5yrs later and you're still saving lives brother!! I haven't tried this yet but I attempted to install this myself and I evidently didn't do it right, because the issue persists. Hoping to use this to get it right finally and relieve some stress. Much appreciated, especially the meticulous instructions.
EXCELLENT video. It is extremely helpful that you captioned the video with the sizes of the fasteners. That is REALLY appreciated. Great video: clear, easy to follow, makes everything easy.
Thanks for the compliment, Jinxterman...and thanks for watching!
Finally I have found some good videos for my 06 Mariner. Thank you
Good tutorial. No unnecessary talking. 10 points.
yes, one of the best how to videos I have found. the only thing I might suggest is stepping back and showing the location of the thermostat housing so we can see where it is on the motor. but it was awesome to see a video that was straight to the point and the size tools needed. no rambling or unnecessary music.
I can see thr pullies in the motor so maybe infront of the engine
Thank you, good sir! Great tutorial, made the job easy!
great job on the video!!! very good, easy to follow instructions!
It's 2 o clock in the damn morning and my phone was hooked up to a speaker, that damn monkey just woke my neighborhood up lmao
Thank you Sir. Great help for many diyselfers
I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute and your vids are top notch straight to the point without all the self inflation and fluff I really enjoy your vids can you possibly do one on spark plugs, wheel bearings, and transmission flush I also would like to say thanks for saving me a ton of money I looked at your vid on replacing the window motor and regulator I really appreciate your time and effort it took to do these videos thanks a million!!!
Great video sir! Your video angles and lighting really get you up in there!
Thanks, Heavy...hope the vid helped you replace your thermostat! Thanks for watching!
This video along with the coolant replacement video are excellent! Thank you.
Thanks, boomerguy! Hopefully the vid helped in replacing your thermostat. Thanks for watching!
Well done dude! Best instructional video I've seen, very well done.
Perfect step by step instructions...Thank you! *****
I couldn’t get to the drain valve because the undercarriage cover bolts kept on snapping on me. They are all rusted out. So I decided to go on other side and take battery and battery case off and remove the bottom radiator hose and have it drain from there. I wasn’t trying to go to mechanic and have them tap all the broken bolts and charge me arm and a leg. But besides that good video thanks bud👍🏽
Excellent video
im now waiting to get the thermostat and temp sending unit from amazon
and will be using this video...
thanks..
Doyle Holloway Don’t do all the bullshit this idiot does because it’s completely unnecessary you don’t have to unhook any houses you don’t have to drain any fluid all you have to do is block those 8 mm bolt out pullback revealing your thermostat and yes you may lose a little bit of fluid put the new thermostat in and put the shit back together it’ll take you 10 minutes and you can clean it up with a hose this guy is a pussy
The first Steve lmao we have an internet bad ass in the building
very nice instruction video... good not to have loud music playing..
I wanted the format to be a little different. Strictly instructional. Plus, I'm not real articulate, and no one would want to hear me ramble...and yeah, the music on some videos is distracting. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, as usual. I could not remove the housing because the bottom bolt would just turn but not come off. My guess is that the nut, which is part of the plastic housing, just came loose/cracked and is spinning. Any ideas on how to get that out?I suppose I could take the entire thermostat assembly off, but there are a lot of pipes in there!! thanks.
Best video I have seen for this job. Thanks.
Don't know whats wrong with my speakers but good video
Gracias muy bien explicado todo mi agradecimiento.
Youre the Best!!
What is that hose with the two hose pinchers right of the thermostat housing? Was changing the thermostat in mine today when I noticed that hose wasn't connected due to a broken plastic bit connecting them.
I'm looking for some help. I just replaced my thermostat, water pump, and radiator. Everything was going good up until I was going through the first step of putting new coolant into the system. I had Motor OIL coming out of the housing. After disassembling I realized I forgot the dang gasket! My question is, why is there oil in the housing to begin with? Is it supposed to be there to cool? After I installed the gasket there wasn't any leak. I have to do another flush and new coolant again. But, is there a bigger problem now?
Clearly the 3.0, the 2.4 isn't nearly as easy. Do you have any videos involving the the 4 cylinder models. That would ve a great one. I'm having to remove the bolts from the AC compressor and move it out of the way just to get to the thermostat.
Wish you would do a video on the 2.3L 4 Cylinder. Same repair.
The process is pretty much the same on all vehicles. It's a very simple repair. Just trace the large hoses coming from the radiator until you find a flange similar to the one shown in the video. That's where your thermostat will be.
