Cool vid, nice at explaining the basics and the hidden features like the cut attack and the different song animations. Still, there are a couple things Gajin missed, haven't seen them in the comments either. •When R2 is pressed while standing still, a song will start with the standard animation. However, there is an alternative startup: if you move forward while pressing R2, the hunter will smack the horn in front of him before lifting it up with a rapid kick and starting the song; the animation is very similar to the forward encore animation. Gajin actually performs this move at 12:45, just before performing a forward encore animation, but he doesn't really explain in detail the existence of the alternative animation. •At 12:15 Gajin starts showing the different encore animations, which vary with the direction of the stick. In case you were wondering, there's also a back+R2 encore animation, and it's actually pretty damn good: the hunter will perform a powerful upswing, followed by a second (even more powerful? Needs testing) upswing, before performing the song. It's quite slow, but has great reach and is userful for repositioning since the hunter moves back during the attacks. If you are standing under the belly of the monster, you're gonna smack its head with the final swing. •This is something that affects all the encore animations (12:15), even the one listed before. If you pay attention to the hunter movements, you'll notice that every encore animation starts with a slow side swing; it may be userful to know that self-improvement encore doesn't have that swing, so you can auto-buff with double triangle > double R2 very quickly. You can perform standing encore or choose one of the four stick+R2 animations, if you're encoring the self-improvement you'll just skip that side swing. Not sure if you can exploit this by playing self improvement + other songs before encoring, if someone labs this out please let me know. •Even though this was never shown in the video, there are indeed some attack > song combos that allow quicker access to the playing animations. These are the ones i found: -input forward+R2 after a front-smack attack (forward /\, forward /\+O): the hunter will lift up the horn with a small kick and quickly start the song. Hope this was userful, kisses and doot-doot.
Regarding your 3rd point: I can confirm that as long as Self-improvement is the first song you play, then you execute the faster encore animation. This includes if you are selecting Self-improvement via R2+/\ or R2+O as mentioned at 11:05. You can also input side or back+R2 and your hunter will move slightly in that direction and execute the strong slam in front of them that you mentioned. This can be done after any attack, including the quick thrust attack, and is great for tweaking your position before reciting your songs. Bonus information that doesn't really matter: If you have no song lined up, or have input the wrong sequence of notes, you can still press R2 to recite your.... nothing. It does the same animation as if you were reciting a song, but there is no shock wave and the hunter won't pause to play the song... because there isn't a song to play. But this shouldn't happen in actual hunts since the only reason to press R2 is to recite songs :P I hope this helps
If you use a backslam before immediately playing your song, you do indeed do a shortened backward encore. Or at least it feels like it to me. Great for hitting heads!
Encores from a self improvement buff are faster, but have fewer hits and less damage, so if you are going primarily for buffs, its fine, but for damage, 3 or 4 note songs offer higher damage encores and more hits. In fact, each directional input + encore does a different number of swings and different number and strength of hits. back + encore is the most powerful one with the most damage per time. You'll also notice that there are more damage numbers than there are swings. some hits are from swings, some hits are from *shockwaves*. Shockwaves apply ko, exhaust, and status/element damage, but *cannot crit*. Different direction + encore animations have different numbers of shockwaves. Self-improvement recital and encore has fewer shockwaves than the 3 and 4 note song recital and encores. The whether a 2-note or 3/4-note encore animation is played depends on the *first song* that you played to start the sequence. So if the first song in my list is a self improvement buff, and I am going for damage, then I may want to start with the second or third song in my list to get the extra swings and shockwaves.
Iam just saying fighting tempered monster solo with a hunting horn as a main isn't a good idea I play hunting horn alot but I feel like it's best in the team setting end game solo not worth it but it is my favorite group weapon
Being severely colorblind, the hunting horn was a huge turn off for me back in mh freedom 2 where they didn't even have a song list in the room yet. Seeing it in this game, I'd love to give props to Capcom for actually making a visual difference between the notes. I have picked it up in the training room & played with it, it is by far the easiest to use than the previous installments. Might even be in my arsenal now! Thank you Capcom for making such an amazing game!
It is definitely a huge help that the notes look different, the colour of the notes change so regularly from horn to horn that it can actually be kind of confusing learning by colour alone.
