East coast ganggggg
Anna Campbell we need a collab on the east coast from you guys 🙌😊
Anna Campbell too bad you’re still a fake ass bitch
UA-cam Renegade she literally just made a video bashing Andrea russet and the entire situation was fabricated and dramatic just to get views
Anna Campbell REPRESENT 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 #PENNSYLVANIAGIRLS
yessssssss
So refreshing to see someone do REALTALK.
All the best in NYC
God I wish we could know which UA-camrs are fake and mean in real life! I would unfollow immediately
Probably any that are famous enough. Sure it gets to their head fast especially when they are young.
If she had named names it would still be subjective so you'd be just as fake as they were to unfollow at the suggestion of someone else!
Natassia Oliver Okay then
heykelly Just don't praise anyone and pay attention to narcissistic characteristics. I've noticed some people look at themselves all the time, make faces and fix their hair all the damn time. It's pretty easy to spot people who are full of themselves.
onmy computer2020gal David Dobrik and vlog squad is number one
Great video! I like your honesty about your experience in LA. I agree with you that when you are in such an environment where you see people talk about their friends in their back, are obsessed with appearances, it is easy to not feel at home. I felt the same but that was in an work environment at a specific location and I decided to leave which I believe was a good decision because now, it is so much better at this new location.
I live in Huntington beach from the past 4 years ,I see no issues here ,i moved from Seattle ,every city has pockets where you dont want to live ,its simple ,I use to live east coast ,there r places in Atlanta ga which r no go area at night time, so look where you live
NYC is where the true people are at. They'll all tell you what's right and be straight forward.. wheras in LA, they'll compliment you and talk shit behind your back.
I'm Canadian but I know everything about California because hello, I'm obsessed and it'd be a dream to go there one day. I wouldn't live there but just go to the beach and chill by the water + go to metal shows. That's about it, probably. 🤗
Been on the east coast my entire life, and i love it
This entire video screams why I only vibe with east coast cities. Passive aggressive west coast tendencies I've found through therapy have been so bad to my mental health (i grew up in the pacific northwest). Don't get me wrong team petty is bi-coastal af, but at least the social atmosphere (or lack there off) in NYC does not make it seem like you are obligated to deal with it.
I'm so happy and excited for you,. Steph. Congratulations :)
LEYKIS 101!
steph curry will divorce the hypergamy chasing ayesha. mark my words.
"LA is a sunny place for shady people" 😂👌🏾 Accurate AF
hahaha hilarious
At least it's lighthearted, unlike Chicago, which has shady people (and even more proportions of them), but without the lightheartedness or NYC, which is heavier hearted in large part because of 9/11 and, related to that, has an awful lot of surveillance.
Haha! Thank you, I misheard it at first: LA is a suckie place for sh*tty people
@Daniel Rios huh?
Link Skywalker we not shady in chi wym
If you’re going to move anywhere for your UA-cam career NYC is the best option in the US. Access to the UA-cam Space, plenty of events and opportunities to work with brands... great airport. Plenty of huge creators there too.
Being Social Media famous is like being Monopoly rich, it means nothing*
cuptink1331 I love this comment
lmao good one
Actually, these kids make a lot of real money & it ain't monopoly money. Lol. Hate to say it. But look up some of these YT famous' financial worth. U would be surprised.
Except u actually earn real money
cuptink1331 how when you make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year?
REAL Angelinos are super nice and chill. It's the people who move here who are egotistical and have such high expectations, actually believing they'll become "famous".
Yup!!
True!!! I will agree with her though that L.A. is full of low self-esteem people who need attention and its why they act this way....but Imma give u the keys to enjoying L.A. and Cali in general 😉. *warning-long post* I lived in the Island Empire area when I was a kid so going to L.A. to visit is a different experience for me because I hang around the natives and locals and THAT'S the key to enjoying California....its NOT L.A. or the people in it. They are expats. Go for the cheesy touristy stuff, have confidence (Im not talking arrogance) and then even the people of L.A. will draw to you. Low self-esteem draws to high self-esteem...and Im a broke bitch so its not a money thing either lol😂. My husband and I arent scared or Intimidated by the bougie attitudes and EVERYTIME we go out, we draw crowds who want to party with us.....its confidence and not giving a fuck that's the key to L.A..... but then take your ass out of there and enjoy the AMAZING state for what you read and see, but with the natives of Cali and you will have the time of your life every time, Guaranteed no matter where in California you go! Dont let the brats ruin it for you....so to sum it up, just dont pay attention to it and be yourself and confident...its what L.A. lacks so they will then draw to you but DEFINITELY get to know the natives and locals who live in L.A. and outside of L.A. and let them show you the time of your life!
