      Probably because children should not be sexualised, that's paedophilia.

      ElloSteph you are so inspiration I may not be part of the LGBTQ+ community but you have my support. UA-cam restricting these videos is stupid. The LGBTQ+ community on UA-cam is a beautiful community filled with such wonderful people. I still watch your videos cause there funny and awesome. ❤️❤️

      Keith Trimm why are you watching if you don't agree? your purposely making yourself unhappy with these videos, for what? to put your opinion? we appreciate your opinions but will you do the same?

    • @meganvarble2378
      @meganvarble2378 7 років тому +8

      Keith Trimm steph just wants to inform people of the LGBT community. you can't turn kids gay, if they are gay they were born that way. you can't help what your kid is so the best thing to do is support them. now I'm not being rude, I'm just trying to help. but you are definitely being rude.

    It's honestly so sad. A whole community is being deemed "inappropriate". Kids need to be able to see this media if they are struggling with gender and sexuality. If coming out videos or videos about sexuality are blocked, so many kids will end up feeling alone. I know that those videos helped me come to figure out that I was pansexual and I don't know what I would be like if I hadn't been able to watch them.

    • @rominaruch7716

      Yeah, same... Many UA-cam videos also helped me to understand more about the Lgbtq+ Community. I mean, I also read the Wikipedia article about Homosexuality (:D) but it's different to actually hear it from someone who had to struggle with the same things. :/

    • @emilyy5802
      @emilyy5802 7 років тому +2

      Stalin_Around Kritler that's not the videos they are blocking. they are blocking appropriate content which is simply informing people about sexuality and personal identity. while things like you mentioned may not be appropriate for children, there are some videos that do not need to be blocked.

    When I heard about restricted mode, I was mad and hurt. UA-cam helped me with finding out who I was and it literally saved my life. It also hurt me so much because I started making videos to try and help kids like me, who have problem with mental health issues and I checked yesterday and while some of my videos about mental health were left out, my only positive one was removed and so was me discussing bisexuality. I can only imagine what a kid who is coming to terms with themselves seeing this would feel and if you are one of those kids reading this, there is nothing wrong with who you are. And dear UA-cam please remove the feature that blocks stuff about LGBT we aren't inapporiate because we are part of the community but what is inappropriate is you thinking this was an ok move.

    Restricting LGBTQ content for kids is ridiculous. I'm a lesbian who has been in a relationship for 24 years and we have a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old twin sons. Our daughter identifies as grey gender and a lot of her friends are bi-, trans or other. How can anyone think it's right to keep these kids from access to quality content that just may save their life with something in a video? They have questions they may be afraid to ask and thing they may not be able to talk about with their friends and family. UA-cam is a lifesaver for LGBTQ youth. Be smart. Change this now!

    • @eliasapollo4131
      @eliasapollo4131 7 років тому +1

      Kenjutsu Tengu Mate, you don't know her. You have no idea how she is, how her parenting methods are, how her kids are. Stop judging her.
      And no, same sex partnerships are NOT unnatural.
      Homo- and bisexuality are found in over 400 difficult species. There are for example many gay penguin couples who raise young penguins.
      Nature INVENTED homosexuality. And seriously the most important thing isn't what sex the parents are. What matters is if they love the kids and truly care for them.
      And don't say shit like "kids need a male and female role model"
      Yeah, maybe you are right, who knows, but as if the parents are the only adults the kids interact with! There are aunts and uncles and neighbours and teachers and so on. The kids are fine. Just stop judging a family you don't know.

    • @eliasapollo4131
      @eliasapollo4131 7 років тому

      Kenjutsu Tengu I think you haven't read what I wrote. Several scientific researches show that kids in lgbt families grow up just as well as in straight ones.
      Also, natural is defined as "something that can be found in nature". Homosexuality as well as bisexuality are a part of the nature.
      And if it's unnatural why do men have a g-spot in the ass? Just wondering.
      Of course, the majority of every species is heterosexual and will always be (and that's good because otherwise reproduction would be a problem) but other sexualities are a part of it too

    • @eliasapollo4131
      @eliasapollo4131 7 років тому +1

      Kenjutsu Tengu You say "we are humans not other animals" and you're right. But that does not mean that we can just repress or even change our sexuality. Or can you just say "imma be bisexual for week"? No, because you simply can't change who you're attracted to.
      Seriously, please stop calling her an it. It's disgusting and simply degrading.