New player here bud. 160 hours or so on this title alone. No other MH games played. I am truly grateful for your videos. They have made my experience with the game much more engaging and fun. Thank you for your time, and your instruction.
Really important missed detail. So, everyone misses this detail in the HH tutorials. The song you START with changes you ENCORE! Starting with "Self Improvement" makes your encores faster, but have less hits. Any other song has the longer, more powerful encores. This bothered me quite badly when I was playing because I felt like the recitals were just randomly different. This is really useful when you are buffing while the monster isn't there as starting the song chain with self improvement will allow you to encore all other songs much faster. This is also important to remember if you are trying to get a big hit combo with the encore as if you start with self improvement, your damage output will be lower and movements will be different. Please make a followup video demonstrating this. I will likely make my own tutorial eventually, but you are an authority figure on weapon usage for many many people. This information should be spread.
There's a skill that makes your songs last longer, got 2 gems for it and got no clue if it's on any armor by default. In my opinion the Nergigante and Xeno'jiiva horns are pretty good when it comes to damage, sharpness and buffs. The Nergigante horn gives you earplugs (L) and Affinity (L) up, and the Xeno horn can negate all wind pressure, good for fighting kushala, and I belive Defense/Attack (L) up.
Just a couple notes that I think were missed: 1. You mentioned that the encores can be directed for different attacks, but the initial melody attacks can also be directed if chained after an attack. 2. The encores for the self-improvement song do less hits than encores for other songs. The type of encore that is played is based on the initial song that is played, so you can do ATK (L) -> Self-Improvement -> Encore and still get the higher damage encore.
Haha, I was reading through the comments and thought people were appraising the effects in-game. But what I didn't realize was the effects that YOU were making. I subbed.
Nice video for newcomers to the Hunting Horn; the pacing was very good. A couple of extra things: - The self improvement song hits less times before the encore melody plays, this is useful if you want to quickly get tier 2 buffs from other songs in your horn's repertoire. By playing the self improvement melody first and letting the other effects activate before hitting encore you will roll multiple buffs out in the least time possible. - Not only can you draw into recital, but also combo recitals out of attacks - the most noteworthy are the recitals out of the draw attack and from the cutting stab as they are fast and deal great damage. - The damage values of the encore attacks simply outclass those of the regular attacks in World, therefore, even once you have activated your desired melodies, you still want to be queing up songs on your staff, hitting recital, and like GH alluded to in his video, roll out before the song begins actually playing for fast damage output. (a really nice attack for all occasions is to approach with draw attack with any melody queued up, hit forwards and recital to kick the horn into the monster for 2 hits, then immediately rolling out before the song has time to realise - this is both powerful dps and very precise) - GH mentions this in his video, but horn maestro is less relevant than it has ever been, don't build armour for this skill, if you have a spare decoration slot and have no idea what else to throw in there, sure why not - but there are far better things you can build for HH this time around, as it is important to be attacking with your recitals, constantly refreshing your buffs anyway. Hunting Horn is a great weapon and grossly misunderstood. Thanks for reading.
Did you cover needing less notes if melodies overlap? Say one melody ends with a yellow note and another starts with a yellow note then you can just move on to the second note of the second melody. It saves a step. You might have said it but I missed it if you did.