No
You're absolutely true. I've been in LA in the period between 1984 to 1989.
Truth!
WTF WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME YOURE HERE ALREADY
busted!!!!!!
lmao
NYC is so amazing because you can be whoever the F you want to be
no car required and you don't have to deal with fake people. that is probably the most important.
Can you still be a mob boss?
And the people may be rude but they're REAL!!
That's why I moved to a small town in California instead of going straight to LA
Honestly this video feels super genuine and refreshing. Can completely understand how life in LA could be this way. People can be so lazy and obsessed with being “insta famous” which is such a fleeting goal anyway 😂 Hope New York is a better fit for you! :)
Sarah & Rachel also it’s all about promoting “ the industry “ and whatever trendy new entertainment is out..... gets so old to be obsessed with trends or paid to push them ....
New York is full of fake fashion industry people that are obsessed with beautiful fashion models. They don't have womanizers in New York, they have modelizers (from Sex in The City). btw, I was one of the beautiful fashion models so I know firsthand.
Jamil Gotcher yeah that’s there and something to avoid but it’s not an overwhelming part of the vibe, like Hollywood is in LA. it’s still way more diverse, raw, real and artistic ..... u can basically still be more authentic there
Welcome to NY!!!!
Sara Dietschy OMG SARA WHAT
Thank you!
Haha have if you meet with sara
Sara Dietschy i live in NY toooo
john murphy anyone who can’t hack it in NYC says the same thing👎Welcome to life!
I feel like you're talking about a very specific part of LA....West Hollywood/Hollywood area. However you could absolutely see an old woman with purple hair say in Venice. East LA has nice people who are super down to earth. Or what about Long Beach, Whittier, Pasadena, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Downey, Commerce..these are all towns in LA where the people you're talking about really don't exist. It's sad that West Hollywood really represents all of LA for so many people because it's such a small, shallow part of a really great city.
Colleen Michele this! I keep seeing youtubers shit all over LA. LA is beautiful and diverse and accepting in so many ways. Just because you encountered some shitty social media people doesn’t mean LA is to blame.
Amber Davis I’m going to make a positive LA video. Thank you for this. I got caught up in this too at one point.
Exactly
It's laughable to see all of you Socalians caught up in the idea that LA is star-spangled great. Maybe it's the smog that's clouding your thoughts. It's ok. The rest of the world understands your obliviousness to reality.
Gabe Kim you know how big LA is? The place this chick has been too is where everyone that from middle America or the east coast goes to live an “LA life” real people don’t live there we were pushed out it’s not your home you know nothing about it relax
I love how you say these things and decided to leave. A lot of other youtubers talk about how fake La is but still live there and hang around those same people. Good for you Steph.
Love the honesty! I know you’ll crush it in NYC. Just know you’ve always got a place to crash if you want to visit LA to remind yourself why you left 😂
so you're the shady one lol
OOOF.
i think it was the best decision you couldve made, youre glowing! ly steph x
I've been LIVING for these genuine chats
I think people who move to LA in pursuit of fame vs. people who grow up in LA have very different experiences. Doesn't feel fake to me, but that's just because I'm surrounded regular, grounded people. Very understandable that you didn't quite see that side of the city.
Exactly
Yeah white privilege woooo hoooooo good people stfu bitch
o yea ok
Diffuse Wings49 I am black and I have lived in la my whole life I feel that some people that move here are just looking for fame but honestly I think that all of the people I have met that have grown up here are really genuine nice and grounded people I just think that the fame sometimes gets to them.
I'll bet she's never been to Ports O Call or anywhere east of the 110. But yes traffic does suck here. LOL
You definitely don’t have to move to LA for UA-cam. Just go on trips for collabs and get brands to cover it. Only reason to move their is lifestyle and to be in entertainment
Soooo New York is gonna be better?
