South Texas Banshee: Thank you for all of your hard work to teach us Banshee lovers how to work on our own bikes. Your videos have really helped me!!! Cheers from Oregon mate!
I'm so glad I found this video. Currently I'm rebuilding a 2006 Shee and this video came in real handy tuning the carb idol. Now It's running like a champ! Thanks!!!!
Dude you and your videos are awesome, like most I was a little hesitant to dive in to my banshee carbs but you made it easy to understand and explained things very good! Thank you and keep em comin!
Jimmy Moates Thank you Jimmy! I’m sure trying. I’ve been really busy lately keeping up with my Ebay, it’s a full time job but I do plan to make more videos covering stuff I haven’t covered yet. Even some stuff I have already covered because no two jobs go the same. Sometime bolts won’t come out, or break, ball joint spin when you try n loosen them etc etc. I’d like to show how to remedy these problems as they come up.
Your video came into my news feed so I figured I'd say whats up kevin! I cleaned my carbs and set them after my last ride so hopefully I won't have to once I get over this broken foot. Keep up the hard work on this platform as well as your weight loss stuff.
great video!! I just picked up a banshee that's been built with a few mods. idles like shit and bogs at low rpm. I'm certain the carbs are outta whack. thanks to you I now know how to check the carbs. thanks again.
Dan Ayotte my banshee Boggs to at low rpms. Did this video help stop the bogg cause mine still Boggs at this time especially on take off on first gear.
Thanks for the vid. Take a look at my Banshee after your video and found out my air screws and my idle screws were both out of sync. Now bike starts one kick without using throttle. Much more crisp. Accelerates from the lows with power now. Thanks!!
I tried to set up my carb by only watching parts of your videos. I just watched the whole thing and I wasn’t doing it right lmfao I should be good now thank man!
Ey bro.. Good work. You have been helping people on this with 1 vid more than you know.. I just got a 06 banshee special edition a few weeks ago. 1st banshee ever. Damn I love this thing. Of course it has to be modified. And that has started. Thanks to your vid my bike runs smooth now. Did a cfm performance air box, with pod k & n filters. Look similar if not same as I see on your bike in this vid. I didn't like the idea of running wide open without a box. We are to wet here and I'm for sure using it for off road mostly. Anyway. Thanks for this vid helped me and I'm sure many others.
i just got my first banshee and its all out of sync. your video is a blessing like the previous guy said. thank you so much ! p.s. made me laugh when you politely said "please go away dog" at 5:50
Not even gonna lie if it wasn't for these videos I would of been broke bringing it to a mechanic. But this is my first banshee, and it came with cool heads and I'm doing a rebuild on the top and bottom end do I need a special gasket set? At least for the top end ?
CITY-OF-911 order a pro design cool head o-ring kit. You’ll be good to go. No gasket is used under the head. Be sure you watch the cool head video. Take your time and it’ll go smoothly.
Great Video, I have pro circuit exhaust, k&n with lid on, and it seems best idle and throttle response at half turn from seated on the air screw, pilot is 30 and main is 290, what does this sound like I need?
Am I correct that turning the air screws OUT means more air less fuel and IN is vise versa? Got a stock 04 used, found they were 4 turns out instead of the factory 2 turns out. Thanks for your help as always
@@kevingalindo1 I haven't ridden it since I turned them back to factory settings. When I do what symptoms should I be looking for before I have to look at the jets?
I know this is an old video, but I just got my banshee, it seems like mine won’t idle very well, and it definitely smokes more than yours. Does that sound like the carbs need cleaned and adjusted? I plan on following this video step by step to see if that will make it idle. Do you run seafoam in a 2 stroke? What ratio do you use for oil? Thank you!
