Every legit Sf or SO guy is fairly soft spoken and incredibly intelligent. They always speak well with correct grammar and their disposition is calm yet confident. This guy reminds me of mike Ritland
There's split second moments where you can see real pain in his eyes.
Those tip of the spear shooters who honed their craft during the mid-2000s, were asked to shoulder a lot more than was their share.

No they werent, they signed up for SOF, you know youre going into the shit. They try to break you by giving you more than you can handle because thats how the job will be x10.
@@Sean-rn9kw bro no one fucking knew what 04-09 was gonna be like period, fallujah ramadi especially fucking ramadi and I was just a normal 0331 marine grunt and we had insane trigger time by the end of that deployment I cant even fathom the kind of trigger time T1 SMUs were getting. Their rotation schedule was ridiculous you had dudes getting double digit rotations in a 5 year period. Training doesn't prepare you mentally for years of sustained combat period whether you are a standard grunt or a Delta operator.

I'm so glad you said that because it's exactly what I was thinking but I didn't really want to say it outright. I hadn't heard of Brett Gilliland before now and once I saw the thumbnail,I was playing a guessing game of in my head of which one of them is the Delta Force guy,eventually I figured it's probably the guy on the right who looks the least like what you would expect a Special Forces guy to look like.

There are many common traits with tier 1 guys, not the least of which is their smarts, humility, can do attitude and the relentless pursuit of excellence in everything they do. When you combine that with great selection/leadership/training/equipment you have a winning formula.

My honest opinion, the chance to meet and speak face-to-face with men of this Caliber is not easy to come by. So if you are fortunate to see this interview, it is highly advised to hearken.
I worked daily with 2 gentlemen that later went to SF and at least one of them, Delta Force. One is now Colonel Martin Schmidt, now a Brigade Commander. Both were very calm individuals just like Tom Satterly.

I always wanted to go Delta. All I ever made was regular infantry but I'm actually proud of that considering where I came from originally. I've never been the toughest guy, usually one of the weakest, but I never quit.

A lot of it is the luck of the draw. You sound highly motivated and that counts for a lot. I feel the same way. Missed some opportunities, was offered helicopter pilot school but didn't believe in myself.
@@BrettGilliland1 Thank you sir. I'll never forget a platoon movement FTX we had one weekend. I was a cherry private at the time. It was a forty-eight hour suckfest of nonstop go-go-go. Full kit and ruck marching through the thickets, brush, and fields of Kansas in the middle of summer. We started out with twenty-five plus guys and ended with a super sqaud of maybe nine guys. Mostly NCOs and some Joes. I was a tiny guy and had the SAW the whole time. Everytime someone fellout I was like, "NOPE! Not me.."
Everytime someone fellout you had to pickup their gear and carry on. That part sucked. Felt like I was carrying everything by Sunday evening. Lol

@@simonostinelli493 Their secret to being so seemingly humble, without having to brag, I’ve noticed, is that they don’t say much of anything about themselves, but instead, they talk about how incredibly professional and ridiculously good their teammates are… Everyone has to measure up to a certain extremely high level to be a part of that team, and since they are/were a part of that team, all they have to do is say that the guys they worked with are top notch badasses and the best warriors they’ve ever seen in any combat role (which, we all know is the Damn truth) And it automatically is giving credit to themselves, without ever once having to brag or seem like an egotistical asshole. It just makes them that much cooler! Lol

Btw my experience is is near death experiences I’ve had. The only thing you want when death is baring down on you is LOVE! You absolutely crave love. If you have love all of your problems go away. The problem is all the training I’ve been in I’ve never once heard anyone mention it. So now younger FFs I make it clear to make that a point. Make sure your family life is good. Make sure you have love and you will be invincible when the day comes. Not invincible in a wreckless way but as in fears will fall away. That burden that gets in your stomach. You just feel peace if you have love.
You also crave human contact. Suddenly that saying. You don’t wanna die alone made sense. You crave and want another human so bad.