Lol just teasing but.... really lololol
Glad you did what you felt right and got out of a place that wasn't a good fit for you.. NYC is awesome, hope you are much happier there!
hi julie! luv yaa
Wow! This is exactly how I feel. I have lived in LA for three years now and I feel like I don't belong because I want quality over quantity. Thank you so much for posting this. You helped me feel not alone in how I am feeling.
Janene Gibbons are you still in LA?
"LA is a _sunny_ place for _shady_ people."
Well, shoot. Unfortunate that it drove you out, and in so doing, lost a bit of shine.
NYC represent
Arielle Scarcella can I count myself as NYC represent too ? Hahaha 💕
Wow… I thought was the only one who feels like that, I don’t live in LA I don’t feel the city I’m living in like home too, I’m here just because… listening to you makes me realize that I need to move on… Thanks Steph! 😭😍
you got that right Steph, I'm doing UA-cam and am in Canada. Great video, you really bring up a lot of great points. It's nice to hear it from somebody who is real. - Mark over at the BakeLikeAPro UA-cam channel.
Why are you not verified?
A sunny place for shady people. Lol you nailed it
I literally have bright blue braids and I live in LA, kinda stupid to move here just for youtube. Can’t relate.
i never saw anyone look side to side this much. not a negative comment, just different. something for me to get use to.
This is such a White/Hollywood experience of LA.
TashiSoCali was she supposed to have the blk experience? Whats ur point?
Agreed. Different parts of the city are unrecognizable in comparison to each other.
I was kind of thinking that, it’s probably just the group of people she was working with but contrast that with people who are from there or live with a rich cultural network
@J Ds fuck, you're so rude.
J Ds you nailed it. You’re very succinct in your essay. Thanks for sharing the truth! 🎯
I am glad you are happy in NY. I suddenly feel really great about not living in LA. Lol, thanks!
West coast is the best coast. LA is full of fake people, but it could also be your friend group and the type of people you attract.
Lex Grrez I met so many amazing people in LA in the 4 years I’ve been here. I think it’s naive to categorize a whole city as fake people, because seriously, in my experience, almost everyone I met here is so genuine and kind and actually care about other people. I guess if you hang out in Beverly Hills or Hollywood is a whole different story. But it’s also what you say, the people you attract 🤷🏽♀️ I love both NYC and LA anyways.
I also think it's the type of crowd Steph hung out with that's the problem. Of course the city has shallow people, but you can find plenty of them on the East Coast as well.
Agreed. I like to run, so joined a running community in L.A. almost 10 yrs ago now. Met the most wonderful, giving people ever there. Friends to this day. They get involved with helping the homeless and many other social issues/catastrophes that affect L.A, the States and around the world. Of course, none of them are youtuber's, so maybe that's a factor? Just good people doing good deeds....
The West Coast is the wack coast best of what lmao
Wet
LA - money / coffee / money / fake Instagram shoots
NYC - FUKIN ART
"Social media famous is like being monopoly rich. It means nothing" i know im late to the game here but preach girl preach!!
Come to Sacramento California
Hey, as someone who moved to LA for college and work, I can say you're 100% right. I notice this more than the natives because I wasn't used to this new culture and it wasn't until a few years later, I saw LA for what it is. Even in the cities around LA where people are considered more "normal", I still experience this but to a lesser degree. Coming from Texas to California, I've never had friendships outside of work that lasted more than 2 years. People seem to befriend you if you're convenient or if they find some sort of use in you whether it be popularity, money, social networking, etc.... they don't actually care for you as a person if you know what I mean. Everyone is more ambitious and are using everyone else to some degree, that's the biggest thing I noticed. There's very few people who are actually genuine. I've always had people say they want to hangout and they never do, it's like they're just saying nice and friendly things just for the sake of saying it. I've been to other places where people are rude and blunt, but the thing is, they mean what they say. At least when they invite you to dinner, they actually do it and not ghost you.
YOOOOO that east coast TRUTH coming out!! ❤️✊🏻🤣
My question for her would be: How many of the LA people she met were truly from LA? Or are they Transplants (people from different cities/states) that have this idea of what LA should or shouldn't be? I'm curious to know the answer to that.
