The first time Red ever spoke was actually in the first games. If you go to Saffron City and talk to the copycat girl, she'll mimic what is said to her. Unless she's reading Red's mind, Red is speaking to this girl.
We can actually determine Red's age through, of all things, Porygon! In Red and Blue (and by extension the JP Red/Green) Porygon is said to be created with recent technology. In Sun and Moon, it's said to have been created 20 years ago. So if you go by Red/Green taking place in modern day at the time, 1996, and Red was 11 years old at the time, he'd be 31 in Sun and Moon
You are assuming that Porygon was made the year Red started going on his journey. What if Porygon had been made five years before Red went on his journey? Then Red would be 26. No where in R/B/Y or FR/LG does it say Porygon has only just been made. I mean it very well could have been just made but I feel like Reds sprite in US/UM is not 31 years old.
The covid pandemic was recent... despite having started over a year ago at this point I believe? Recent gives it I'd say a 1-3 year window, 5 if generous.
I believe Red is 21 instead. Annabel from Emerald appears in the Mega Timeline 10 years before SM, which means Gen 3 takes place 10 years before the Alola games. Mina’s age in Let’s Go also supports this, along with a few Easter eggs in ORAS
"...Meaning sports also canonically exist in the Pokemon world and are televised." Well yes, this has since been confirmed more blatantly in Black/White with Nimbasa City lol
Is not confirmed, but in ORAS, if you knock on one door of mauville city hotel you will be answered with "..." , so is possibly red, or just someone who as nothing to say
Considering that the Hoenn games are supposed to be occurring at the same time as the Kanto games, probably not Red, but interesting to note nonetheless.
@@TheWispGuy two interesting fan theories that could potentially account for this are: 1. The firing of the mega weapon (which creates the mega timeline) also causes distortions in time, causing some events to occur earlier or later then in the non-mega timeline. Some of the support for this is the references to stuff "10 years ago" (as easter eggs) in ORAS, Wally appearing only slightly older in SM/USUM (childhood chronic pneumonia, the disease I believe wally was confirmed to suffer from, can cause stunted growth, but not to that degree), and a younger Mina appearing in LGPE. In this theory then, ORAS is not taking place at the same time as RBY or LGPE (which is still debated as to being the mega timeline kanto game or not, there's evidence for and against), but rather a little further on in the timeline, with Brendan/May having been born a little later (they are still 13 in ORAS based on in-game dialogue) and Norman taking the job of Gym leader later on. 2. Mentioned briefly earlier, but the second possible theory is that LGPE are the mega timeline version of kanto events. In that case, Red, having gone on his journey a few years earlier with green and blue, could be outside of Kanto during the main story events. This could be why only Blue appears prior to the post game and why red's hanging out at the league, he basically just got back in town and heard someone new had become champion, especially since in the LGPE version of events your rival mentions that the champion being a permanent part of the elite four is something they only just established (so he might have wanted to test out the new system). Or, it could just be a random easter egg, but where's the fun in that ;)
Honestly I kinda consider the Let’s Go games canon. Like apart of me doesn’t want to, but it just makes sense that it should be canon. The Let’s Go games are the only Kanto games with mega evolution, meaning that those games would be apart of the mega timeline. So in the mega timeline, Chase (I believe the Let’s Go Male protag’s name), defeated Team Rocket while in the non mega time line, Red defeated Team Rocket. I do like to think that Red is always the canon one to defeat Team Rocket, cause that’s his legacy.
yeah the teams for all 3 are sort of conglomeration nods to their various appearances (with some filling in for type coverage of course). Arcanine, Pikachu, and Lapras could all be anime references since in the anime ash (red's stand in) has of course, a Pikachu (the popularity of which being why pokemon yellow was made in the first place) and a lapras, while the anime opening (season 1) very prominently showed ash running alongside an arcanine (and a rapidash, but since the rival already gets that one I can see not choosing it).
5:20 Another interesting factoid about Red's Pikachu in this game is that he has the exact same 4 moves as Ash's Pikachu at the time these game's were released being Thunderbolt, Volt Tackle, Iron Tail and Quick Attack.
Fun Fact: The unused default name of “Ninten” was actually a nod to the popular “Nintended” series by UA-camr PaPaSea that would come to be 24 years later.
