2008 is probably the best year for comic book movies. We had the birth of the MCU with the release of Iron Man and we also had The Dark Knight, arguably one of the greatest comic book movies of all time.

RDJ had been rebuilding his career the previous 5 years with smaller movie roles before he got iron Man but this one did make him into a much bigger star then before. Of course it didn't hurt that he did a little movie called Tropic Thunder that came out just a few months later and got him a Oscar nomination.
Marvel bet their whole company on Jon Favreau and RDJ creating an amazing movie. This movie did help RDJ get his career back on track. After all his issues he did a complete 180 and Mel Gibson underwrote liability insurance for companies to cast him. Clive Owen and Tom Cruise were main choices of the company but they turned it down. The company was reluctant to cast RDJ cause of his rocky past but it turned out great for all parties involved. Also the Burger King scene in this movie is a “thanks” for them saving his life. He had an epiphany after eating a Burger King burger and dumped all the drugs he had on his car in the ocean (must’ve been a huge party for sea life that night).
Glad you're starting this journey down the long MCU road. I always love getting to watch first time viewers' reactions to the movies I love. It's almost like getting to see them for the first time all over again by living vicariously through reactors. Looking forward to your next installment! Enjoy the journey!
She didn’t say she hadn’t seen the Avengers and all those other films she just said she’s never seen Iron Man specifically. She probably skipped around as most casual fans do.
Great movie. The one that started it all . The who Tony called Hugh Hefner is Stan Lee Rip. The who created most of the most famous superheros in Marvel like Iron Man. Look out for him in he appears on all the Mcu Movies until now. Also look out for the end credits in this movies. Don't forgot the end credits there can be more than one end credits
Glad that you’re watching Iron Man because you’ll love it. Also Kristen you are looking very beautiful today and you have such a great laugh it’s so heart warming !
The suit-up sequence from this film is by far the best one in the entire MCU. It really gives the suit that "Iron Man" feel, like you're putting on tank armor that can take a fuckin hit. The later suits just don't seem to have that same weighty feeling to them. Also, Ho Yinsen is definitely the main hero of the entire franchise, without him Tony would have never started on his own hero arc
I agree that the suit up sequence is cool, but part of Tony's continual upgrading of the suit is that putting it on and taking it off became progressively quicker.
I think Kristen and Steph and Kirk are genuinely honest in their reactions to movies and I enjoy watching them react to them so funny seeing them commenting on different parts the movies and they are a wonderful team when they pair up so keep up the good work guys we love all of you thanks for being so relatable and honest what you like and what you don't like about a movie Peace out.
Not trying to sound weird, just making an observation. You have beautiful eyes! Also, thanks for the reaction! This is one of the best MCU movies ever.
The thing that both the original Marvel Comics and the MCU movies got right was making sure to put an emphasis on compelling characters with real human emotions and weaknesses. It was a novel idea back in the early 1960's in the early days of Marvel Comics and it made the super-hero comics that they published stand out and make readers care and want to come back for more. As a comic book reader from way back, I'd like to shout out the original architects of the Marvel Universe - Stan Lee (writer, editor) and Jack Kirby (artist and co-creator of most of the original Marvel heroes we know today).
I absolutely adore reactions from Kristen. I am glad you loved it my daughter favorite was Iron Man too. Tony is such a deep character and Potts and Rhodes to. They are amazing together. I love that he told Pepper you stood by me all these years while I reaped the profits and now that I want to protect the people I put in harms way you want to leave." Good line along with, "I know what I have to do now." He stood by the old man's quote to him don't waste your life. :)

Great reaction. Fun fact. Robert Downey started studying kung fu, Wing Chun to be exact. He started martial arts many years ago. He has a Bruce Lee t shirt in one of these movies.
This was so faithful to the origin of the comic. The difference is it was Vietnam instead of Afghanistan. It even had him needing more time to charge the suit so the friend at the time caused a distraction which cost him his life.
My favorite of your reactions without a doubt, forgetting the movie the masterful way in which the soft lighting best outlines Kristen's strong features which are the nose and jaw, the perfect makeup and the less pronounced angle present your host in her best form. Quite enjoyable. She is a sun
Jadd J.AD.D. Jadd Kristen, you, Steph, Courteney and Jaby, are among one of my favourite reacters on this channel. Plus you're in for one amazing journey.
"You cannot help but like this spoiled prick!" 😂 but also that's EXACTLY what they were going for! A LOT of the script was written/rewritten/improv but they went with the general idea of: just because he's learned to do the "right" thing and had the Hero's Journey, it hasn't changed his regular character, and I think that's part of what makes it work so well.
He did build the heart device as you call it Yensen put an electrical magnet in his heart to keep the metal from getting in Tony’s heart. The Arch reactor in his chest he built in the cave
Also if anyone is wondering how the army found Tony after he escaped. The novelization of the film states that the army was watching the escape and went to investigate the landing site Tony landed at.
I still remember going to see this with my younger brother. We were like.. woah. .what the hell did we just watch? and then he end credit scene, we were like WHAT!?!?! WOOOOOO!
29:50 "Tony didn't invent the heart device, Yinsen invented it and Tony just made it better" Yinsen is the Wizard of Oz. He gave the heartless metal man his heart.
Incorrect. Yasin attacked a electro magnet to Tony's cheat to keep the metal shards out of his heart. Tony perfected the arc reactor his father designed.
yinsen just made a magnet, basically literally anyone can make it with copper wire and some metal attach with battery. the movie exaggerated a bit by making a hole in his body… and what tony created was a battery that has incredible amount of power, and that is impossible to make fiction stuff.
This is still my favorite Marvel movie, or at least in the top 5 before the MCU became a thing. I appreciate it more when I rewatch it and RDJ totally gives this role so much more.
I remember seeing the trailer for this in the theater and thought “oh that’s Robert Downey Jr. I might go see that.” Had no idea who Ironman was. Before that the last I saw RDJ he was on CNN in an orange jumpsuit suit going off to the klink.
