Loki is probably the best villain in the MCU. Tom Hiddleston is the GOAT!

Loki has the absolutely best character development arch in the MCU. The best of the best. Proper writing and proper actor.
Mjolnir is one of the most badass pieces of hero equipment. Right up there with Iron Man's suit and Cap's shield. The fact that it can only be wielded by someone IT deems worthy is pretty symbolic and awesome.
Not even superman was worthy until Thor died

You're one of the few that sees Loki's need for his father's approval. In Norse mythology, Loki was the god of mischief.
I think Loki is doubly upset; first that he was adopted. Second, that he was a frost giant, who was seen as a monster by Asgardians. That's a heck of a shock.
Darcy was a personal favorite.

I love Thor, it's very action pack, funny and dramatic. Chris Hemsworth makes his character very awesome
It’s interesting Kristen touches upon the theme of fatherhood and what makes a real father, since fatherhood is an important theme in the MCU.

Same, to me this film is criminally underrated.
I do understand that they clearly annihilated their budget on depicting Asgard effectively and the frost giant battle so they didn't have much to shoot in a decent location on Earth - but if you can be charitable about their limitations here you can see that Thor 1 is so much better than all 3 of its terrible sequels.
Thor is incredibly underrated! Its a good movie.
Back when Marvel really tried their best with every movie. They had everything to prove.

That's the problem though.
All films should FEEL as standalone as possible.
Constantly trying to push references and in jokes in the entire thing just ruins the experience and takes you out of the story for the sake of what is basically advertising on media you didn't pay to see.
I personally agree with you, but I think the use of the word "should" is a bit loaded. Movies should do whatever they want. There's nothing wrong with wanting to make a connected story, you just can't be surprised when it drops the amount of viewers you get.@@mnomadvfx
A lady I used to work with was dragged to see this by her young son. She was expecting to be bored because she hates movies like this. Then she saw the scene where Thor came out in a pair of jeans and no shirt and she decided that she could get into this one. When she told me the story she was fanning herself when she got to that part.

Nice reaction - consider what an amazing achievement this film is - after Iron Man, there was a question as to whether its success was a fluke, and Thor was maybe the most ridiculous character they could use as a follow up - he's great in the comics, but think about how easily this film could have fallen on its face - and the idea of hiring pop Shakespeare auteur Branagh to solve that was just genius, as was his use of Henry IV, his casting of the leads, his balancing of romantic comedy and epic, to show how to make Thor his own franchise - IMO Thor is what really launched the MCU

Or were you talking about the plot of the Shakespeare play Henry IV in Thor rather than Branagh's film adaptation of Henry V?
If the former I agree - I don't know that play specifically, but I definitely felt the Shakespearian tone of the plot, kind of like if Hamlet was actually about Hamlet the Elder and his brother Claudius and the latter had severe daddy issues which caused him to get Hamlet exiled by their father.

There are many times the MCU could have fallen on its face...Thor 1, Cap 1, Guardians 1. Even though Thor 1 and Cap 1 didn't break the bank, they still got good feedback and were able to keep the fanbase interested. I saw Thor 1 about a million times when it came because I thought it was outstanding. Then Captain America surprised me because there was no way in H they shoulda been able to make a good Captain America movie (infact I rolled my eyes when initially seeing its trailer and said "well they brought back Transformers and Smurfs so they gotta bring back Captain America"). Then it was Guardians 1 that showed that the MCU was here to stay. There's a whole story about how Warner Bros pushed back the release date of BvS as a result of Marvel dropping bombs in 2014 (Winter Soldier and Guardians). BvS was slated to open in competition with Captain America 3...but after seeing that everything Marvel touched turned to gold, Warner Bros was forced to push BvS away.

Awesome reaction Kristen!😊 I do love this movie i think its a great first movie for Thor having his powers taken by his father and sent to earth as a vain greedy cruel boy and learns humility and the true meaning of being a hero and Worthy of Mjolnir "Whosoever holds this hammer if they be worthy shall possess the power of Thor. Everyone is perfectly cast in this but off course we get one of the greatest MCU villain with Tom Hiddlestone as Loki and i love Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Rene Russo as Frigga I also love how magic in this movie is just science we havent discovered yet but it still feels like magic and theres still some lines in this movie that get me everytime! Keep em comin!

Pretty much how someone from the 1930s would see our time (internet, WIFI, video calling, etc) as either futuristic science or magic.

Iron Man 2 is a weak sequel IMHO, like most of the sequels save for Cap Winter Soldier which is by far my favourite.

Never noticed this discontinuity before:
They Thor sets out from the cafe after breakfast (or lunch?), goes about fifty miles west, and doesn't get there until after nightfall. How long does it take to drive fifty miles on an empty stretch of highway? This isn't downtown Los Angeles during rush hour.
Another great reaction. Love your energy and the great points you bring up during movies. I consider the first Thor to be one of my least favorites in the MCU, however I still enjoy watching it from time to time. Lots of great action scenes and funny moments. Can’t wait to see you react to Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger, leading up to the big one.

I didn't expect to like Thor. 4 phases later he is my 3rd favourite Avenger.

Interesting that you focused on Hercules since, in the comics he fought Thor and eventually became a member of the Avengers.
Thor has a very weird arc throughout the MCU but overall its one of the most entertaining. Without spoiling it though, Loki has an even better and crazier one (you definitely have to watch the MCU series too once you get to those)

After all these years, I now realized when Odin teared up in the Odinsleep, he teared up from his LEFT EYE, the eye that's supposed to have the patch. So weird to see an error like this.
Just because the eyeball is gone doesn't mean that the tear duct is.
