I don’t want to cry. It’s stupid to cry over a game but I have waited 10 years for this. Fell in love with the story and mystery held within Dragon Age. And now it just feels like it’s been destroyed. The story doesn’t matter to them, everything they built up to doesn’t matter. This is Mass Effect 3 all over again but at least I know now vs building up my fleet and then getting hit by that piss poor excuse of an ending. I believe Shepard was indoctrinated and my Shepard died. There’s no way for me to reconcile this.
I'm with you. My heart is completely broken after all these years of waiting and wishing. Seeing this upcoming monstrosity somehow feels worse than the decade of wondering if there would ever actually be a fourth game. At least in the "unknowing", you still had hope and your own imagination. This is just a nightmare you'll have to scrub or retcon from your memory in whatever manner is least traumatic for you. :(

I agree. IGN really isn't great at this. So far wolfheart and dantics have done a better job getting me interested and both of them have mixed feelings themselves about the game though I think Dantics may be the more positive of the two. Really should have dropped IGN, not doing them any favour's.

It does look like the press has boosted steam preorders a bit. I think it’s mostly the two you mentioned among others. IGN sunk the game to top 200.
I have a friend that its a "play for the story" kind of gamer, that gravitates to RPGs (always turns difficulty to easy, avoids combat, briefly obsesses over certain characters, etc). Basically the target audience for this slop. She said that the game looks ugly and has no faith in it, and was also upset it took them nearly a decade to produce this. If both AC Shadows and this flop it's gonna be another big W for gamers this year.
I'm ok with this game. It will burn millions of woke money and for this, me and my closed wallet are grateful. 2024 will turn out to be a heck of a money burning party with Concord, Outlaws, Shadows, Veilguard and all the other smaller games we saw be release and die within days. That's more then half a billion woke dollars up in flame and I enjoy this very much.
People shit on inquisition but I personally loved it, wasn't perfect but maybe it's cuz I played it before the other two and it was my first dragon age so after playing one and two I understand some of the hate but still think it was a great fucking game, the art work in this one alone already looks like a joke , qunaris look like dolls
@@jcfra420 DAI baited the entire DA:O fanbase into a regretful purchase, and it was released during a AAA RPG drought. DAI was a decent game, but its undeserved hyper-success was mostly based on favourable circumstances. Regardless, I think DAI was the last decent thing Bioware ever accomplished.

Yeah it has some warts, but I have over 1k hours in it. I can still go back once or twice a year and enjoy a playthrough. But I am not going to let people redefine history. It actually WAS a financial success, and grabbed multiple GoTY awards in 2014. When Veilguard crashes, it will be its own fault. They do not get to redefine history to make their failure seem a little less bad.

Anthem was developed at Bioware Austin. Dragon Age is done at the main studio in Canada. While they're both technically Bioware, functionally they're all-but independentstudios. It was the same situation with Arkane Lyon (Dishonoured 2, Deathloop)and the now-defunct Arkane Austin (Prey, Redfall).
Early impressions are out and it seems mixed. Wolfheartfps did not like it so it seems BG fans wont vibe with it. Skillup sent his editor instead of him so thats telling and Luke Stephens straight up liked it but again, he liked Star wars outlaws after 4 hour gameplay. To be FAIR; Baldur's Gate 3 companions are also all pansexual. The reason why Larian did it was basically because they wanted to let the player fulfill whatever fantasy they wanted in their own adventure, and I can respect that design decision. Personally, though, I prefer when companions have their own set sexual orientations (some are straight, some gay and a few bi/pansexual) because sexuality is simply a core part of who we are as individuals.

The sims is a great game, but its a utopian life simulator. Dragon Age is meant to be an RPG Adventure game and that's where the focus should be. But even the Sims has recently been ruined with woke politics even though most of it can be ignored or manually avoided thanks to the customisation of the characters and world.
I stopped playing Sims and uninstalled everything back when they decided to put breast scars on young girls. The series had already been drastically going downhill long before then and I would be willing to bet this guy pretending to be a woman had something to do with how terrible the game had become. I love, love, loved Origins and even the second one was okay for the most part, and I never bothered with Inquisition and I'm not planning to ever bother with this latest one. Nothing whatsoever sounds appealing at all, and so, meh. I may not be a white male, but this game is most definitely not for me either.
I'm sorry, if you think Baldur's Gate 3 put a lot of love into the character creation, you utterly did not pay attention to it. That was one of the worst, and worst received, aspects of the whole game. Seven whole faces to choose from because the devs thought that the faces players made when they had a customizer were "boring". The character creator in that game is absolute trash. Oh, but it has genitalia and vitiligo sliders, so that makes it all okay.
As much as I adore BG3 I must agree that the character creation is not as good as I expected/hoped it'd be. If there's anything positive I can say about The Veilguard now is that its character creator looks a lot better. I don't, however, buy the argument that due to players making "boring" looking faces Larian decided to give us a set number of pre-made face options instead of sliders. That sounds dumb to me. If I had to guess why they did it was either due to technical limitations and how customized faces may look and animate weirdly during cutscenes, or because they decided that focusing their time and resources on more important things was more sensible. But if you can cite me your source I'll check it out.

