The parts that were straight are probably because the perm lotion didn't saturate the hair enough. Make sure your sections aren't bigger than the rod and really saturate the hair on the rod. Also, you don't need to dry your hair before the neutralizer, just a good towel dry will do. You can also add some product in your hair to help get through those couple of days. I know this video is old, but in case anyone wonders what to do to help with the issues you had. Your end result looked very nice. It really suits you.
I'm 72 now. When I was young the solutions were dabbled on with a flat brush, like a pastry brush, so that the hair was completely covered. Now it is squirted on which is lazy and inefficient. Pour the solution into a bowl and use the brush. That way you won't miss any hair.
Courtney, I've been doing my own hair for over 45 years. I'm by no means a licenced hairstylist, but having been doing it as long as I have, I have to admit I've been able to do a pretty good job doing it. If that's the first time you've permed your own hair you did a pretty good job on it.
I have been working up the nerve to do a perm myself. I have had the stuff for over 6 months, yours came out so beautiful, you inspired me to get on with it! Thanks for sharing.
Your such a gem! Yes! I did it and I'm very happy with results, my very first home perm on myself. Thank you for your video, you gave me the push I needed. It took me some time on the rolling, I took my time. My husband told me just go to the salon so I waited until he left the house so I did not snap at him for standing over my shoulder while I learned to roll my own hair, LOL. All in all it's done and I'm happy.
I've just seen this video today. Congratulations, you've done a great job ! And, on the other hand, you look gorgeous with your hair permed, it's been a noticeble improvement. Love it, Courtney !
You remind me of myself, like you won’t go to the hairdressers but when you do you make sure you come walking out of that hair dressers looking like a completely different person.
looks fab..I'm about to do mine.as for styling I use a mixture of foam mouse an conditioner mixed.or just conditioner an let it dry by itself but scrunching with my hand.keeps the curls crisp
Looks good 👍 ......been thinking about it myself for a while .......my natural hairs bit curly at back but straight at top.......hate styling my hair just like casual look......have to grow it a bit first ......but you've convinced me gonna do it .....although I'll probably get someone to do it 🙃 peace 💘 ✌& joy to one and all 💋 👋 from Scotland blessings
You’ve had some AMAZING hair!! You did that perm like you’ve done a 100 of them. That was awesome!! Nice job!! And it did look much better after the touch up. Yes, once you showered and put your products in your hair it would have looked great! But I get it, the point of a perm is to have curly hair with or without hair products. And to have stray straight pieces is unacceptable.
You can wet and condition it before 48 hours but you just can’t use shampoo before 48 hrs. Looks good. I’m amazed at how well you did by yourself! That’s hard to do!
You may have some bits that didn't quite take, but that makes it look more natural, I think. If it's perfect everywhere, it "looks" permed. Good job, girl! Looks great 👍
Due to Coronavirus Pandemic, circuit breaker. I'm need to perm my hair @ home. I saw your video & find is easy to perm. Look great & gorgerous. I want to know how you curl the back of your hair. My hair is shorter & needs to purchase all the products before I perm. Please advise.👍👏😊
U look a lot better w the curly hair when its short ❤ i love it thats kind of how my perm did last time then didnt hold at all! Trying to figure out what im doing wrong😊
Hi just new to following you I have just permed my hair too and I love it could you upload a photo of your permed hair before the one you showed on here I’m thinking of adding extensions to mine Thanks 💕
I know this video is old but if you have dyed or chemically treated hair in any way you have to use a perm for chemically treated hair so it doesn’t damage it more
I just got my first perm.. Miss calculated on the curler size and so not what I wanted but lesson learned I should have went up in curler size. Walmart did it and the lady wasn't very helpful and i needed a better stylist than her. She wasn't into hair or at least fine hair and she shouldn't have been there but im to nice to complain and figured someone else would so oh well. Ty
It looks gorgeous. I want a perm but I'm scared I will damage it. I bleach and dye my hair alot. Which one you think is more damaging bleaching hair or perms.
Thinker .fary That is exactly what I was planning on doing too. I figured it would be easier since I'm already naturally curly I just want my hair to be consistent. But like you I also lighten my hair and add other colors. Pretty often. I don't know if the perm stuff would melt my hair off
Yes perms are a lot more damaging and please please please don't perm your bleached hair. You are directly getting a chemical hair cut and you hair breaks.
Perms aren't more damaging then bleach. Just wait a few months before perming. Thats all. Bleaching is so much worse for sure. You can fact check this with other hair stylist or a simple Google check.
My hair length same as you are I would like to learn which direction your rods go the video went so fast snf after the hair are all rolled it is impossible to tell .Will you please draw a diagram where each sections of the hair go, Much thankas
You need perm rods, perming papers, a spray bottle with water, a plastic cap, strips of cotton wool, perming solution and neautralising solution. I bought all of the products which I used in the video from Salon Services which is the comercial version of Sally’s so they should sell it all at Sally’s too! Xx
You know why you missed sections? You squirted sporadically vs 1 by 1. I wouldn't be surprised the top front didn't break off. You strapped the band down tightly plus rolled backwards. You should for the most part roll with the grain.. your hair falls forward... you roll forward. Anyhow, dbl perming? Lol. Melt city.
I only saw her roll the top . She did not show he rolling anything else! I would still go to a professional to get my perm , to get a proper roll and timing
Her finished product is beautiful..... and that was the whole point of HER VIDEO!!! To show people how to perm their hair at home, like she clearly desired and titled her video home perm before during and after! It didn't say people who want to go to a professional for their perm duh seriously by the way who asked your opinion? LOL😂 So go be bougie somewhere else!!!!🤭 Or here's an idea, how about you make a video like this girl took the time energy and effort and actually did a amazing job explaining the whole thing and that was what she made the video for. To show people that they can, and, or how to do a perm if they want to, ON THEIR OWN!🙄 here's a good idea why don't you make a video , and title it, in case you want my opinion , as you so gave yours so completely unwarranted.,... "she did not show her rolling anything else!!!. Blah blah blah. I would still go to a professional to get my perm to get a proper roll and timing!!! I'm bougie as hell and I'm trolling people videos just to say my opinion that nobody wants to hear!😂 That's a fantastic title and then other idiots who have no business watching a video if they're just going to f****** troll and comment like she did something wrong when she actually did an amazing job. I would like to see you try lol oh, by the way when you make your own video and show us all something that's informational and tutorial! I'll be waiting for your Fabulous professional perm video!

