Rob MTBMichigan Elliott Hey Rob! Keep it up. I’m 40yo and I started at 315lbs but with some diet changes I am now just falling under 270lbs. I had to take a break because my wife was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago but now I’m back out there. If you run into “shamers” on the trail then F-em! I go as fast or slow as I need to and I know what I’m doing is for me and my family. So good job Brutha!
I'm 6'1 and a lil under 300 pounds. Bin looking for a channel like this for a wile. I ride a 2020 yt capra 29 now but rode a trek fuel ex for years. I find that the more endoro design of the Capra has made big hits and drops much better. Looking forward to more of this content as I couldn't find any content on this subject.
My exact stats as well. I have been mtb for past 2 months..love it. But climbing does suck and people don't understand how hard it is to push our weight up the hills. Keep shredding my guy
Hey, I'm 54 6'2. Around 440 down from 499 about a year and a half ago, been missing my biking dealing with some aging parent health issues and my own physical pains from a snowmobiling accident in my youth. Love getting out on my fat bike and my street bike I just need to get out more often and soon! Looking forward to some cold weather biking! Thanks for the encouragement! 😎👍
What bikes are you riding? I’m really big like you so I’m looking for what works. As I understand it the wheels are the weak link. Did you have wheels built for you or are you rocking what came with the bikes?
@@StayZero556 I have 3 bikes I ride, an overbuilt down hill rig full suspension. A street brawler Raleigh M-80 And my fatbike motobecane Sturgis Bullet 2x10 XL I swapped out a lot of the goodies but I heard the biggest issue with that bike was the crappy Novatec hubs that I replaced..
6'5" 320lbs ride over 3000 miles a year primarily mtb but adding in some gravel when the trails are closed. I ain't fast but I keep going. Keep the rubber side down and rolling forward.
Curious as well, im 6'3 315 lbs. I got pretty lazy once i started working but rode bikes my whole childhood and teens. I notice mostly all bikes weight limits are 250-300 lbs. I dont know if im just over cautious about buying because im over the limit.

I was always a heavy rider. Lots of hard physical work all my life. Built like a BARGE!! 5'5 and 350 as of right now. Think of an oak whisky barrel with arms and legs. Granted I'm not in decent physical condition like I once was...but NEED to get back on a bike to make the changes I need/want to.
Pastor Rob thank you for the inspirational video. I happen to fall upon this video after seeing all the issues with larger riders. It was actually discouraging me your video gave me new hope . Little about me on a single father of 17 years I have let myself go shooting over 200. My youngest daughter is finishing up college so I'm transitioning the focus on me. My doctor said my blood pressure , cholesterol are all leading to risk of heart attack. I want to live to see my kids next stage of life. I always love to ride but time was limited as single parent as many know. I have started working on stationary bike working my strength up. Been taking my lab for early walks to help. What a eye opener to how out of shape I am. It will be long road ahead , but your video was what I needed this am. It was great words of encouragement and will keep me pushing forward
I’m 6’7 305 lbs. Former professional football player. I’m lean for my size. I’ve just got into mountain biking. I bought a 2021 trek Roscoe 6. I wanted the 8 but the 6 was all they had. It works well for me. It climbs amazing. Ive done jumps on it and some decent downhill descents. If you want to go bike then go do it. Do not let your size or anything hold you back. You are on your own time. Biking has brought so much joy into my life and its good for physical and mental health as well. Get out there and have some fun.
Rob, love the video. I started mountain biking in 2014, lost about 30 lbs quickly then gained a chunk of it back. Been holding strong at 270ish. You are so right on so many levels. Group rides are tough. Seems like every group ride involves younger fitter friends racing up a mountain right out of the lot. I ride about 1300 miles a year. Most normal 160lb to 200 lb riders have no clue how hard it is climbing even a dirt road. I like climbing but am slow. Love the reward of going down. Love the videos!!
Thanks. Yeah. There is a big difference in the effort we put out compared to mere mortals during a ride. It's nice when you can find someone who will be ok with it though.