I dunno if this video was pre planned or what but the first 2 minutes are absolutely bs now after the previews have come out around an hour before this one. Already invited reviewers have pointed out that choices make extensive impact on the gameplay to a point where you might not even have the same zone or the area looks and feels way different because of the choice you made that effected that entire area. Just hating on the game for the sake of it isn't right. Praise should be given when studios do things right. People were concerned about the combat in the game they revealed gameplay showing late game content. People were concerned about the linear zone from the trailer, they revealed more gameplay to show that even tho it's not open world there is enough openness to explore it. People were concerned about performance, they got steam deck approved 2 months before release. Every single doubt people have had has been addressed as long as they are already addressed in the game. Now you can't ask them to completely rehaul everything. But i don't even get why should they rehaul when everything actually looks really good. yeah it may be more for a bigger audience instead of the closed DA fanbase but that is something you have to live with. AAA studios can't get away with catering to a very specific fanbase these days especially when they are under corps like EA. And DEI is not bad. DEI is only bad if it is done just for the sake of DEI. If there are proper stories crafted. Proper depth given to charcters. Like BG3, lIke Cyberpunk and more... Then DEI is not even a factor. And as more and more has come out about the game the less likely it seems that DEI was done just for the sake of it. Even now after previews many people have vouched for the characters in the game being pretty good except maybe a couple. I dunno how you can just ignore so many positives coming out from trustworthy sources. Not Ign, kotaku and etc. But youtube reviewers we believe in and instead believe these react channels like asmon etc. who have a very bad history when it comes to opinions. I thing the gaming community is being heavily influenced by politics with is just sad. I get that you dont want the extreme left to ruin your game but to brainlessly hate anything that has the slightest touch of it is just idiotic behaviour.

I just watched Wolfheart FPS's review. Forget everything about character design and DEI. It's far worse than that. The game will hold your hand during exploration and puzzles, everything is glowing. There is no challenge. And the visuals during combat? The parts he showed in his review, by the Nine Hells, it is a bukk4ke gangb4ng of neon sparkles on your screen. Seizure and migraine inducing! Absolutely atrocious...

I just watched WolfheartFPS's video where he gave his impressions of the game after playing it himself and as a fan of the franchise he was conflicted. He doesn't like the fact that the game decided not to embrace its more complex CRPG roots of Origin and instead simplified the game pretty much in all aspects. The ARPG style dumbed down combat makes it look like a mobile game, and he even compared the combat to an actual mobile game in the video. The art style is not to his, or my, taste either. The exploration (although it could be because it was the early-game areas) didn't seem to have much room for exploration and with every interactable and items you can pick up glowing so much there isn't really any challenge when solving puzzles (which are not really my favorite aspects of RPGs anyway). I could tell that the amount of roleplaying you get to do via dialogue is going to suffer as it always will when the player character is voiced. The story seemed intriguing to him enough as a Dragon Age fan. The character creation, based on what I saw in the video, despite having cringe pronouns but at least didn't replace "male" and "female" with something stupid like body type 1 & 2, seemed really good with lots of options to customize your character. It seemed even better than BG3's, so it got that going for it. But overall, based on what I heard and saw in the video, The Veilguard is not a deep or interesting enough RPG for me, so I'm gonna pass on it. Even Wolfheart didn't think this is going to be his GOTY contender.
And then the devs didn't even know who Zevran is. Anyone who still thinks they'll be faithful to the lore... boy, do I have bad news for you! The lore was the 1% chance I might've still given this trash. Not anymore.
This is a nice breakdown of wolf's points. Though I will disagree on the role-playing point you make, that will just be a difference of opinion though. I'm Ina a similar boat to Wolf. If the story, world building and player impact are up to snuff I think I could enjoy this game. That said, even if it does that for me I don't know if it would be a GOTY contender for me.
I'm so tired of hearing people say "Oh it looks good the graphics are nice" FIRST of all. No it looks trash because this looks more like fortnite than Dragon Age. SECOND the characters are hideous. THIRD I see who is directing that game, and it's someone that should be defenestrated.
That is always funny to read because I know what Sims players and their hardware are like. If there is any overlap there will be tears because it won't even run on medium settings.
@@invaderjoshua6280 There aren't enough people like you to constitute an audience for a AAA budget title like Veilguard. This game will be heavily discounted just a few weeks after launch due to it inevitably flopping, so if you have some patience you could save a fair bit of money.
To be fair the fanbase is split. Don't think anyone has pre-ordered, but waiting to see the full game when it releases. Some have been prepped by inquisition to except this and being a bioware fan has kinda been a version of Stockholm syndrome with some of us shaking free after andromeda.
Meanwhile there are plenty of Facebook groups already made for Veilguard. I'm in a ladies only one with 20,000+ members so far, and there's new women coming in everyday.

