For those curious, this can be completely done without removing the drive belt or the pulley. I assume that part was done for recording this video (which was appreciated). The easiest way I found to get that bottom bolt off was a long 8mm socket attached to a swivel and to get it back on I used a Telescoping Magnetic Pickup Tool to hold on to the bolt while I guided it in with my fingers and then tightened with the wrench.
Hi! Do you remember what your thermostat looked like on your 2008 Ford Escape? I just bought a thermostat for my 2008 Ford Escape V6 from Auto Zone and it looks like a typical thermostat… not like the one in this video… unless, this guy removed the thermostat housing with the thermostat in it. I haven’t started on removing my thermostat yet. I want to make sure I got the correct thermostat from AutoZone. Any chance you remember what your thermostat looked like??
For those with a lift, the bottom bolt is removable with a deep 8mm, 2" extension and ratchet all of the 1/4 in. variety from underneath. You can actually see the bolt head. Wish I had figured that out earlier in the job. lol '
On the 2008 4 cylinders Hybrid, the Tensioner is on the top. Where they show the idler on this car. Belt replacement is easy, and the thermostat is right under it. Just pop it off, 3- 8mm screws, and you have plenty of hand space. Just sayin. Nobody has a video for that one.
Im looking for some help. I changed my thermostat and forgot to install the new gasket. As i was refilling the coolant, running the engine to get it cycled through, prior to realizing the gasket wasnt in place, i had oil, motor oil, coming out of the housing. Does the oil go through the housing to cool? Or is that wishful thinking
The parts store sells 2 different pieces for the same car. One is labeled to be opertive at 85°celcius, the other one labeled to operate at 95°celcius , wich one should i buy??
Excellent! 0:11 Thermostat Location 0:36 Loosen belt tensioner (13mm) 0:50 Remove belt 0:58 Remove pully (3 bolts 10mm) 2:05 Remove outlet hose clamp 2:30 Remove inlet hose clamp 3:02 Move inlet hose from thermostat housing 3:41 Move outlet hose from thermostat housing, (place pan to catch coolant) 4:21 unbolt thermostat housing 3 bolts with 8mm socket, lower bolt use swivel head socket 5:00 remove thermostat housing/thermostat

Thank you so much for your video. I have a 2008 Ford Escape. I don’t know how to replace the thermostat. Your video makes me happy to do it!
Hooray! Luckily it's not too hard.

Thanks for the video. The lower screw of the thermostat is a nightmare without a swivel but it worked at the end.

Thanks for the video. It really helped.
He's working on 2.3 l. The 3.0l will this be the same to change thermostat?
Did you have problem with air lock after you filled it with radiator fluid?
Realmente todo esta muy bien, pero por que los gringos se complican tanto, no era necesario quitar la banda, pero supongo qud es para principiantes.
Beautiful 👍. Gracias Mijo 🙏
are the temperature censor by the thermostat

hola ay cuando puedas hacer un video porfavor de como cambiar termostato de escape 2010 motor 2.5 gracias saludos desde obregon sonora
Did you sciphon some coolant out of the reservoir at the end? Technically using that funnel means you filled the reservoir all the way to the top.
Was wondering the same thing.
Спасибо за ролик! В гибриде там же интересно. Почему только слил красный,а залил желтый
Did you just mix green with orange coolant?
i love the background music.. may i know what is the name of the music you used?
How long does this process actually take? Can it be done in a day?
Yes. There are faster ways of doing it the way I did it was to provide a better visual perspective. You can also do it from under the vehicle.
What is the name of this song? Very good tutorial BTW
Do you know where the coolant temperature sensor in a 2009 Escape would be?
Sir where is the engine coolant temperature sensor located?
In between the spark plugs
How to find belt tensioner ?
it is in the rear, i'd recommend removing the wheel to get the most access
MechDjango Thanks. I will try to remove the wheel. Cause I have not longer 13mm wrench ,so I can not reach the belt tensioner.
Could you tell me how to take off the lowest bolt on the thermostat?
8mm with a swivel extension
@@mechdjango3490 do you have to put it back on? 😥
@@mechdjango3490 mine fell somewhere in the engine and I can't find it. 🙁
Is necessary take off the band?
Not if you do it from the bottom
Whats the name of that player
On the v6 engines it’s 10x more harder lol
Seems grammar is pretty hard for you too
Si
V6 it would be 10x harder v6 engines are so pointless. I should of got 4 cylinders.
What a pain in the arse place to put a thermostat
True but you can get to it from the top or bottom
Video with out music is better 🙄
