@TheHeartThatRunsCold I actually think it's because of facial animations software that might be wonky on an entire qunari face, which is why inquisitions qunari are humanish too

Yeah holy shit. It's the difference between watching a journalist fail the tutorial of Cuphead repeatedly and someone speedrun the game with style! Other people's footage of the game made her look bad but this footage and footage of the slick animations of the orb and dagger mage weapon are head snd shoulders above. This combat's gone from looking mid to actually really sick. It's like a perfected next gen DA 2 combat system instead of a game that was rushed out ib 12 months with an awful wave combat system.
after the preview, I replayed DAI again and u guys know how painful the side quest and combat in dai. This makes me appreciate the Veilguard dev for creating this game combat
Yeah, I am currently playing DAI and the combat is so weird. It's slow and kinda boring. The Veilguard looks so much fun and responsive. I'm enjoying the story of Inquisition, but damn, I wished the combat was somewhat similar to Veilguard. It looks like they nailed it. I hope the story is good as well.
I feel so hype for this game. Bioware has always made for great dives into lore and character, and this game looks just like that but with more focus in its content and combat. That's a huge plus for me.
@@evilassassinking6419 I wouldn't even engage them. They're the kind of profile who only engages in toxicity but doesn't pause long enough to make a good, insightful, interesting, or even accurate point.
I enjoyed Origins, had too much, still do have fun playing DA 2 default Female Hawke. DA:I was too much of a fetch quest, good grief. This game has to have a solid story, Seriously. I’m going to wait..
TBF from what i saw from the combat this might be the first time i will play Warrior instead of Mage. Warrior always felt mega slow, wonky (especially in inquisition) but looking here at the parries, meaty hits, shield throw and so on actually makes me want to play one.
"You can dodge" that alone is what sold me on the combat. For rogue, especially. It was always so hard to defend yourself when enemies would swarm you since you didn't have a dodge nor the armor to protect yourself. The fact that you can also parry with every class is also a bonus that will especially be helpful when backed into a corner. I look forward to trying out the new combat system. It looks very fun!
I love all the info about this game and I should enjoy it on paper, but man the art direction is so... weird and flashy it really turns me off. I mean the blight looks so derpy now
In my mind, some of that art direction makes sense. Jayvee discusses this, but also the outpour of magic in cinema is generally expressed through color saturation and similar art direction and... that's a big part of the plot. Beyond that, thematic contrast is HUGELY underrated by cynics.
All the criticism so far has been about the visuals which is very subjective. Strip all of it down and if the game deliver what it promised it might be one of the better games of the past 3-4 years.
It seems they really tried on this game, I have high hopes. The art style isn't bad, I actually think it'll age better than realistic graphics. @@weirdbro6597
DAO doesn't have mmo combat. It has combat based on a computerised version of pnp rpg combat, particularly dnd. MMOs might have similar combat, but DAO didn't copy them.
I didn't say DAO copied mmo combat, it was a reference point. I grew up playing WoW so when I see auto-attack that's what I think of. I know that Origins did not copy WoW and I know that Origins is a CRPG
The thing is that if you read the books we know that darkspawn are always evolving, and the Demons are probabpy differemt because the veil is becomimg thinner. I like this new comic book art style
Well i truly hope this is not the new ME: Andromeda. I hope to be positively surprised. EA made me hate them with very few exceptions regarding game releases, maybe a few months after the release I will look into it again :) Btw - congrats to your position in the DragonAge Community Counsel 😊 use it wisely and i hope your voice will be heard
I don't think the problem with the visuals is that the game is not dark enough. Its the models and their aesthetic. Im fine with having different vibe from the different areas of the map but even in the footage you showed. Those cartoony models cannot convey any fear or distress. They cannot be taken seriously. Everything looks very censured in a sense. No blood splashes from enemies, no chopped limbs, No disturbing facial expressions on corpses. So this can be considered dark only by the underage audience. And what makes me sad is that the game looks like designed for them from aesthetic point of view but then the narrative and choices requires more mature mind to comprehend. And this is exactly where the confusion comes from. It just doesnt look cohesive.
Idk man, Origins combat was pretty focused to me. It's not just auto attack combat. Maybe its been awhile for you but Mage alone is so fleshed out on spells alone, not even getting into specializations.
I know this is personal preference, but the characters look bad, the mobs look cartoony. actually all the graphics look cartoony. I wish they had gone more gritty or at least more realistic. look at wukong as a reference of great graphics. and I actually like more open world. I will try this for sure. but my hopes are not up. I hope it proves me wrong.
Sometimes there are trade-offs to create a sprawling world, and Goku does have amazing graphics, but it's a linear game with only six levels. And if Dragon Age were developed using the same standards, the cost would be staggering
I had the chance to discover DA with Origins at launch (the physical PC copy, and its DLC Awakening, still lies on a bookshelf next to my desk, couldn't get rid of it through the years). While I share a similar feeling as most people in the gaming community about the evolution of the franchise, I'm really hyped for this new entry and it's a blast to see it coming back after all these years (15 since Origins). The art style doesn't throw me off at all. I think it has it's own personality, especialy with the awesome facial animations, plus it's in line with the evolution of the style through the past iterations of the franchise. While watching your footage, I was more impressed by the stares than the lips. They seem to convey a lot of emotions when the characters are talking, or simply reacting. For example, at 19:13 that stare is amazing. Looks like something fishy is going on, or Rook is inapproprietely staring at the bartender, but you can guess what's in the character's head without sound and/or context because the animations speak for themselves. I'm glad to see that Bioware seems to make the good decisions (community council for feedback) to get back as a trusted and competent team that we can rely on. Man, I really miss the golden age of Bioware and I hope this will help them to get back on track for further amazing titles (ME4 ? No, Andromeda doesn't count as 4 for me). It's also reassuring that you're part of that council, being able to share your thoughts with the team and have an impact (to a certain degree I guess) on the game direction and/or development. It's a preorder for me at this point, I'll give it a shot no matter what. Thank you so much for your feedback and keep up the good work !
@TheFuronMothership I used to like that guy but holy he's so toxic about this game. I think he even said he's never played dragon age before so he doesn't even know what he's talking about 😂