A few more things worth mentioning. - The superpound for hunting horn does not seem to send people flying anymore. I think the worst it does is the same flinch caused by some of the other hunting horn attacks if you're hitting people who aren't doing anything. I'll actually kind of miss the ability to send people flying (especially since some hunters won't hesitate to do so to you, and it is still something people still like to do at the end of a hunt), but it is an understandable change as it allows considerate Hunting Horn users to use all of their moves without breaking the adaptive flow of their song building. - You can evade out of a recital and use just the swing attack without playing the song, but the queued melody will still be consumed if you do this. Oddly, if something or someone knocks you out of your recital before the song is applied, it will NOT consume the melody. - There are actually more than just the two recital animations you showed (forward and basic neutral) which can be used following other attacks. These include, left, right, backwards, and quick neutral (which only combos off a hilt jab). There's also an aerial version of the recital, though it is extremely situational and won't really be used often imo. It delivers an attack on use and a shockwave on landing, it also adds a miniature mid-air jump when used, but it doesn't seem to work for mounting. - The forward Recital has a considerably faster animation if you use it after an overhead swing or a superpound. It will just go straight into the kick-up animation instead of making the hunter re-position the horn in front of them. - Self Improvement has a considerably shorter set of encore animations than the other songs. This can be useful against monsters like Kirin whose encore openings don't appear to be that great, or simply to apply a faster two-buff encore to the team while also applying an encored self-improvement to yourself. -The hunting horn can BACKWARDS EVADE now. It should also be noted that that your four evade directions seem to sometimes get a bit scrambled by the hunter re-positioning during recitals and encores, as it seems to also change the direction they are facing. There may be some select cases in which you cannot backwards evade, but I am not 100% sure on this. - This last one is more of just a personal opinion, but for the queue selection matter, it may have been a little more impactful to highlight a situation in which selecting an individual queued song (or even having the song queue in the first place) would have a considerable result. For instance, when fighting Diablos, a select set of hunting horns have the key advantage of being able to save a Sonic Waves melody to use when Diablos begins tunneling. You can even end up hitting Diablos with the sonic wave in a way where it will pop up right in front of you and you can immediately follow up with an encore attack. With the Vespoid hunting horn on a few occasions, I've managed to use this to follow up a sonic waves stun with a paralysis from the encore attack while Diablos was still stuck in the ground.
Thank you gaijin! I was switching between weapons looking for a good fit and decided to try out the horn. Ended up helping me clear Xeno. There’s some great tech here I wasn’t aware of like the back input for quick notes and mid animation input. So much time saving here to focus on damage after buffs have been applied. Great guide man.
I'm so glad they have your songs listed on the corner of the screen at all times, it makes trying new horns way better. Horn is the best weapon and your tutorials Gaijin Hunter made me try it and love it in the first place.
Thank you Senpai, for another in-depth tutorial. I've learned some new things, and I can't wait to practice them during battle. Playing melodies while exhausting/KO-ing monsters is SO SATISFYING, especially with your hunting squad. Keep up the awesome work! WHAMO!
Thank you Gaijin Hunter, for your tutorials on weopons and information on Monster Hunter in general. Your videos really inspired me become the best Hunter I can be and mind for the franchise completely. I started since MH3U and watching this franchise grow to me is like living your life with a close friend.
As a hunting horn main since MH4U I love it when I see your horn videos! The horn is super underrated as most hunters want to just do damage but tend to forget the important role of horn on long hunts. Keep up the good work!
It feels like this was missed, but the circle+triangle doesn't send people flying anymore, so you can use it as much as you want online, easily one of the best HH buffs no one is talking about.
I am in absolute love with the HH. In the wrong hands, it's just a bigger version of those craftable horns. In the right hands, the HH makes you a knockout artist.
I'm so glad you did this one early. I just picked up Horn, and it is amazing in MHW. Streamlining the recital cue took it to the next level. Happy Hunting everyone!
The last tier nerg hunting horn is what i use, gives earplugs L and 20% affinity and some heals. Im fine with that, also deals damage which is nice I also like drumms
REPVILE X Gaming nerg has 2 tiers of levels resulting in a high damage horn, with some dragon element and elder seal (anti-elder use). Earplugs(L) is a godsend, so nice not being dazed by monster roars. The affinity boost starts small then encores into a large booster. So its very usable.
Last night I decided to pick up the hunting horn for the first time and make it my main weapon, and my brother sadly told me Gaijin Hunter didn't have a video out on it to help with some of my confusion. Today my bro comes running up the stairs that GH posted it. This must be fate! Gajin Hunter, thank you!!
For those who were wondering, like myself, I did a little visual comparing and it seems the set used in this video is as follows: Also feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, so here goes: King Beetle / Butterfly head B Legiana Chest A/B? Kushala Arms A Kushala Waist A Kushala Legs A I think. Anyhow great video introducing a RAD! weapon that everyone wants but no one plays, myself included, but hey maybe after this even i'll give it a go. Great video as always thanks again GH! Happy Hunting!
Quick Note: You never showed the back encore on the hunting horn. Otherwise, this was a pretty good tutorial for a very undervalued weapon, that I've fallen in love with, and my squad highly appreciates my usage of. As your thumbnail says, it's not just a support weapon, if anything it's a hybrid.
