Love your genuine reaction…. I felt something way back when, as a lil boy when I heard this song for the first time. My mom was infatuated (to say the least) with this crooner, thus my early years where filled with the richness of his voice. It was years later when I realized what this song meant to my dear mom who had lost my father while she was pregnant with me, I remembered and felt every painful tear drop she shed, this was her go-to song , her sad companion that reminded her of lost love, ultimately, her therapy.

I dare this generation to produce singers, and songs, of that caliber today. There aren't many. Today its all beats, autotune, and digital this and that. This was pure, raw talent, all out in the open.
Tom Jones is a masterful vocalist. Stlll, to this day and he's in his eighties. Check out some of the videos of him singing (sometimes with Jennifer Hudson) on The Voice UK. You will be amazed. And, of course he has many other great records as well. She's a Lady, It's Not Unusual, Green Green Grass of Home, Delilah etc etc etc

Elvis Presley could sing, and he made some great songs, but when people tell me he can sing better than Tom Jones, I know they have a serious hearing problem.

I have seen multiple people (yes, they were all girls) who cried when reacting to his performance of this song. It's the emotion and pain of past experiences i think that his vocal performance raise that prompted them to cry. so, you're not solo in that regard.

My husband got tickets for Tom Jones then in his 70’s and convinced me to go , I wasn’t happy. But once he started singing omg he sang 25 songs in a row. Best concert Ever!! Beautiful voice... Was glad I went to see him had an amazing show!

Love your genuine reaction…. I felt something way back when, as a lil boy when I heard this song for the first time. My mom was infatuated (to say the least) with this crooner, thus my early years where filled with the richness of his voice. It was years later when I realized what this song meant to my dear mom who had lost my father while she was pregnant with me, I remembered and felt every painful tear drop she shed, this was her go-to song , her sad companion that reminded her of lost love, ultimately, her therapy.

From being a vulnerable man facing heartbreak to music today depicting someone moving from one chick to another and flexing his cars and money. People are more into materialistic things today, most of us lost interest in "deep love".