I am 5' 8" , 260 lbs, 48 years old, and I've been riding bikes since a child. Growning up , it was like learning to do wheelies, bunny jumps, manuals. Ive starting to get on singletracks ride like the pros that are on youtube. You are an inspiration. I tell my teenage sons who also ride and shred, that when I was their age, I could do all kinds of cool things on my bmx bike. Now I know that I can do what you do. Its hard and intimidating to go to trails and see everyone that look like MMA fighters or WWE bodies. But Ive learned from you to ignore those stigmas. Thank you for giving hope that I too can soon shred like a pro.
Hi my name is John. I'm a 6ft 1in 280 pound mountain biker. Finally a channel with this subject matter and content. I ride a 2020 Yt Capra 29. Coming from a trek fuel ex 29. Found that the more endoro oriented Capra 29 has made riding much more enjoyable than the fuel ex 29. I also think that it dont matter what bike your riding if your riding it. Just ride it!
How does the full suspension hold up? for you I currently ride a Specialized EPIC carbon HT 29 and was trying to find a FS that could support me, Im 6ft3 and 320.
@@ntxmtbiking9325 the thing I've learned about being bigger and having a full suspension bike is that you will be rebuilding the pivot locations a little more than normal.
i might be the biggest guy to comment on this channel im 6ft and am 494 pound current am im rocking a fat bike 7 speed and im loving it. its not easy but its so great getting around. but for any big guys out there your all champs in my eyes its not easy for us. and i here ya about the group rides not to many people to ride with cause were not the fastest but it is nice to try keep up with the faster guys. keep it up man ill keep you posted on how im doing as well.
I'm 6' 340lbs and so glad I found your channel. I've been wanting to start riding and just ordered my first grown up bike. Most of what I've seen has been discouraging, but I really enjoyed watching your video. I can't wait to get out there.
@@MTBMichigan I couldn't afford anything crazy so I'm getting a polygon cascade 4. I'm in the Florida panhandle so it's pretty tame here. Hopefully it'll hold up.
Hello Rob Elliot. I have just got my self a decent MTB. I am 300 pounds and I am looking to loses weight and get back in to riding. I used to ride in Big Bear ca. when I was 13-14 years old. I'm 38 now and I jumped on my new mtb and noticed that I need new forks. They are bottoming out when I just peddle. I am happy for the video you put out on what to up grade for heavy readers. Keep up the great work. You are inspiration for us bigger Clydesdale.
I'm 6'1 and 230 pounds... I just got my first bike and gear to start mtb. I was worried about being out there on my budget bike and getting made fun of. I got a costco kit bike, northrock xc27. I've upgraded the pedals, stem, handlebar and grips. I cant wait to get out there. You inspired me to not care and to just go for it. Thank you
Man, cellulitis. I feel your pain. I've been having flare ups for the last few years now. Hospitalized about 4 times from it. I've learned the signs and get to the doctor asap now to avoid the hospital. Anyway, I've always been big but, I lived on a bike when I was young, from daylight to dark, exploring the country land around my house in north Alabama. Since I've grown up, got married and had kids and gained a hundred pounds. I'm a very big guy, but the old love of bike riding may be one of the things that saves me. I have to get the weight off. I like your video. It is helping to motivate me. I've just ordered a steel-framed fat bike. It's cheap, but it's all I can do for now.
I’m 50 yo, 250 lbs, just getting back into mtb riding. Kinda rough. In the the beginning, but getting better at it every day. Thanks for the great Video!!
Love your spirit and attitude Bro. I am a Clydesdale myself. I was very impressed by your openness and honesty. I definitely appreciate that. Gonna look out for more of your videos.
Rob, I’m a big guy also. Enjoy listening to you. Cycling Community is full of us clydesdales. We like to shred too. Stay strong brother! We can never give up.
Great video brother. I guess Im a clydesdale cause I am over 250 lbs and 59 yo. Just bought a 26" mountain bike and getting it in 3 days on a Monday. Cant Wait. From N. CA.
First video of yours that I've come across. I'm a FOG(fat old guy). I have recently gotten back into biking as a form of exercise. It has been 35 years since I have ridden one. Didn't know if I could ride, didn't know if I would like it, answer to both is yes. I'd love to try some trails, but for now I just want to get out and have some fun. Being near the maximum weight limit of the bike, I wonder about doing damage, bent rims and broken spokes. Think I'll stick to the gravel roads for now, a clydesdale feels at home with farms. Happy trails.
Thanks for checking out the video. As far as big guys, we will go through parts a little more frequently than our thinner counterparts, but don't let that stop you. I was way over the limit when making a lot of these videos, and the bikes held up fine. That being said, even before I started dropping weight, I also began to enjoy gravel riding.
I just started up mtb. I was once very active and rode bikes, bmx, skateboarding, 4 sports in high school etc. That was over 20 years ago now and I'm 6'6 and weight 300lbs at 38. I still think I can shred but I have so much weight now that it's hard to bunny hop and do everything. I'm working hard doing climbs and just putting miles on. Dropping some weight. Keep pushing yourself and sweat every day.
I'm right there. The sad thing is I've been active all along. There are some"darker forces" at work, but I'm not going to let them stop me anymore. It's too fun to ride bikes, so we're just going to have to push through.!
Thanks for the encouragement! And praying you continue to have a great year riding! I'm just looking into getting biking as a way to help get me back in shape as running got to be too much for my knees a couple years ago and I gained 60lbs... 6'5" and 320lbs today.
As another large (300lb) rider, I have a slightly different perspective. Although I appreciate an encouraging attitude, I'd rather just be treated like any other rider. When strangers say things like "Good job" or "You're almost there" it feels condescending and like I'm being singled out. They wouldn't say that to a slim rider. All I ask if for a friendly smile and just treat me like everyone else.
I guess it would be a little of both for me. I've gotten some interesting comments over the years. As a rule, I'm generally an encouraging person, so I'd rather see a little more positivity. Especially when I'm getting comments from people I don't know. My friends, however, have a relationship and can be more "real. "
What a great idea love ❤️ it ? I am a big guy as well but I live in Alabama so keep riding never give up keep encouraging others always and God bless oh yes I had a heart attack and have copd so I feel you but this year I going for Emb to get up the hills and ride further! Again keep the faith!