    "Kids shouldn't see LGBT things" okay what about kids who have parents that are LGBTQ+? Or walking down the street and seeing two people kiss that aren't hetero/cis? Or what about television where there are LGBTQ+ characters? What about the new Beauty and the Beast? I hate when people say that children shouldn't be exposed to anything in the community, even things that are harmless. My grandmother told me I wasn't allowed to watch The Fosters at her house with my sister and cousin in the living room because she didn't "want them exposed to that" (meaning the moms) yet years prior they had gone to my cousin's wedding where him and his now husband got married and she said "well they won't remember that". People say these things but if it was a hetero/cis thing they'd be fine with it. Why is LGBTQ+ considered to be so vastly different from hetero/cis? Honestly people confuse me because we are all just people, we are all made of tissues and blood and we all breathe the same air and live on the same planet. Why is this so hard for others to see?

    Hannah hart, an LGBT youtuber is who I watched as a kid and that's how I figured out I was a lesbian, through her coming out videos. All the youtubers I watch now, (steph, ally hills, Stevie, miles, and many more) are who help me deal with bullying and help me feel okay. UA-cam needs to get their shit together and realize how huge and hurt the LGBT community is

    I remember when I was first questioning my sexuality I spent days on youtube; I can't tell you how many proposal videos I've seen, some more then once, or how many "lesbian short films" I've watched because they were all I had access to. I needed that so much because I didn't have anyone I could talk to, I didn't have the support I needed because I was afraid of how people would react. so I watched as many lgbt videos as I could. that's how I found your channel, and nowthisisliving, Amy ordman, the unsolicited channel, miles chronicals, Stevie, and Ally Hills to name a few... all of you were a huge help to me and are there when I need it and when I am confused/ upset or even just want to laugh. I can't thank you enough for that and I'm just sad that people younger then me won't get to see your videos as easily...

    I struggled with gender identity all my life, labelled myself a tomboy, then genderfluid and just kind of dealt with that even though it still didnt feel like it fit. Mid November I started watching Benton Sorensen who has since taken his videos down, but watching his video where he talked about learning he was trans struck such a cord within me and made so much sense to me and helped add everything up that I only then realized that I was transgender.
    I knew of the word, but without that specific UA-cam video I wouldn't have ever even considered myself as trans, because there isn't enough representation and the only kind I did see were of all these tiny tiny kids knowing form birth that they were trans. So to see someone else that felt that way, the same way I did, and not realize it until later? That changed my entire world.
    April 6th I will be 6 months on testosterone because of that UA-cam video.
    Without it, who knows if I'd even be alive on that date.
    That is why Restricted mode is so terrifying. Because young and older viewers need to find representation somewhere for them to help understand what they're feeling when other resources like therapy just aren't available to them.

    Thank you Steph I totally agree, your videos and some other channels (whose names are escaping me) were some of the first videos I saw on coming out and being a lgbt youth. That was 7+ years ago and those memories still stick with me. You and other youtubers gave me the courage and the information I needed to decide when and how to come out. Hopefully youtube realizes how important this content is and comes up with a better solution to filtering actual inappropriate content.

    UA-cam was an important thing for me discovering who I was back in 2012. If I didn't have UA-cam videos of LGBT people I have no idea where I would be today. Just recently I was questioning my gender and non-binary youtubers really helped me accept who I am. It seriously terrifies me to know that there are kids now who might not find these videos or resources to help them through such difficult times. I hope that all young LGBT kids know how loved they are and if there are any of you reading this now, you're worth it. You're worth the world. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

      our LGBT youth shouldn't feel unsafe or scared to be who they are. UA-cam needs to put an end to this restricted mode because it makes us as a community feel like we are wrong or that our relationships are pornographic. our relationships are not like that, and they need to realize we are real people. our content on youtube should never be censored for no reason.

    HALF of our videos are restricted :(
    We don't feel that our family should be considered inappropriate content. It's incredibly discouraging that this hasn't really been addressed by UA-cam.

    as a closeted teen, where UA-cam is my link to the outer world, i am appalled at the situation occuring. How can the role models of future generations get cut off from people who need vital help?