Anthem was developed at Bioware Austin. Dragon Age is done at the main studio in Canada. While they're both technically Bioware, functionally they're all-but independentstudios. It was the same situation with Arkane Lyon (Dishonoured 2, Deathloop)and the now-defunct Arkane Austin (Prey, Redfall).
It's a real shame these clowns have ruined Dragon Age with all their lame DEI design choices, it's just too much to ignore now.
Early impressions are out and it seems mixed. Wolfheartfps did not like it so it seems BG fans wont vibe with it. Skillup sent his editor instead of him so thats telling and Luke Stephens straight up liked it but again, he liked Star wars outlaws after 4 hour gameplay. Dont preorder and wait for enough reviews from users. U cant trust influencers sadly anymore it seems. Word of mouth sells games nowadays

To be FAIR; Baldur's Gate 3 companions are also all pansexual. The reason why Larian did it was basically because they wanted to let the player fulfill whatever fantasy they wanted in their own adventure, and I can respect that design decision. Personally, though, I prefer when companions have their own set sexual orientations (some are straight, some gay and a few bi/pansexual) because sexuality is simply a core part of who we are as individuals.

People need to stop pretending DAI was one of the "good" bioware games, it wasn't. Bioware was already going down a path of mediocrity and had been for a couple years at that point.
Anytime I hear about a "her" involvement in a game that is not meant for women, not that women can't enjoy it, that's a problem. Games can be made for women, and games can be made for men. Men can make both just fine, but women do not excel at making things for men. It is a VERY RARE, nigh on unicorn, woman that can. Men should be making Dragon age because that is the audience for Dragon age. That is who it was made for.

She created Uncharted and when Neil Druckman took over the series for uncharted 4 he threw out all of her ideas for the 4th game and made the story weaker as a whole. The only reason that game wasn't on the level of The Last of Us part 2 is because they had already done a lot of work on the game before Amy left. I stopped playing Sims and uninstalled everything back when they decided to put breast scars on young girls. The series had already been drastically going downhill long before then and I would be willing to bet this guy pretending to be a woman had something to do with how terrible the game had become. I love, love, loved Origins and even the second one was okay for the most part, and I never bothered with Inquisition and I'm not planning to ever bother with this latest one. Nothing whatsoever sounds appealing at all, and so, meh. I may not be a white male, but this game is most definitely not for me either.

I'm sorry, if you think Baldur's Gate 3 put a lot of love into the character creation, you utterly did not pay attention to it. That was one of the worst, and worst received, aspects of the whole game. Seven whole faces to choose from because the devs thought that the faces players made when they had a customizer were "boring". The character creator in that game is absolute trash. Oh, but it has genitalia and vitiligo sliders, so that makes it all okay.
Yep barebones, plus all of those faces look absolutely terrible... they reek of typical western design, where everything has to be generic and ugly.
As much as I adore BG3 I must agree that the character creation is not as good as I expected/hoped it'd be. If there's anything positive I can say about The Veilguard now is that its character creator looks a lot better. I don't, however, buy the argument that due to players making "boring" looking faces Larian decided to give us a set number of pre-made face options instead of sliders. That sounds dumb to me. If I had to guess why they did it was either due to technical limitations and how customized faces may look and animate weirdly during cutscenes, or because they decided that focusing their time and resources on more important things was more sensible. But if you can cite me your source I'll check it out.