What’s bigger than a Clydesdale? Because right now that’s me. 😒 I’m looking for a bike that will work for me but I worry about breaking spokes and shit.
I hear you about potentially breaking stuff. It will happen if we are bigger. I have not, nor will I let that stop me from living, though. It's just something we have to be aware of and prepare for.
@@MTBMichigan I’ve been looking at getting a Trek Verve 2 and having a wheel set built for me. Everyone I’ve talked to seems to agree the wheels will be the weak link on any bike, regardless of frame material or anything else. I’m not gonna let it stop me from riding, though. The weight has to come off somehow, might as well do something I can enjoy.
I'm a big guy, about same weight as you too. I do mountainbiking and road biking. I ride like 3000km a year but still stay fat. It's the amount of shit i eat... But still i have decided to keep on riding since i love it. I do ride enduro and DH style riding cause i love it. Even though many people say this size guy shouldn't. For me the eye opening point was when i accepted that i am slower than fit riders on flat trails and decided to get an E-fullsuspension enduro bike. Since then my riding style has changed dramaticaly on trails. You just cannot ride E-mtb without ripping and sending all the time :). So therefore my heart bpm has been a lot higher all the time for just riding and trying to stay on trail. Eventhough it's an ebike it is way better excersise for a big guy than just going slow with an normal bike. Love to see you smiling and enjoying your riding! And nice to see i'm not the only big guy on this sport. Keep on sendin! -Your fellow Clydesdale from Finland!
I am 400 lbs, a big ole piece of humanity! And I would like to start riding the trails near my home. However...I cannot find a bike in my price range. Any suggestions?
I'd look at facebook bike ads for used bikes. I did another video called bike check and the one bike. I go through if I had only one bike what it would be and why.
Yes ... First one you can buy at Walmart. not a bad bike and will take heavy riders. It is the Genesis it is a 29in wheel . Also it has a lot of spokes which give you a lot of extra strength. The wheels are made to take more weight. I think you're looking at about $139 if I remember right. They also make a 7-speed which is what I would go to if I was you. I think they are probably close to two hundred. That will get you in the price range that you were saying you wanted to be. However Google WORKMAN Bike company. They dont make MTBs. They make amazing bikes. All steal and made to order. Max speeds is 7. I had one of there bikes one time. There spoke are large gauge and hubs are hudge. I want a MTB so not going to them. To try a bike like they make you will spend at least 1200 and then go up. There bikes are 350.00 and up. 500.00 will get you a really nice bike. You can always find a used bike however if it's not made for heavy riders. You will be blowing spokes and hubs. I am 350lbs and bought a new specialized roll sport. Great comfort bike . Made for up to 300 so I am over some. I wouldn't go under that because and can be very dangerous. There are things you can do to help. Checking the true on the wheels and make sure the spokes are tight.
I've had cellulitis many times. I was in icu once with it. I was bad shape. Once you get it,you're prone to getting it a g ain. I started biking three weeks ago and just as I started to get into it, I caught cellulitis again. I just want to get better and ride. Thank you for your video, I believe The Good Lord helped put this on my feed.
I'm looking to get into riding. Not necessarily mountain biking but on paved and gravel trails. I'm look fir suggestions on bikes for a guy who weighs 320
Thank you for this series. I am just now finding this video, but it is SO nice to find others like me in the Clydesdale range. There are a number of rail trails in the area. Macomb Orchard Trail is one that I ride regularly. I usually use Labor Day to do something special for riding, so we will see.
When I left active duty in 1990, I was at my peak. I weighed 220 and was solid. Stayed that way for several years until my own medical problems started cropping up. I think those skinny 160 pounders could be considered Arabian or mustangs. Thoroughbreds 190 to 230. Maybe Morgans until 275 or so. Clydesdale after that. I haven’t been able to ride in 10 years but hopefully will be able to soon.
Hopefully you'll be able to. I'm impressed at your horse knowledge haha! I am down about 100 pounds since this video and know two things. I'm still considered a Clydesdale in cycling circles and I'm still bigger than I want to be. I guess I know three because I'm glad to be rid of the weight I have lost and feel so much better.
Your inspiration. I'm a 400-lb rider. 6'6 Football player LOL. The problem I have been facing is I break parts off of my bikes. last week I just broke my spindle(but the bike was a 17 in frame). I found a bike that's a 22-in frame fat bike. Would you suggest a crank set? That would be strong enough for me. Also a saddle, and a seat post. I primarily ride fat bikes. Anything in terms of tips would really help. I'm buying a new bike and I'm trying to see if I can turn this bike into my daily Rider trying to do 26 miles. Just can't have any breakdowns anymore LOL
I hear you about breaking parts. Us bigger folks will have that problem. I'd probably look at a crank set. I just have to do some research. As for seat posts, I run Bontrager droppers. I run them because of warranties and ease of access with local Trek dealers everywhere. Saddles, I like SDG Belle Aire series.
I will get to those things. They are very similar to how smaller riders do it, but there are a couple of things I've learned to help keep safe while doing it. I've had to step back a bit due to the long recovery and won't really be jumping anymore for a while. Right now its enough to get pedaling again.