Some of us want to have a positive outlook and to be allowed to be excited. Some of you people get so nasty in your comments. It sounds to me like some of you just want to be nasty and critical and it doesn't matter what the quality of the game actually is.

They should have never removed the tactical wheels & Pause feature. Allow us to select party members. Visually the game looks good on its own, but it looks nothing like a dragon age game. Looks more like Dragons Dogma. Also not a fan of the redesign. Personally having seen the party, apart from Varric, nobody else seems "cool" to me. They all look like they come from the same club. Going follow this game on social but would rather wait for it on sale. Wish we could get the same tone as Dragon Age 1 and 2

Okay at first I was really worried They did a really bad job with their trailer because it did not look anything like how this preview I just watched. But after seeing this I'm a lot more excited.I can't wait to be an antiven crow rouge.I do like the combat And I was happy to hear about having many important decisions that affected gameplay That gave me hope.I'm going to try my best to go in With the open mind in a clean slate i want to enjoy the game if it's good. I can get over the art style i was just really upset with the dumb disney / Marvel kind of aesthetic they had in the trailer. But I'm glad the real game isn't a bunch of corny one liners. My only real problem with Inquisition Was the padding and the side Quest. If this game is more linear like he said it focuses on the combat and the story and not try to be a pseudo MMO I think I'll love it
This game looks a lot better then DAI I recently played through the games and god did that game give me a hard time. I really had to force myself to finish it at times, but I did grow to enjoy it and while I will probably never replay it I had fun with the story and characters. So far besides the Qunari and the enemy design this all looks better than DAI. So I am excited for it, not as much as some other games coming out around the same time, but I will def get to this and play it when I get the chance, and I'm hyped about some new stories and characters in this world.
The marketing made me really worried about this game , but after some of the coverage from independent creators, Im cautiously optimistic even if Im not a huge fan of them leaning away from the tactical combat.
@@Prayalone515 Same. Played them all. Still getting this day 1. People are literally hating just to hate at this point. The MULTIPLE Deep dives we've gotten have proven most of the early hate wrong, game has steadily been getting more praise, and now that people got the early hands on, the majority of the feed back is highly positive. Yet the NPCs still just keep repeating the same copy paste lines. Literally saw a dude in this comment section complaining about the "gayness" and "wokeness". I just assumed these people probably haven't actually played any of these games in the past at this point.
Completely agree. Every game these day's have to be attacked by those childish idiots. I simply don't listen, and have loads of fun with my games. I was a teenager when DAO was popular, so this new "engaging ADHD 50 colors and markers" combat style taken from mobile gaming repels me. Actual game art style is little better than in "first trailer" which idk who should appeal? Little said about the actual story and the openes (are we able to return to already visited parts of the world?)...so ya, I will not preorder and wait.
Yeah…I’m still not convinced about art style or the goofy looking Darkspawn? Especially since I loved Dragon Age: Inquisition and it’s art style which still holds up ten years later! In fact I’m sick of people whining about how Inquisition was too big or had to much to do in it? That’s what I love when I’m immersed in a good RPG and it’s like someone saying there was too much in Witcher 3 when we all loved the chance to go back and replay or potter about more in the game world. What HAS changed in the last ten years is that many gamers are becoming attention deficit try hards who don’t want to live in a game world anymore but just tick it off their bucket list of things to ‘get done’ like it’s another job or chore or something? It’s like they just want to speed run through to completion and harvest the trophy/achievement without investing anymore time there than they need to and it’s the complete opposite of why people like me play RPG’s and keep returning to the classics or an immersion fix. The Veilguard looks like it’s designed for the twitchy kids and all that fussy on screen color spamming eye candy is definitely for them and not for me and my generation. I’m gonna wait until the in depth reviews are out on The Veilguard but I’m already sure that for me this one is a sale price purchase after a year or two rather than a new purchase. I’ve been a fan from the Origin days but I’m obviously not the Dragon Age generation they are after pleasing today...😔
Sure, I get what you're saying about evolution of graphics and/or art style, and I'm totally happy with the new redesigns of the character models (some are veeeeery pretty, in fact, and that hair/body options are excellent). BUT specifically the new looks for #1: the blighted Ogre, #2: the Darkspawn minions and #3: the Pride Demons -- are vastly inferior conceptual interpretations in artistic design quality, artistic choice, and do not properly fit the idea of the "Blighted" concept. Darkspawn are twisted, distorted, and corrupted versions of their original selves (which all 3 previous games managed to interpret very well). The new designs for these 3 enemies - herein represented in the new game look lazy/poorly thought-out choices for what red lyrium, or raw Fade monsters should be perceived as. They do not evoke terror or disgust, and do indeed look sanitized, cartoony and childish even. All this can be true at the same time. In general everything in Veilguard looks good, but those 3 are mistakes.
