Glad to see someone "get" Orion. Its a tough coaster to appreciate from one ride, it took a few times for me. Not the most intense giga, but makes up for it with re-rideability. Its always fast, smooth, fun.
A few pointers: Adventure Express: This is an arrow mine ride designed on paper, so it has the signature circular curves and sudden transitions. Press into the seat with both your feet and arms, and lean OUT of the turns. This is one you don't want to passively ride. Bat: Always runs 2 trains, but has only 3 block sections, so lift is always super slow. One of the last suspended swinging coasters left, and worth at least trying it. Go for the front or back car. Flight of Fear: It always stops in the midcourse brake run. Any faster and I swear it'll do a Mindbender in the second half with a loaded train. Ride ops didn't nickname it the spaghetti bowl for nothing. I recommend keeping your back against the seat during the launch and first inversion. Then pull your body forward, let the car move around you. Much more comfortable. Racer: Blue is better. Full stop. Only runs the mid shift (12 to 8), so doesn't get as many hours on it, and doesn't get trimmed after the turnaround so almost always wins. Front or middle of a car is even smoother. Plant a foot as far back as you can, then push with that foot straight into the floor over hills. It'll let you float above the seat as the train jostles around during airtime. Standard tips for PTC coasters. Carpentry did a great job smoothing this one out in the past few years. Backlot: Squeeze them butt cheeks in that first helix. It'll cause gray outs if you are dehydrated. Enjoy the theming and the ride after that, it's pretty fun. The 'jump' into the canal at the end, themed after the Italian Job's famous car stunt, has a harsh landing since it's meant to feel like you're in a car doing that. Even then it's not that harsh, but could catch you by surprise. Beast: WAY better at night. This is not a commissioned coaster like a B&M or Zamperla. Kings Island built it themselves. The long brake runs used to be sled brakes and converted to friction, then magnetic brakes. To preserve the coaster they do trim pretty hard, but it still gets crazy speed at the end of its blocks. Ideally, front third of the train, front or middle seat gives you some amount of suspension. Other seats feel like you're in a washing machine. Brace HARD right for the double helix. You'll need to press hard due to the very slow twist rate tilting you 40 degrees to the left. And they really mean it when they say keep your hands in the train. The tunnel is very tight to the left. On nights with fireworks, get to Beast's line just before they start. Beast will cut the line and shut down for the fireworks, then do a quick track inspection to make sure embers didn't catch the coaster on fire. Once cleared, then they'll run till the line is empty. Also tends to be lighter on the trims. Crazy fast rides, can barely see anything in the woods, cold wind blasting by - amazing experience. Security will have you exit through Frontier Town. Mystic: Lots of fun, bouncy in the good airtime way. The scene in the shed is a fun distraction while you're sitting in the back brakes waiting for the station to clear. Disappointment came from over zealous coaster nuts. I think it's a nice change of pace and a neat idea for theming in a park company that doesn't normally do that. Invertigo: Leave this one for later. It'll give you a headache, especially in the front or back of the train. Definitely squeeze butt cheeks in the front or back. Vertical G's are pretty intense. Regarding ops: I am used to the ops at Kings Island being focused, quick, well trained, and very safety conscious. Almost always runs like a well oiled machine. At other parks, I've been very disappointed, and surprised that is the standard they accept. I've only seen better ops at Disney and Cedar Point, and even then it's not by much. KI's ops have been consistently awesome for many years. Thank your ride ops here, they do it right.
Uh yeah... I did it and it is insane. It is fucking disorienting. You don't see anything, it's cold, the tunnels whistle and are so loud. It's tied with diamondback and Orion for me. Idk about during the day. Probably not because it is a lot more rough. I admire how smooth Orion is and the vertical g forces on diamondback is just so amazing.
It's neat that Backlot Stunt Coaster still has the movie special effects going, over a decade and a half after the park was sold by Paramount to Cedar Fair. (The coaster was originally themed to the film The Italian Job.) You can't always say that about the copies of the ride at Kings Dominion or Canada's Wonderland.
My favorite amusement park has been King's Island since the Summer of 1973! I was lucky enough to live within a couple hours of the park. It's always been a super clean park! It's always been a coaster park! The first few years, The Racer was the only coaster but it was a new wooden coaster at a time when no one was building new wooden coasters anymore! This park was a reimagining of the local Coney Island which had to close due to fooding issues. The Racer at King's Island was supposed to revive the excitement of the coasters at Coney Island with the novel twist of a racing feature! It was the flagship ride and the reason to come! Glad to fibally hear some positive talk about Orion. Cant decide between that and MT for my #1 overall at the park. I call the wave turn after the 1st drop a non inverting zero g. We were rotten kids in the '80s and used to do just that 🤐 But yes the trim in the covered station area before the tunnel in the side of the hill is about 60-70% stronger than it was back then. @@techpappee . If your employees suck, you train them. If they don’t care, they probably aren’t getting paid enough to care. If stuff is disorganized, it’s because nobody taught them how to organize it. If the employees actually just suck then they should be fired. If they aren’t being fired when they should be, then that’s managements fault. If the management doesn’t have the recourses to train their employees, then that’s corporate’s fault. Working in a kitchen is such a hard job. People shouldn’t be expected to just be perfect and people won’t be perfect even when they are trained properly. Makes me feel like I'm flying and I love it.) Almost the same with Mystic Timbers (for me an easy Top 5). I can definitely see the enjoyment in flying through the woods, but The Beast - at night, specifically - just destroys Mystic Timbers in every way possible.

