This channel is phenomenal. Thanks for putting in the effort. I finally got some great augments today so I deleted over 100 saved sets. Having a full clear out and subsequently building new sets is the highlight of mh for me. These videos are really helping out...
I love how serious you sounded on your joke that you misspelled gaismagorn in your chart haha. Otherwise thanks for the vid I've been waiting for your update on the new lance meta.
Great overview and I appreciate you trying to get things out quickly so we have something for the lance meta! The gathering hall discord certainly appreciates your efforts :)
Amazing video. Gobul, you are to Lance what Caoslayer is to GL. Simply amazing all the work you do and how you've become the number one source for lance videos
oh fuah i was just about to post my own video on lance builds on this and cite you as inspiration, nice job! I didn't quite consider using Adrenaline Rush, that seems like a really, really great idea!!
The thing about evade lancing in rise is that our hops got really nerfed. they're so short that when you dodge, you'll still be in the monster's hitbox long enough for it to hit you near the end of the attack
yeah, for any evading Capcom really wants you to use Redirection or EE and Evade Window; not just for Lance but GL also suffers a bit from this although less thanks to Redirection
You need to have evade extender 1 at least for me and monster knowledge to know what move to pull it off. You don't need to do the evade all the time and do it to proc the buff once it is over.
Love your vidoes! My first MH game was Tri and then TriU and while I have played my fair share of different weapons, lance has always been my go to comfort weapon. I haven't quite picked it up before your videos, but now I could finally get back to it, thanks to your guides!
Binge watching your content as I am currently learning Lance to open up more options when I play with my friends! excellent videos with detailed explanations, please please keep this up 👍👍👍
Armor augmenting really does just open up everything. It's let pure meta sets go even harder but it's also enabled some really cool stuff. I got lucky with some charms and augments and have a build like you described with evade lance + offensive guard together. I rolled some lucky foray, evade extender, and offensive guard pieces and together i can get status trigger, foray, adenaline rush, and bladescale hone all proccing off evades and still fit offensive guard 3. Foray actually feels really good when you can get to 3 for solid attack and 20 affinity. It definitely feels strong but also is 100% only possible with good luck on augments.
Hey Gobul. Thanks for the video! Your guides have been a huge help for me with lance. I made an adrenaline/status trigger build and its working out nicely. I use guard dash and insta block to keep offensive guard proc. I try to safely evade when needed to trigger status trigger, which also lets me control exactly when I get the status proc. I wish I could show you some clips, which I mostly share on my twitter page or discord.
You could also do that yourself, go to a armor set builder and put in all skills that he showcased except Dereliction + all good charms you have. Your charm really makes your build, not the armors themselves and it doesn't actually take that much time :)
Looking forward to part 2. With everything so jumbled now, it would be great to have a way/formula/guide to help determine the best lances for augments and play styles. Thank you for all the hard work you do!
Important note about sneak attack, "behind" the monster is pretty relative. Essentially, just being out of its immediate 180 degree sightline counts, meaning you can stand behind the head and hit it and trigger sneak attack.
Great video man I've made an evade lance build with Bladescale Hone + adrenaline rush that is pretty fun to play cuz I don't need to sharpened anymore. I had offensive guard on it for a while but its been pretty complicated to keep that and adrenaline rush active at the same time so I've switched it with another type of damage (agitator / attack up / etc)
I’ve tried evade guard hybrid for adrenaline and off guard, it feels pretty good against certain matchups like narga, it didn’t work so well against scorned malo. It’s a pretty fun playstyle, it’s just a bit more matchup dependent in my experience.
Hi, i'm quite new in to element lances - being playin mostly raw since GU. I'm confused, why in any of these sets, there's not element attack 5. I'm running Zinogre thunder lance and I imeddietaly put 5x bolt Jewel and upgreade lance to have also max thunder DMG up. Is there some DMG cap or something im missing? Also what about crit element and chain critical? Cuz I also maxed out both of them in my set My set: Agitator:5 Thunder attack: 5 Attack boost: 5 Wex:3 Crit boost:3 Crit element:3 Chain Crit:3 Guard up:3 Sharpening:3 Windoproof:3 And some lesser skills
Great video, Gobul. Couple of questions if you don't mind: 1) Are you using Lofi's EFR calculator for you damage numbers? If so, could you by chance do a video (or even a screenshot) of some of your settings (like Bloodlust uptime, etc). 2) In the background it looks like you're using a non-Dereliction build while all of your sets involve Dereliction. Is that just because of the augments you've gotten or is there another reason? Thanks!
I just stack Foray, Agitator, Bloodlust, Coalescence, with Offensive Guard and Anchor Rage. Sneak Attack is in a couple of my pieces as a bonus, not because I wanted them but because they have good slots and a lot of handicraft and agitator for me. I don't run meta sets though but my damage is comparable. There are also a few monsters where if you position yourself just right, you can still poke the head while receiving the sneak attack damage boost but it's largely determined by their size and you being at near pixel perfect range.
I'm still skeptical on whether or not Master's Touch +3 is really enough to push non-Valstrax weapons ahead. It still seems reliant on RNG (specifically, an 80% chance for a weapon not to lose sharpness ASSUMING you land a critical hit) to actually reach those potentially higher numbers for match-ups where the non-Valstrax elemental weapon like Rathalos lance is supposedly better. Not to mention this means that you have to ensure your set has a 100% critical hit chance on weakspots to begin with. Because the less you are from 100% crits, the higher your gambling with Master's Touch RNG effectively becomes. Or perhaps I'm understanding things wrong. I'd love your insights.