I needed this. I really wanted to main the horn but i found it tough to split my focus between positioning, attacking, sings, stuff like that. This video does a very good job of explaining the weapon, so I definitely want to go and give this weapon another chance!
Whoo! Doot doot, fellow musicians! So happy to hear tutorials for my favorite weapons before a month has even passed, heh. Also makes me happier whenever I hear that "whammo", because I'm slightly guilty about doing that too!
A couple things worth noting, is explaining that notes can be used in more than one song. There are a couple horns that can play 3 songs with 5 notes total. Also the Back + Encore is the strongest single attack for HH if you can get it to land, tough to show in the training area but its a lot of damage if you can set it up under an exhausted big monster.
My man, I thank you for this video! I've been rocking the dual blades up until now and since I'm done with the story and all that I thought of trying out a new weapon. I was thinking heavy blunt or heavy ranged weapons to get variation, never gave the HH any thought tho, I thought it was very complex and hard to use... But that was up until now, you have shown me that it is'nt that hard to use and it is really powerful. Since I also often play with my friends I think this weapon will be a bullseye for me!
This looks awesome!!! Well, sir, I think you just convinced me... I was going to move on from Bow to Charged Blade, but the support and versatility of Hunting Horn is simply too good to pass up!
Thank you for this! I feel like i have a better understanding for this weapon now! It got a tad bit confusing about halfway through, but i definitely feel like i 've learned a bit. Thank you!
HH Main since MH4, but unfortunately I don't think it'll ever break out of its "support" label and get people to realize how good it really is, solo or in a party.
Yeah, the word "support" is a death sentence for a weapon's popularity. Everyone's too concerned with getting big numbers, doing the most damage, and complaining about teammates to to play a "loser" "support" weapon.
Ketsuekisan it is true though. It is a weapon for losers. A team of pure Dps literally doesnt need you because they out dps you. It's the least popular weapon for a reason
I myself am a hunting horn main and it is the least popular weapon but its actually really good lmao and if your notes are a little flat then you gotta sharpen that instrument
It's not that, it's mostly the animations and style for me. It just looks lack luster, has that stupid bagpipe dance, and just feels underwhelming. Even if it's a really good weapon, I have no fun using it.
How?? The animations are hilarious and entertaining, if you can't appreciate that then you must not enjoy fun... it's okay to not have fun playing it, but yeesh
HH is by far the most complicated weapon, if you want to optimize your DPS. You didn't go over the shockwaves, which have some REALLY wonky mechanics. For example, the order you play your songs, the length of your song and the amount of songs you play all have an impact on the shockwave numbers and recitle/encore animation. Keeping all that in mind in a hunt while providing good support and damage is just far more difficult to master than with any other weapon.
Maximizing DPS in MH? Really? A game in which monsters scream, fly, other monsters show up mid fight, monsters fly away (most of which can be avoided by armor skills that take a damage skill slot).... unless you are speed running (and resetting the quest a million times to avoid the RNGesus screwing your time up) MH isn’t about DPS... it’s not predictable enough so that DPS is controllable... I really think that is a mentality we don’t need in MH at all, and a death sentence for anything with Status and Support as a focus, like the horn, SnS and some LBG and Bows...
TheBlackSoul using the weapon effectively in MH isn’t a rotation, that’s the point. The situations are not controllable, and many times your most damaging move just can’t reach where you need to. There are damage types, weakspots and positioning to take into account, there is no way to calculate “oh the motion value on X move is better, but I will not reach the head with it, so will it be better damage to go for it or use Y move to hit a weakspot”. The positioning alone against any moving monster makes maximizing dps beyond “don’t use X or Y because it’s bad” impossible. It’s not like you can Tab target something and mash a rotation for “maximum effectiveness”. It’s just not that kind of game.
