    Great video! Where did you purchase that pulse sensor? I am having trouble finding one for anything other than a Pico type setup.

    If a duramax engine knocks because of a bad injector does it always throw out smoke from the exhaust or is there occasions when it dont

    Where are you located? I have a 17 f350 and think the piston skirt cracked but need it diagnosed.

    I see the low cylinder, but what does the high pressure mean on that cylinder? Valves, rings or would you need to dig deeper? Good vids

      Piston rings because I have my pulse sensor hooked up to the oil cap and thus showing a failed piston ring on that cylinder

      @American Diesel Tech oh got ya. Fast forwarded to much, and missed that it was hooked up to oil cap. Wow, so it's going right past the rings

    • @AD-T
      @AD-T  Рік тому

      @E The rod bearing failed first then caused slop and made the piston ride against the cylinder wall till the rings failed due to the crosshatching wearing and that crosshatching and oil combined is crucial for the rings to seal correctly and the end result blow by in the crank case.

    can the oil disp tube be use on this test? or its has to be at the oil cap?

      I never tried that honestly because I’m always scared of oil being pushed through my tools. But I’ve been told dipstick should be fine. It’s worth a try

    There is a crank button on passenger side battery box look it up

      @@jamesmcfarland3887 not all years of powerstrokes have that connector and no it’s not a button. There’s various cab and chassis and fleet side options the method I’m showing works on every year and what if you break the connector. It’s all about speed and accuracy.

    So my truck is knocking and when I pulled the code it was a P0269. So I pulled the plug on the number 6 injector and the knocking stopped. Is my motor blown or do I need to just replace the injector?

      @@bretkelley7254 I would leave that injector unplugged and run it for 5 minutes then perform a relative compression to see if your compression is good. If your compression is good then it means that injector should be replaced but if you have poor compression in that cylinder along with that knock would tell you it’s the rod knock. You can disable fuel pump or disconnect the pcv on the back of the fuel rail drivers side and crank the engine over and you wanna listen for a even cranking .

Got them all fixed up drove down the road and number 6 cylinder was causing the truck to blow white smoke. upon further inspection the injector clip was smashed.. hopefully it just needs a new pigtail.

      @@AD-T Isn't that crazy under 100K? I had 230K on my old 15 F550 still runs great. I was just looking at a 14 F350 deleted and tuned. Runs great but has that same knock. That was the new replacement engine with 100K on it.

    What a complete disappointment. Can any auto manufacturer make a reliable diesel engine anymore?!