I tend to lean towards one of 3 lances. Kamura, furious rajang, and scorned magnamallow. I tend to play a guarding Lance style. Not good at anything involving timing. I'm sturdy, I can dish out damage, and I can go full turtle mode is things get dicey. I feel most at home with the Lance in sunbreak
I have been using a hybrid build using the valstrax lance (ATK +10 Ele +3), adrenaline rush 3, offensive guard 3, chain crit 3, attackboost 7. My armor is augmented for gaurd 3 and guard up 1 (and some other stuff I cant remeber) It works pretty well and is a reletivly fun playstyle, getting about 517 raw at max set up (not counting buffs like demondrug), although it only reaches around 70% affinity.
I'm currently using the Magnamalo Lance with Grinder (s) this lance has low Purple and White so it easily drops to blue then I sharp and get the protective polish + grinder S for the 90 seconds and the damage becomes crazy, besides there is also blasts here and there.
I'm very happy that we have a Lancer who knows what he's doing putting out UA-cam content. This weapon has been so underrepresented for so long and good content like this helps to show its strengths. In the spirit of a young man who once stated "I love turtles"... I love lance. 😆
I can't be arsed with elements, can I stay Valstrax lance? Haven't tried armor augmenting yet either, nor I do have much interesting in participating in more RNG tomfoolery. Getting my talisman was annoying enough. P.S: -Something I don't get from armor augmentation is, if the armor skills get replaced, not added, why wouldn't I just pick a different armor piece instead of gambling? Why is it even called augmentation? you're not augmenting, you're replacing.- P.S.2: Qurio augmentation is actually okay, and I was wrong.
Are elemental sets without Dereliction viable? I don't feel confortable using dereliction and still want to build one for every element (I find it fun lmao).
How about lucent narge's lance with protective polish? Will it be better than valstrax? Let's just assume that the monsters are only slightly weak to dragon. And im still between using Zino or Narwa lance for monsters that are weak to thunder
Hey Gobul, it would be amazing to see a video where you talk about Dash Attack and Shield Charge :) I started playing Lance in base Rise and continued into Sunbreak, seeing you play is very inspiring, your Lance skills are fucking nuts.
I'm running a sharpness upgrade on the kaiser lance with a protective polish build. So it gets purple. And somehow rolled protective polish on the kaiser waist too.
Adrenaline rush seems to last for a pretty long time from my experience so its not entirelly impossible. There are plenty of monsters that do double swipe moves where you can proc both (like Rathian tail swing or Ceanataur claw sweep). Lots of monsters when enraged double their "fist" slam moves so you just dodge the 1st insta the 2nd i gess
Could you also make an evade lancing video at some point? With offensive guard being so strong it was kinda pushed away from being used at all and it's probably still worse no matter how good your set is in rise but it was a fun playstyle in the old games and now with adrenaline rush and the status stuff there are possible sets that make it way stronger than it was before and therefore also more interesting as just like a fun playstyle to change it up from time to time.
I've been having a gud time with Evade Lance+status trigger. I'm using L. Narga lance due to it being poison and high dmg 340* just need to get the parts to augment for a lvl 2 rampage deco
The video footage 4:26 makes me wish Charged Sweep was a "Charged Thrust" or a "Charged Slam", because missing a vital hitzone due to the way in which a monster's head happened to spasm or flail just out of reach when you're about to hit it with a Charged Sweep is so incredibly demoralizing. It's also demoralizing when the Charged Sweep hits a hitzone you didn't want it to hit, like that Charged Sweep you did at 4:30 that you clearly meant for it to hit the head but instead hit his chest.
How's my set? not a speedrunner, I prefer to play with a full team with qurios crafting I made with Valz lance Attack Boost 7 Agitator 5 Bloodlust 1 Chain Crit 1 Coalescence 1 Countestrike 3 Critical Boost 3 Critical Eye 3 Mail of Hellfire 1 Offensive Guard 3 Weakness Exploit 3 Guard Up 1 Guard 1 Defense Boost 5 and Flinch Free as level 1 deco fillers 100% Affinity = WE(50) + Bloodlust(20) + Agitator(15) + CritEye(15) I got [Offensive Guard] on [three armor parts] and managed to get [Chain Crit] on [one armor] and [Critical Boost] on [one armor]. Also got lucky with [Attack Boost 3 w/ lv3 slot charm]
With Qurios being all RNG, I think people should lower expectations on getting a god roll. I think people should only expect/look for to get only [one skill] to add to your armor. Preferably a [low] or [mid tier] armor skill I like to find skills that I would have just added as a deco so I save the slot room for it. Rarely should you seek out slots, they are just a bonus.
Think I'm sticking with Valstrax and focusing on other weapons for element in the meantime. Armour augments make me mald although I did get an extra attack on Barroth arms X and three attack on one piece isn't bad.
What about the ibushi Grinder build ? I finely could get my hand on it thanks to kurio crafting and the new decoration and it does massive damage compared to the valstrax lance.
That's (hopefully) going to be in part 2. Paper maths says Grinder.S is really strong, but its heavily dependent on how long you're taking to sharpen and mathing that out is a big pain in the ass
You are doing lance users all throughout elgado a huge service, thank you for your work dude
Seriously. Started using lance when sun break came out and I’ve been glued to dudes channel. So informative
Yeah all 6 of us lance players lmao
Loving the Gobul's Lantern. If this was a bar, I'd buy a drink here every weekend. Lance main FTW.
This channel is phenomenal. Thanks for putting in the effort.