I think that his team in GSC is supposed to be a symbolic representation of all the possible starters of the Kanto games, including the rival's starter in yellow, and not a canonical team in the sense that he actually obtained those pokemon somehow
I think they should have made 3 seperate teams for him with him always using the one that matches your starter. Like if you chose cyndaquil then he has: Charizard, Primeape, Vileplume, Lapras, Jolteon and Snorlax For chikorita: Venusaur, Snorlax, Lapras, Flareon, Fearow and Primeape For totodile: Blastoise, Snorlax, Flareon, Vileplume, Fearow and Primeape
I think that Ninten “inside joke” (for lack of better words) has survived through many years as well. Last time I saw it was in Mario Kart DS. The time trial ghosts from the dev PRs would be named Ninten.
Pretty sure Red and Blue being in Let's GO is justified by ORAS' whole "alternate dimension" stuff which can be defended by Let's Go having Megas while gen 1 and FRLG don't
Red in manga is actually based on Red in the game not the other way around as the game came out first. The games released on February 27, 1996 in Japan while the Manga was first published over a year later
Speaking of Pokemon Masters, unlike the Main games were Red Shares a Battle Theme with Lance (Except Sun and Moon were he shares Battle Theme with Blue) Red has his Own Seperate Theme
Just for clarification, the games (released 1996) came out *before* the manga (released 1997). So, the Red in Pokémon Adventures is based on Red from the video games and not the other way around. Also, it's entirely possible that Red traded Arcanine for Blue's Charizard since, as of LGPE, his canon team prior to Mt. Silver included an Arcanine while Blue never has one if Red's Starter was Bulbasaur.
red is 31 in sun and moon since those games take place 20 years after red and blue. mimikyu's dex entry states pikachu became a popular pokemon 20 years ago and thats cuz of red's pikachu winning the indigo plateue
red is probably my favorite protag in pokemon, maybe not my favorite designed protag, but the simplicity of him is charming all the same. i love that he keeps making appearances to this day, was so excited when he and blue appeared in sun and moon for their honey moon or whatever it was. just such a fun character, love that guy :)
I wonder where Red and Blue are supposed to live in the let’s go games, since the protagonist and rival seem to be living in their houses from the main series games. The least they could have done was expand Pallet Town to give all four characters a home.

something interesting i found out a while back is that blue the rival to red isnt actually Blue but actually the character green. they changed the names to reflect the versions we have in the west.
For the English dub, it’s a fact that Blue’s name is Blue, and incorrect to call him Green, but in Japan, it’s fact to cal Green and incorrect to call him Blue. If you call Blue Green because that’s what his Japanese name is, then you should probably memorise all the Pokémon species’ Japanese names.
Technically in the Mega timeline's Kanto games(LGPE), Red should be older than his og timeline counterpart(RBY,FRLG)considering that he started his adventure before the pokedex was created and before the whole team rocket event. Also, Red in the *game* came first, not the manga
Speaking of timelines, I believe there are four general ones. The first one is gens I and II (mainly due to the cutoff to Gen III and remakes). The second one had III, IV, and V (no Megas). Third has VI and VII (mega timeline, Origins could be a stand in for the Red/Green games here). Fourth would be Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee since Red didn't face Team Rocket here. As for Red and Blue's teams in Gen II, Red definitely seems to be based on his Yellow team, and Blue seems to have all non-Starter Pokemon from Red/Blue. Would be weird for Blue to not have a starter, so he did probably end up trading with Red at some point.
What's really weird is that him and Red use their Yellow sprites and in Yellow Red can obtain all the starters. So if Yellow is the canon game, Blue should still have his Eeveelution starter
Red’s Machamp that he has in Let’s Go is an in-game trade the player can get if they trade a Cubone for an NPC’s Machoke, which then evolves. This trade is exclusive to Yellow Version. His Arcanine is likely an homage to Arcanine was supposed to be (and continues to be referred to as) a legendary Pokémon, so it’s fitting in a world where Red isn’t the legendary hero that he has an “almost legendary” Pokémon
Before Red in HGSS, the highest level pokemon an npc could have is Barry's starter. (Torterra/Infernape/Empoleon) Specifically in Platinum, since you can rematch him several times and his starter goes to level 85. Only 3 levels short of Red'd Pikachu.