The first time I saw this game a few years back I had the same reaction. Too cartoony, not dragon age, etc. The more I played the game, discussed it, gave feedback, the more I accepted the design choices. You might play the game the same amount of time as me after it has released and still not like the art direction, that’s fair and totally up to each person to make up their mind. But what I will say is the blight look the way they do for a specific reason related to the plot. This was not a redesign made in a vacuum to make the game more appealing to children. Of course, you may play the game, discover why they look the way they do and still decide it looks dumb. Totally fair lol that’s for you to decide. But if you’re going to say the dark spawn should look a certain way for X Y Z lore reasons, there are A B and C reasons why they look different in the veilguard.
My most recent nightmare difficulty playthrough of Inquisition took 185 hours. That doesn't encourage replay and actually was a platinum it took me 9.5 years to get around to claiming. A more focused approach will make replays more appealing.
This video autoplayed so i hadn't realized who it was. Got excited when i say it was Jayvee. Haven't really watched this channel since Andromeda, glad to be back 😃👍
So glad and refreshed to find a preview from someone thats played Dragon Age before and talks about the more positive potential with this game's new direction (and not just ranting about the art direction and combat which have been set in stone already), the toxicity free vibes are highly appreciated
I'd have to disagree on 2 points here; 1) The lip movement still doesn't look good. The character models are great, but they still havn't nailed lip synching. I bet all the dollars that their drinking animations are still trash too. 2) There's a difference between decisions being tough and decisions mattering. "Who do you want to have some bruises for a while" is neither hard nor matters. "Who do you side with in argument" can be difficult but ultimately probably doesn't matter. "Who do you save or let die" type decisions are (usually) difficult and CAn matter based on fallout. Bioware are very good at pretending their choices matter, when overall they don't (as proven by the removal of The Keep and the astoundingly small list of Story Choices from previous games).
I'm going to wait until release and then watch a few streams before I think about buying this game. Too many people I'd usually look to are too polarised to give reasonable opinions by now, and six hours isn't enough for an rpg. I do already know that I really don't like the art direction (yes, that changed a lot between games, but I liked how DA2 and DAO looked far more) and the lesser degree of control over what others do in combat (which does seem to make it a bit less clunky, so that's good), though.
I'm super hyped about the game personally. It had a terrible trailer which was more borderland then Dragon Age but looking at it in action it looks amazing. Only pep peeve is that there's a chest remove function for a game where you barely get a chest to begin with, same with the but. I'd rather not have the option to change it as someone who spends more time in character creator trying to get my ideal character for my run, male and female alike. It would've saved me time. It serves little to no function but I'd like to know there was more of a choice if presented. The character creator was nearly perfect for Bioware standards of games but this seems like a weird thing to skimp out on. It's probably just me.
Oh, THE background music ❤ wanna replay DAO😅 I actually spent almost 2k hours playing DA😅 nah, even more 😂 Nice checking rogue abilities in action! Seems nice, actually! And evo, no doubts. Only once played as a warrior, this one looks promising. Thanks for the vid, sir! 😌
Enjoying the combat in this better than GoW for the simple reason i CAN jump. How GoW went from DMC style aerial combat to you playing as God that cant jump is something i will never understand.
When they first revealed the game i was taken aback by the art style but i quickly got over it. I actually think the game looks rather beautiful now and it stands out among other RPGs. Exception is some of the goofy Darkspawn, dunno who approved that. ;)
Jeez, I can’t decide which I’ll play first: rogue or mage. I usually do a first playthrough with one or the other, but both look pretty sick! I won’t be playing at launch, though-not on my potato of a rig!
I mean this has made the gane look a lot better, dragon age has been a weird series, i loved origins, but 2 and inquisition i never got on with, might try inquisition again
Here's a bit of real info from a gamer who got fucked around with bioware and never forgot: Wait six months after a game’s release before buying. By then, the patches are out, reviews are clear, and you can easily see how active the community is through guides, gameplay, and platforms like UA-cam and Steam. Plus, the marketing hype has cooled, so you're getting the real deal without the noise
@@Narayan_sps They’re showing up in this game. You can create what they looked like after you finish making your main character. You can only pick 3 choices from Inquisition though. Romance option, disband or keep Inquisition going and if you promised to save or stop Solas.