Rob hi, I am like you buddy, heavy rider (286) and I have been searching a LOT for a full suspension bike, I live in Yucatan so my budget is limited as economy here in Mexico is very bad, so between the $2000/2500usd what full suspension bike do you recommend? Thanks in advance and cheers from the land of the asteroid.
The truth is that us bigger people are going to wear out suspension quicker than skinny people. That being said, I have found the Trek/Transition and Santa Cruz frame designs to be the stiffest in corners.
Hello Rob, I am about the same size as you and have been mountain biking around 8 years. I have had a carbon Stumpjumper 29, Epic 29. Ripley LS 29, I have been through a few parts. Wheels, frame, swing arm ect. I took my heartrate up to high at altitude, 197 bpm. I got Afib from that incident. So as you know its pretty hard to mtb and not take your heart rate up. Recently got a Turbo Levo and I am able to ride the trails and keep the hr down to 130 avg. Ok thats just a little bit of info. I am interested in your suspension settings. Did you have to get a custom tune shock? Is your bike plush? how much travel ect. do you find it hard to slow the rebound enough? What wheels have worked best for you. do you have 36 spoke wheels?
Hey, thanks for the comment. My 2019 Remedy 8 is totally sick st the moment. I did talk to rock shox about settings for my size and they ate very helpful. The Remedy had 160 front and 150 rear. It's been very plush overall. I hope the Afib issue oz cleared. At least you found a work around.