So hope your still on here but I'm having a major issue with my 2000 shee and the right throttle carb cap keeps coming off and I believe it's that same one leaking fuel out the overflow when it's just sitting shut off and then it has a bog in the mid range and wants to pop and back fire on that side now to since someone I know went and messed with the screw on the right carb as well. I'm so frustrated and really could use some help. Thanks so much.
it could be the needle seat rubber O-ring of the float that is damaged. i had the same issue a few years ago. around 2 litres of fuel vanished from the tank over the overflow vents of the affected carb. then i ordered a Moose carb rebuild kit. this o-ring is part of the kit. after i replaced it, the issue was gone. i do not remove the needle seat anymore for cleaning from now on. only if necessary. but i think you figured it out yourself after 2 months.
hey i did the same thing new top end rebuild ported stock carbs 280 main 25 pilot.and it wont crank unless a drop some gas directly to the carbs first.
is there a easy way to check pilot jet lean or rich? i know main jet is do a 6th gear pull clutch in and coast it out and then check spark. but i got a bog down at 0 till 1/4 power its pissin me off, air screw is at 1, removed the airbox snorkle, and i got 22.5 pilot jet that seems to small if i google a bit around it should bee 25... main i put 210 in, i got stock bit with stock airbox no holes just a twin air filter. and 31k rdlc 350 carbs (i think these are 28mm) i dont want to run it lean and fuk it up its already a expensive quad :) weather also has its effects on the quad
hi kevin! need help bad....can you point me in the right direction. I have blown 3 top end. I seem to can get my jetting right. I have a 421 with 34mm pj crabs 55 pilot 152 main never been touched. my elevation is 702. where should I start with my pilot and main? please help me
nice video! can u make a video on how pilot jet/needle jet /then main jet works ..like quarter , half throttle, full throttle in order for all to work properly when changed so u wont run lean or rich...all explained
South Texas Banshee I do not understand by following your steps and the left side does not work in harmony with the right !! I live 800 meters above sea level and use 280 main jets and 25 Pilot jets, I also use T6 Any help what happens?
Hey so i seen this is old but it its backfiring and not always getting spark and it wont start properly its generally stator issues. Mine did the sake thing untill a new stator was put on and my timing was set
I’ve done everything from all your vids and she bogs going into 1st then she kicks butt & when I kick it into 2nd and she does it again the carbs are clean jets are strait ... what should I do @SouthTexasBanshee
I'm running t5s with the airbox on with the pro flow filter and when adjusting the air fuel screw do I need to have the airbox on for this adjustment I have 300 mains now and 30 pilot jets and it has a hanging idle and will not take any adjustment.
So how do you know if it’s just running too fast because of the idle air screws or the actual idle thing up by the throttle? If it’s idling too fast how come you don’t just turn down the throttles idle thing?
Hey.. my stock 26mm carb for my 350 called for a 280 jet 30 pilot with my pipes but I'm moving up to a 28mm Keihin PWK carbs.. the jet number are smaller they dont sale a 280 jet for those.. question is would a #160 main jet on the Keihin PWK be same as 280 on the stock.. if not what would be a 280 on the Keihin PWK
I got some questions about my build I just finished up. I did a break in on the motor first thing i noticed whenever i turned my fuel on it immediately starting flowing out but once started quit. And after bout a min the the pipes were scolding hot and i think it fried the rings already. Just replaced trans OEM. Driveline clutch, cool head by pro design 21 cc domes. New to the cool head also
Got a question u helped me before i have complete stock banshee with vforce4, k&n filter open air box with fmf pipes can get it to jet right i have 280mains and 25 pilots straight frying my plugs. Any info? Now i habe another one with stroker spacer plate with fmf pipes and it has 340 or 330 with either 40 pilots or35 have to double check again but runs good.
stock motor, TR6 pipe, 300 main 27.5 pilots, air screw 1.5 out and needle clip in the middle all stock carbs... running airbox/K&N cone with holes at sea level, temps ranging from 50-75... it'll start from cold, and run until it warms up but fouls plugs on idle... any ideas? after it dies on idle it wont start until completely cold again... or i clean plugs.
yes! I have 4mil crank 115 long rod 68mm pistons 21cc domes v 4 reeds 34mm pj keihin cards shearer small bore pipes advanced +4 with the advance black box I seem to not know where to start jetting with my elevation i
I'm not real familiar with the PJ carbs, but a guy I know is running 34 PJ's and 165 was too rich, so I'd start there, so your not making runs too lean. Start rich enough it won't get on the pipe, then step down size by size until it will. At that point start doing plug chops. Be sure you leak it down as well.