What a small world, i really enjoyed you videos on longsword sets!

if only status trigger and adrenaline rush work with lance sheathing eavde the way they do with Axe's wire step
yeah, its a bit of a shame, at least there is a silver lining , it makes Evade lance more viable.
Splendid work as always Gobul! Wishing you all the best and thank you for what you do.

@@niklasmitfussl2639 I already have end-game sets. It's more about what comparting it to a "mathematically" correct set and for other players.
@@zukuu Undersandable, good point then.
Thank you so much for these guides! Nobody else seems to give a dam. About the lance, but it makes me feel invincible! Thanks again, mate.
Looking forward to part 2. With everything so jumbled now, it would be great to have a way/formula/guide to help determine the best lances for augments and play styles. Thank you for all the hard work you do!
I like how everyone can have their own decisions and choices based on what augments and charms they happen upon.
For real, there's tons of variety in builds.
Important note about sneak attack, "behind" the monster is pretty relative. Essentially, just being out of its immediate 180 degree sightline counts, meaning you can stand behind the head and hit it and trigger sneak attack.
Thanks, looking forward to more, you have by far the most helpfull lance channel on all of youtube
ah, i forgot to ask. The sets you showcase have dereliction on them. Is switching to mail of hellfire too much of a drop?
Do you have any thoughts on Grinder (S) builds now that they don't require a god charm? Can they measure up to these sets you've shown?
Please keep making sunbreak and mh videos for Lance they all have great live out into them and they are very useful.
Not a lance main, but I keep coming back because I like your videos lol
Hell yeah new way to play Lance just dropped.
Great video man

Which Ones do you suggest for water ,ice and fire element?

yheaaaaa baby new lance meta
Cant wait for the god roll builds 👍
Is there any plan to show what would the best theoretically achievable sets post-qurio crafting look like? Thanks for the useful lance video as always
Cool video was so sure that elemental lances where better once i saw the +10 element on the lv3 augment im surprised that the raw one is better

They are viable, but valstrax claws back a few matchups when you drop dereliction.
A lot of the sets don't max out affinity, or am I missing something? Thanks :)
How about lucent narge's lance with protective polish? Will it be better than valstrax? Let's just assume that the monsters are only slightly weak to dragon.
And im still between using Zino or Narwa lance for monsters that are weak to thunder
So if i understood well
Its better to start playing around SilverRath lance with fire and Kadachi with thunder ?
Having fun with Adren Rush + Bladescale evade lance for commemorative sake
Hey Gobul, it would be amazing to see a video where you talk about Dash Attack and Shield Charge :)
I started playing Lance in base Rise and continued into Sunbreak, seeing you play is very inspiring, your Lance skills are fucking nuts.
Admittedly I'm wary about using a double suicide build on lance. What if I want to drop Dereliction?
Would Ibushi still remain on top with the sheer number of elemental percentage skills we're seeing now?
Where can we see all these spread sheets laid out?
I'm running a sharpness upgrade on the kaiser lance with a protective polish build. So it gets purple. And somehow rolled protective polish on the kaiser waist too.

with qurios crafting I made with Valz lance
Attack Boost 7
Agitator 5
Bloodlust 1
Chain Crit 1
Coalescence 1
Countestrike 3
Critical Boost 3
Critical Eye 3
Mail of Hellfire 1
Offensive Guard 3
Weakness Exploit 3
Guard Up 1
Guard 1
Defense Boost 5 and Flinch Free as level 1 deco fillers
100% Affinity = WE(50) + Bloodlust(20) + Agitator(15) + CritEye(15)
I got [Offensive Guard] on [three armor parts] and managed to get [Chain Crit] on [one armor] and [Critical Boost] on [one armor]. Also got lucky with [Attack Boost 3 w/ lv3 slot charm]

great analysis; have you thought of using the Qurio Crafting mod to make an "idealized" armor set for TU1?
Think I'm sticking with Valstrax and focusing on other weapons for element in the meantime. Armour augments make me mald although I did get an extra attack on Barroth arms X and three attack on one piece isn't bad.
like the information, really don't like the medium. making sets off of videos is not a fun process
