I still think that Pavarotti's version has no comparison, but I totally agree that this tenor is sublime. Another who also elevates the Nessum Dorma to the top is Jonathan Antoine.
Come on. Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma was weak. He was a leggero (lirico-leggero if you want, whe he grow older) and this is an aria for a spinto voice. Look for Corelli's version, or even Domingo's. Then you'll see how this aria should be sung.
In the same concert he sings one of the most difficult baritone arias and one of the most difficult tenor arias, both superbly. He stands at the limit of what is humanly possible.
I have been blessed to have listen to some superb tenors in my lifetime with my favorite being Luciano Pavarotti. But having just found Mr. Spyres, for this current time, he is a force to be reckoned with! What a strong, clear, controlled vocal talent! Bravo!
Wow - beautiful. He's a very 'still' singer. All wonderfully powerful diaphragm work - no outward physical exertion. Amazing technique so relaxed. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is out of this world. Not only his interpretation and technique are sublime, but he literally blinks ONCE in the entire video. This man is an alien or a robot. Absolutely amazing.
Dan Vasc - that's the voice the world's been waiting for - he sings anything better than anyone. And he doesn't look like an expressionless robot when he sings Nessun Dorma.
Amazeballs. He appropriately decided to be "still" for this aria. I've seen him animated with other pieces. The only thing that would have made this perfect was if he held that last note just a little longer- but I'm splitting hairs. Bravo, Michael!!
Thank you, Michael Spyres! This is the first time I’ve been able to bear hearing another artist sing Nessun Dorma after Pavarotti’s rendition of it in “Yes, Giorgio” was forever emblazoned onto my heart. It’s a bittersweet moment because it represents time marching on, and our need to make room in our hearts, and in our ears, for contemporary artists who have made arias their own - arias of which the definitive performances were by beloved singers of days gone by. It also made me smile - because it represents time marching on, and the knowledge that life continues, and what we once thought would always bring us sadness does give way to wonderful and beautiful experiences. Different. But, wonderful and beautiful nonetheless. Bravo!
Your comment is so beautiful and so true. I teared up as I read it. Spyres deserves to be compared to Pavarotti. It really is bittersweet how time marches on.
Wow. How moving, how powerful. Felt that voice weaving itself into my bones as he sang. Must get his album because I think he's one of the best tenors of his generation.💖💖💖💖
Wow, how Amazing!! All I could do is burst into tears! Mr. Michael Spyres, this rendition of Nessum Dorma, was so Powerful! Continued Blessings to you and your Marvelous Voice!
OMG! That is as great as I have ever heard this. He has perfect technique and 'power' behind his magnificent voice. ALL the GREAT TENORS of the past would be proud his presentation!
I listened to this song on my playlist thinking the usual of how much I will always cherish the voice of Pavarotti, and later realizing that I didn't actually listen to Pavarotti but to this man. Stun and awe can not explain nor express how I felt during that realization, truly something I never knew I would feel when listening to this classical masterpiece. Maybe I didn't notice a difference because of my declining hearing, or maybe because I came upon a treasure so rare that I could appropriately use the expression "A soldier like you comes along once in 1,000 years.”
😮😮😮😮 Wow. Just extrodinairy. No one has ever ever given a great rendition since the late Pavarotti ❤...Until now. ❤ Beautiful. Shivers up my spine. ❤ Thank you.
This 'Nessun dorma' by him is a clear improvement over his previous versions, especially the seamless transition into the high notes and a more meaty sound required for this genre.
Such a beautiful experience. The story is parallel to the music, I wish there were subtitles for those who speak only English and wish to follow with the incredible words. The voice is something else, I was hooked on Pavarotti.
Absolutely magical performance and a stillness in his delivery, which makes it seem effortless. Outstanding, real shivers up the spine stuff! Thank you.
The world of Opera is just as corrupt as any other part of the music industry. For decades now Jonas Kaufmann has been hailed as the greatest current tenor but listening to this artist, it is clear that there are better tenors out there. This was incredible on every level! Bravo Maestro
And Spyres is not even a "true" tenor but rather had to work very hard to develop his tenor range because he is naturally a baritone. It's even more impressive, and in my personal opinion his rendition of Nessun Dorma is the best I've ever heard.
Wow! So subtle and so perfect! Michael does something I haven't seen with any other version. He very, very subtly rounds the vowels in the final Vincero. I'm not even sure it is intentional. It may be a happy side-effect of the emotion in that final line. I had to rewind and listen over and over. It is tremendously endearing and heartfelt.
Wow!!!!! tiene una voz hermosa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! le deseo mucho éxito!!!!Wow!!!!! He has a beautiful voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you much success!!!!
After listening to Pavarotti, I am not usually moved by other tenors... I was moved today.

Only Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli have stopped me in my tracks before this chap. Phenomenal. 👍
