You can travel to Kokoto if you upgrade the boat. There you can hunt Rathalos and Monoblos. Kirin should also appear in the quest list since Kushala, but it's random chance. You need to slay it in the mountains to get the Chameleos quest after hunting every village monster. I think Teostra is unlocked after that.
Anyone complaining about the Soulslike hitboxes should be forced to play early MonHun games until they crawl on the floor and beg Michael Zaki for forgiveness
I often think of it as the less of a hitbox problem and more of an animation problem. The games would have had major balancing problems if the hotboxes were adjusted to fit the animation better, instead I think the animation should have been adjusted to more properly match the hitbox.
Gypceros fake death worked in Unite if there were multiple mons to hunt. He's still a silly fella that more likely wakes up to 4 hunters stacking barrel bombs on him tho
it also works in MH2, I can definitely say that after playing online. It wakes up the MOMENT you get close to it (in low rank at least) so a lot of newer players get close without realizing, and it's wakeup is almost an instakill depending on your defense.
The bouncing that you mentioned on Daimyo Hermitaur is actually a mechanic that affects sharpness at yellow or lower. When attacking, if your attack connects near the beginning or end of the attack animation, it will have significantly reduced sharpness (0.3x (70% reduction) if it connected at the beginning, and 0.5x (50% reduction) if it connected at the end), and thus bounce on parts that you usually would not bounce on. This is a feature in every monster hunter game, but you don't really experience it that much in the newer games due to them usually giving you green sharpness super early.
That's... i never knew that. Part of me wishes for hunts where your weapons are just total dogshit but it's the best you can get because your hunter is stationed in a place with poverty.
Where'd you get that information and numbers because I can't find them anywhere online. Can you link em or something because that's an insane thing to hear
@@thechazz3230 The closest thing I can come up with is instances where a longsword can bounce at the tip but not the center of the blade, but that's due to damage modifiers and not the animation itself, something I've also never heard of.
11:37 You are bouncing sometimes because there is a late/early hit damage penalty for every blademaster weapon if you are below green sharpness. The times you do not bounce are because you are hitting during the 'sweetspot' of the weapon's animation.
As a monster hunter veteran, I'm still getting surprised by all the little things I learn every now and then about the games. Like the fact they they used this exact mechanic for Rise (which is how I even know it exists), or the fact that you can fish Nibelsnarf out of the ground under certain circumstances.
lest Shrek exit his home and yell at you to get out. for context, does that statement apply to pre 4th Gen (before it was reintroduced in GU as the Marshlands), or does it still apply in that game? because personally, i love the Marshlands... they're simply missing a few monsters.

I'm one of the weirdoes who kind-of like the old MH mentality of needing to prepare - hot / cold drinks, paintballs, fights getting nerfed from absolute nightmares to pretty easy with flash / sonic bombs and barrels etc. Also basically needing earplugs to not lose your mind against constantly screaming Khezu and the like. I get that crafting hot drinks isn't exactly exciting gameplay or even require anything besides the mats and some clicks, but it adds to the feeling of being an underdog that should use every tool available to not be horribly mangled, if that makes sense. It's strange, I realize it's so obviously conventionally "bad" game design but I still like it. Those goddamn crabs & boars constantly interrupting you can go straight to hell tho!
@@JeanKP14 I'm also a fan of the old MH survival aspects, including hot/cold drinks, but they are objectively uninteresting. Yes, they teach you about preparation but beyond the early stages of the game they just take up an inventory slot and add nothing interesting besides "immersion".
@@AsDf-fq1sh imo they encouraged seeing the areas as actual ecosystems rather than just really big boss arenas in world there was almost no point scavenging you don't even stop to gather herbs and honey anymore hell they cut the blue mushroom from the potion recipe so every herb spot is an automatic free potion in older games the hunt was the main event now its pretty much a boss rush to the end