Girade Jackson 🤣😭 facts out of towners meet other out of towners in la and say “i swear la people are shady” 😭😭😭
Good question a lot of transplants come here and act different than they would in their hometown. They believe in that whole Hollywood lie
@@ladylefteye Locals only go to Hollywood if were working there and the whole time can't wait to get out of there.
@@philg7528 right haha. I’m a local. I use to go to just hang out.
I’ve missed seeing your beautiful face!! I love you no matter what Steph and I am so happy that you are making videos again and wish you and Nugget all the best in NYC
Love you darling!!
Thank you love! It's good to be back
I'm happy that you are doing better
ive heard a lot of people saying how fake LA is and how arrogant the atmosphere is
The change in your facial expressions when you talk about LA the amount of pain expressed is hard to see but I think we are glad to see how happy you are in NY, hope you stay happy for a long time to come
Bro you were obviously hanging in the wrong places, sounds like you’re talking about West Hollywood, Los Feilz, Beverly Hills, and all those shitty places. Should’ve spent your time in Venice, Marina Del Rey, Culver City, and Santa Monica, or Inglewood. I fucking love LA you just found the wrong crowd .
Serena Ruvalcaba agree af
LA native here- so sad to here about your experience here :( Yes not all people are like this but yes "a sunny place for shady people" for sure. But I'm glad you decided to move to NY and that it fits your vibe.
Aww missed your videos! Glad you’re back. We support you no matter what decisions you make, at the end of the day you just gotta look out for your own happiness and I couldn’t be more happy for you for doing so.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. “Gandhi
Honestly, being born & raised in la it hurts me to admit this but I 100% agree, like it honestly saddens my heart but it’s true but girlll you do you. Do what makes you happy! I’m extremely happy for you!!
The reminded my just how great of a person Steph is
Hahah were the hell in LA did u live cause I was born and raised in LA and nothing that u are saying have I ever experienced. The only thing I can say is bad about LA is the traffic. But other then that everything else ur saying doesn’t make sense. Unless u were in Hollywood.
Debbie Deb it makes sense to people who have lived outside of LA. If you have never lived in another city how can you know?
HEY DEBBIE IS IT TRUE THAT THE CITY IS RULED BY WHITE AND BLACK AND IF YOUR A HISPANIC AMERICAN YOU WILL BE TREATED BADLY.
I missed you beautifullness!!
I’ve been here for 4 years this summer and I hate it here. I’ve never felt at home and I can’t wait to finish school so I can leave. I really thought I’d like it here...but I just don’t. I’ve lived in Chicago, NYC, DC, and this is the only city I’ve just felt so uncomfortable in my skin and in my surroundings. It’s really toxic and I can’t do it! If you’re not gigi hadid or a real housewife then you might as well not be here.
This video is good but i was super distracted by you looking anywhere but the camera for 80% of the video.
I live in L.A. currently and one of the most ANNOYING things about people here is that they are worse liars than they are aware of. Their fake behavior is OBVIOUS , yet if you let them know you're aware of their agenda/intentions then they label you as negative/unfriendly.
I'm from Los angels and I'm fine with your take on this city but not ok with you saying MOST of the people here are fake. That's a generalization I've never liked because it really only takes into account the people that are in the entertainment industry in one respect or another (yes, I include UA-cam in that), most of whom aren't even from here, and completely forgets about the rest of us.
Los Angeles is the only city I can think of that gets stereotyped by one industry. New York doesn't get stereotyped by wall street and the banking industry. If you only hung out with nothing but bankers or the people around that in New York and generalized based on that I doubt people would accept that as fact but in Los Angeles if you use people in the entertainment industry as the bases for your opinion on us as a whole that's perfectly acceptable.
How often do people that make these statements hangout in East Los Angeles, South Central, Compton, the harbor area? And I don't mean for an afternoon.