I just redone the top end back stock, carbs are stock with a 280 main an 25 pilot (I think is to small) and 280 main. it has t5 exhaust. what you recommend, Ian in hendersonville NC on altitude
I have a 97 banshee and I’m having a hard time tuning my carbs . I’ve cleaned both carbs & jets she starts in one kick but sometimes she bogs out … can you recommend how to tune ?? The TORS are removed she runs good but after a while she starts to bog out .. any help would be appreciated @SouthTexasBanshee
Hey bud i did this to sync my carbs cause slides were off and now i seems to rev good. But its hard to start cold and wont hit powerband feels like its guna hit th hen falls on its face. Eny suggestions?
@@kevingalindo1 I'm having issues with not getting any fuel into the cylinders, just did tors delete and did a rebuild kit on the carbs. Any suggestions?
Why do you think that when I'm giving my bike gad In 5th and sixth gear it seems to bog. but all the rest of the gears it has plenty of power. It freshly rebuilt top end and bottom end I have the timing advanced to +4 degrees and running 300 main jets and 27.5 pilots. air mixture screw backed out 1 turn. I had it at 2 turns but it would sputter at low speed.
Hey my name is John Escobedo and I’m from Southern California and I just recently purchased some banshees and I’m a banshee lover and I have one that when I am in the power band and it will sputter
HELP. My banshee got new carb gaskets, synced and went really good last time i drove in like 3h. Then i got home washed the banshee carefully. Next day i was going for a ride and It started to misfire and bog on leftside at low rpm. I cleaned my K&N airfilter. I drained the carbs. I checked the sparkplugs and even changed them. They went black AND dry. So my real question is... is there any gasket on the engine that can cause this ? Can it be a tiny water bulb or some unwanted vaccum coming in? Thanks yall!
The thing with thay is that's not the right way. You need to have slack in your cables. 9 times out of ten when you have no slack in the cable it will rev when you turn the bars one way or the other.
Great video, Any ideas why my banshee is hard to start after pulling carbs for the clutch cable change? When it does finally start it just bogs and dies
I have a 97 banshee and I’m having a hard time tuning my carbs . I’ve cleaned both carbs & jets she starts in one kick but sometimes she bogs out … can you recommend how to tune ?? The TORS are removed she runs good but after a while she starts to bog out .. any help would be appreciated @southtextbanshee
Hey I have a 2000 yfz350 that is getting to much air and will not start I have no airbox aftermarket pipes and stock carbs what can I do with air filter to fix that?
This video has saved tons of banshees for me but I hit a hiccup. I set it up just like this 1 out on air 2.5 out on idle. Some reason she starts up and revs to the moon. I back off the idle 2 turns an it’s gets close but still revving, can’t get it right
Hey quick question, my bike been sitting for a year now. I just brought a carb kit , do I have to change the main jet in the carb or just clean it an change everything else in the carb? Thanks
So i tried to make my idle higher on the right side bc it seemed low then i did that now it seems like it is lean and breaks up on top end plz help me out:(
Having serious problems with my carbs....they are brand new Khein Sudco carbs, both of them are leaking gas from the side vent hose that it next to the choke and the hose that is at the bottom of the carb...what should I do ? Also, my banshee isn't getting any spark from the spark plug coils. Help would be great with these problems
Buy carb rebuild kits and also make sure to float heights are set correctly. Also for the spark issue, try trimming the spark plug wire back an inch or 2 and then put the boots back on and try it again.
If my left pipe is not getting hit what can it be I followed the step on the idle screws n got it to stay at idle it use to get stuck on high idle but now it idles normal just right pipe getting hot
Elreyjdm for life Pull that carb apart and make sure the pilot jet is clear, check that cylinder compression, reeds, make sure your pipe isn't plugged... (seen stock ones do it), try a new spark plug and trim the coil wire like in the video i have. See where that gets ya and fill me in.
Trying to set my pilot jet i have a thirty seven and a half. And at idle my plug is black and wet. Now when i put a thirty in it same way. Then i put a twenty seven and a half in it and the motor don't run right. please help!!!
david malicek, plugs are gonna be black and wet at idle, I'd prefer that over lean any day. I mean I guess you could plug chop it at idle, I'd get it where it ran good around 2 turns warm n needs the choke when it's cold for a just a little bit. all mine are jetted to fire up cold no choke. plugs are re black and wet, but have yet to fowl a plug.