Picked up my 1st mountain bike today. I thought bike frames were for heavier people, I’m 260lbs i looked into frames & thought they were ok for heavier people. Hey man, youre such a big inspiration, im over 300 lb and i will start riding to, like to shred just as u do, but cant deicide if im getting a hardtail or a full susp bike. some say they will bottom out real easy. any thoughts about that ? regards rasmus from sweden
Well, they will bottom out. Try to find out what the max air pressure is from the manufacturer on an air shock. They will tell you if you call. I considered going to coil because someone can always make a custom spring. The other option is to go with a fat bike while bigger, because the tires really have a lot of adjustment with that high volume. I rocked mine just as much as my fs.

I’m 24 now but all through middle school and up until sophomore year hs I was really into bmx and dirt jumping and did really well but i just stopped for whatever reason but since then I’ve gained a lot of weight now I’m 300 lbs definitely a skinny guy in a big guy body. But I really want to mountain bike so I’m in the market for a bike that can take my weight trail riding without everything breaking when I take a two foot drop, any suggestion? Preferably under $1k
I did a video about it I could only have one bike. But recently I bought my wife a Trek Marlin 8. It was a little more than 1k, but worth the money for her. You can also look at used bikes in your local Facebook groups. Let me know what you find and how the journey is going.
Just bought a new bike. I’m a big guy. The PSI limit on my rear shock is 250psi but I still can’t get it within the suggested % of sag so it’s dragging on the floor. What should I do?
This one is a bit tricky. You will first want to talk to the service department of the shock manufacturer to see if it'll handle more. I've found that some will go up to 50psi more. The next options are aftermarket air or coil shocks.