I dunno if this video was pre planned or what but the first 2 minutes are absolutely bs now after the previews have come out around an hour before this one. Already invited reviewers have pointed out that choices make extensive impact on the gameplay to a point where you might not even have the same zone or the area looks and feels way different because of the choice you made that effected that entire area. Just hating on the game for the sake of it isn't right. Praise should be given when studios do things right.
People were concerned about the combat in the game they revealed gameplay showing late game content. People were concerned about the linear zone from the trailer, they revealed more gameplay to show that even tho it's not open world there is enough openness to explore it. People were concerned about performance, they got steam deck approved 2 months before release.
Every single doubt people have had has been addressed as long as they are already addressed in the game. Now you can't ask them to completely rehaul everything. But i don't even get why should they rehaul when everything actually looks really good.
yeah it may be more for a bigger audience instead of the closed DA fanbase but that is something you have to live with. AAA studios can't get away with catering to a very specific fanbase these days especially when they are under corps like EA.
And DEI is not bad. DEI is only bad if it is done just for the sake of DEI. If there are proper stories crafted. Proper depth given to charcters. Like BG3, lIke Cyberpunk and more... Then DEI is not even a factor. And as more and more has come out about the game the less likely it seems that DEI was done just for the sake of it. Even now after previews many people have vouched for the characters in the game being pretty good except maybe a couple. I dunno how you can just ignore so many positives coming out from trustworthy sources. Not Ign, kotaku and etc. But youtube reviewers we believe in and instead believe these react channels like asmon etc. who have a very bad history when it comes to opinions. I thing the gaming community is being heavily influenced by politics with is just sad. I get that you dont want the extreme left to ruin your game but to brainlessly hate anything that has the slightest touch of it is just idiotic behaviour.

Let's be honest here, the devs already said they aren't making Dragon Age and it's "Not for you". I take that as a sign, a blaring neon sign, to ignore the game and have no need to bother because DA ended at DA2.

I just watched Wolfheart FPS's review. Forget everything about character design and DEI. It's far worse than that. The game will hold your hand during exploration and puzzles, everything is glowing. There is no challenge. And the visuals during combat? The parts he showed in his review, by the Nine Hells, it is a bukk4ke gangb4ng of neon sparkles on your screen. Seizure and migraine inducing! Absolutely atrocious...

I just watched WolfheartFPS's video where he gave his impressions of the game after playing it himself and as a fan of the franchise he was conflicted. He doesn't like the fact that the game decided not to embrace its more complex CRPG roots of Origin and instead simplified the game pretty much in all aspects. The ARPG style dumbed down combat makes it look like a mobile game, and he even compared the combat to an actual mobile game in the video. The art style is not to his, or my, taste either. The exploration (although it could be because it was the early-game areas) didn't seem to have much room for exploration and with every interactable and items you can pick up glowing so much there isn't really any challenge when solving puzzles (which are not really my favorite aspects of RPGs anyway). I could tell that the amount of roleplaying you get to do via dialogue is going to suffer as it always will when the player character is voiced. The story seemed intriguing to him enough as a Dragon Age fan. The character creation, based on what I saw in the video, despite having cringe pronouns but at least didn't replace "male" and "female" with something stupid like body type 1 & 2, seemed really good with lots of options to customize your character. It seemed even better than BG3's, so it got that going for it.
But overall, based on what I heard and saw in the video, The Veilguard is not a deep or interesting enough RPG for me, so I'm gonna pass on it. Even Wolfheart didn't think this is going to be his GOTY contender.
And then the devs didn't even know who Zevran is. Anyone who still thinks they'll be faithful to the lore... boy, do I have bad news for you! The lore was the 1% chance I might've still given this trash. Not anymore.
This is a nice breakdown of wolf's points. Though I will disagree on the role-playing point you make, that will just be a difference of opinion though. I'm Ina a similar boat to Wolf. If the story, world building and player impact are up to snuff I think I could enjoy this game. That said, even if it does that for me I don't know if it would be a GOTY contender for me.

@@invaderjoshua6280 There aren't enough people like you to constitute an audience for a AAA budget title like Veilguard. This game will be heavily discounted just a few weeks after launch due to it inevitably flopping, so if you have some patience you could save a fair bit of money.
To be fair the fanbase is split. Don't think anyone has pre-ordered, but waiting to see the full game when it releases. Some have been prepped by inquisition to except this and being a bioware fan has kinda been a version of Stockholm syndrome with some of us shaking free after andromeda.
Meanwhile there are plenty of Facebook groups already made for Veilguard. I'm in a ladies only one with 20,000+ members so far, and there's new women coming in everyday.
