Dan, this short video is jampacked with instruction and valuable information to any painter in any medium. Watching you work was very informative. But I learned much more.from hearing your commentary… what you were thinking,, why you took that approach, what you looked for, how you resolved your dilemmas, even how you overcome fears and anxieties. Particularly helpful were the little detours you took to pause and reinforce the fundamentals and how important they were at that point in the painting. It always helps to connect a real life example of the abstract principles we have learned. You are an outstanding teacher, and a great artist. Thank you for making this video.
    Janice, from the Arizona desert.

Saw this on a recent post of your and I agree, one of my favourites too. I think it’s absolutely brilliant. Genuinely, if you had said this was painted by one of the original impressionists, I wouldn’t have questioned it once.

I painted a magpie (bird) a few days ago. How I wish I had watched this video first. I will learn from Dan's work and have another go to make it more impressionistic. Dan your painting is incredible - the work of a master.

Hey Dan. So pleased to get this video of your process. The colors and proportions are the most challenging for me. Your brushwork/palette work is really outstanding. The flow and nuances in your work helps me analyze my own.

So much of what you shared this session resonated with the thought processes I have that ultimately shut me down completely for the last 3 months. I didn't know it was "okay" or normal to need to rework the areas of my paintings that were challenging to me. Instead I believed I'd lost my ability to create. Also, I kept getting overwhelmed with anxiety while trying to paint. I thought it was because I didn't have enough skill and might as well give up.
The entire video was just what I needed to gently lead me back into the only creative hobby I ever truly enjoyed. Thank you, Dan!❤

I really enjoyed this demo! It was especially informative to watch you work through finding the right ways to perfect Elora (also glad to know that I'm not alone in futzing around trying to get the forms and colors to work together....) Thank you, Dan!

Thank you, Dan, for this video. I learned so much from watching you paint. It is helpful to hear your commentary as you go, so honest in expressing the process problems as an artist.

Just last night I received a request to paint a portrait of my late cousin. Your suggestions and key points presented here will be in the forefront of my mind as I dive in. Like you, portraits are not my area of expertise, but I'll give it a go. Your painting of Elora and White Roses is beautiful. I love its delicacy, depth, and softness. You've inspired me yet again. Thank you.

Thanks so much for this. ALSO thanks for showing us your first attempt “oops”! Helpful emotionally to see that even experienced artists aren’t always perfect coming out of the gate. And thanks for pointing out how important the right reference photo is. I would love to learn more about how you choose them. This painting is beautiful and inspiring!

I love the tutorial. I paint in acrylics and find that my paint dries too quickly to blend in the colors. Will continue to practice. Thank you.
