Thank you for this video!! You just explained to me what the mechanic couldn't, wouldn't even give me the time of the day. And clearly what he said was wrong anyway. My engine light came on, and this is the code I got. The mechanic said that my engine will overheat. I told them that the gauge seems fine, it's not high or low. I asked questions and they seemed bothered by it. They told me to replace the thermostat, the coolant and the sensor just in case, quoted me a big amount. From your video, I have 3 symptoms of stuck open thermostat, not closed as they said. At least I know what is happening. And I'll def have to find a different mechanic...🤦🏻♀️

@@juanferosle took it to firestone and it was a oil housing unit making the squeak noise... It Definitely helped it stop over heating real bad but now it comes up just a bit when i stop at a light for a few (after its at normal temp for a bit) but then i drive and it goes back down.
Why Is My Smoke Alarm Chirping? A hard-wired smoke detector usually chirps for one of three reasons: 1) A dead or low battery... ...your detector alerts you with a chirp that it’s running low. Replacing the battery solves the problem. 🤣
So doing some research because car was starting to overheat this past monday, just yesturday i got a radiator fan thinking this would solve the problem. It did how ever on my dash it shows the Transmission running a little hotter than usual past the halfway mark on the temp gauge. Im gonna keep an eye on the engine for a few days since it did sit for a total of three days.
quite frankly the easiest explanation i have found on entire internet easy to understand thank you!!!! my engine is not getting warm ( max 50 degrees celcius) collant level all good top hose is hot bottom is cold. while driving along journey i stop at a mechanic because of leakage.. but he said he disconnected a hose so i can continue my way long journey back home... now i have no heating in car ( only cold air)..... and cold engine no matted how the distance i drive...... Would it be also the EGR thermostat valve?? i dont have EBD reader but i have the engine signal ON and i morning startup usually have white smoke and also when i accelerate.... what you reckon @easyautofix? thank you in advance to you and other who read me!
Question... What if car temp goes up at a idle, then goes back down only when car is in motion above 20 miles an hour... I was stuck in a car line picking up some stuff and my car temperature shop all the way up, then and as soon as I was able to get going again came back down to normal... @@kristinb5429 yeah the temp sensor was bad I assume because my problem went away after that it also helped make my car perform a little better if that makes any sense.. overall better Mpg.. but I did have a light come on again and I believe it's the spark plugs looking up how to take apart this beast in order to work on it

Can a new thermostat go bad. I had just put a new one in my 2012 jeep wrangler a week ago and a new radiator. Yesterday we drove 2 hours no problems. Well we was pickig up our son at work i left thee jeep on it spit out transmission fluid this morning took my wife to work and it overheated just smoked for maybe 10 seconds and stoppped. I didnt see any transmission fluid like last night or antifreeze. I grabbed the top hose it was warm i didnt check the thermostat hose but the radiator cap was not hot at all whish it had been before. Have a 2011 Chey Cruz that has coolant problems. I've replaced the the the radiator and hoses And yet it's still running hot. It will heat up and cool down in just a few seconds. I believe. it's the thermostat.What do you think my friend?
I have none of the details you said, the coolant reservoir is shooting it out. The car does not over heat, the heat and a/c work fine, the hoses are the same temperature and both are soft . The temperature gauge does fluctuate from a quarter to the half mark, never above that. Anything that pops to mind on what else it could be?
No people love their car working which is what they thought would happen when they took their car to your shop to get their thermostat replaced, either you charged it for it, knowing it wasn’t that or your a shit mechanic who half asses his job and worries about the problems later. No need to p o s human, just let them know they wasted money and it wasn’t the thermostat but if they’d like you could still replace it 😁 then everyone happy, because if they still wanna be dumb they have the option, but punishing people who made a simple miss judgement is wrong, you already know they do shit like that because of mechanics, you think people really wanna buy the part then wait for it to show up then take it to the shop… obviously not unless your modifying your car but most people are just trying to get it to run optimally

Could be a bad water pump too. No circulation means it won't flow through a good or bad thermostat. You will also have a really hot hose vs a cooler hose.
i have a question for the last one, if my thermostate remain close will it leaks through my pipes or through my overflow pipe that goes in the coolant reservoir ??

