The DSG works better (faster) obviously, however, in the EU and 'Murica they have the manual Golf R which makes the results a bit closer than this suggests. Great content by the way.
People say not fair, I mean all competitors are not fair to compete with golf r at this point. Civic type r(FWD), Acura integra type s (FWD), mustang GT(not fair for golf r, v8 RWD and still lost)…. Some with more hp but too heavy, some are in the same price range(you pay more you should win, right?) I mean what’s a fair comparison? If golf r is faster than almost all his competitors, then just admit it then, some people just like Toyota or Honda, they don’t care being slower or the ride quality then that’s their choice.
I drive a mk7.5 golf r dsg. Dsg trans are always gonna be king when it come to shifting. This race is so unfair. Cannot compare dsg trans to Manuel trans. Make it even and race both in Manuel trans
I feel like the manual would still win by a hair. But I would be curious if they put the GRC into ‘expert mode’ which turns off most of the granny stuff and then used the imt option which helps with losing power during shifts.
Nope… when the other manufacturers decide to step up their game and option their cars with a DSG then they can complain. I purchased my mark 7 and 7.5 with a DSG for a reason. I wanted to club these wanna bes. I’m willing to bet they raced that GR in econo mode. I didn’t hear launch mode.
Personally out of these 2 i would take the GR thing is impressive. It also costs like 10k less in the states. The AWD system is tunable and it has rev matching.@deezmacnutz3400
320hp plus for sure as we all know golf with 420Nm DSG Vs 300hp Corolla with 370Nm manual. Both four wheel drive. I think it's not fair. But I would still choose Corolla.
GR Corolla never really stood a chance even on paper, It's just a wish that most people wanted it to rival Golf R hoping it would give it a round for its money, GR Corolla is very nice and all but it can use a different gearbox and a little more kick in the power.
Curious if the Carolla was put into expert mode and not the 60/40 split that was shown on the dash in the video. It’s a good difference without the limiters and traction control
What would have been a more compatible race is, if we had the GR up against a manual transmission golf 8 gti, I day more compatible in that while the GR is AWD and the gti isn't, the gti has a larger motor, greater displacement in its 2.0 litre 4 cylinders...
When the drag race started....the corollas jerky movement for a second there...isn't it a manual?? Where the golf just took off smoothly and there's no "jerky" movements to it... It has to be either DSG or auto 🤔 right??
I would be interested in seeing a dyno of the two cars, in stock form, to see which one of the two is closer to their publish HP and Torque figures taking into account drivetrain losses.
The faster car won but to me automatic cars are just boring to drive. Definitely would of been closer with a 6,000 rpm clutch drop but whatever, I love driving my GR Corolla! Way more fun than my previous Mustang GT automatic
Toyota Fanny boys the driver in the GR can change gears faster than the speed of light and that GR is still going to eat some gaps! Just accept that the Golf R is far more superior
Car throttle did a more diverse test golf r won both although the rolling race was much closer. They also did a track run and gr won by quite a bit. They also used both manual cars. There was also a older sti in the race which lost to both. It's really impressive from a corolla as Toyota hasn't done anything good with the name for a long time.
If one spends the price difference on a little 200k tune-up for the GR so that they both cost the same price as they stand on the line next to each other….the GR would win all day long.
I have updated the information by reviewing the source. Be careful, there is information on this fire platform about some Toyota Corolla GR models, with total loss of the vehicle. The warranty has been denied in both cases by the manufacturer Toyota and by the dealer, due to poor handling, they supposedly allege that the established warranty does not cover driving the vehicle above 85 Mph speed, the same speed that is defined in the Vehicle manual, be careful, be careful. I only report what I remember seeing on this same platform, if there is a difference in the data I report, look for it on your own, but I do remember the GR version well. Look for the video as: The Burned Toyota GR Scandal / #alcorte #noticias #news.
The only competitors of the Golf is the BMW M135i M, Audi s3, Mercedes A35 or the A45....not Toyota no way and never, if its Toyota then its the Supra. By letting a corolla in that race, you were just embarracing Toyota.
How can you compare 2 litre engine with 4 cylinder with 1.6 litre engine with 3 cylinder, that’s not a fair comparison, Honda type R could win against Gold R on the long race.
Of course, you will see a lot of aftermarket support for a short while and then fade off the same as the limited production FRS. It's still trapped in the 11's while a Mk7 R has been in the 8's now.
corolla top speed 230km/h,, golf r top speed 250km/h (limited)!!!!!!,whats the surprise .Theres videos of manual vs manual ,same result.2010 model polo 1.4 gti top speed is 230km/h .golf8 clubsport 272km/h ,so pls dont be surprised,GR yaris /corolla dont feature .deal with it .its a little fun car.not a complete car.Theres reaons why highway patrol dont drive gr toyota's......its for children or grown ups that never had toys .only 28 gr yaris was sold 2023.
Give the Corolla the same BHP and an auto box. The Golf is boring to look at also. Maybe race a new 300BHP GR Yaris Auto against this Golf, and see what happens 🤔
A DSG Golf R vs. anything in the compact performance class isn't a fair fight. It'll dust literally everything.
A43 4 matic smash Golf easily
@@yoshimurajdm You mean A45? Well of course, that one is much more expensive
On a straight line yes but circuit or track I doubt
The DSG works better (faster) obviously, however, in the EU and 'Murica they have the manual Golf R which makes the results a bit closer than this suggests. Great content by the way.
"The Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R will no longer be offered with a manual transmission after the 2024 model year."