It's called "Media Access" not "Community Council". A community Council requires votes from the community and have knowledge that said individuals on this council represents them. If some of these people that were chosen do not have a platform then the are essentially Q&A tester providing feedback aka beta testers. That said I like what some of the video had to say. For better or worse I was already committed to the plot and have to see it through.

@@Kiboune_YT not exactly. I just want honestly. Their are no perfect games. But I want to know the flaws to see if they matter to me .
There's dodges in Inquisition....

EA made me hate them with very few exceptions regarding game releases, maybe a few months after the release I will look into it again :)
Btw - congrats to your position in the DragonAge Community Counsel 😊 use it wisely and i hope your voice will be heard
Borderline mobile game aesthetics. It doesn't carry any weight or individuality.
The monke from wukong looks more realistic 😢

No one should ever pre order a video game regardless of how good it looks leading up to release. Ever
Cannot wait. Bioware is back baby
My most recent nightmare difficulty playthrough of Inquisition took 185 hours. That doesn't encourage replay and actually was a platinum it took me 9.5 years to get around to claiming. A more focused approach will make replays more appealing.

I'd have to disagree on 2 points here;
1) The lip movement still doesn't look good.
So basically, the only decisions that matter are killing characters? And you expect every decision to be on that level?
Thats so dumb.
I'm a bit suspicious of influencers who are part of a "community council" and getting wined and dined by the studios. We'll see though.
off topic but your room looks so good 😍
I'm going to wait until release and then watch a few streams before I think about buying this game. Too many people I'd usually look to are too polarised to give reasonable opinions by now, and six hours isn't enough for an rpg.
I do already know that I really don't like the art direction (yes, that changed a lot between games, but I liked how DA2 and DAO looked far more) and the lesser degree of control over what others do in combat (which does seem to make it a bit less clunky, so that's good), though.
dragon age origins combat is bare bones .. what the .. like i get it if you say it is not as good as other rpgs but not this sentence mate.