PSNMyfoot Nobody said anything about "rotations", he's saying that he personally finds the HH a difficult weapon to balance between everything you need to do in order to do the best attacks and that he'd like to know EVERYTHING that he can potentially do, and then you blew it out of proportions, as if he's actively tainting the community for wanting to do the best he can. And did you somehow forget about _knock-downs_ or something? Literally the one time you're EXPECTED to know and perform your most beneficial and damaging moves? Besides, your point is entirely subjective, it's most definitely possible to know the reach, range, damage and other attributes of your moves without regressing to I USE HAMMER, I AM CAVEMAN, I BASH SKULL. Coming from a GS main, this is actually expected of you if you plan to be good at using the weapon. Hell, ANY weapon greatly benefits from you personally knowing your moveset like the back of your hand.
Hunting horn was my fav weapon in MH4. It looks very neat with the song being stacked. Thanks for this tutorial, when MH world comes to pc I’ll make good use of your tutorial.
Finally someone does a tutorial on the hunting horn! Every time I play online nobody uses the hunting horn and its a shame really, its such an amazing weapon to use
I really don't know why people don't use the HH as much... It's a really fun, interesting weapon! Also this video needed a "Whammo / Sound FX" counter. lol
Not the tutorial the people want, but the tutorial they Need
Every youtuber since MH came out: "You should play Hunting Horn! I mean, I don't main it, but you should!"
I use hh a lot ^__^ but I'm going to really dive into MH again when the PC version releases.
Man you guys dont even take a sec to think if the phrase you are parroting makes sense. Why would someone NOT want it
9:20
"We can hold back on the circle pad" I love it, show em where you came from. Years of 3DS tutorials lol
So to summarize:
1. Locate monster's head.
2. WHAM!
nah man your doing it wrong 2 is WHAMO!
3. ???
4. profit
9:20 "hold back on the *circle pad* "
Those days are long behind us my friend, we got analog sticks now :^)

Sarah Hutchinson u must be fun at parties
@@sarahhutchinson5720 lol if you want precise directions use a d-pad, mortal combat etc is better played with that
He must be used to playing on the 3DS lol

didn't believe you till i tried out the horn for a few hunts this weekend. saved my whole party with a combo heal. they all sent a friend requests
I think you meant hunting horn
Lloyd Adam Smith Grande Thanks for being that guy. 😂
I just tried to help
First the lance, now the hunting horn. The two most underrated mh weapons getting the love they deserve
sleepybunloaf then Gunlance should be next
I feel the Hunting horn and the gunlance have been underrated weapons in previous MH games imo.
I was walking in the ancient forest, and a first wyverian gave me a max potion for using lance, the second least used weapon
Mr. Fluffypantz he always gives you either max potions or ancient potions but the lance and hunting horns are the most underused in MH world.I said in previous games, gunlances didn’t really do great damage in previous games except MHXX.
When I saw him he said Hunting Horn was the lowest. My Switch Axe was 7th Rank.
9:22 After 4 titles on the 3DS, Aevanko can't not say "circle pad". XD
Gaijin Hunter would be that guy playing a Hunting Horn on the side of a busy street for Zenny while his Palico dances.

Pasta DellaNonna I knew this tutorial was bad
Encores from a self improvement buff are faster, but have fewer hits and less damage, so if you are going primarily for buffs, its fine, but for damage, 3 or 4 note songs offer higher damage encores and more hits. Hunting horn: the weapon everyone wants on their team but no one wants to use
"Why does my weapon keep deflecting!?"
"It's dangerous to go alone, take this." *Passes Hunting Horn*
Hunting horn damage is a joke it's a support weapon also playing tunes can leave you open if not timed just right
Two options: Either the second line is because the HH is strong, or because the person giving the horn isn't intending it to actually hit the monster.
Daffy Duck Sounds like you need to git gud. HH dmg is fine
Daffy Duck HH is a support weapon? TRIGGERED
Iam just saying fighting tempered monster solo with a hunting horn as a main isn't a good idea I play hunting horn alot but I feel like it's best in the team setting end game solo not worth it but it is my favorite group weapon
*w H A M O*
Billy Backwoods nah he's a real nigga. Wham-O ☠️
I liked also the "ooSHAA" and the "GhOOsh"
Boom boom
The energy and emotion in your voice during the intro was incredible
"Kindly note in the comment below" Am I the only one that got a HH pun right there
I really hope the "don't fret about it" was a pun as well.
The special effects in this one are top notch
They are good enough to get me as a new subscriber!