@@Mangermotorsports haha I do have my own band but that song was made specifically for these videos and I don’t really have it up anywhere other than in these videos. Plus my band isn’t heavy like that intro song. I appreciate the love!
How could you not mention the ending of Adventure Express???!
@@jpq21 I had it in the original voiceover but I cut it out cause I feel like everyone else on youtube talks about it.
Your channel and Midcourse Discourse are the only coaster channels I watch these days. Almost all the others are just a bunch of coaster boners hating on rides. Anyway… keep doing what you’re doing.
@@FIF0101578 I appreciate u! Some ppl in this community def need to loosen up a bit more imo. I’m still pretty new to it all. Happy to have a place in it.
My rankings
1. Diamondback
2. Orion
3. Mystic Timbers
4. Banshee
5. The Beast
6. Backlot Stunt Coaster (Underrated)
7. The Racer
8. The Bat
9. Flight of Fear
10. Invertigo
11. Adventure Express
Backlot Stunt Coaster is super underrated imo. All such great rides! We didn't do invertigo this time cause i've heard it's super rough, which I def believe.
I can't blame only management for a dirty store serving cold food, the employees need work ethic as well. It's not on one or the other but both.
They need to know how things run and be compensated properly for their time.
In n Out Burger is the gold standard for how a fast food restaurant should be run. Their employees are compensated and trained well, so every single location operates like a well oiled machine.
Great video! Do you think Banshee will run 2 trains next week?
@@zero-gravitythrills7163 thanks! I have no idea. I think the only people who would know would be the mechanics and management.
@@FaceRippedOff yes I agree, I rlly hope they can sort it out bc I want to ride that a few times when I go
@@zero-gravitythrills7163 yeah who knows. If they are waiting on parts, it could be till next season. We just don’t know unfortunately :(
I hope u have a great day at the park!
They were running 2 trains on Sunday.
@@KIfan8386 Thays great news!!!
I think banshee is much more intense than raptor
Great vlog. Make more
The crunch wraps are also rubber and hard to eat now.
Banshee is rough if you dont do the front
It’s crazy when I went on 2 days before the July incident it was horrible worst rattle ever
Love kings island 🎢
Beast night rides are legendary
Normally, it's awesome, but, went on Labor Day weekend and the groupers were so terrible that the were sending out trains with 3-5 empty rows while they had over hour long waits.
@@rossh688 dang that’s so rough! They were on it when I was there. Absolutely killing it
Kings island is the second best park
@@BlaineBasil what’s your favorite?
@@FaceRippedOff cedar Point
@@BlaineBasil cedar point is amazing
@@FaceRippedOff definitely I’ve had the best experiences there it’s hard not to have it as my number 1 park
It's good park...it just needs a new ride
You didn’t do invertigo
Only better drop than Orion, is Fury.325
@@romanosmith4494 I believe that. I need to get out to Carowinds to check it out
I like Invertigo
Only thing I strongly dislike about your list...
Mystic Timbers is NOT better than The Beast....
And also Diamondback is far superior to Orion.
To each their own! I respect those opinions greatly
@@FaceRippedOff Appreciate that actually. I can understand why one would prefer Orion to Diamondback (may not enjoy the floater airtime, so much as the ejector and Orion IS faster/scarier) but Orion's issue is grey out on that helix so I just can't say it's better (plus I love the floaty feeling from Diamondback. Makes me feel like I'm flying and I love it.)
Almost the same with Mystic Timbers (for me an easy Top 5). I can definitely see the enjoyment in flying through the woods, but The Beast - at night, specifically - just destroys Mystic Timbers in every way possible.
Agreed. I’d rank the beastie higher than MT. Beast is GOAT. Daytime and especially night ❤
@@tamim2702 For sure! Although I will say Mystic Timbers is a very good night ride, The Beast is just...so awesome.
No. But the Prevalence of B&M does.
No Flight of Fear at 9th
short answer is no, no it does not
Orion is INCREDIBLY overrated. Diamondback was more than enough.
I'm glad we've got them both! To each their own.
I love Diamondback! But for me it's the very back for Diamondback and Very Front for Orion! For me it's a total different ride on Orion in the very Front
I seen u yesterday
Lmao I wasn't there yesterday
Try going 10 seconds without a cuss word.
i went to kings island for a school trip and me and my friends got harassed 🥰
I just stumbled across your channel and I love your videos so much!