What type of riding are you looking to do? If you're just starting out, or know you plan to ride primarily crosscountry, and are bigger, I did a video called bike check and the one bike that you might want to look at.
Hey Rob got a question for you I’m at 300+ pound rider at 6 foot four I was wondering which shocks you were using and are you bottoming out are youAny problems with your shocks I want to buy front shocks for my rigid mountain bike frame but everything says the adjustments up to 250 pounds. Is there any problems with the shock see you are using and what are they
I've been riding the stock shocks and forks on my Remedy. I had some conversations with Rockshox about about how to tune for a 300+ rider and that was helpful. If I had it to do over again, I would go coil on the rear and send the fork out to be custom tuned.
@@GuerreroGrows you'd have to work that out with the company you send your forks to for mods. I don't know current rates as it's been years since I got any custom tuning done.
I try to go firm and work my way up or down from there. I usually start at 40 and see how that feels. I always ran my xc 29 tires really high, but I was also lighter and in a race situation where I wanted fastest rolling.
Tricky question. I did a video about if I had one bike. We can discuss this. What type of riding do you want to do? How much do you want to ride? Those are some good starting questions.
@@MTBMichigan I cracked hardtail frame so got full suspension mega 290 frame and transferred all the parts just to realise that at 300psi I sit too low no one bike. I appreciate it.
I am looking to get into mountain biking. I am 6’1” and 345 lbs. Can you make any recommendations. I am not looking to race and have a budget of about $750-1000. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm 6'3" 385lbs and for the past year or so I've been doing extensive research on bigger riders what bikes to go for. I'm ready to invest a few thousand into a good quality bike and wanna mainly do full trail and some DH but I'm really afraid that my weight is to high for a full suspension. And I'm afraid to start with hardtail because I know as the weight comes off and I get better I'll wanna upgrade to full suspension. Does anyone have any recommendations? I heard going spring for your rear shock is more big guy friendly as opposed to air.
I would talk with a suspension maker like DVO to build a rear shock for you. I had a custom coil on one of my bikes when I was bigger and it was a big plus.
@@MTBMichigan I'm looking into getting a trek top fuel 7 SX. It's a much bigger bike built for Enduro but has downhill in mind. It's 3 grand and comes with a pretty nice rockshox super deluxe rear air shock. I talked to the trek dealer near me and he said as long as I'm not sending huge drops, bottoming out Everytime. start off sticking with light trail and some DH he said then I should be fine with this build. It's rated up to 300 lbs. I don't plan on using this at parks or anything. Just some cross country and all trail. It's got some beefy tires and wheels on it and the guys at my local shop are willing to convert me to tubeless and throw on some cushcore at no extra charge for added stability. They seem to know what they are talking about and if this bike can hold me I don't mind investing the money bc I know I'll eventually get better and trek warranties their bikes for 10 years
Hopefully you got the 2 challenges. Who is with me?

I totally agree with this. Get it and enjoy life!

Thanks for the video! I have been shying away from group rides for the same reason. I am in on the Fat push challenge here in Washington.
Awesome! Let's go get some!

@@MTBMichigan thanks! I definitely will!

I'm a big guy, about same weight as you too. I do mountainbiking and road biking. I ride like 3000km a year but still stay fat. It's the amount of shit i eat...

Have you ever tried riding dirt bikes in the trails it's a lot of fun
I wouldn't ride them on mountain bike trails.

Totally get the self conscious thing about climbing uphill. I'm always so much slower if I ride with friends and can be super discouraging. Also why I prefer riding alone or just with my dog! :)
Yeah, I ride alone a lot. But, sometimes it is nice to ride with some friends.

260 lbs here. thoughts on rear air shocks? Max pressure is 300psi, but the sag is >30% at 300 psi. Which shocks have higher max pressure? Or is coil the only answer?
I'm around 250 now. I was running air shocks all along my journey. I used volume spacers as I was bigger.
I'm 6'4 300lbs thinking about buying a cannondale cujo 2 27.5 any thoughts ?

Hey Rob, what forks do you recommend for a big guy.. I have a 26" mountain ebike
Depends. Tell me more.
@@MTBMichigan Thanks for the fast response, yes I think I am going to stay in my original plan with a Trek Roscoe 7, 27.5 plus tires
@@MTBMichigan thank you for reply. yes the doc was able to shock my heart back into rhythm. my bike has a 150 travel front and rear. my sag is set to 30 to 35 percent. Rock shox deluxe select+ psi 230 i am about 290 did you pull out all volume spacers to get yours plush? Are you running your stock wheels? I am thinking about getting the Hunts enduro wide wheels for my spare pair. i think they are 34 mm id wheels 36 spoke rear. have you had to build a custom set?
@@pappat4674 I still have the spacers in right now but want to play with them a bit. I still have the stock rims and have been impressed with their performance. If I keep riding more dh oriented stuff I will build a set at some point.
Great video, I found a good group of friends which are smaller than me but they support the fact that I'm out here keeping up so if you can find a group like that then ur in good hands