Keep up the good work and I'd love to see more videos of monster hunter, both old games and new!
I hope this video gets more people to try out Monster Hunter Dos! It's my second favourite game in the series. Trust me when i say that Online has some of the best endgame grind in the series. The HR grind is worth it!!
@@RaveF0Xx not really. The endgame grind in MHDos is unlocking all the special monsters (Metal Raths, Fatalis) As you don't actually unlock them all once you hit the highest quest bracket. And for white fatalis armor, you need to make black fatalis armor and upgrade it to crimson and from there upgrade it to white. So a lot of rare material farming to make the rarer/stronger sets.
I find people's obsession with Shogun Ceanataur armour in MH2 very funny, whether it be based off how strong it is in other MH games (especially MHF2 and MHFU). But overall it's an ok set at best in Dos because attack up as a skill kinda sucks until MHFU, In MH2 Attack Up S is +3 raw, Attack Up M is +5 raw, and Attack Up L is +10 raw.
You’re forgetting that Prior to Generations weapon numbers were bloated, a hammer with like 400 raw attack listed is only really around 60 and the highest raw weapons in DOS are around ~120 true raw, plus Sharpness is a goated skill in Old Monster Hunter given the high percentage increases and bouncing being incredibly prone to shitty combo cheese, and this is literally the only armor skill that raises attack at this point! (Ailment up increases your ABILITY to inflict Poison, Paralysis, and Sleep, Heroics is higher damage but is risky especially with crabs everywhere, and Critical eye is nice for being the only Affinity increasing skill it isn’t reliable for damage boosts like attack boost even if the built in mind’s eye helps, Attack is also available before all these things.)
@@ProfessorRugops Portable titles started using true raw when showing weapon attack so games like P3rd, Generations, Rise. Mainline games have been using Bloat raw for a long time like MH1, MH2, MH3, MH4, World. The highest True raw in MH2 is Black Fatalis blade at 200 true raw 1008 bloat raw. Sharpness +1 is a very valuable skill in Dos but not really until High Rank as there are only 2 weapons (+ Gaurga weapons) that can get to white sharpness in Village/Low Rank. White Sharpness has an insane 1.5 sharpness multiplier that they promptly nerfed after Dos and gave to Purple sharpness in FU before they nerfed Purple sharpness in MH3U down to 1.44 mod. The true best skill in Dos imo is Critical Eye+1 as it is secretly a combo skill and gives Minds Eye at 15 points. Heroics doesn't exist in Dos btw. You can get access to better skills such as 10 points of expert fairly early on all it requires is access to the snowy mountain. Shogun armour kinda just sucks in Dos.
@@CanadianAdim Heroics exists in DOS but is called by the Potential skill, additionally Green Sharpness is a MUCH higher damage increase from yellow relative to other Sharpness levels, Critical eye (expert) is fine but only really gets good when raw does as even at level 3 it gives an overall flat damage increase of 5%, less than that of Attack up level 3 for every weapon that isn’t Fatalis, Mind’s eye is good though since bouncing sucks.

