Heath (& Cedar), I am so glad you finally have a truck which you are so happy with. I think the ‘Young Heath’ in you must be dancing and singing along. You’ve waited years for this to happen, CONGRATS 🥳 on getting a bit of what you want. You’ve worked so hard for so long on the house, getting everything so perfectly finished, now a little of that for you. That is wonderful.
Go for your drives snd enjoy what you have ‘yearned’ for, for so long.
God Bless you all and take time o relax and enjoy your rewards.
    All my love, Ellen. D.

Nothing better than an old reliable diesel truck. Might be a good idea to mount one or two underbody toolboxes on the flatbed, I have a skirted flatbed with integrated boxes on my truck and not having to climb up onto the bed for tie downs and miscellaneous tools is a game changer! Love the videos as always!

Simplicity in design and the engines accessible. That's one of the reasons I went with my 2003 3500 Cummins. I'm actually getting ~22 mpg in and around the city. The engine and 5-speed transmission have been awesome, but the dash looks like a jigsaw puzzle. LMC replacement dash is in her future. I should roll up and past 150,000 miles in the coming week. Really enjoying the truck content as a change of pace from the house, but looking forward to the start of the goat hotel. Hope you have a little more time for firewood collection before the full winter kicks in.

Regarding chickens, I just saw the coolest thing. Apparently pumpkin is very good for chickens. These people had hung their pumpkin up in their chicken barn so it hung about 6 inches off the floor. The chickens peck at it and it will gradually disappear because they love it. I'm not sure, but I think they cut the hard peel off in a couple of places, maybe to get them started. I just thought it was a cool idea, but I don't have the ability to raise chickens so have to live vicariously through others.

Heath love the first gen, I used to work for a salvage yard even many years ago. Are flatbed truck had a diesel tank on it like yours only difference was just we cut a hole in the bed. And drop the diesel tank into the bed and let it sit on the frame of the truck, and then we put the tool box on top it gave us a better view out the back, work out pretty good. Just a suggestion.

I enjoy your view point regarding that truck. I have a 1991 First Gen Cummins and it drives me crazy to see people going nuts on horse power. This is one of the most innovative trucks ever produced. It was designed for it's time and does very well what it was designed to do.

Egg production is more closely tied to hours of light in a day. You can increase their productivity by adding light in the coop. Some people prefer to let their chickens go through that natural decrease. Personally I have timers and whole production still decreases it isn’t as drastic

Good to hear there is the probability of a winter building project with the barn. Nothing personal, but being the widow of a mechanic (35 years together), my eyes just glaze over when there's wrenching going on... but I love the building. And Cedar projects, too. But carry on, it's all good for somebody who's watching! :D

When my diesel machines run out of fuel, to bleed the air from the lines, I cover the turbo air inlet while cranking the engine. This creates a vacuum and sucks the fuel and air in and starts the engine. Just thought I’d pass that on. Great show.

It is a pleasure to hear you talk Cummins diesel. I understand your interest in Gen One. When I was selling Rams, yes a gal selling trucks, often I would get phone calls from cattle ranchers looking for exactly what you have there to use as feed trucks. Put it in granny low and let it idle while tossing bales off the back. In 2003 when the quieter 24 valve came out many people came in because the wife hated the noise of the older Cummins. No emissions issues on yours either! Proud of your choice Heath!

If something ever happens to that 2021 truck there is no hope of me fixing anything major likely. Having a few simple vehicles around would be real peace of mind. PS keep adding in some kitchen preservation videos. Not just processing but perhaps planning as well. How much to plant to end up with certain amount of preserved items. Etc. I can wild game and fish as well. I never hear you talk about hunting much but you likely have abundance of game around you!

On your Cummins motor there's a hand pump on your motor check it and make sure that the pump does not leak fuel out around the pump handle when you prime it and also there check valves inside the hand pump if the check valves are not doing what they're supposed to do you will get fuel to drain back to the fuel tank

Personally I would check your injectors and make sure you have the correct injector pattern. I watched the video on what injectors they gave you and they sold you 155 degree injectors but your truck uses 145 degree pistons. This will make your truck smoke more and idle hazy. This is a common mistake because in 1991.5 they switched injection pumps, injectors and pistons because of emissions. They also added an intercooler to keep the power the same. I have a 1991 w250 with the old style pump, injectors and pistons. I would personally get 145 degree injectors for your 145 degree pistons bowls to keep the motor healthy and increase efficiency of combustion.

@@BillyBob-xd8qj I would’ve seen him in court for that because that’s ridiculous on a pick up truck I understand the big trucks need them but pick up trucks have fenders over the tires where Tractor Trailers don’t

If you freeze your tomatoes then thaw them, the skins and stempart fall right out. When I harvest I just wash them in a bin with holes in it and then drop it in my chest freezer for couple days. a loy less time over stove and honestly way easier

Does the lemon juice keep any canned fruit or vegetable from “browning”? I canned peaches…they taste good, but aren’t that pretty peach color🧐

The lemon juice is to lower the ph. Acidity is important in canning processing and safety. It also prevents browning in many foods.

The more fuel you give it the more you have to back off the timing of the injection pump to lower the idle, good running truck

Not on a VE pump. There is literally a idle screw that controls idle on his truck. In fact, a little more timing would be good for his truck.

Does the Hulset turbo with named plate come with a lifetime repair/replacement guarantee?
A fine heirloom plaque added to a decent looking turbo!
