Never gets old. He's so passionate. I can hear Lionel Richie when he sings. They did it together and it was spectacular. RIP Kenny.

I can still remember the first time I heard this song. I was about 8 years old and I was sick in bed. I lived with my grandparents at the time and my grandfather was a truck driver. He was a huge Kenny fan and he had just come in from a long haul on the road. I could hear my grandmother greeting him with a late supper in the kitchen. They were speaking quietly I suppose as not to wake me, and suddenly I heard this song come on so I tip toed outta bed and peaked into the kitchen and saw them dancing so sweetly. I just stood there watching them thinking it was probably the sweetest moment my young life had seen at that point 💗
Now years later every time I hear this song, time stands still for me and I think back to that moment. My grandmother passed away in 2010. She was 80 years old and my grandfather passed in 2014 he was 84. They were married for 62 years and were the best of friends. Their love was what songs like this were written for 💗

I am glad that you have this wonderful memory of this song and your grandparents. This was a true love song written by Lionel Richie and wonderfully performed by Kenny Rogers. The fact that your grandparents danced together listening to it shows that they were verifying their love for each other with a true love song.

This song was released in 1980 and Lionel Richie wrote AND produced it so they had to have met by that time. P.S. by the way, the Commodores had a song called Lady [you bring me up] so the name of this song was originally Baby, and when Kenny started talking to Lionel about his new Lady, Lionel, naturally reworked the song and called it Lady !!

In 1988 the Jamaica Jamaica resort at Runaway Bay had a musician in the Piano bar who knew the entire Kenny songbook, and assumed the guests, mostly brits and yanks, all knew it too! Several of us discovered the mutual joy of singing along, and returned each night. By night 3 we had 25 people crowded around the piano singing, and at the end of the week, we were 75 strong at least, packed into that bar crowed around the piano. Everyone knew a few lines of every song, and enough knew all the lines to carry the rest of us. In my many travels since I have never seen the likes of that experience. As busloads of new guests arrived for their week, they would line the walls to watch and listen. And they joined in.
That last evening one of the waitresses-maybe 21 yrs old-asked him to play Amazing Grace. She sang a solo, deep, soulful, beautiful, rich, unforgettable. We all wanted to join in but there is no chorus to join in on, and we were all entranced! 32 years later whenever I sing or hear Amazing Grace, I think of her, and of that pianist in that piano bar in Jamaica, and those other guests who shared the joy of singing with us. What a week that was. I hope their lives have been blessed richly.

Sushi, Kenny Rogers started out in '67, a band billed, "The First Edition", they had 3 chart songs ( 2 rock and roll, the third was more folk/countryish) "Ruby, don't take your love to town", written during the Vietnam conflict but was really about a WWII veteran that was wounded and impotent from that. I saw him one time-1980, at the annual "daddy of 'em all" rodeo, in Cheyenne Wyoming. he performed with a lady named Dottie West, the show was outside and delayed a few minutes only, by a rainstorm. When the storm had calmed considerably, they covered everything with plastic and performed for a couple hours. Great show, Kenny has many hits, listen to his rendition of "Mary did you know".

Their kids = my parents are getting up there. I'll be the next wave. Crazy how your people fade away. People grow apart. But we have these songs. It helps us relive the times when we were all close and everyone was still alive. People are not gone if you keep their memories with you. Their legacy will love on. I don't understand the 10 thumbs down people... No taste, I guess. But anyone WITH taste will be very touched by this song. It's a goosebumps type of song... We women just melt over it. You can definitely tell Lionel wrote it - the love songs are his specialty and Kenny Rogers did it great justice. : ) RIP sir - thank you for the musical legacy that you left us with. :)

One of my wife and I's first concerts.we've been married for 36 years. 2 1/2 years ago she had a seizure that left her brain damaged and in a coma and now, a wheel chair. She went to the hospital and then straight into an assisted living facility. Our life changed forever in one night. I played this song for her the other day and she lit up. Since march 10th I have had to visit her outside her window and call her room phone. Music is something that makes her happy. Another live song was John Denver "Perhaps Love" ( another person that we saw live) I have a lot of time alone now and love your reaction videos. Stay positive and as far as your student loans go. Every Doctor has started off the same way. You will overcome and make a difference in someones life..I know this from personal experence. You are an amazing person :)

My parents took me with them in 1982 instead of getting a sitter. I was 8 years old. Dolly Parton was in that concert as well. I still remember that, and loved the whole thing. They did the same thing with Neil Diamond a year later. I ended up taking them to see Neil Diamonds last tour, in the same place they took me to see him and Kenny.

The first concert I ever went to was Kenny Rogers at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. I was 10 or 11 years old and a band called Exhile opened for him. We were about 20 rows back from the stage.

I never met him personally, but I worked at his twin boys school just outside of Atlanta in Roswell Ga ...And although he was, a bit older, His boys are still only teenagers. And I can say that his boys were the most polite, well behaved, friendly, helpful kids, I mean, they could’ve turned out very different having such a wealthy, legendary father. RIP Mr. Rogers

if i'm not mistaken, he and Lionel co-wrote/produced this song together, but Kenny being Kenny...just told the world about this brilliant young man Lionel Richie of the Commodores and gave him full writing and production credit, to one of the greatest songs ever written and produced.class frickin' act, passing it on to the future. then came the decades and decades of hit songs by Lionel.

I had followed Kenny's career starting in the late 1960's with Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. Followed him for decades and saw him in concert many times. Great singer and I think "Lady" is my favorite song. Always moves me. I collected dozens of his albums and CDs also. He's ONE OF A KIND ...for sure. Gonna miss him.

There are so many great songs from Joe Diffie to react to. John Deere Green, Pickup Man, Prop Me up Beside the Jukebox, Third Rock from the Sun, Ships that Don’t Come In, So Help Me Girl, If The devil Danced, and probably many I’m forgetting. If I’m asking for 3 I’d like to see it would be John Deere Green, Pickup Man and Prop me up beside the jukebox. Oh maybe 4 so add If the devil danced. Please sushi give us some Joe Diffie.

Too Sushi, I hope that your boyfriend understands that you adore love songs.
If he does not, then he’s not supporting you and watching for Reactions.
If he isn’t, then he’s not for you.
You are a beautiful woman and your man should cherish and believe in you.
This is for all women out there. If you have a boyfriend for six months or more and he doesn’t know you get weak when you hear love songs, then he hasn’t seriously tried to know you.

Kenny played roles in a few movies. My favorite was six pack. He was a race car driver that wound up wirh 6 run away orphan kids that wanted to stay together. Just a riot. I saw him in concert years ago with Vince Gill and blind hit singer Ronnie Milsap. Amazing concert.