That SEAL that wrote about killing Bin Laden can learn a lot from this man. Totally tell he was in the Army by his terminologies. Thanks for sharing this video. It's nice to see what a quiet professional looks and talks like. Speaks so intelligently and you see no arrogance about him. It's always those "supposed to be an hour or quick mission" that gets you. A vehicle recovery mission that was supposed to only be 2 hours ended up being 15. Thank god i didn'tt see any of my battle buddies die but did she his leg snapped in half. Respect to this man for being able to talk about his experiences.

@@BrettGilliland1 most of the things Tom said I was already thinking or trying to learn and get better at. My god it’s scary accurate how he describes his life experiences and it aligns with mine. When in deployment you aren’t scared when it’s in the moment. You start to get scared once it’s over and u start thinking about it laying in bed. Mind blown 🤯. Low key it makes me feel good inside knowing my mindset or thinking is the same as a delta operator such as Tom. Closest thing I will ever be to “ special forces” or the time I tried to drop a packet for selection to get out of my first deployment. 😂 I’m prepping to go back to grad school at USC with their MBV program. Watching this video is making me really confident I will not only succeed but how far above people’s expectation I will succeed by. Will definitely support this channel. Currently work for the VA, when I started I had clear intentions of helping fellow vets but feel I no longer contributing to that by working here. Hopefully pursuing higher education at USC will do that. Again thank you for this, it beats the hell out of using false motivation as one of your motivation factors.

He said in that unit, if you ask people "what do you think of person x?"
Half the people you ask will say "he's squared away and rock solid"
And the other half the people you ask will say "he's a piece of shit"

I am Israeli American. In Israel there is also “The Unit”, similar to Delta. It amazes me how intelligent those guys are and how they look like normal people and not like war machines. Many of them become top executives of companies and three were Prime Ministers.
You are right about all of that! Good information to know to about the Israel military too. Lots of them definitely go on to second careers.

The first casualty of 911 was Daniel Lewis, an ex-Matkal guy, an Israeli American young billionaire and Tech Executive who tried to take down the terrorists and apparently missed that there was one behind him who killed him with a knife. Previous Prime Ministers : Barak, Netanyahu and the one in present time Benett all served in The Unit. Also I know one past Mossad chief and one deputy were from The Unit.
I was personally invited for selection but didn’t pass. It was before I even joined the army (before 18 years of age ).

Cordon and search was so freaking valuable. The training for kicking in doors in is a little contradicting. If a bad guys in there the odds are against you. But 9 times out of 10 the house is going to have no HVT's, instead you have to worry about shooting some kid. So basically the training tells you not to hesitate but it also says you need to hesitate lol.
Having a inner and outer cordon with the option to call in an Apache with hellfires has saved a lot of lives and innocent families because at my level roughly 80 percent of the Intel was wrong. I'm sure at this dudes level things were a bit more narrowed down. Hopefully

A Navy Seal isn't automaticaly a Tier 1 Operator, unless he's Devgru as you said. Also, do you need a Ghost Writer if become a Seal?

If all they had was a bag of money worth maybe 5 or 10 dollars, why the hell were we sending in all of our best assets for this? And such ridiculously calus and risky tactics, dropping right into a terrorist haven city.. the worst part is the reign of terror in Iraq and Afghanistan that the public was never supposed to know. Some people high up in special operations are evil. The real special ops warriors need to be warriors of truth and virtue, first nd foremost. The stuff they had SEALs doing with tomahawk missiles on remote nomadic villagers was never supposed to happen. Someone has taken over places of high authority for years hid their operations with "national security." The CIA has been a root of evil in our country. They need to be destroyed.
Delta operators seem far more intelligent than Seals and I say that with all due respect. The difference is noticeable. It's not just muscles and tattoos with Delta, but rather well grounded, highly intelligent professionals. I used to ask myself if Seal team 6 was better of Delta. I've since learnt the difference and why Seals are recruited to become Delta but not the other way around. Sure Seals are underwater pros and that has a purpose but muscle's can only get you so far. Delta is more involved than Seals. They're a part of the process, not just the execution of the process.

yes they are you can get around that by calling there command if they are bull shiting they wont get in trouble and the shit will stop.they are pushing the quotas but before you see CAG sounds like you will be in for about 4 to 8 years min with combat so boot camp, airborne school, ranger school,some hands on maybe SF and than CAG if you make it through all that with out injury etc etc etc
