Yeah man, it's no doubt these trucks are getting harder to find. Only 5 years made with a diesel and the youngest one are almost 30! The holy grails are turning into unicorns. You only hear of them... never see them. Truck looks good by the way.
I found a what they call a barn find , 1992 D-250 with 180000km. 12 valve cummins. One owner, towed his camper to the lake and back and sat every winter. Zero rust. I’m about to dually swap it. Only crappy thing is it’s a 2 wheel drive automatic
Later half of 91 was intercooled early half was not intercooled...also the vin tag is mounted to the dash, not the firewall, so that should stay with the cab .. here in Nebraska they need to do an inspection for all out of state vehicles and if that vin is missing or wrong then the title is worthless and they could destroy the vehicle because of it...
No, no, no. When I bought my 1990 1st Gen over a decade ago, it actually had a factory-fit Banks intercooler installed! Even Banks forgot that they made them back then. The pipe was 2.5 inch, with the internally squared intake horn facing forward. I modernized the piping with a Pusher 3" 1994-1998 intake horn (Had to modify the throttle bracket with a semi-circular cut from a machine shop), along with 3" pipe, 2.5" to 3" couplers, and a silicone 2" turbo to 3 inch 90 degree elbow. I left the original Banks intercooler in it because there was nothing actually wrong with it and ... It's Banks.
@@keeprtuned No. I can send photos of the original setup, if you like (I took before-and-after photos of my work). The intake horn was ridiculous by modern standards. A squared two inch by two inch opening.
I know of one specific factory thing to look for in 1st gens that makes them very cheap because nobody wants em, but I ain giving away my secrets, but I will hint it. Nobody wants it, but for no good reason. It's a legendary piece in it's own right. if you know, you know. But theres a few things that are common knowledge: 350's are always cheaper. single cabs are always cheaper. RWD (D instead of W model) are usually cheaper.
@@keeprtuned Figure I'll just say it. It's trucks with the Torqueflite 727 3 speed. Nobody wants them because they're slow, and they are, but they're an old reliable transmission. Mines at over 250k stock behind a 91 D350 single cab.
My son has the exact same hat. 😂 He practically sleeps in that hat. He and I are rebuilding this old ramcharger that was Non IC 1st gen swapped way back in the day.
You are right that the intercooler increases the density and how that happens is from hot air flowing through the intercooler and the air then cools down. Cooler air is more dense and therefore allows more air to be fired in each cylinder. Since the air is cooled off by the intercooler it helps to lower egt’s. Welcome to the channel
Yeah man. Use a wrench on the nut right below it if it’s a factory handle and she’ll twist off. If it’s an aftermarket one it might just twist without a nut there at the bottom
89 and 90 only!!!!! They are incredibly easy to install intercooler, 3gen cooling system works great and they are by far the best looking! Chrysler messed up the look on 91 to 93s
Oh really i never would have figured out that i should look for the truck that fits my need ? 4x4, extended cab ? So many decisions, holy cow i never would have known i need to figure this stuff out !!!!

Absolutely! They are good looking fun trucks!
Unicorns are a species.
Holy grail was one cup.
Yer backwards

@@Itdontmatter69 they are still good trucks!!
91 had both Non IC and IC. That’s why some folks say 91.5
Good catch!

The vin is on 3 places. The dash, the drivers side door well, and the firewall by the passenger side wiper cowl. It’s a metal vin tag riveted on

Appreciate the info! Very cool. You happen to still have the banks intake horn?

@@erwin643 I know what they look like. The intercooler was 50% larger than the stock one. Pretty cool.
@@keeprtuned Hope it wasn't a collectible item, or something. No one was interested in buying the original Banks stuff that I took off.
@erwin643 yeah, the intake horn alone is worth 500. It’s very collectible actually.
I have the roof , above Windshield rust .
Tough to fix and stop rust spreading.
Good job on video .
That it is! Thank you sir

Thank you for this. A 1st gen is my next find after I finish my 86 dodgeram charger.

Let’s goooooo!!!

Awesome! It’s a good hat! 😂 Ramchargers are cool! Good luck with the build!
Awsome video. Good information.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Intercoolers don’t cool off a motor. They increase the air density to the intake. Are you just making stuff up as you go ? Lol

The do both. A cooler intake charge makes a cooler engine.
I’m looking at one for 1500. It’s pretty beat though and been sitting.
I just inherited a 92 12-valve automatic le with only 92500 miles from my grandfather thank you for the video
This is a very good , interesting and informative video. Thank you for taking time and effort to make it. American Iron all the way!
Thanks you for the support!
Does the shifter knob twist off? Looking at changing mine and saw yours was changed.

hey do u have some of those parts for sale ? im interested on the grill and front bumper
I do have a ton of parts for sale but I don’t have a grill or front bumper available at this time