    This is outrageous UA-cam is the way I discovered myself and I found out that I was attracted to girls it's not right that they are trying to put restrictions on something that can help so many people, so many ways,does UA-cam think that is a good idea to restrict this content! they are honestly losing more users! We deserve to be heard and not ignored. This is a big issue that needs to be fixed thanks for speaking out Steph we love you ❤❤❤

    Not realizing it until after a lot of time and effort has been put in,I have found myself recently watching , commenting and replying to videos that are years old . I'm not sure if I should finish what I have to say, look like a fool giving an opinion that is irrelevant given the subjects resolution, or reply to someone who may be no more than a memory or will never know they are the first spark in illuminating understanding for another.

    Really hope this gets figured out soon. This is ridiculous! This community has saved me and helped me figure out who I am. Is that "inappropriate"? Like you said not showing coming out videos and proposals isn't protecting anyone, it's making homophobia seem okay. I understand it may be a coding program but it is still degrading.

    kids should know about the lgbt community, because then they will know that they arent alone, if they are questioning their sexuality then they will know that it isnt strange or unatural and it will also give them a bit of an understanding of the community which will help them with being open to the idea of someone being gay,bi, etc.

    How does UA-cam even think lgbtq+ videos are inappropriate!?!? Love this Video! I won't lie, when I first saw that UA-cam restricted lgbt content I freaked the f**k out. I just felt all my self-esteem disappear especially because I'm not out. The feeling of (OMG now the whole world hates the lgbt community then why should I even consider being myself) started.
    I've come to realise that as I please everyone around me, I end up hurting myself the most and it's sickening.
    So thank you Steph for this video. It really is encouraging.

    Thank you so much for making this video! I'm bisexual, and when I was confused and coming to terms with my sexuality, UA-cam really helped me feel less alone and like I was a part of a community. It sucks that UA-cam is doing this, and I hope that them stop this ridiculous homophobia and attack against the LGBTQ+ community. Anyway, thank you for talking about this is a respectful way. I love your videos!

    I was even aware of the LGBT+ restriction mode until you posted this. It's frustrating because UA-camrs like you helped me with coming out to my close friends and family and I don't know where I would be without LGBT media existing.

    This makes me so upset. We've worked so hard to make LGBT+ not seen as a bad thing. And this is taking us back. I hope eventually there is a world where any sexuality is truly acceptable to everyone. Probably not in my life time. But hopefully someone's. People shouldn't be ashamed to be their selves.

    this isn't about the restricted mode as much because i haven't personally seen it a lot (i'm not on youtube a lot) but i just wanted to say thank you, because you inspired me to be myself and you inspired me to come out to one of my best friends, and it went amazing, and she supports me and she accepts me, and i thank you for giving me the courage to do that. stay strong, steph, love you

    I agree with you, I totally understand certain content is not for kids, but to block all LGBTQ+ content, but not content of the same sort where the couple/person is straight, is homophobia. they need to take down the restrictive mode until they've figured this out.

    UA-cam is how I found out even what LGBT means or even what sexuality is. The fact that they could tarnish kids from learning or figuring their sexualities out like I did is ridiculous and cruel. How are we supposed to know and learn who we are if we don't even get a chance to learn about what we can be.

    On the bottom of my browser, i've written a short letter in the 'feedback' section of the options. UA-cam needs to know this is wrong. Flood their inbox?

    Even as a 22 year old in a relatively accepting society (we still don't have marriage equality though), it was seeing, normal, happy LGBT women like you on UA-cam that made me feel safe to come out. Thank you for everything Steph, I hope this gets cleared up soon, if I had seen your channel as a teenager I may have come out sooner

    I actually had no idea of the restricted mode, but that actually pisses me off that this is happening on UA-cam of all places. I don't think their automatic sensor (Censor which ever) is doing the best of jobs if it is cencoring videos that could help teenagers and kids prevent suicidal acts.

    The restricted mode is awful and nobody should be told they can't post their opinions or feelings just because someone else has their own issues. Keep posting your content. I love you Stephanie. ❤🏳️‍🌈

    I recently came out to my parents around a few weeks ago and they are so supportive. It's LGBTQ+ videos that helped me come out. If I never watched LGBTQ+ videos I would most likely have never come out . These videos help me feel like I'm not alone and that there are people out there just like me. IT IS NOT HEALTHY THAT KIDS ARE TAUGHT THAT LGBTQ TOPICS ARE INNAPROPRIATE!!! They might end up wasting their whole lives because they were taught not to be themselves, and that upsets me