Everyone saying the gear changes were trash. Even if they did a 40 roll, the GR wouldve lost.
I drive a mk7.5 golf r dsg. Dsg trans are always gonna be king when it come to shifting. This race is so unfair. Cannot compare dsg trans to Manuel trans. Make it even and race both in Manuel trans
The golf r manual still wins against the Corolla
Manual golfR will fk that toyota shit even harder 🤣
I feel like the manual would still win by a hair. But I would be curious if they put the GRC into ‘expert mode’ which turns off most of the granny stuff and then used the imt option which helps with losing power during shifts.

You mean the car with more HP, torque, and the faster shifting transmission won? Weird.
Don't forget a bigger engine too
Not to mention the R is AWD
@@2LT-c8q n Corolla is AWD, but a problem is a small engine 1.6L vs 2.0L, n DSG transimision n GOLF R is Perfect i thot
😂 Seen this a few times on YT now... Same result everytime, it's so shocking 🤔
Personally out of these 2 i would take the GR thing is impressive. It also costs like 10k less in the states. The AWD system is tunable and it has rev matching.@deezmacnutz3400
The VW Golf has been the Best 😊 Hatchback ever made. It's won more awards than any other Hatchback in the Automotive History.

Great competition... It was totally a fair fight! 😂 🤣
And which car will be running still in 10 years with far fewer trips to the garage? The GR of course.
Unless ur nemtec racing 😬
Nah all modern cars are about the same regards reliability. Not the same as years ago when Toyota were thought to be bullet proof.
The GR already has serious reliability problems 😂
I've seen better and faster gear changes from my Granny driving her 92 Corolla
Won't help the Corolla get any less owned by the far superior R.
@BryceCzirr-jz7ju what are you yapping about when the power difference is only 14 kw
@@smlbeats9353 Try again.
GR Yaris - 257whp 265wtq
8R - 330whp 320wtq.
This is not a fair comparison, the Corolla has a 3 cylinder 1.6T engine vs the Golf R 4 cylinder 2.0T.
Ditto 😂
Who’s fault is that 🤷🏽♂️
I think once that automatic version of the gr corrolla comes out. It will be a bit closer race
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@brandona4687 you laugh but an automatic GRC is coming
It amazes me how people say " it's not fair " when Toyota brought a knife to a gunfight. 😂
Slow yo ta
I have a manual Golf R (MK 7) - it has 87 more HP than the GR Corolla thanks to a little APR tuning magic.

Dsg. Stop it 🤡
That GR drivers needs to be trained on how handle a manual transmission.
for the same power manual will always lose to automatic
@smlbeats9353 Same power lol. The R makes a lot more power.
Wouldn't have made a difference the golf r is just faster
@BryceCzirr-jz7ju I know. By eliminating power, I was making the transmission the only variable
Who is driving the corolla thatw as Terrible shifting and launch

A manual Golf GTi vs the GR Corolla might have been a fairer race.
Assume golf is dsg? Sounds like it.
There is no M/T Golf R in SA G
Well yeah these days can't compare manual to dct/dsg
Ain't the normal Gti the right opponent for the GR Corolla?
If one spends the price difference on a little 200k tune-up for the GR so that they both cost the same price as they stand on the line next to each other….the GR would win all day long.
Take that corolla back to the drawing board....a corolla is still a corolla no matter what 😅 nothing will defeat the dominance of the VW....period
Of course the DSG Golf R won… It’s insanely fast. I would like to see the manual MK8 Golf R vs the GR Corolla… That would be a close race
You guys didn't record the quarter mile times.

VW baby!❤❤❤
The 6MT Golf R would have dusted it too. The GRC is a huge disappointment.
Damn that was unexpected. Not that the golf won, but at that difference! But I would choose the GR Corolla, especially with the manual gearbox ...
GR fanboys be 😢
Would have liked to see the same transmission going head to head. But Golf R should compete with Audi Rs3 not corolla
The GR needs an automatic gear box
Golf r still king of drag race,
You need the updated Yaris in order to beat the Golf R
Does anyone even drive standard? Corolla gear changes were on point!! I doubt anyone here could do better. A bunch of keyboard warriors.
Very bad gear changes on the Corolla
It wouldn't have made a difference
Toyota fans right now 😢😢😢
Give me that Corolla I'll drive it myself
GR Corolla anyday.....a manual transmission for the men out there
That’s manual vs manual, just imagine the dsg 😂. The golf r have better construction, sound system, better paint, better seats and still wins.
No that's a DSG Golf R vs. a Manual GRC. MK8 Manual Golf R was for North America only.
Another’s UA-cam videos put manual vs manual and the golf r stil wins
I think. Is the driver for sure 😂 I have the GR and if you shift the car so fast no make no sense like first gear go up to 60 ….
There is no competition here 235 vs 221 power and torque 400 vs 370 is a lot of gap obviously golf r going to win.
Hope in SA the TOYota isn’t near the price of the VW R lol.
More like gti competition.
Yes the golf r has more hp, bigger engine, more torques BUT these two car competes…
All you need now is a pretty purse to go with that auto transmission.
Just say you're broke lol

DSG vs manual ?
Not a fair comparison @carmag
No matter how fast you shift the corrolla it just cant keep up with the dsg
Not much knocks golfr of its perch ....at its price point obviously higher end cars ..
Toyota SA upgrade from the 3 cylinder 1.6 to atleast a 4 cylinder 1.8 or a 2.0 turbocharged engine please!
DSG is better, and you can see it in a video

we have seen alot of engine issues and overheating awd so prob yes...
the driver of corolla he is too slow to shift.. we need fast and furious driver..
Absolutely got spanked. Even if the " sacred" Corolla lol had a dual clutch. Slow....
