programed from the factory. Would we need to additional go back in and reprogram the new injector b/c of the change.

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech Рік тому +3

      @@johnnyrizzo8057 as built is like PCM BCM when we install a new one it saves as built data in case something happens we aren't sitting with a blank module and can reload as built data to recover. These are injector codes. Your telling the PCM the performance for the injector (in this case cylinder 8) has changed and it needs to know it's new value. It doesn't know you put an injector in. Think of it like a battery monitor reset. You put a battery in. It doesn't know you did. You have to tell it by resetting the learned values. This case. It doesn't know a new injector is there. That's why the check engine light won't go off by itself.

    • @johnnyrizzo8057
      @johnnyrizzo8057 Рік тому +2

      @@BeardedFordTech got it. Clear as Mudd. The check engine light would alert me to issue. Simply put your the man.

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech Рік тому +2

      @@johnnyrizzo8057 well yes the light alerts you to an issue. But it doesn't know the problem is fixed until you tell it. Like A-Rod said it will still run if you don't do it. But you will get injector fault codes. I'm confused on the clear as mudd. Did I confuse you? Wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ or anything. ForScan does pull as built data from Ford's server but it's not used in this situation because we aren't reprogramming the PCM. Just telling it there is a new injector in a specific cylinder.
