    I’ve been getting my hair permed on and off since 2010 i’d say the last 4 years I’ve really learned how to maintain and upkeep it I find following the CGM has been the absolute best on making a perm last long at least for me I can get close to a year. The Shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil line is really good for chemically treated hair and that Cantu curl activator cream is my go to also!

    Thank you for making such a well researched, interesting, informative and enjoyable video. This is your best look yet - the curl pattern, distribution and curl size are perfect for your hair length, and the resulting texture works perfectly with your natural blond color! SO much nicer on you than straight hair, and longer length works much better than short! You look absolutely gorgeous!!!

The only part that could maybe be expanded upon is the perm process itself - maybe some footage of the piggyback technique being wound, with perhaps time lapse of the rods going in etc. You could also film how and when the different solutions are applied, as well as time lapse of the rods being removed etc. Just a few thoughts and suggestions for when you get your next perm done in 8 months time! @@KianaJens Hi, this vid just appeared on the suggested vids, so I thought I'd watch it again! I hope you are doing well, as it seems a while since I last saw one of your vids. How is your perm doing now? It's a good few months since you got it - are you due a new one soon? Did you look into the idea of some hi-lites any further by the way? You were toying with the idea last time we spoke if memory serves me. For what it's worth, I think they would be a nice addition to your curls that would look really good if you decide to go down that line! Aw you’re so sweet! With my hair- I actually canceled my next perm apt and am planning on letting my hair grow out super long! I also have been playing around with semi permanent color. It all seems super different and crazy but I just want to play at this point and see what I arrive at! As far as filming- I hope to film soon now that I am officially graduated. I was getting really burnt out the last few months and just needed to minimize my responsibilities (UA-cam and a few other things). But now that I have less on my plate I’ll be making videos. I’m aiming to start back up again in September!

      @@KianaJens Glad to hear you have graduated and are doing ok! The different colors sound fun, and it will be interesting to see in your upcoming vids. Are you planning to perm your hair again once it has grown super long? I REALLY hope you do, because curly hair suits you SO much better than straight - and NOTHING is cuter than super-long permed hair all the way down your back! PLEASE perm again it when it gets to that length, as it would be a TRAGEDY if you go back to straight hair!

    Your curls are the exact level of tightness needed for the length of your hair for the overall style to compliment your facial features perfectly! Put simply, you look amazing! Just a thought: have you ever considered doing a small number of cap highlights on top of your curls just to lift parts of your hair in color ever so slightly? This would further accentuate your curls and brighten your overall look. As your natural color is light it would require minimal lifting, and should do negligible damage. Would look great on you!

      @@KianaJens When are you planning your next perm? You could ask your stylist to put some highlights in a couple of weeks before getting it. Perm Formulas: ALKALINE ( traditional ) gives a FIRM wave or curl. Low pH ALKALINE gives a MEDIUM wave or curl or for Easy To Wave / Color-Treated Hair. NEUTRAL pH ( not actually Neutral pH - 6.5 to 8.5 ) gives a SOFT wave or for sensitized / Healthy BLEACHED or Heavily Highlighted Hair ( 50% or More ) ACID PERM ( all hair types ) for Curls, Waves or Body. EXOTHERMIC PERM ( Self Heating ) for FIRM, SPRINGY CURLS or LASTING BODY ( All Hair Types )
    Different chemicals are also used: Ammonium Thioglycolate (Traditional Cold Wave ) Glyceryl Thioglycolate ( EXOTHERMIC ) Ammonium or Sodium or Potassium Bisulfate ( Low Odor / No Odor Soft Perm ) Cysteamine Hydrochloride ( Damage - Free Perm ) some of these are better for color-treated, bleached, sensitized or Highlighted hair. Some are better for resistant hair or for a softer curl or just ‘Body’. Some are better if you want a perm that washes out after a set period of time. There are many options.

    I just started a process at my local hair salon to have an end plan to get my hair permed... to be told it won't be possible... I used spat ombre hair dye in my hair back in November and haven't done anything with it since, because they dyes (4 different colors) are still still in my hair... after my hair was washed and cut... they noticed my hair had a lot of damage (dried out and looked very unhealthy)... so I went back so they could do a treatment in my hair (never removing the hair dye I have still)... I was suppose to go back 2 more times next would be the perm and then a dye back to my natural hair color...she told me since I used splat I hair wouldn't be able to be permed... and for her to dye it, she's going to have to use a special technique to get the brown and light brown look I'm looking for. What or is there anything I can do to get the perm I want for my hair? She strained test my hair today before washing and treating it. The dye did come out, but my hair was brittle and just felt apart. PLEASE, I NEED SOME ADVICE!!!

    • @KianaJens
      @KianaJens  Рік тому

      Definitely do not perm your hair if it is damaged. If your hair is damaged it’s damaged and there’s not much you can do. If you perm it now it will fall out and you will have a bigger mess. Unfortunately, you will likely have to grow it out and wait to perm it. I’m sorry!!!

    • @momof2wi217

      @Kiana Jens does this mean with any regular dyes the salon might do, to correct my current hair color?

    • @KianaJens
      @KianaJens  Рік тому

      Color correcting is a big process, to my understanding. That will potentially cause more damage. Depending on how deep the color is they may have to take any color from the hair and replace it with a new color. This is deep in the hair shaft and causes loads of damage. My stylist told me it’s a really bad idea to perm that kind of hair as it also causes major damage. Too much damage to the hair will cause hair loss but also the perm will not turn out. It could be more stringy and frizzy rather than curly