I feel like the Let’s Go games are on the same timeline as the adventures manga, just by going how similar their teams are in both mediums. I don’t get the Machamp and Arcanine being on Red’s team either. I guess Machamp represents one of the original four trade evolution Pokemon and Arcanine is a version exclusive to both Red and Fire Red, just like how on Green’s Let’s Go team she has a Blue/Leaf Green version exclusive Victreebel.
In the manga Red and Blue accidentally trade Pokemon for a brief time and during this time Red evolved Blue's Machoke into Machamp. Maybe this is a reference to that?
Maybe for the different teams thing, they could just have those Pokemon but not use them as much. I mean, we the players along with many anime and manga protagonist are catching lots of Pokemon to fill out the Pokedex and to use for different situations and battles. They're just doing the same thing.
we can also confirm that XY happens in between BW2 and SM/USUM, because the alola games have Dexio and Sina from XY as NPCs, and at some point they confirm to have helped out the Kalos Comrades quite recently
While Red in the current timeline from the games could have chosen Bulbasaur as his starter, a lot of art also shows him with Pikachu instead. Now here's a thing I've been recently thinking of. In Yellow, When the player crosses the nugget bridge we see Blue leaving the very same place where Charmander is given to us.
Y'know I've always wondered what conversations with Red are like. Blue: Hey Red I'm gonna go get some dinner wanna come? Red: ... Blue: Alright cool whatcha want then? Red: ... Blue: Oh, I'm going to McDonphan's. Red: ... Blue: Really, just some soda? Red: ... Blue: Fine fine whatever. Just know that you are missing out. Their new fries meal is amazing. Red: ... Blue: Dude, why do you always have to be such a buzzkill. Anyway, later. Red: ...
"WEIRD" fact about Red: The MANGA-Red (from Pokémon Adventures aka Pokémon Special) is based on the GAME-Red. The game released first, the manga had its first chapter release a whole year later. I'm not even sure how anyone could get that order wrong, because it would otherwise imply that the manga existed before the games did which would just not work out...
about min 5:30 where he says that 88 is the max lvl of an npc outside battle tower, you can encounter a trainer on kanto or johto (i dont remember but i think kanto) with a lvl 100 magikarp
Arcanine is Red exclusive and Machamp is a trade evolution. Green uses Victrebell, Ninetails and Gengar which are Green/LeafGreen exclusives and a trade evolution. Blue uses Gyarados, exeggutor and alakazam are non exclusive and a trade evolution.
5:51 pokemon black and white included sports depictions right? Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I always thought the inclusion of the Big Stadium and Small Court in Nibasa was strange - but from the viewpoint of fleshing out the Pokemon world as a whole and providing lore titbits, it was a good add. As well as the ones from the stadium and court, you can also infer more possibilities of televised sports that may be popular in the Pokemon world from the trainer classes of Athlete, Cyclist, Golfer, Skier, Surfer and Swimmer... And and others I'm probably forgetting.
6:04 This isnt necessarily true, i dont want to be an ass but the Japanese 'red' is literally spelt 'reddo' which is just the japanese way of saying the english word 'red'. Red in japanese is Aka, or 赤 I assume this is the same in korean, where they would just pronounce the english word 'red' but with their own accent and not the actual colour red
I'm not saying its wrong, but technically espeon is a gen 2 Pokemon. Although, Eevee is a gen 1 gift Pokemon as mentioned. It's an interesting idea implying there is a possibility that when red started using his gifted Pokemon he picked Eevee after the discovery of the umbreon and espeon evolutions. Idk, just thought it was interesting.
Pokemon Yellow Red Pikachu follows you but, in Gen II and Gen IV remakes it's no longer following him meaning its either too cold or he got it trained to go into it's pokeball and or the theory that Pokemon Yellow is Ash. Some people prefer not to use Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow cuz of its stats preferring Zapdos or Jolteon or possibly an Electabuzz on their team instead. I prefer Pikachu cuz at least I can talk to it, max out its potential and I just like it on my team. It brings back memories of playing Pokemon HeartGold.
I honesty love Red. He's my favorite Pokèmon protagonist and his Ace Pokèmon is Charizard! A Pokèmon that is fairly strong is a true hero on the arena. They both fit so well that- This is probably why Red is most iconic to Kanto.
