It even has a great name in Spanish too. The original is "Tres en raya" (Three in a line), so we can call this one "Tes en raya" (Ts in a line). It's perfect
This is your first "2" video where instead of laughing hysterically at how ridiculous it is, I'm sitting here thinking, "huh! That totally works and is objectively better and I want to play it now!" Good job, you've revolutionized something FR.
This is actually an AMAZING remake! There’s one thing wrong with it, the balance still isn’t all too fair; but I’d make it so that you could occupy the other player’s ticks no more than 3 times a game, and when you use up one of those times, you can’t do it for your next turn, and you can never occupy the most recently occupied tick/space. That makes it fair for all, and makes it even fairer!
Slight problem, the game is going to devolve into very predictable play. Your goal (essentially) it to just play for as long as possible without forming 3 in a row (because that would allow your opponent to win). So every game will have a setup phase of like four turns of people placing these: |+| +| |+ |+| Then you'd want to individually make something like |+|+ +| |+ +|+| Then the game ends pretty much immediately if someone deviates from this strategy. Or, is forced to place another line. Also, this placement guarantees a win for player 2 after 8 turns unless there's some way to prevent player 2 from playing this strategy (like playing in the places that player needs to go next turn).
@@holesmak I tested it too. It's still more fun than regular Tic Tac Toe, but I had the same results as you. It seems if both players play optimally, Player 2 will always win.
@@solsystem1342 There is no such play, 1st player is forced to take at least one of those 6 six in first two moves since middle one is only square that does not contribute to such strategy and they can't go to same place on their 2nd move as player 2 went on their first move. This leaves square that player 1 can't protect as they already went there.

This is massive improvement over the original! If you could have a go at making "Hangman 2", that would be epic!
I solved Tick-Oat-Two (it only took me 10 mins, so its not "balanced"). Second player still always wins. Whenever first player places his mark, check if you can win in 1 turn, and if not place yours mirror. If he makes a T, make a mirror T. If he goes center, go center next turn. The hardest part is to figure out where to place your mark the turn he went center. But you should keep everything mirror. Thats the golden rule of this game
@@randomjunkohyeah1 yeah, its been more than a year :/ I dont really remember, but i guess in this context it means that if first player goes left down tile, then you go left up tile, if he goes middle up tile, you go middle down tile. So another words, to win, second player needs to keep symmetry

yup, second player still has a garanteed win if they wait a turn and then start placing their lines on player 1 lines from a turn ago, player 1 never has more than 2 valid lines in the game and cant win
I once had an idea for a new version of tic tac toe: You play it on a rubik's cube . Each move you can either draw your symbol on an empty place, or turn a section 90 degrees. The goal is to get an entire side filled with your symbol
The idea of turning a rubix cube into two player is... scary. but I think the game would last forever unless you couldn't turn it in a way that would move a square your opponent previously moved
Played a few games with my son and we pretty much concluded that if you and your opponent both understand the game, whoever goes first loses. Lol That said it's a really cool twist. Definitely makes you think a little harder. Both players are trying not to get 3 of their own lines in a row, pretty much.

Every other "making ____ 2" or "making better ______" video I've watched has just been purely ridicilous and funny, but this is actually a really fun and interesting concept.
Using minimax w/ alpha beta pruning, after about 30-45 seconds of search time(c++ runtime pog) it appears that second player always wins, but the game is definitely complicated enough that there's a decent amount of chance for either side for the casual player. I'll optimize it more later, but what I really need that would help a lot is some way of "evaluating" the position without calculating who actually wins, like how in chess a crude evaluation would be just who has more material.
A win requires that your opponent makes a 3-in-a-row, then you make the same 3-in-a-row. The winning move must be you playing on top of your opponent's line. If you make a 3-in-a-row of your own lines, then your opponent can win by playing the same 3-in-a-row and you have no way to block them other than winning first. Conversely, If you avoid making a 3-in-a-row of your own lines, then your opponent can't win. You can delay for up to 6 moves this way with a pattern like this: XX_ X_X _XX Here's a winning strategy for player 2: Start by playing the four sides. By your next move, player 1 will have made 5 moves. If they have no corners by move 5, they have a plus-shape in the middle. If you can, play in the middle and win. If the middle was the their last move, play in a corner. There are no 3-in-a-rows of your own lines so player 1 can't win. Then you can now play in the middle and win. If they have corners by move 5, pick one. Play the opposite of that corner, then play the original corner. You now have the maximally delaying pattern from above, and at least one of your corners is a complete t. Player 1 will have made 7 moves by now, so there are only 2 squares they haven't played and they must have completed a 3-in-a-row somewhere. If there are empty squares left by move 7, play on one of the empty squares. Then player 1 can't win because they can't complete the t you just played, and your other lines don't contain any 3-in-a-rows. Then complete player 1's 3-in-a-row and win. If there are no empty squares by move 7, player 1 has the whole diagonal, one of your corners, and 3 more squares. No matter where those last 3 are, there will be two different 3-in-a-rows that you can complete. Only one of them can be blocked by being player 1's last move, so play the other one and win.
yeah it's probably somewhere in between OG tic tac toe and connect 4 in terms of how likely a casual player is to be able to play a perfectly optimal game
I'm TOTALLY going to use this. This might be the best remake of something he's done. But sadly, I am a little disappointed that's there's no Egyptian Bird):
@@Mihdndo as far as I remember he just said, that the next player can't place his line on the previous players spot, that however doesn't change a thing the first positions filled are always 1,2,4,6,8,9 1 | 2 | 3 4 | 5 | 6 7 | 8 | 9 Or a mirror image of them. Then the first player need to place his line on the diagonal let's say he places at 5, the second player then places his line on either 3 or 7 because he cant place on 5. The same however is ture for player 1 as well therfore he needs to place his line on the space player 2 didn't fill. Now player 2 can use field 5 and finish the game.
@@want-diversecontent3887 didn't thought about that, but even though it sounds promising that makes player 2 win even harder then before, first of all player 2 can always put his 3 first lines on empty spaces which would result in p 1 not having to option to lock p2 out. But the crux is that p1 can lock out p1 so that he needs to place his line one turn earlier in the middle spaces (if p1 let's spots empty) I might have not considered all options feel free to tell me if you found a way for p1 to win,
2:23 There is a forced win here for X, if x puts his mark in any of the corners on the other side of o, O needs to block the diagonal and X will put a X in the other corner setting up two possible wins. Kind of an bad example of it being drawish.