I'm 375 pounds.... 42 years old and getting back into riding.... wish me luck
I've been up there. You got this! Keep it safe.
Picked up my 1st mountain bike today. I thought bike frames were for heavier people, I’m 260lbs i looked into frames & thought they were ok for heavier people. But the bike I bought I am at it’s maximum weight limit. So I am hoping that I will lose weight while riding. Let’s see if I see other riders helping me out. But I’m more than happy to do it by myself.
Just ride and enjoy. As far as other riders, talk to your local bike shop and connect with some group rides.

I prefer hardtail, 27.5+ tires. Ive had full squish and i didnt have issues bottoming out. BUT, I don't do jumps or drops either.
What is a comfortable bike seat that can handle at least 250 pounds without falling apart?
I ride the SDG Bellaire on all my bikes
Hey Rob I'm a big guy as well, I was wondering have you ever found any protective gear that will fit bigger people?
I've used Kali with good success.
@@MTBMichigan thanks brotha and keep up the good work, it's hard but eventually it will be worth it, I am trying to lose weight as well, and I just like to right bikes lol

Thanks. Honestly, I can't find a bike that I could technically ride... I am a little bigger than most brands suggest. That being said, I ride anyway. My current bikes are from Trek. This is a tough one to answer. Budget, riding style, location, etc. Can all fall into play here. I was looking at Yamaha full suspension ydx Moro.
I have up to $6000 to spend. I ride the same type trails you are except im in East Texas
@Scotty Waller slot of local guys have the Specialized Levo. A few guys around here have the Vitus. They both rode nice to me.

Mostly at Aerotech.

I was 350 in this video. The Trek Remedy 8 held up fine.
Im 300, but an athlete underneath lol i got used to the bike pretty quickly. Just wanted to know what bikes, or dimensions of the bikes is good for a big guy. Im 6ft tall

@@MTBMichigan I watched that. That bike is nice, abit too much though. Mostly on road, commuting maybe some rail trails nothing like what your riding.

Rob Elliott - MTBMichigan I have a rigid frame Surly Krampus so you have to send out the forks to Built up what’s the cost on that?
@@GuerreroGrows you'd have to work that out with the company you send your forks to for mods. I don't know current rates as it's been years since I got any custom tuning done.
i am 286lbs beginner mtb rider and have a question, how much psi you go on the tires 29?
I try to go firm and work my way up or down from there. I usually start at 40 and see how that feels. I always ran my xc 29 tires really high, but I was also lighter and in a race situation where I wanted fastest rolling.
6'5 280, I love riding hard. Glad I'm not alone.
Nope. You're not alone!
Any advice on an affordable first-time bike for a big guy?
Tricky question. I did a video about if I had one bike. We can discuss this. What type of riding do you want to do? How much do you want to ride? Those are some good starting questions.
I am 350 lbs and 5.10 and I ride daily to work but I still get winded at 48 but now I wanna try mountain biking
Mountain biking is a blast!
I'm 186cm tall and 135+kg fat. At the moment I have 300psi in my shock and it runs down to 40%+ sag. What setup do you use ?
It'll depend on the manufacturer, but I ran 325 in my Remedy 8, which was ok by RockShox when I called them.
That being said, coil might be better overall for riders over 300 in my opinion.
@@MTBMichigan I cracked hardtail frame so got full suspension mega 290 frame and transferred all the parts just to realise that at 300psi I sit too low no one bike. Small curb causes me nearly to bottom out. I believe that I should get coil but I have no idea what coil to get (rate) but I'm sure I want to stick with rockshox 👍🏻