These sound effects are out of control! I love it! Thank you for the video!
PlatinumTrickster Wham-O!
Best weapon for psh and whamo
I need more whamo in my life
Praise the Whamo \[T]/
As a total noob to the series who fell in love with the Hunting Horn, thank you for this.
Hunting Horn mains, RISE
crispy dango Ayyyy!
Can you recommend me what horn line to build and what type of armor skill is important for HH?
There's a skill that makes your songs last longer, got 2 gems for it and got no clue if it's on any armor by default.
In my opinion the Nergigante and Xeno'jiiva horns are pretty good when it comes to damage, sharpness and buffs. The Nergigante horn gives you earplugs (L) and Affinity (L) up, and the Xeno horn can negate all wind pressure, good for fighting kushala, and I belive Defense/Attack (L) up.

Just a couple notes that I think were missed:
These hitting noises helped me be a better hunting horn user
You know gaijin is stoked when he makes random sound effects
Haha, I was reading through the comments and thought people were appraising the effects in-game. But what I didn't realize was the effects that YOU were making. I subbed.
I am not a horn user, but this makes me want to give it a shot. I’ll make a horn and give it a go today.
Kortez same here in soild.
might even make it my main
Kortez trust me its worth it, i made a hunting horn today and was amazed how good it is, before that i was charge blade main
Oh nice I started using horn yesterday to support my brother who just got the game. Very timely video!
Steve Bravo just remember that your weapon does a lot of damage itself. So make sure you don't just sit in a corner and just play songs
Steve Bravo you mean you picked HH to carry your brother, right? 😉👌

edboi I want to like it but I don't want to ruin it.
"Your weapon ranks 14th in popularity." TUT Dammit.
Meow Woof it's a mark of pride.
The feels T.T
Nice video for newcomers to the Hunting Horn; the pacing was very good.
A couple of extra things:
- The self improvement song hits less times before the encore melody plays, this is useful if you want to quickly get tier 2 buffs from other songs in your horn's repertoire.
(a really nice attack for all occasions is to approach with draw attack with any melody queued up, hit forwards and recital to kick the horn into the monster for 2 hits, then immediately rolling out before the song has time to realise - this is both powerful dps and very precise)
- GH mentions this in his video, but horn maestro is less relevant than it has ever been, don't build armour for this skill, if you have a spare decoration slot and have no idea what else to throw in there, sure why not - but there are far better things you can build for HH this time around, as it is important to be attacking with your recitals, constantly refreshing your buffs anyway.
Hunting Horn is a great weapon and grossly misunderstood. Thanks for reading.
I just want to say that this video is really well organized.
Did you cover needing less notes if melodies overlap? Say one melody ends with a yellow note and another starts with a yellow note then you can just move on to the second note of the second melody. It saves a step. You might have said it but I missed it if you did.
I should have mentioned it :/
It was a very nice guide and I never knew about the poke that can do slicing damage. So I learned something!
Medulan45 a few xD ty tho this will really help.
11:30, whoa that changes everything! Playing all three songs at once is incredibly efficient.
I was waiting for this guide, THANKS! :D
You stole my picture! I was so confused I thought I'd watched this video then completely forgot about it lol!
LOL idk i've had this picture for like 8 years if not more xD Great taste! hahah
I'm so glad they have your songs listed on the corner of the screen at all times, it makes trying new horns way better. Horn is the best weapon and your tutorials Gaijin Hunter made me try it and love it in the first place.
love that you're doing late 70's sound effects lol
Thank you Senpai, for another in-depth tutorial. I've learned some new things, and I can't wait to practice them during battle. Playing melodies while exhausting/KO-ing monsters is SO SATISFYING, especially with your hunting squad. Keep up the awesome work! WHAMO!
You seem to have alot of fun in this video, keep it up loving the content.
Thank you Gaijin Hunter, for your tutorials on weopons and information on Monster Hunter in general. Your videos really inspired me become the best Hunter I can be and mind for the franchise completely. I started since MH3U and watching this franchise grow to me is like living your life with a close friend.
Been watching your video since MH4U. Thanks for all your good work!
I've been a Hunting Horn main for quite a long time in MH4U and I've gotta say this is a great tutorial, keep up the great work!
