The AC on my 91 is old school R12 and shot. First thing I did was take off the belt and put a non-AC belt on. You have any experience with these aftermarket 12v AC units? I know they popular with Big Rigs these days but they do make under-dash aftermarket for car/trucks. Any advice. By the way although I’m a old fart I’ve been wrenching many a year. So not an complete amateur. Thanks great videos
OK, priority of your five mods should be should be a adjusted here. A Borgeson steering shaft should have been #1, since it's a serious safety issue, and my steering wheel had about a foot of play in it when I first got the truck, even after it came out of a "diesel shop" that obviously didn't know anything about diesels. The plastic Dodge plastic steering couplers have always been a joke (a replacement of the rag joint would have just been more work, and wasn't necessary). Also, I kept trying to figure out why you kept referring to "tent, have to get tent." Then after several minutes, I realized you were talking about window tinting. Sorry kid, I just don't see your future in TV documentaries, like the below comment.
Drivability mod #6 install the cummins motor in a ford!!!!! Hahaha only playing I love my first gen but most fords are pretty comfy.... just can’t stand the junk motors.
I’ve got a 92 and I agree with each one of your driveablility completely, I’ve done the headlights, I went with a custom headlight from LMC truck, it has a clear glass front on it which really makes it look clean. I installed a 2.5 skyjacker soft ride front springs and kept the stock rear springs and mines perfectly level as well. And shocks made a crazy difference in the drive ability. Make sure you install all 4, that makes a bigger difference than just the front 2 or back 2. The one thing I kinda disagree with is the tint windows, honestly not a fan, but overall I love your videos and Keep up the content!
Yeah for sure!! And yeah window tint isnt for everyone I just dont like being able to be seen haha, something else youd reccomend or swap for the window tint to others who are the same??
I think you said this before in an earlier video, maybe not but I converted almost all of my interior/exterior lights to led, dash lights, blinker lights, the side marker lights, everything but the headlights, it really did an incredible job of shining up the interior and exterior. The biggest difference was the dash lights. Every first gen needs the old bulbs thrown out with brighter leds, I couldn’t even see my speedo at night before.
I’m new to this diesel thing with my 1st gen Cummins with a 5.9 and I know I can’t tune it but what are some modifications to it to make some more power all I want is about 500-600 horsepower that’s it how can I do this? Also I’m not new to modifying trucks but they have been gas.
Gavin, I see your future in doing Live TV documentary’s! Great communication skills and the ability to provide us correct information! Big fan of the 1st Gen movement! Cheers!
Don’t know if you’ll see this comment since it’s on an oil video , but I got a first gen now and see that you are very particular when it comes to mods that are very usable and don’t destroy the drivability... I do a lot of towing with mine and was wondering what mods you would recommend for towing performance?
As far as towing goes id be especially picky? Is the truck manual or auto, id want it to breathe as well so for sure a good intake setup and an exhaust as well. I'd I'd trying to snag an he351 and some helper bags for sure

@@owenpullen6356 a good start is fuel pin, gov spring, bump the timing, turn the fuel screw to 1/4 turn from runaway and all that alone should be enough to kill a trans
@@owenpullen6356 yeah if is an auto trans (727 or A518) it won't handle much. Pump mods that are stated will get you a ways then id do turbo then injectors, without the pump mods turbo and injectors will be pointless.
Tint is a must! It makes it more comfortable and looks good!

I did the Borgeson steering shaft too it definitely helped a ton. Also if its a 2wd do Moog 7226S front coils.

Big fan of the 1st Gen movement!

Well thank you sir I really appreciate that! I'm trying to get better infront of a camera!
I’d do crossover steering. From what I hear it’s awesome I installed it but can’t test because it’s winter here
I agree! Great upgrade!

Nice I have 1988 1st gen 4x4 myself

Well a first gen is powered by a VE injection pump. The VE record right now is 598 and only 4 people are over 500 so what your asking is a lot
Gavin Huke ohh so what are somethings that I could do to make it a little bit more powerful then
@@owenpullen6356 a good start is fuel pin, gov spring, bump the timing, turn the fuel screw to 1/4 turn from runaway and all that alone should be enough to kill a trans
Gavin Huke thanks for the help and I think I’m doing a turbo and injectors probably going to build the transmission