I'm ok with people not liking Los Angeles, I love it. But when you say most people are fake you're including the almost half of this city that's Hispanic, mostly working class, who either fought or who's parents fought to get here. You're including the black people who've been here for generations and carved out their place. Both the brown and black communities have to deal with violence in one form or another so the idea that most of them are worried about their Instagram followers is funny to me because growing up I was more worried about getting shot. You're including the working class white people who don't know what the fuck you're talking about when you talk about Facebook followers because they're too busy trying to put food on the table. You're including the rest of the people here, largely immigrants, who worked hard to get here and make a home. You're including the largest homeless population in the country.
Sorry, I very rarely ever rant but that kinda just felt like it needed to come out.
***APPLAUSE*** I'm from South Central and for her to say that all of L.A is fake is such bullshit. All these youtubers are always talking about how snobby and fake people are in L.A but just like them they are hanging out with people who weren't born in L.A. Come over to EAST L.A and then say that all of L.A is fake, all you will see is hard working people.
YES!!!!! 100000000%....I am not familiar with the girl who posted this video...I can say she seems extremely sweet and genuine. What I find, generally, is that people who don't like LA because they think everyone is fake, are the people who are trying to social climb. They're the people going out to the Hollywood clubs every weekend hoping to get noticed. They're the people who want to make it, but don't and base their entire LA experience off of Hollywood. I live in East LA (am from Chicago) and I can say that if you're coming to LA for the entertainment industry you're going to be in for a rough ride. If you're coming to live in warm weather, meet chill people and have fun, that's what you'll find. Los Angeles has some of the nicest, kindest, most genuine people I've ever met in my life and I'm from the midwest. Transplants who never leave Hollywood are the ones who spread the "all of LA is fake" stereotype and it's unfortunate.
trinity casanova to be fair she said most not all but even that statement was too much for me. Like I said, this city is almost half Hispanic, most of whom are blue collar, most of whom either immigrated or are descendents of immigrants. The percentage of this city that are social climbers, and there are those, is small but we get defined by them which I fucking hate.
Colleen Michele that's why I mentioned those neighborhoods specifically. No one, or at least almost no one, trying to make it in the entertainment industry, in whatever form, lives in those hoods. They tend to stick to very specific areas and hangout with very specific people that make up a minority of this city.
Like I said, if you like this city, as you do, that's awesome. If you don't, that's ok. I took offense to her saying most people are fake. I take offense that this city gets defined by one industry and a minority of the people most of whom aren't even from here. They come and eventually leave while, for the rest of us, this is home.
🙌🏽
As a New Yorker I can tell u that in New York people are not that fake as in LA everyone mind their own business and nobody gives a f about what someone else is doing I know that we shouldn't judge and entire because of some people but I have been to LA and I have seen it quite closely and honestly its a really shallow society people don't judge you on the basis of your work or skill but on your clothes your car and Instagram followers that's hilarious like people legit ask u when they meet u how many followers have u got people nowadays seem to care less about the creative arts and focus more on getting viral rather than making an impact with their creativity there r a lot genuine super nice people in LA too which I feel like are the ones who have grown u in LA so they have different experiences and r real and normal rather than those who came to LA for becoming famous..
LA is a place to tour, not a place to live. In my personal opinion.
Haha. Tell that to the people who are born and raised here. Most of us love this city. It depends on your lifestyle and the company you keep.
I think neither LMFAO
@@badgalkc411 are you from LA?
J M would it matter ??
That's exactly what I thought. I'm from Houston and only been to LA for a week, but imo it just felt less like a city of locals and more like a town a really shady LA devotees.
Honestly, I'm not shocked (regarding fake people using others in L.A.). Keep in mind that many people move to L.A. in order to get their "big break." This isn't limited to being a movie/T.V. star or singer, but many try to hit it big on UA-cam and other websites. It's one of the longest-sought dreams in this country's history: Achieving celebrity status. Sadly, many don't realize that very few get their big breaks, and they're told that they need to "know people" in order for this to happen. This is probably why that one girl lied about not knowing much about UA-cam or social media. She saw a couple of people with a lot of subscribers and probably thought just being around or knowing these UA-camrs would be one step towards her possibly being a big UA-camr or social media star. Her intentions would have been made clear if she walked up and started talking about what a big fan she was of you and the other creators' content. I'm just conjecturing, so don't take what I say as fact. I'm basing this off of what I've been noticing about a lot of people who struggle to find an ounce of fame in Tinsel Town. Many move to L.A. thinking that eventually things will go their way, but they never account for the thousands of others that are doing the same thing and have the same intentions. Once they notice this, they become desperate and will do whatever it takes to achieve whatever kind of fame it is that they're trying to achieve. Sadly, because of this behavior, UA-cam is becoming Internet Hollywood. But that's my two cents on L.A. Anyways, good luck in NY!
