  • One of the most highly regarded Special Operations operators in American military history shares his war stories and personal battle with PTS.
As a senior non-commissioned officer of Delta Force, the most elite and secretive special operations unit in the U.S. military, Command Sergeant Major Tom Satterly fought some of this country's most fearsome enemies. Over the course of twenty years and thousands of missions, he's fought desperately for his life, rescued hostages, killed and captured terrorist leaders, and seen his friends maimed and killed around him.
All Secure is in part Tom's journey into a world so dark and dangerous that most Americans can't contemplate its existence. It recounts what it is like to be on the front lines with one of America's most highly trained warriors. As action-packed as any fiction thriller, All Secure is an insider's view of "The Unit."
Tom is a legend even among other Tier One special operators. Yet the enemy that cost him three marriages, and ruined his health physically and psychologically, existed in his brain. It nearly led him to kill himself in 2014; but for the lifeline thrown to him by an extraordinary woman it might have ended there. Instead, they took on Satterly's most important mission-saving the lives of his brothers and sisters in arms who are killing themselves at a rate of more than twenty a day.
Told through Satterly's firsthand experiences, it also weaves in the reasons-the bloodshed, the deaths, the intense moments of sheer terror, the survivor's guilt, depression, and substance abuse-for his career-long battle against the most insidious enemy of all: Post Traumatic Stress. With the help of his wife, he learned that by admitting his weaknesses and faults he sets an example for other combat veterans struggling to come home.

Fun fact, my old unit was credited for saddamn in Iraq. Delta guys truly are the Heros of our military without taking credit for it. Thanks for being the one to shine light on guys like Tom. I know he’s not going to do it himself. He even remembers 4th ID as the support unit that was there on the ground. Kinda tired of hearing bout sEALs and recently learning how they use some things as recruiting tactics.

Everyone does it. SEALs had the press for a while. delta had it for decades after Somalia. It’s cyclical.

@@thopkins2271 u need to go back and do more research. SEALS use Hollywood as a recruiting tactic while delta shy away from it. Watch 12 strong for example. It took over 12 years for them to make a movie about those 12 brave army green berets. They did it the right way. WAITED UNTIL Everything was declassified before even thinking about making a movie. That’s seal that killed bin Laden couldn’t wait to tell his story. Guys like Tom tells his story truly to help other vets. That seal that killed bin laden did not do it “for the Americans that lost their lives on 9/11.” He did it for money. The navy spec op really need to change their SOP when it comes to OPSEC.

@@FMD023 24 SEALS were on that hit. Only two made themselves public. One of them made $0 from the book. The other made the overwhelming majority of his money from public speaking.
I personally know four OD-D guys from Somalia and dozens more. It’s okay. They all do it.
The other thing to remember is that it’s all bullshit. It was an important story to tell. The American people needed to hear it. Nothing in these books was made clear other than O’Neill really wants to take credit for Red’s shot.
Also, absolutely nothing of value about any operational practices was disclosed in either book. Nothing that can’t be seen in five thousand PowerPoint presentations available to the public on .mil .army and other .gov sites.
I don’t need to do more research. I’ve been closer by association to the men at the tippity tip than most. It’s fine. And all these units have dudes that are png’d for running their mouth. That’s also fine.

this is possible due to the fact that he was part of the most secretive and elite unit in the U.S. military if not the world.