The legendary 1% usage
oldcowbb i'm the 1%
We 1% bois. HR 35 so far. Bazel horn ftw.
RePoisn i made the teostra triple but its not as good :( what does godly protection even do
Its the same effect as the divine protection armor skill for your
team
x Astolfo It means that you and your teammates will take almost no damage sometimes (it's random)
I’ve been maining the horn because of this tutorial and i love it! Gotta work on my positioning though. I button mash way too much
Justin Suits i play horn since the beginning because i like the concept. Anyway, i’m still smashing buttons.
I've always loved the hunting horn, but was never truly able to get into the groove of it. This guide gave the the groove I needed, so thank you!!
How come every tutorial you make I wanna play that weapon? Followed your videos for a long time now, but today you got my subscription!
Got 2 of my friends to get Monster hunter and told both to watch your tutorials. So good.
I am one of the three hh mains in the world. Thank you gaijin for giving our weapon justice. Also gimme you guild card. gimme gimme
So it's Gaijin, you, and I?
I need your guild card too
Ben Spargo now its four
I'm so glad you did this one early. I just picked up Horn, and it is amazing in MHW. Streamlining the recital cue took it to the next level. Happy Hunting everyone!
Because of this video... i may main hunting horn in the first time in forever.
I'd wanted to give the Hunting Horn a try, but it seemed a bit confusing. This video sheds a lot of light. Good work, mate!
The last tier nerg hunting horn is what i use, gives earplugs L and 20% affinity and some heals.
Im fine with that, also deals damage which is nice
I also like drumms
yeah the baseline bagpipes are kind of masochistic to keep performing with. i'm so glad my favorite horns are all drums.
I'm at the end of this tier to the point up going Nergal or Fortissimo. Is there an advantage of Nergal over Fortissimo?
REPVILE X Gaming nerg has 2 tiers of levels resulting in a high damage horn, with some dragon element and elder seal (anti-elder use). Earplugs(L) is a godsend, so nice not being dazed by monster roars. The affinity boost starts small then encores into a large booster. So its very usable.
20% affinity is a 5% damage increase. Even attack up small is better.
Aaron Schwarzkopf right right, Im tracking. Would the health and attack buffs of fort 2 benefit a full party better than nerg?
You’ve made me become a Hunting Horn main. I love this weapon and being support. Great tutorial and keep the content coming
I've basically played HH exclusively for MHW, so I can attest to the fact that this weapon is an underrated gem
Kr8ZBot How great is it
I had no freaking idea about the handle smack. That just upped my game to the next level.
Were you just slightly drunk you went so overboard with those sound effects XD
Ecchi Otaku 😂 so funny
Last night I decided to pick up the hunting horn for the first time and make it my main weapon, and my brother sadly told me Gaijin Hunter didn't have a video out on it to help with some of my confusion.
Today my bro comes running up the stairs that GH posted it. This must be fate! Gajin Hunter, thank you!!
HH main here, is the best weapon that no one uses
you preach the true
gimme a HR set pls xd want to play it alot but dont know what weapon and perks are good.
Praise the Horn!
everytime the sound effect come it gives a smile on my face
thank you Gaijin hunter for your hard work
happy hunting!!
very underrated weapon! horn users are always welcome in my hub!
When i'm using HH.... I dont know Why i'm doing good at timing and evade certain monster.... Everytime..... :|
For those who were wondering, like myself, I did a little visual comparing and it seems the set used in this video is as follows:
Also feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, so here goes:
King Beetle / Butterfly head B
Legiana Chest A/B?
Kushala Arms A
Kushala Waist A
Kushala Legs A
I think. Anyhow great video introducing a RAD! weapon that everyone wants but no one plays, myself included, but hey maybe after this even i'll give it a go. Great video as always thanks again GH! Happy Hunting!
Coming from a hunting horn main thank you so much!!
Been playing since mh4u, it was your tutorial that set me on the hunting horn path back than. I love your work!!! Happy hunting
Best hh guide I've seen I got 100+ hunts with it and it covers pretty much everything
*after every HH hit* wHAMO
I needed this. I really wanted to main the horn but i found it tough to split my focus between positioning, attacking, sings, stuff like that. This video does a very good job of explaining the weapon, so I definitely want to go and give this weapon another chance!