East Coast is way better :)
Rachel Ann i lived in NJ for 27 year I don’t miss the weather but I miss the people that make it home. And I honestly feel sometimes NorCal isn’t HOME.
NorCal is filled with snobs
I live in boston and have lived other places and couldn't do it haha
Rachel Ann lol hey rach
HI I LOVE U
When you grow up in LA, it's a completely different experience.
You definitely picked a place where the people are straight forward. I wish you the best of luck and that it’s every thing you hope for.
Steph thank you for always being transparent & and completely honest with every single one of us Steph and we support you on any decision u make wether it involves us or just a decision to better yourself! Steph you are one of the most honest and real youtubers and people I've ever had the honor of getting to know over UA-cam! Finally Steph I just really want you to know that you mean the world to me and that I love you so very much and I'm so glad that you made the big decision to move to NY to live in an environment where you can feel comfortable but 2 also take on the world of NYU for grad school!! I love you so much Steph you mean the world to me!!💖!!
Your video was in my recommended and I live in L.A. There are so many more people here overall...so therefore, there are many more jerks/fake people here too....I've gotten SO frustrated with it over the years, but if you take the time to learn how to read and see through those people you can meet some amazing people here - and I definitely don't fit into the L.A. aesthetic and most all of my friends here don't either and I would say that we do fit into the outcast scenario. I just ignore the shallow, superficial climbers and focus on my real friends.
HorrorGal lpppp
Since u want to be real 🙌 a large social media following does equate to dollars. Too many pple act like they don't understand why pple care so much about #'s. Pple have moved out the hood off a viral video . its a meal ticket lottery winning
West coast is best coast😎✌🏻lol jk i’m British I wouldn’t know😂but glad you’re out of that negative place
Claire Wedgeworth I mean, West Coast is best Coast honestly. 😂
Daniel Rios Lol yep!
You should give nashville a try. Everyone thats fleeing cali and ny are all coming here anyway
😘 always live your best life Stephanie! 😁 look forward to more videos!
Welcome to NYC!!! Yeahhh!
I lived in LA for almost two years and that’s when my depression started... I’m so glad I’m out of that place now and I wish you all the best too dear💕🙏🏼
Most of the ppl that give LA bad rep aren’t from LA. Most not all. LA natives have unspoken morales:
1) no snitching
2) scratch my back I’ll scratch yours
3) big city small town so mind your own
etc etc etc
I think your experience was not the best because of the culture you were involved in. :/ Wish you the best in your future endeavors!
I wouldn't wont my happiness to be base on what others consider to be happiness
there is A LOT of Mexicans in LA you should have hung out with them
Btw it’s me from Instagram @elloxstephaniefrosch I LOVE YOUUUU😉😂😂💗
Loving it here in LA for 16 years.
Came here with $400.
I’ve become successful as a sound healer reiki master. And owned 4 businesses.
I’ve got silver hair and am in my 50’s.
No make up, barely ever.
And I’m an out Lesbian.
If you can stay here for 5 years, you’ve made it in LA. 3 years isn’t enough time.
Sadly, you just didn’t get to tap in to professional, real good people here in LA.
Most of my friends are FROM LA, they are not into the fake BS.
Your complaints are simply that you didn’t meet the better people here. 💜
Glad to see a new video can't wait to see what you have coming up.
Many moons ago, my girlfriend and I were supposed to move to LA. It didn't work out, and I thank my lucky stars that it didn't. It sounds vapid and empty and soul-crushing. Best wishes to you in NYC, Steph!