K another question when I plug chop it in 6th Gear when I let off the gas and Coast it white smoke was coming out of my exhaust and a real stinky smell
so ive done everything here. but it seems like my throttle cable is to long and the slide wont come down to the window. i have messed with the screw on the carb and on the trottle(i have a twist throttle) i dont have any other adjusting points on my throttle cable. what do you suppose i do? . the mark on the slide using the window it stays up maybe 1/4 in above the window. (this is with full throttle. please help me fix this. thank you for the help all along the way.
do you know anything about king quads ? I got a 1999 king quad 4x4. the carb idle screw is turned out 6 half and its inside the bowl. hard to get to . I got it all apart till I find out . and it keeps back fireing. thanks.
James Jiles The screw underneath is the fuel screw, the idle screw will actually be on the right side with a flex cable leading under the carb to the left side of the engine. The screw in the bowl needs to be set around 2 turns from seated or where it idled the best. If you don't see the flex cable, it may be broken off, pull the right side cover and you'll see a box on the right side of the carb. Look for the adjuster.
Hey great video! I've seen you've replied to a comment from 2 weeks ago so hopefully you see this too. I've got a ybr 125 single carb very simple but it just won't idle. Idle screw is screwed all the way in and I've played with the fuel screw as well but still it just revs down slowly from about half choke and then dies. Only full choke will keep it running. If I rev it while on choke then it revs up high and stays there until I bring it down a little then it slowly dies down completely. I've cleaned it, checked for vacuum leaks, etc but nothing. Any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out at this point!
Hey man, I just finished changing my old reeds with new boysen reeds. After everything was installed I stared her and it took at least 30 kicks but finally started her up. When she turned over, the idle was very very high and I had to shut it off after like 2 seconds. I don’t Know what the issue is and I was looking for your opinion? They were replaced with stock reeds so I don’t think I need to reject but I’m not sure. Thanks for the help :)

Gravity fed sir. As long as the fuel cap is venting like it should fuel will flow down into the carbs. Have a good eveing🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@kevingalindo1 I'm having issues with not getting any fuel into the cylinders, just did tors delete and did a rebuild kit on the carbs. Any suggestions?
@@DJMANDOYUPP make sure your carbs are sealed and you don't have an air leak between the reeds and the carb. Also make sure your jets are clean
I did the same as the video and it now runs great but there is fuel leaking near by the idle screw from the oveflow wholes in the right carb
South texas Banshee
Hey! I have T6 pipes, pod filters, (no airbox) Stock carbs, 30 pilot what size main jet do you recomend?
Hey my banshee only have the air screw on the carburetor what should I do it idle fine
Hey my name is John Escobedo and I’m from Southern California and I just recently purchased some banshees and I’m a banshee lover and I have one that when I am in the power band and it will sputter
soo much knowledge on this channel thanks to this channel i did my top end orings help the guy out and like the video.
Hell yeah brotha. Thank u so much. Thank u for the well explained video. Very clean.
My carb adjusters are all the way down and it sometimes doesn’t idle
Does it matter if you have the nut behind the idle screw or not?
I never installed the idle screw ...I use the top of the carb nut for such. Every did it that way?
The thing with thay is that's not the right way. You need to have slack in your cables. 9 times out of ten when you have no slack in the cable it will rev when you turn the bars one way or the other.
Great video,
Any ideas why my banshee is hard to start after pulling carbs for the clutch cable change?
When it does finally start it just bogs and dies
Dumb question but what size wrench are u using to hold the adjuster while tightening the jam nut?
I have a 97 banshee and I’m having a hard time tuning my carbs . I’ve cleaned both carbs & jets she starts in one kick but sometimes she bogs out … can you recommend how to tune ?? The TORS are removed she runs good but after a while she starts to bog out .. any help would be appreciated @southtextbanshee
Hey I have a 2000 yfz350 that is getting to much air and will not start I have no airbox aftermarket pipes and stock carbs what can I do with air filter to fix that?