My theory for let's go is that after Red's journey he (and Blue) became celebrities and the games are ways for other trainers to go through the same journey, challenging the gyms and defeating team rocket. Basically lgpe are games within the world of pokemon after Red and Blue became celebrities
I’m pretty sure it’s just an alternate timeline where Red and Blue went on their Journeys earlier than usual, in game Blue mentions that he had to use a pen and paper rather than a Pokédex to record Pokémon, because at the time the Pokédex wasn’t invented.
I always loved Red, not only because he is badass, but because all these discrepancies too. All that hypothesis about his age, where he really came from (that theory about Stadium 2 he may be from Johto), and his pokés... Despite all his appearences in a lot of games.... This just makes him more a legend than an actual character. I know the manga exists, but still, they're different from the games and anime and spin-offs. I like to think that he is so mysterious just to emphasize that he is a legend.
5:50 Lol you know they have had sports teams throughout the series of pokemon going back to gen 2 and idk if the movies are canon but ash referenced the minnesota vikings football team in I believe the first one. lol Either way when you say that mean's sports exist in the Popkemon world was mind boggling to me. lol like of course they do. lol
Anime isn’t canon so everything you said is invalid (no offence), but it is true that sports has existed for a long time in the Pokémon universe, canon and anime.
Interestingly enough, MOTHER Ninten's name wasn't his official name until Super Smash Bros. Brawl, being referred to as Boku (One of the many Japanese words for I or Me) in screenshots for MOTHER or Ken in the official novelization, so its possible that Ninten was re-used from this unused name for Red.
Although the only difference between red and Ash Ketchum is that Ash Ketchum does not catch legendary Pokemon in the anime that's the only difference between them
In French he's called Red the English word, not Rouge (which means red in french), that's another variation Same with Blue (who should be called Bleu following that logic)
The first time Red ever spoke was actually in the first games. If you go to Saffron City and talk to the copycat girl, she'll mimic what is said to her. Unless she's reading Red's mind, Red is speaking to this girl.

So close to 100k subs, keep up the good work, love the nintendid series
Another great video 😁
Red is one of my favourite characters in Pokémon, I hope we see more of these videos for other characters 👀
Today is manga Red's birthday! Wooooo! So if Red was 11 years old in 1996 and now it's 2021 Red should be 36 years old. . . . . . danggggg
Pokemon crystal was my 1st game and I discovered red and didn't knew anything about him. So my typhlosion barely carried me as i was unprepared
Very interesting video, thanks Papa!
Woah i come back after a few months and you have almost 100k! Keep going!
I'm so happy that the video has the twitch announcement at the end. They feel like they're missing something when they don't have it
Y'know I've always wondered what conversations with Red are like.
Red: ...
Lol I love this!
"WEIRD" fact about Red:
The MANGA-Red (from Pokémon Adventures aka Pokémon Special) is based on the GAME-Red.
The game released first, the manga had its first chapter release a whole year later.
I'm not even sure how anyone could get that order wrong, because it would otherwise imply that the manga existed before the games did which would just not work out...
Ah yes, a FatherOcean video.

Let's Go is evidently a different Universe. :)
7:58 i saw this sprite in emerald kaizo
5:51 Yep. Not even counting Pokéathlon, you can see athletes in the stadiums in Nimbasa City in the Unova games.
about min 5:30 where he says that 88 is the max lvl of an npc outside battle tower, you can encounter a trainer on kanto or johto (i dont remember but i think kanto) with a lvl 100 magikarp
*Commenting is good for the UA-cam algorithm*
1:56 isn't it the other way around? Red in the Manga is based of Red from the Games.?
In manga, red and green(blue) accidentally traded all of their pokemon and because of it, green's(blue) machoke evolve into machamp
Very fitting to have a red video on his birthday (in the manga they give them birthdays)
that's so odd that Red has a Jolteon in Stadium 2 since it's from the same gen/region as Pikachu but still a cool alternate team
thank you father sea! very cool!