It's really not bad game design? It teaches you preparation! And gives some risk to the environment.
@@thesilverblueman I agree that scavenging isn't something you do a lot in World, but the enviroment is even more important there thanks to the hunter actions. Playing SnS really makes you love how they designed every World map
I've been replaying FU for a while now with a friend new to the series and we've made it to mid HR for now, and honestly that preparation thing isn't relevant for long enough. Like in LR 4 you already have quite the stock for preparation to be reduced to merely switching inventory sets before you depart
@@cristianclemente2030 can you clarify what you mean about the environment?
Excellent Video PakPak, well worth the wait and hours of streaming your agony.
My only regret is that I was unable to start Dos in time to play alongside you.
Also, as a 5'7 gunlance main, I've heard your crimes against my kind. Your toes shall be full bursted and wyvern fired until you submit to our superiority.
Please wait while I climb the beanstalk to reach you.
Kind regards
i played monster hunter before and died probably over 500+ times
I'd love to see more vids like this about the other earlier MH games. First video I've seen of you and I absolutely loved it. Subbed
17:46 Oh hey, it's me
Love this vid have watched it atleast 4 time already can't wait for p2
You know it’s a good day when PayPal uploads
This video was incredible you’re like gamer scamboli reviews who isn’t afraid to admit they’re wrong
PAK PAK VIDEO!!!!!!!!
I remember playing original monster hunter as a kid. The wyvern egg delivery quest was a mandatory quest for like a 1 star. i quit the moment i saw a rathalos chasing me.
Wow this game looks amazing I should try it out
I highly recommend it!
That hit box right at the beginning would make a Dark Souls game blush.
Old world monhun games are the reason why I like ranged weapons, especially bows. It's less stressful fighting from a distance.
Great video man!
Found this video last night and what a treat it was. While I've only played a small amount of MHDos, I did play through the village of MH1 and this video brought back a lot of painful, but loved memories of that time.
Gandalfsoda more loke Bannedelfsoda gottem
@@Lutyrannus more like BOOtryannus cus im boooing you and throwing tomatoes at you
What exactly do you mean by endgame grind? Wasn’t MH4 the first one with a real „endgame“ how we know it today?
@@RaveF0Xx not really. The endgame grind in MHDos is unlocking all the special monsters (Metal Raths, Fatalis) As you don't actually unlock them all once you hit the highest quest bracket. And for white fatalis armor, you need to make black fatalis armor and upgrade it to crimson and from there upgrade it to white. So a lot of rare material farming to make the rarer/stronger sets.
after this video I will never try dos, also the monsters look boring compared to world
love monster hunter. Started with the freedom unite on the IPAD in 2013 and have done 3, 4, generations, world, rise since. Very good games
People just see attack up and think "that means it's really good"
@@ProfessorRugops your frame of reference is fucked because white sharpness is super nerfed in the PSP games compared to the PS2 ones.
This video is single handedly responsible for Congalala coming back in Wilds.
While mostly everything else is overedited regurgitated memes with ''funny'' loud noises, your ''review'' is a fantastic example of how you can be funny without being obnoxious. Take my sub, hopefully you make more monster hunter vids like these.
Excellent vocabulary and articulation. Your voice suits these traits. Subbed
MH Dos is the best MH game ever
I started Monster hunter with mhu
And i have great memories about it too.
I loved the atmosphère of thé old Monster hunter. And your vidéois a great testimony of the global feeling a lot of us had while discovering this franchise !
Thank you !
33:08 is when you suddenly decide to drop the unfunny "teehee pronouns" joke? Bruhhhh...
It's funny because it makes twitter r*pists mad
Cope seethe and dilate

Can't tell if he's serious or making fun of the assholes who do that weird shit because f pronouns.
Really love when UA-camrs make videos about topics they are passionate about. I’m here for monster hunter!
I've been watching a lot of videos about older monster hunter titles and I gotta say this was probably my favourite so far!
Brother this is an excellently written, edited and produced video.
The quick cuts and zoom ins aren't over done and are actually hilarious.

Amazing based gaming video, this was a really good watch! Keep up the good work Pak!
Lunastra is my favorite monster from world. Fight, set, everything is awesome. You are not alone my friend.
I think the actual konga lore for the stench is that it causes your throat to swell this preventing you from drinking or eating
Great vid, man. As someone new to your channel, i'd say whatever you're doing new is working
A video like this for Tri would be amazing
Love the vid! The "return to crab" part was super funny
i remember a guy in jumbo asking parts to make a mast for a ship. when you complete it you can go back to 1 forest and hills.
Omg I am so happy to see you covering more monster hunter content aaaaahhh I highly recommend playing Monhun Stories, both of them, they’re awesome! 🤩 Keep up the good work Pak!
First video of yours I've seen, very interested to see more of this! I look forwards to hearing how you enjoy Wilds when that comes out.
Really great video! Loved some of your horror videos and loved the humor in this one.
Hey! Good stuff! Man, your video just made me realize that the evolution of the game went great miles by now. I think I should play the old versions again for nostalgia.
Man you repeating “crabs” in the intro had me laughing hysterically
Cephadrome was always a pain in the ass in the early games -- you had to wait along its path and hit it to get it to pop - it was a rough fight until later when you have 4 people all with sonic bombs
This was incredibly fun I can only hope for more videos on the series
