    These are some of my favorite hotel hacks that I have been doing for years both with and without my kids that made traveling easier and less stressful and no one wants to be stressed on vacation or a business trip. Hope you like them!

    OMG!!! First-time commenter here! I have watched MANY travel videos (probably too many 😂), and some of these are tips I have never heard! Great hacks! The only hack missing is to check for cameras in the room - unfortunately needed in this day.

      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому +1

      Hi @nicolem1397 ! I totally agree about hunting down cameras in your room, but so far I must be a really bad spy, since I haven't been able to find one to date (or I'm really lucky) but you are right! Thank you for commenting and watching!

    Put the painter's tape on the door over the peephole for more privacy. Combined with the towel blocking the door bottom means no one can see room lights to know if the room is occupied.

    I use detergent sheets for travel laundry. They’re “dry” and therefore don’t count as a liquid, but also pack away small. I cut one sheet into 4 little squares. One is enough to use for a pair of socks and undies or just a t-shirt or leggings. I use 2 for a pair of pjs, or a lightweight sweater or dress.

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому +2

      Hi @tanyas6643 I’ve never thought of cutting the detergent sheets into smaller pieces! That's a great hack!

      @ the full sheets are really sized for a small load (maybe a few days worth) in a washer.

    Have same collapsible kettle. But I found the silicone cups get too hot. I pack a thermal coffee mug. Laundry I bring an inch square of bar laundry soap.

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  17 днів тому

      Hi @jant4741! What kind of laundry bar do you use? I have not found one I really like yet. As for the cup, of course a mug is better, but we don't always have the room.

      fels naphtha, for under wear & spot washing. I travel very light- carry on.

    Just wow! I haven’t even thought about most of these. This will be very useful when we do our trip to Europe next year. I would carry washer, softener and dryer sheets rather than liquid or powder, take up no room whatsoever

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому

      Hi @selinasnowdon2834 ! You know I never considered them before, since I have always been able to find laundry supplies anywhere I went, but I think I will next time, since it's a good fail-safe. Thanks so much for watching!!

    I’ve slept in too many hotel rooms (and friends/family guest rooms) that have inadequate curtains and/or blinking lights, so I bring my sleep mask. Also, that valet tray that you have is also great for playing games with dice - even at home! It keeps the dice from rolling off the side of your table.

    Great tips. I am a fanatic about sanitizing. I do the things you did but also sanitize all the drawer pull handles, microwave and fridge handle. The sink counter and faucet knobs, toilet seat,lid,flusher and the top of tank in case I need to sit any towels or something when showering. Also wipe the bottom of tub. Don’t want any athletes foot. I have a zippered case for my toothbrush that has a loop on it. I bring a suction cup and attach to the mirror with toothbrush, toothpaste,floss and mouthwash tabs.

    Omg, I live on Long Island and have been to Oheka Castle a few times. I got to see it before its extensive renovations. Got to see some of those rooms in its original state. Trivia: Parts of the movie Citizen Kane was filmed there. The great lawn off to the side and some interior spots. Did you get to visit any other Gold Coast homes? I also love the Vanderbilt home. Others. 🤗

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому +2

      Hi @Beacon631 Oheka is just amazing! I've been to Sands Point Preserve which has both Hempstead House and Falaise. I've also been to the Vanderbilt Estate out in Huntington and I've stayed at The Mansion at Glen Cove, where "Sabrina" was filmed. There are so many mansions to see between Long Island, the Hudson River and Newport, RI that you could stay busy for such a long time. I didn't know that Citizen Kane was filmed at Oheka. All I can say is "Rosebud", LOL!

    • @Beacon631
      @Beacon631 Місяць тому +2

      @ LoL, yes. It’s also fun to visit Teddy Roosevelt’s house up in the same area as the others. Make note of it for next time in case you ever get to visit Long Island again. 😁

    Awesome tips. I add my room number, hotel name address, and the country’s emergency number in my notes app. It’s easier to locate than searching through my photos. I will definitely start using your tip for the shoes pointed to stairs. Love that one . Metal utensils is not advisable, as my on my last trip to London, my backpack was pulled out by TSA agent for extra screening because I had a camping folding metal fork. My family will not let me forget it.

      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому

      Hi @michellestaneart6570 ! LOL true for most of Europe, but they are adapting as of late.You can even buy ice now! When my kids were younger, I used to carry these very thin ice packs, and most hotels were kind enough to put them in the freezer for me, but that is when we used to check luggage.

    • @PerriesPassport
      @PerriesPassport  Місяць тому

      HI @carolynknierim6848, and that is a very fair question. What I would say, is if you are uncomfortable use the metal latch, at least the wedge door alarm. The worst that will happen is that you might annoy a nearby room.