You seem so much happier!! 😍✨
I am :)
The authenticity of our LGBT+ UA-camrs has degraded over the last 3 or 4 years. I guess as it has become a career rather than a just a platform to connect and share a message. I now almost can't stand a lot of the channels I once followed. There are a few exceptions to those long-standing content creators who continue to post honest and engaging content that appeals to audiences that have been casually following LGBTI+ UA-camr content for more than 5 years. Just to recognise and appreciate a couple off the top of my head @ashhardell @roseellendix @ellosteph @unsolicitedproject
Emma Gray I love miss london and kalvin garrah
This is why I love you Steph! You don't hide anything! Lol You're not fake...you speak whats on your mind and how you are feeling. I hope your new home brings you many great, new memories to share with us. ❤❤❤
I lived in LA for 14 years and everything you said about "la" describes the west side almost exclusively. If you surround yourself with douchebags in a douchebag industry, you can't complain that you run into nothing but douchebags. My best years have been spent with the Mexican community on the east side in LA.
East is best. New York rocks
im sorry to hear you never felt at home. I've been living here for 5 years and I felt at home right away, and I JUST barely now started pursuing the youtube thing lol
I’m literally wearing the same shirt as you right now
Great minds think a like :)
Kate Russell where did you get it?? I want it
Carrie R it’s called the get real movement search it up they have a merch website
That's interesting. I thought I wouldn't like LA because of its superficiality, and there is a lot of that but that's not even half of the picture. My experience is full of people who want to know about where you come from and what makes you different instead of judging, who help others just for connecting (and I don't mean on social media), who want to create, who love nature, etc.
But I understand and respect your experience. I wish you the best in this new chapter!
Dude, your generalizations about LA are a bit overtop. It is a great place and not everyone is the way you describe.
San Diego is the better, more laid back, underrated version of LA :) only 2 hrs south!
You're in the wrong career field to not be around fake people. As someone that was born and grew up in LA, not everyone is fake; maybe your social scene was but not everyone. You went to LA for a reason, your career and everyone else will try to one up you. It's how it works almost everywhere if you choose to put yourself out there. I'm also sure you only saw one side of LA because you went there for your career. Please don't generalize a whole city because of the limited experience you had with it.
I understand this so well. I've lived here for almost three years and I've done so much growing in that time. I'm more myself now than I have ever been. This is home. Welcome to NYC, Steph. We're glad you're here. 😊
Great move! Literally :) ALSO I NEED THAT T-SHIRT. how?
Kweerdo get real movement! They’re the best. Use laura&madison for 15% off. Doesn’t give us anything just helps you!
Welcome to New Yawk!!! 💛
You're the real deal. You'll like it here. Has its own challenges but it's a solid town. I'm happy for you!
I just recently did the reverse move, from NYC to LA. I've definitely seen a lot of what you mention but for me, so far, LA has definitely felt like home, and I've met some great people. I also haven't experienced much of the "WeHo" / west side scene, so I'm still a bit naive about all the social climbing and fakeness. I couldn't live in this city if I had to drive though. Motorcycle life is treating me well. I'm glad your loving NY! That city will always have my heart.
Believe me there are a LOT of NYC transplants here and a lot of them must feel at home. Don’t believe me? Just go to Angel Stadium when the Yankees are in town. That place turns into Yankee stadium with all the fans that show up. There are a lot of them here apparently.
dip1955 Yeah, I saw a map showing where people move between big US cities recently and more move from NYC to LA than vice versa. Many in LA move to Denver, SF, Austin, and Portland. I live in NYC and quite a few people I know and have met here have moved to LA (and also other cities), very few say they really love it and will never leave unless they just arrived.
This is on point, so many of the reasons I’m hesitant to move back to that area. Good for you for making the positive change ✌🏽♥️
3rd comment thanks for doing a vid Steph I love you 😍 so much you’ve got so much love for us so we give it back to you ccc
Thanks Steph xxxxxxxxx
I'm glad you're back! Thanks for making a video that sums up how I feel about LA. I grew up there and lived in that grey space and it was so hard. Luckily I'm an East Coast gal now and I couldn't be happier.
tartdarling what do you like about the east coast?
Aw, you sound so sad, Steph. Sorry LA didn't work out for you. Best of luck in NYC! Hope you post another video soon. 🤗🤗🤗
An Italian guy told me he hated Milan but he loved Venice, and he told me why. So I feel you Steph :)