I just did a simple flush and fill with the spill free funnel, then refilled the car with new coolant, but I’m only getting hot heat on the high temperature setting? If I try to go to 80, 83, 85, ect… it gets cool, almost like room temperature? It blasts hot only on high temp. It’s a 2021 Acura ILX, 2.4L any advice would be great. Thanks
Mind reaches it at the right time. What happens is that after driving for a while, the coolant guage goes down a little but then goes to normal temperature.

My 2015 Escalades fan was constantly on, AC not working well, engine light on and pulling that code. Replaced thermostat and cleared codes. I was also having an issue with towing where i was towing a 3k lb trailer and when i got to my location the engine wouldn't start again and is blowing the towing fuses. not sure if they are linked but maybe engine was getting way too hot because of the thermostat? We will see.
I have 1999 rav 4 with 218000 miles. It has been running cold. It’s reading Only 1/4 up the temperature gauge when I’m driving. It is getting to half way point when it is idling in place. Heat doesn’t work that well either. What ya think? Thermostat? Maybe something else.

I’m having a similar issue with my 2013 fusion 1.6. It’s about 50 degrees here in arizona and I’ll do a cold start and in about 15 mins my cooling fans will turn on and my temp gauge will spike up and get close to the redline. If I drive around the cooling fans turn off and the temp will go back down to normal (a bit below the middle mark). If I make a stop for a few minutes, the cooling fans will turn back on and repeat the overheating shown on the temp gauge. There’s also no check engine or codes. What do you think it is?
I recently bought VW Golf 7 2.0 TDI and I need some help. Whenever I start the car, it reaches working temperature of around 90 degrees in 4-5 minutes, nevermind the car is cold or hot. The second thing is, if I drive the car for 5 minutes and I turn it off, all the time I hear the car cooling herself. The temperature never goes beyond 90 degrees but why always the car is doing self cooling after I turn it off. Thoughts?
No, you just add coolant to replace coolant spilled into whatever you are catching it with. Use pressure valve to get air out, start car and turn on heater and relieve pressure till air is gone.
What could mean when fans never turn on, temperature is normal even after replacing the sensor, and fans turning on when disconecting the sensor? Thank you!
I drove on a very steep hill and my car (quite old 2003) feels a bit hot at the dashboard side. (i didn't turn on heater or air conditioning) the temperature gauge is normal. Is there any possibility where a thermostat is faulty but the temperature gauge shows normal? I didn't get any check engine light on but I did feel a noticeably hot air coming from the dashboard side and my feet.

bottom hose should be cool as it circulates cool coolant TO the engine for heat absorption purposes

I changed the water pump (it was rusty and leaking) and the thermostat and no problems so far

Should both hoses be hot or one cold and hot? the one going into the thermostat should be cold or warm?
While the engine is warming up there should only be one hose that is hot. Once the engine warms up both hoses will be hot.

Hopefully you get it figured out coz overheating your car over and over is really bad,I would advice not driving it till you get it handled
try your engine coolant temperature sensor and or radiator fan switch , install new ones .
It was the thermostat on 2010 Ford Focus would overheat

I recently bought VW Golf 7 2.0 TDI and I need some help. Whenever I start the car, it reaches working temperature of around 90 degrees in 4-5 minutes, nevermind the car is cold or hot. The second thing is, if I drive the car for 5 minutes and I turn it off, all the time I hear the car cooling herself. The temperature never goes beyond 90 degrees but why always the car is doing self cooling after I turn it off. Thoughts?

no, you don't. but you should burp the system
No, you just add coolant to replace coolant spilled into whatever you are catching it with. Use pressure valve to get air out, start car and turn on heater and relieve pressure till air is gone.
What could mean when fans never turn on, temperature is normal even after replacing the sensor, and fans turning on when disconecting the sensor? Thank you!

I drove on a very steep hill and my car (quite old 2003) feels a bit hot at the dashboard side. (i didn't turn on heater or air conditioning) the temperature gauge is normal. Is there any possibility where a thermostat is faulty but the temperature gauge shows normal? I didn't get any check engine light on but I did feel a noticeably hot air coming from the dashboard side and my feet.

Mine was overheating and cooling when accelerating. Ended up being the thermostat