This fixed all my problems thank u so much
Jacob Plambeck, sweet man! Glad to hear!!!
How many turns in for a complete stock banshee that still has tors ?
Is 2.5 turns in still a good baseline ?
Where did you get that tool for syncing the carbs. I’m assuming it’s showing how much vacuum each carb is pulling?
This video has saved tons of banshees for me but I hit a hiccup. I set it up just like this 1 out on air 2.5 out on idle. Some reason she starts up and revs to the moon. I back off the idle 2 turns an it’s gets close but still revving, can’t get it right
Air leak maybe
What jetting would you recommend for 700-900 ft above sea level with pipes and pod filters with no air box?
Would this work with the tors installed
How would you do this on a banshee that doesnt have a tors delete
just a question mate, how about those dual 28mm mikuni without glass sight? and it only has one idle screw and slide screw
I can’t feel my slide move at all, is it beCuse my cables are not tight or what
Do you have a similar video for bikes that still have tors ? How do you adjust idle on those ?
what richens up the bike? when you turn the air screws in or out ? I switched to Toomeys now im haveing a lean problem
Box Impala
In- rich
Out - lean
My quad is all stock besides the pipes ,and I’m removing my airbox completely what size of jets would you go with ?
If my left pipe is not getting hit what can it be I followed the step on the idle screws n got it to stay at idle it use to get stuck on high idle but now it idles normal just right pipe getting hot
Elreyjdm for life
Pull that carb apart and make sure the pilot jet is clear, check that cylinder compression, reeds, make sure your pipe isn't plugged... (seen stock ones do it), try a new spark plug and trim the coil wire like in the video i have. See where that gets ya and fill me in.
Hey what if my banshee doesn’t want to idle?
Trying to set my pilot jet i have a thirty seven and a half. And at idle my plug is black and wet. Now when i put a thirty in it same way. Then i put a twenty seven and a half in it and the motor don't run right. please help!!!
david malicek what are all your mods and elevation David?
ported by ct racing 19cc cool head v force 3 reeds and 38mm carb. K&N air filter no air box
david malicek, plugs are gonna be black and wet at idle, I'd prefer that over lean any day. I mean I guess you could plug chop it at idle, I'd get it where it ran good around 2 turns warm n needs the choke when it's cold for a just a little bit. all mine are jetted to fire up cold no choke. plugs are re black and wet, but have yet to fowl a plug.
K another question when I plug chop it in 6th Gear when I let off the gas and Coast it white smoke was coming out of my exhaust and a real stinky smell
david malicek
Coolant leaking in to cylinders man. head gasket, or is it just the right side?
Thank you! You made my day a lot easier
My banshee I just got is pouring out smoke could the floats being way off cause this it's blue smoke and the carbs are leaking gas out of vents
caleb anderson look at needle and seat.
Air/fuel screw
so ive done everything here. but it seems like my throttle cable is to long and the slide wont come down to the window. i have messed with the screw on the carb and on the trottle(i have a twist throttle) i dont have any other adjusting points on my throttle cable. what do you suppose i do? . the mark on the slide using the window it stays up maybe 1/4 in above the window. (this is with full throttle. please help me fix this. thank you for the help all along the way.
roughly 1/4. throttle turn away from the mark to the window. but thats with my screws all out. i dont want to ride that way just incase.
I need your advice sir, my banshee has it heads ported, t9 and kn filters, any idea what carb will fit the best for these mods?
there are no ports in the head ...If there are now, throw away ...
do you know anything about king quads ? I got a 1999 king quad 4x4. the carb idle screw is turned out 6 half and its inside the bowl. hard to get to . I got it all apart till I find out . and it keeps back fireing. thanks.
James Jiles
The screw underneath is the fuel screw, the idle screw will actually be on the right side with a flex cable leading under the carb to the left side of the engine. The screw in the bowl needs to be set around 2 turns from seated or where it idled the best. If you don't see the flex cable, it may be broken off, pull the right side cover and you'll see a box on the right side of the carb. Look for the adjuster.
thank you so much yeah I seen that flex cable thanks again.
James Jiles very welcome sir
