I have so valued your teachings in various forms for a long time now. But I REALLY like seeing and hearing you describe your process of painting.
Please continue to do more videos. I have been trying to "loosen up" my traditional methods of painting, but seeing how you proceed and how you describe "why" you do what you are doing is INVALUABLE! You are such a great and thorough teacher!!

I have always enjoyed your written lessons and explanations. But I really like this video, right from the start. So many painting tutorials are frustrating because the artist doesn't mention the surface they are painting on or the colors they are using. And I love your description of your approach to creating the basic drawing with various brushstrokes. Never heard anyone say they use "timid" brushstrokes, but it's a perfect description for those beginning wispy strokes that define the tree shapes and the shapes of the branches in your underpainting. Also helpful to see how you hold your brush while you are painting and to see how you carefully added the blue sky in and around the flowers. Most of all, I really enjoyed hearing your voice and your commentary. Excellent production. I hope you have plans to do more videos! Thank you for sharing this one!

Beautiful! Love the thick and juicy paint. For me it brings the term I've heard in painting, "organized chaos"..

Thanks, Dan, for this addition to your learning resources. Everything you provide is of great value to me as a learner, and the video is a great addition. I find myself getting stuck here and there during the process of working on a painting. Not sure what I need to do next with my brushes, is the problem for me. Seeing you work right on through to the completion will help me get over this hang-up, I think. More videos will be great if you can do them.

Such a great video. I like the way you talk us through how you work and the fact that things don't always go right, plus how you fix your 'mistakes'. Also, I enjoyed watching you paint with the palette knife, especially as I am not at all experienced with them. I am looking forward to seeing more.

This video was insightful to a degree I hadn't expected, in comparison to the written analyses which I also enjoy and benefit from immensely. I hope you can create more videos like this one -- especially on topics such as painting mist (loved that post!) which would be especially helpful to see being done in real time. Thank you for doing what you do!

Nicely done, I tend to get a lot of detailed drawing before I start but I do like your approach. I think it comes with experience. Theres such a fine line between a loose rendition and a muddy mess, your way of working is
a direction I will need to persue if only to see how I respond to the training wheels being taken off.