I liked how you didn’t use red in the thumbnail
Red is the trainer in the thumbnail
@@PaPaSea oops I thought that he was the main character from the let’s go games my bad
I think people assume you play as Ash in pokemon yellow because it was meant to be more like the anime since Giovanni does have Persian on his team
Maybe the Arcanine and Machamp is a reference to when Red and Blue accidentally traded their Pokemons in the Manga?
Arcanine is Red exclusive and Machamp is a trade evolution. Green uses Victrebell, Ninetails and Gengar which are Green/LeafGreen exclusives and a trade evolution. Blue uses Gyarados, exeggutor and alakazam are non exclusive and a trade evolution.
@@DexterAMV Again, I'm referring to the events that happen on the Manga

5:51 pokemon black and white included sports depictions right? Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I always thought the inclusion of the Big Stadium and Small Court in Nibasa was strange - but from the viewpoint of fleshing out the Pokemon world as a whole and providing lore titbits, it was a good add. As well as the ones from the stadium and court, you can also infer more possibilities of televised sports that may be popular in the Pokemon world from the trainer classes of Athlete, Cyclist, Golfer, Skier, Surfer and Swimmer... And and others I'm probably forgetting.
Great video!
In pokemon black, white, black 2, and white 2, you can enter sports arenas and fight the athletes, bad security I say
He also appeared in super smash bros as pokemon trainer
I wish Red's manga team were acknowledged more

This isnt necessarily true, i dont want to be an ass but the Japanese 'red' is literally spelt 'reddo' which is just the japanese way of saying the english word 'red'.
Red in japanese is Aka, or 赤
I assume this is the same in korean, where they would just pronounce the english word 'red' but with their own accent and not the actual colour red
same in Brazilian Portuguese the word for red is "vermelho". i even remember talking to my cousin about it and he said to say it as "red"
SAUR was Reds starter
Red is called Red in French (according to your screencap). The color red in French is “Rouge”. His name is not translated in every language.
Loving the quality content
that outro plug. lol.
Electabuzz is not catchable in Pokémon yellow
I honesty love Red. He's my favorite Pokèmon protagonist and his Ace Pokèmon is Charizard! A Pokèmon that is fairly strong is a true hero on the arena. They both fit so well that- This is probably why Red is most iconic to Kanto.
Wake up babe, new PaPaSea video dropped
1:15 You can obtain Red's entire mt silver team.
Espeon, who's from gen 2: AM I a joke to you?
You get eevee, which evovles in the day to espeon
@@PaPaSea Yes, but he said in yellow, in which espeon does not exist in.
The ending was super cute
My theory for let's go is that after Red's journey he (and Blue) became celebrities and the games are ways for other trainers to go through the same journey, challenging the gyms and defeating team rocket. Basically lgpe are games within the world of pokemon after Red and Blue became celebrities
I’m pretty sure it’s just an alternate timeline where Red and Blue went on their Journeys earlier than usual, in game Blue mentions that he had to use a pen and paper rather than a Pokédex to record Pokémon, because at the time the Pokédex wasn’t invented.
The thing about if that Red is Red from pokemon yellow really can spark conversation and debate haha
I like to think that he is so mysterious just to emphasize that he is a legend.
redcant talk but everyone understands him or not but they understand him
Also, Red recently got two new lines in Masters: “I accept your challenge!” and “Congratulations! You won!”
Although the only difference between red and Ash Ketchum is that Ash Ketchum does not catch legendary Pokemon in the anime that's the only difference between them
You're so wrong
Red vs cynthia...
There’s a NPC with a level 100 Magicarp in one of the games. OMAS I pretty sure
Such a good video man
in the latest update of pokemon masters ex you face red at the end of the story and he congratulates the player after beating him
Ash being the player in yellow was my thoughts as a kid. Then one grows up and sees it was red it was always red lol
I saw the likes change from 999 to 1K, I feel special
In French he's called Red the English word, not Rouge (which means red in french), that's another variation
Same with Blue (who should be called Bleu following that logic)
Can Red saying "Words are unecessary" be a reference to Depeche Mode's famous song "Enjoy the Silence" with it's line "Words are very unecessary" ???
nice video. i liked when you made it
TIL Red from the games is based on Red from the manga that came out a year after the games.
I'm pretty sure red was born on august 8th and has a blood type of O positive, if I remember correctly
I didn't know editing your comment deletes your heart... sh*t