Great Tip!
Thanks for sharing!
I have naturally curly hair and
Reverse Perm my hair to control the curls and frizz.
👍
That’s what I still do. I first put solution onto my hair then I roll it up. And I never use the paper thing these stylists use.
Great job!!! Looks beautiful!!!
Stop granny
Flat brush? Like a painting brush?

I am a stylist & you are right.
Love love love the perm xxxx curly hair really suits you so you got the best of both worlds xxxx
Do you remember what brand of perm
Solution you used xxx
She said “I grew my hair out and then chopped it because that’s what I do”. 😂*laughs in Gemini*
This is so accurate 🤣😂
Literally LMAO
I have been working up the nerve to do a perm myself. I have had the stuff for over 6 months, yours came out so beautiful, you inspired me to get on with it!

Sorry I have just seen this comment!!!! Yay go you!!!!! I’m glad you plucked up the courage to do it!! Perms are great!!
How did it turn out?
Brilliant perm and result, if you are not a hairdresser you are to be commended on your sectioning and winding of the perm.
Thank you! I’m not a hairdresser so thanks haha! Xx
I've just seen this video today. Congratulations, you've done a great job ! And, on the other hand, you look gorgeous with your hair permed, it's been a noticeble improvement. Love it, Courtney !

Hahah yep!!!!!
Yep me too.

A great demonstration of perm hair at home. I going to try it, too.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes x
looks fab..I'm about to do mine.as for styling I use a mixture of foam mouse an conditioner mixed.or just conditioner an let it dry by itself but scrunching with my hand.keeps the curls crisp
Cute and professional looking. Love your courage!
All your hair changes look amazing!

Looks great!! Question for all you experts! Why wouldn't you saturate the hair before rolling?? Thanks in advance! x
This is the exactly the same thing that happens to me when I've done a home perm. Random straighten bits
I’m late but this happens to girls with naturally curly hair too lol
You’ve had some AMAZING hair!! You did that perm like you’ve done a 100 of them. That was awesome!! Nice job!! And it did look much better after the touch up. Thank you so much xx
Please do more vids! You make me laugh with things you say, I love this look its so cute
Aww thank you xxxx

lol the reaction though 😂 but your video makes me so excited! That’s a lovely hair can’t wait to perm! 🥰
Curls so work for you .. who knew perms look so good ??!!
Hahah! Thanks! Xxx
You can wet and condition it before 48 hours but you just can’t use shampoo before 48 hrs. Looks good. I’m amazed at how well you did by yourself! That’s hard to do!
Thank you ❤️

Looks so good! You’ve given me the confidence to do mine tonight I’ve had all the stuff for a while x
Thank you so much! Did you end up doing it?? Xxx
Due to Coronavirus Pandemic, circuit breaker.

Wow I'm impressed!!

Hi just new to following you I have just permed my hair too and I love it could you upload a photo of your permed hair before the one you showed on here I’m thinking of adding extensions to mine Thanks 💕
Great job! Suits you so much better with curls! Hav you re-done it since?
I know this video is old but if you have dyed or chemically treated hair in any way you have to use a perm for chemically treated hair so it doesn’t damage it more

Thank you! Xxx
Well done!
Great job! I really like it.
Sorry for the late response! Thank you! Xx
i think it’s cool that you did this on short hair, i was worried about getting it done because i don’t want to look like bob ross :|
I just got my first perm.. Miss calculated on the curler size and so not what I wanted but lesson learned I should have went up in curler size. Nicely done. ❤️ the look!
Thank youuuuuu
Very cute! You look great 🙂

Would you recommend someone with NATURAL blonde very fine hair to get a perm? I want one so bad.
Well done. You look lovely
Thank you xxx
It looked like your roll up was good. Maybe your hair dried before perm solution went on. It tends to roll off dry hair.
Can you do an update?
What's the name of the solution you have used? I'm trying to get one but I don't know what to look for. I like how it looks on you!! ;)
U get that line from having the rods on to tight. U want them u have a little bit a room to move so they dont make the line impression
My hair length same as you are I would like to learn which direction your rods go the video went so fast snf after the hair are all rolled it is impossible to tell .Will you please draw a diagram where each sections of the hair go, Much thankas
Thank you, you Rock!
Awesome👍❤
I need an update
Did you use acid or alkaline?
Super cute
I'm your 100th subscriber!!!
Love it
how many perm rods have you used?
I think I probably used about 50! Xx
If the solution runs it will straighten the rest
Update please courtney 😊👍
I wonder why for some the curls fall out? I washed mine immediately every time it wouldn't relax at all. I guess my hair is just weird.
I saw on another video that If the hairs already been chemically treated (dyed or bleached) that it might not take
Where are you from? Love the accent but you sound a bit welsh.
xx
I’m from the north west of england x
I love you
Can you let us know what items you used and where to get them pls
You need perm rods, perming papers, a spray bottle with water, a plastic cap, strips of cotton wool, perming solution and neautralising solution. I bought all of the products which I used in the video from Salon Services which is the comercial version of Sally’s so they should sell it all at Sally’s too! Xx