Ditto, apparently some folks won't know the struggle.
Nice !!
pasos muy bien explicados, solo usen anticongelante de la misma marca y tipo, no revuelvan
I have a 2015 Nissan Altima if you ever do any vids for this vehicle that would be awesome!
Good day. May I know what is the size of the upper radiator hose so that I can install a radiator hose adapter on it. Thanks
I need to replace thermostat in a( 05 murcury mariner ) everytime i search this video pops up.. so is it the same way for a mariner also?? Or I'm confused 😵 any help is appreciated 👍
Great videos! A little audio to a company it would be great👍🏻
Is it necessary to drain the whole entire radiator? I'd imagine it just needs to be drained below the level of the thermostat and not drained fully.
Correct, below is fine.
@Dennis Michaels That, I am not sure of.
Why wouldn’t you? It’s always good to drain and fill fluids as often as possible.
You can use a pair of “hose pinchers” to not let any coolant out.
You have way more room to work than me. That bottom bolt was hell to get out. Haven't put it back together yet but it's going to suck
So this explains why my escape shut off on me. While driving or when I put the vehicle (D) Drive ???
You do not have the video of how to remove the hydraulic blender power steering of Ford Escape 2004
Probably common sense, but isn't it also necessary to re-tighten the drain valve before refilling the coolant? (Maybe that's in the other video on refilling the coolant system, but I'm not watching that!)
Thank you very much. Do I have to use a torque? It's my first time replacing this and do not have one of those!🤔
How to replace water pump and pulley same time
I'm
Pop..please.
Que tal arreglaste la falla tengo el mismo problema
Luis Ramirez yo tenia el mismo problema pero le cambia la mangera larga que corre por arriba y cambie el thermostato y jala bien
What happens if the jiggle valve doesn’t align with the top center?
System won’t bleed properly
Expect that the pos plastic housing may fuck up and have to replace it also
How to stall a thermostat 05. Ford escape 3.0
On the 2008 4 cylinders Hybrid, the Tensioner is on the top. Where they show the idler on this car. Belt replacement is easy, and the thermostat is right under it. Just pop it off, 3- 8mm screws, and you have plenty of hand space. Just sayin. Nobody has a video for that one.
Question, on 2005 Mazda tribute, front wheel drive, is that the same location for thermostat as well which you show in this video, i really appreciate that you took the time to show us the exact location. Thank you
Que pasa si se pone el jiggle pin en otra posision?
Me imagino que no cuadra y liquea o no hace el trabajo que se supone.🤔
You open the drain valve in the beginning of the video, but don't show or say anything about closing it back up.
Probably common sense to most, but I feel the need to ask anyway.
I would assume you tighten it back?
Mariann Kennedy no leave it loose the new coolant is suppose to dump out as youre filling it back up
@@randomgooglename
Very funny !!!
Can you believe there are actually people out there that would have to ask shit like this ??!!
Should i turn off the shower when i m done showering
Do i turn the car back off once i put it back in the garage
I could go on an on !!!
Please o please i hope these people dont ever ever have kids !!!
Dewalt 459 lol, i know. please dont procreate!
If I was to take the thermostat out and leave it out would that make my transmission gear Gear slowly or not going to all 3 gears on a 01 Ford Escape
It will make it so your engine won't come up to temp so you might see shifting issues and you will be running a rich fuel mixture.

While the information is good, it's so hard to watch these videos without a voice over. Video is a multi-media medium. That means audio and video. You would have SOOOOOOOO many more views with audio!
very helpful video, but very boring. should add narration
Yeah, they tend to be if sitting in your room and watching on a desktop computer. But these were designed to watch from a laptop or smartphone, at the vehicle, while actually working on the project. The same as if you were working on a vehicle with a manual opened up on the fender, but better...the pictures move! Thanks for watching, Rogue!
@@GreaseMonkeyFever im that weirdo that watches car repair videos for fun lol thanks for the video, although they can be a little boring with no sound, the instruction is very clear and easy to follow. Thanks for the help!
Rogue...come on, you're no weirdo! Knowledge is a powerful thing. And knowing a thing or two about car repair is very valuable. At least you're not obsessed with videos of shaved monkeys giving cows artificial insemination! Now that would be weird!
@@GreaseMonkeyFever uh yeah im definitely not obsessed with those types of videos... *cough cough* haha
Can't even see the whole engine
You dont have to drain everything waste of time
Can I complete this repair without draining anything? Or will coolant pour out when I start taking hoses off?
