There are some great tips here! Hadn’t thought of reinforcing the seams of a Ziploc with duct tape. Love it! Along the same lines as putting cotton pads in a Ziploc with alcohol, you can put facial cleanser or makeup remover and make your own cleaning cloths. In the Ziploc they should last at least 3-4 days without drying out. Great for quick little weekend trips. You can use facial tissue (Kleenex, etc.) as an emergency toilet paper too. Try to avoid putting them in the toilet if possible, but as an emergency, it works. I went to a park one time and the public restroom was completely out of any kind of paper product (toilet paper, paper towels). Not a great situation when you have to go both #1 & #2. I was fortunate in that a angel of a lady had an extra Kleenex on her and gave it to me. I’ve also brought toilet paper folded and tucked into a small Ziploc to concerts (women’s bathrooms are notorious for running out of paper). Saved me at more than one event.
Hi, @lokicooper4690! Those are some great ideas! I'm going to do the one about makeup remover (I've been using the single-use ones). On a different note, I feel ya pain about being caught off guard regarding bathroom issues and no toilet paper. The story about me in Les Baux has become a family classic, but in the moment... not so much. I used to fold the toilet paper, but I found that the roll method gave me more, and took up less room in my bag. Thanks again for those great tips!!
The toilet paper hack is brilliant! I take a snack sized ziplock bag (which I get from the Dollar Tree Store) and put a small amount of toilet paper in it, as well as a couple of individually wrapped Curad alcohol wipe pads (which I buy from the Dollar Tree - box of 100 for $1.25) and a thin Poise or Always pad. That way if the bathroom doesn't have toilet paper or doesn't have soap, I am covered for a variety of situations. The little snack ziplock is usually in my purse as it takes up minimal space. The individually wrapped Curad alcohol wipe pads are also good to have around in my purse in case I run out of antibacterial gel or to wipe down the airplane tray.
Hi @sherryschumacher1881! Wow, those are all great tips. I'm going to save them so the next time I go to Dollar Tree, I can get some of those items!! Thank you so much for sharing all those tips with us!!
I always carry a small pack of Kleenex which I buy at the dollar store. It comes in handy for toilet paper, as napkins and of course noses. My mom taught me that many years ago. I'm 72 now.
I always used the ziplock bags as packing cubes before I bought packing cubes. I liked the 2 gallon size. Sometimes you can find them at Dollar Tree. Still pack a few sometimes for dirty clothes. I will have to try the toothpaste trick. I usually buy toothy tabs from Lush, but they have gotten pretty expensive.
HI @cathylingo9521 ! I've been having a hard time finding the 2-gallon bags anywhere, which stinks since I really like them. I learned that toothpaste trick from a friend, who is a baker and fellow traveler. It really does save a lot on those chew tabs and also a bit less in your quart size bag, too! Thanks for watching!!
Believe me,I actually follow a few since long. Like using a plastic cover of a freshly purchased sheet... Transporting tooth paste from one to another... Etc...
Great tips. I will admit though, I've seen the toothpaste tablets, but never your novel way to create your own. But I've honestly found that my liquids bag is not so full that one of those travel size tubes doesn't do me. I'd guess it's a good hack if you struggle with the size limits.
Hi @deedsh6280 This is just an alternative in case your 3-1-1 bag is full. I have done it for longer trips if I need my conditioner or specific liquid meds that are over the counter. The toothpaste tabs are quite expensive so this is just a good way to have your toothpaste and chew it too! Thanks for watching!
Hi Everone! These are some of my best DYI travel hacks that will not only help you to pack, but also are from things that you already have in your house!! I hope you find it helpful!!
The binder clip for your hat is awesome.
HI @kj7045 ! Thanks! 😺😺

Great ideas. The razor blade cannot be exposed - must have that plastic cover if it's in your carry-on.
HI @Carolinagirl589 ! Thanks for that helpful reminder about razor blades!
I roll up toilet paper and put it in a tall pill bottle. Stay dry..
