For anyone wondering why the A7S iii chose to have 12MP, it's because as Matti said each individual pixel can be bigger which is what you would want because that means that more light can enter each pixel giving you that insane low light capability. Think of each pixel as a bucket, so the bigger the bucket the more light can go in it and then you can have some extreme good low light. The disadvantage however is that you lose sharpness the bigger your pixels are so it's a trade of between sharpness and lowlight capabilities.
If you are only a VIDEO shooter yeah sure.. or if you are both photo and video shooter but have enough money to buy a7r4 and a7s3 then yeah you should stick with Somy!! Colt Capperrune i agree if the photo use is limited to that.. but as a portrait or wedding photographer.. 12 mp is not close to being enough for photo work.. (goes without saying landscape photographers are not gonna think about this camera at all) so that leaves this camera with very few photographers.. the R5 and A7siii should not be compared at all cuz they are 2 diff things.. the only reason people are comparing them is because Sony wanted to stop the bleeding R5/R6 is doing so they added some “photo” features such as AF etc.. but this is not a photo camera by all means unless we live in 2007 lol

Need to do a lot of research how bad R5 really is and what these limitations mean for my work. So therefor would love to hear as much from you Matti on the comparison of R5 and A7SIII.
alot, if the Camera(R5) stops working after 15mins or 20mins. you have to wait a few minutes until it cooldowns before you can open it. And it will give you a serious problem with your clients. That's only a few and there is alot of problem(disadvantages) aside from that. Think about that.

Will be interested to see what they do with the A7 IV... hope they bring over the flip screen, new menus and new color science, in a bit more affordable of a package.

The reason editing is difficult is because nvidia only processes 4:2:0 and 4:4:4....not 4:2:2. So if you use 4:2:2 the GPU isn't used and that bogs down the editing because it's all done with the CPU only. Shoot in 4:2:0 and you'll have no problems. I will say I am planning to get the R5, but the dynamic range truly is a game changer. That's one thing that for me is also very very important. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Matty!
@@mattih I'm mainly a Sony A7III video/hybrid shooter with a lot of Sony FE Primes and Zooms, I also use some Canon EF mount glass including the legendary 200mm F1.8L USM. I was hoping to get a good Canon Hybrid camera to use with the glass until I was given the reality of the photo and video Dynamic Range issues that Canon has been plagued with in DSLRs/Mirrorless let alone the overheating issues. I was possibly willing to deal with the R5's problems because of how sharp the images were but then the A7s III went beyond mine and my colleague's expectations. Video Dynamic Range is phenomenal, low light capability is what I needed for what I do on my free time (See Phillip Bloom's Vimeo Vid if you haven't) , and ProRes RAW was the cherry on top. So I'm willing to stick with Sony even if that means having to keep a camera for photo and a camera for video. Next thing you know the A7IV comes out it has 10 bit internal as well.

Go check out Daniel Schiffers You Tube page. He's the one that video'd and edited the opening sequence, and he does some behind the scenes stuff too.
“Don’t be dumb” is such a wholesome insult 😂
Great Video! We've totally enjoyed it! And we are impressed, that you're appreciating the new Sony a7 S III. We are curious: which camera did you use for shooting this video? The quality is awesome. Greetings from germany
Some may say I am questioning my choice to pre-order the R6.... those ‘some’ may be right 😅
Hahaha I think we’re all questioning and reconsidering and thinking and obsessing 😂
Ahahah true
2020 has me in a constant state of ‘rocking back and forth in a dark corner trying take in everything that’s going on not really understanding any of it’ -ness
"don't jump the gun" Matti always says the truth😂😂😂

Both of your videos on the S3 are very well done. Thanks for the great looking and informative content.
From Japan! I am a head of an international preschool. I use GH5 to shoot my preschoolers but I really reallly reeeeeeaaaaaly want this camera🤑
But you kinda dont need it. GH5 does everything you need and if you want to replace it then there are loads of difference, cheaper choices
AVIAN Thanks for the reply. You are right and I can’t afford a7s3 either but watching this video just makes me want to buy it😄
The intro here.... SO PRO DUDE!!
I see the intro I knew instantly Daniel Schiffer was involved
You are in correct track matti,
Good team,
Good energy level
Way to go.
I pre ordered after watching your video
below $4,000 though? Crazy
I will say I am planning to get the R5, but the dynamic range truly is a game changer. That's one thing that for me is also very very important. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Matty!
Matti: "There is no perfect camera"
Camera Conspiracy: "All I want is the perfect cameraaa"
Maybe one of the best and comprehensible reviews I have seen. Thanks for sharing.
Hoping Sony has a trade in special with the 7ar3
All I want is the perfect cam er a

My other favourite reviewer!
Hey matti what lenses did you use shooting on the boat?
That was beautiful B roll...Oh that was Schiffer? Makes sense.
He’s the king of table top/product cinematography 🙌🏻
Thanks for the review Matti. This was awesome 👌🏻💯

Ive been using the iphone xr to record my covers i think this would be a huge stepup😆
Bye Bye Matti's Eos R

That intro is so dope! Any chance for a tutorial? That was brilliant Matti 👌
4K, 6K, 8K or 12K...sounds all great but honestly, how much K can a human eye even see? I mean in there something like too much resolution?
I think i liked all those speed ramp transitions like maybe the first time I saw it. now I JUST CANT STAND IT!
Matti listening to Gerald Undone means that "He's crazy" like him?🤪

Nice you gave Gerald a shout out. He's really got some great content on his channel. 👍👍👍
I’ve always preferred Sony’s colors to Canon’s and their lowlight.
My pre-order is in! So excited!
I cancelled my Canon R5 to preorder for the Sony A7s III.
Interesting. Tell us what lead you to that decision?
Matti Haapoja he probably wants to use it for longer than 20 minutes.

If there would be a great RF to E Mount adapter, probably i would order both of them :D
Your post sold me!! Thnx for taking the time. U ROCK!! And great nod to Gerald Undone HAHA
No one is going to talk about the banding in every sky? look at @8:34 -
youtube does 8bit only, isn't this the issue? the conversion from 10bit during upload?
@@M4rs0 naw, it's not a youtube issue.
@@bWWd0 it looks like he proxied the files and then didn't reconnect before export. I dont think it's indicative of all a7sIII footage, but it's not right at all.
@@thefilmpoets it's definitely a UA-cam issue.
I saw your first A7siii video & it was AMAZING. Please upload it to Vimeo so we can see it without UA-cam compression!