You should make a “I fixed The world monuments” that would be So Cool
You can delay for up to 6 moves this way with a pattern like this:
XX_
X_X
_XX
Here's a winning strategy for player 2:
Start by playing the four sides.
Put simply, just play exactly where your opponent plays every move and second player always wins because they are the only one completing the +.
0:08 "bok bok bok" was my favourite part
The original is so easy that you can always draw so

I'm TOTALLY going to use this. This might be the best remake of something he's done. But sadly, I am a little disappointed that's there's no Egyptian Bird):
Problem is that player 2 always wins...
@@Viel_Glueck you watched the whole vid?
He found a way to fix it
@@Mihdndo as far as I remember he just said, that the next player can't place his line on the previous players spot, that however doesn't change a thing the first positions filled are always 1,2,4,6,8,9
1 | 2 | 3
4 | 5 | 6
7 | 8 | 9
Or a mirror image of them.
@@Viel_Glueck What if player 1 waits for you to fill 5 of the 6 spots and covers the last one?
@@want-diversecontent3887 didn't thought about that, but even though it sounds promising that makes player 2 win even harder then before, first of all player 2 can always put his 3 first lines on empty spaces which would result in p 1 not having to option to lock p2 out. But the crux is that p1 can lock out p1 so that he needs to place his line one turn earlier in the middle spaces (if p1 let's spots empty)
I might have not considered all options feel free to tell me if you found a way for p1 to win,
this is the only *random thing* 2 VIDEO THAT COULD ACTUALLY HELP
I'm hoping he talks about Ultimate tic-tac-toe, aka strategic tic-tac-toe
2:23 There is a forced win here for X, if x puts his mark in any of the corners on the other side of o, O needs to block the diagonal and X will put a X in the other corner setting up two possible wins. Kind of an bad example of it being drawish.
tic tack toe isn't "drawish" if you learn it enough and play perfect theory and your opponent does the same it's perma draw
Yea, you know that strat
The tic tac makes sense because the grid looks like tic tacs
6:36 I legit thought It's Showtime was my ringtone 💀
Someone needs to bring this guy onto the half life 3 team. He can make a sequel to anything in under 2 weeks.
Then again he tends to make version 2 and move on, with the exception of the alphabet. (And my comment might age badly at the current rate.)
Bro thank u so much for making this Playlist this is the only thing that keeps me from not crying in the night my parents went to India and are coming back to Canada in February after my bday we moved to Canada in July my parents went back in September to get stuff done and just so u know I am only ten. Thank u so much I love u ❤ ❤ 💙 💜 💖 💗
6:45 Bro i swear these white dots are everywhere.
its now time to tell my hardcore tic-tac-toe friends to evolve into TickOatTwo experts
Yes same
bonus feature:power upps double slash,one slash square,removeatron 3000,pre-set +,flip-swap,diagonal why-agonal and lie detector
double slash gives you double the turns
one slash square makes it so for one turn
removeatron 3000 removes a slash
pre-set + allows you to place a full + without the opponent
flip-swap makes you play as the opposing player and the opposing player plays as you for one turn
diagonal why-agonal places a diagonal mark wich first one to put a slash claims it and shall now act like and it will act like a full +
lie detector forces the opposing player to tell exactly where they intend to place their mark next turn, such info might be valuable
What is the background song at 3:07?! I need to know !

Do "I made a better school system"
There is only one problem is. isn't when the 1st move was played from the 1st player that they have played and that the 2nd player always wins after keep placing on top of the first players moves and eventually lead to a win and a loss for first person to place a line???
We will definitely see the evolution of language in action with this. No one will pronounce it Tick-oat-two. They'll just say tickotoo

We call it X O soo :)
My and my friends always play this now

this was pretty fun ngl. enjoyed it more than normal tic tac toe. HOWEVER, you should have called it tic tac two
Missed opportunity to call it tic-tac-two

tic tac toe -two- 3.
1. New grid, which is a 4x4 grid.
2. More stuff other than X’s and O’s. (Square and Line)
3. It still has to be 3 in a row.
4. New mode, team mode.
*TEAM MODE STUFF*
1. The X’s and O’s are Team 1 and the squares and lines are Team 2
2. If a team gets 3 in a row, they get a point.
3. Every point adds up until one team loses.
4. The max points will be 8.
