Great tutorial!! I'm currently trying to help my neighbor with his 2012 Sierra (5.3) with a P0340 CMP code, it just shut off and only cranks over now.. and seems to have a lope while cranking. I replaced the CMP for him but the code remains and still won't start.. could it have dropped a lifter or jumped timing.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 👍
when i was changing my front crank seal, i noticed the two wires going to the magnetic adjuster was burnt through the insulation and the two wires were touching. i could tell they have been like that for a while. i had no check engine light or any signs anything was wrong. i disasembled the connector and heat shrinked the wire and checked for any other damage to its wire harness. Anything else i should be concerned with? i have not had the chance to run it yet since i done that. Also the truck was tunned while the wires were touching. concerned that the tune was over compencating for the possible lack of adjustment.