If this whole video was just gaijin hunter sound effects it would still be amazing
Whoo! Doot doot, fellow musicians!
So happy to hear tutorials for my favorite weapons before a month has even passed, heh.
Also makes me happier whenever I hear that "whammo", because I'm slightly guilty about doing that too!
Sound effects 10/10 XD
A couple things worth noting, is explaining that notes can be used in more than one song. There are a couple horns that can play 3 songs with 5 notes total. Also the Back + Encore is the strongest single attack for HH if you can get it to land, tough to show in the training area but its a lot of damage if you can set it up under an exhausted big monster.
Im Here to Support 🎵🎶🎼
jason alexander "Support" weapons...
Veteran Hunting Horn mains.... *Drastically Laugh*
Stropatici i was being a little sarcastic 😁
jason alexander lel.... I'm HH main too... But in Previous MH..... Especially in MHP3d T.T
But a hunting horn supports your team, which means it is a support weapon.
Hymi 😂😂😂😂
My man, I thank you for this video! I've been rocking the dual blades up until now and since I'm done with the story and all that I thought of trying out a new weapon. I was thinking heavy blunt or heavy ranged weapons to get variation, never gave the HH any thought tho, I thought it was very complex and hard to use... But that was up until now, you have shown me that it is'nt that hard to use and it is really powerful. Since I also often play with my friends I think this weapon will be a bullseye for me!
*SIMULTANEOUSLY DOOTS AND WHAMS*
This looks awesome!!! Well, sir, I think you just convinced me... I was going to move on from Bow to Charged Blade, but the support and versatility of Hunting Horn is simply too good to pass up!
gaijin you should have 1m subs by now
Thank you for this! I feel like i have a better understanding for this weapon now! It got a tad bit confusing about halfway through, but i definitely feel like i 've learned a bit. Thank you!
Thank u for this guide!! will master HH someday soon :D
I like how the idle animation for hunting horn is your hunter quietly jamming out with a giant horn slung over their shoulder
Main Hunting Horn here!!!
Thanks, I thought I knew all there was to the hunting horn, but you taught me stuff I didn’t know about one of my favorite weapons.
If only they'd look up videos.. this isn't the first time Gaijin Hunter has tried to tell people that the weapon is powerful LOL
Ketsuekisan it is true though. It is a weapon for losers. A team of pure Dps literally doesnt need you because they out dps you. It's the least popular weapon for a reason
Linkophere what are these insulting comments here? Just let the People play whatever they want. Mind your own Business
Used to watch you way back when for MH4U now I’m finally gonna sub. Waiting for that switch axe tutorial. Keep it up my man
I myself am a hunting horn main and it is the least popular weapon but its actually really good lmao and if your notes are a little flat then you gotta sharpen that instrument
It the least popular weapon because Capcom tries to sell it as a "support" tool. The challenge is making people try it for the first time.
It's not that, it's mostly the animations and style for me. It just looks lack luster, has that stupid bagpipe dance, and just feels underwhelming.
Even if it's a really good weapon, I have no fun using it.
arboris yeah people have different play styles well I hope your having fun with whatever weopon your using 👍
Nice pun.
How?? The animations are hilarious and entertaining, if you can't appreciate that then you must not enjoy fun... it's okay to not have fun playing it, but yeesh
I honestly love all the sound effects that you do after each hit
PSNMyfoot Jesus, it's almost like he wants to use a weapon to its maximum effectiveness. The audacity.
Hey gaijin im early today! Love your content. next you should do a dual blade tutorial
Finally someone does a tutorial on the hunting horn! Every time I play online nobody uses the hunting horn and its a shame really, its such an amazing weapon to use
I always called the hammer the king of ko but the hunting horn the queen of exhaust, it doesn't make much sense but eh.
makes sense!
Never touched this weapon, and I am now regretting it after watching your tuto, I'll give it a try! Thanks!
I really don't know why people don't use the HH as much... It's a really fun, interesting weapon!
Also this video needed a "Whammo / Sound FX" counter. lol
BetaNights cuz its slow xD
Your lance tutorial actually got me into playing lance. Now the weapon I want to use but struggling to. Thx!
