Glad that everyone was able to get out in time, and that there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident, that fire was really blowing out that upper middle window.
Making its way across the roof.
Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.

They have to make sure they get everyone out before they start water, as a expert in this field they are spraying a 2 1/2 hose at 200-250psi. That knocks a person to the ground and knocks the damaged debris everywhere which could injure or kill a person. Nice vid joshfire!

Is that SOP, a 2 1/2 for a residential fire ? Usually it’s an 1 3/4 for residential and 2 1/2 for commercial here in NY

Had they hit the venting fire right from the start from outside the outcome would have been very different. Shame they let the place burn down.

everyone is a armchair chief , wasn't there ,do not have all the debrief so I'll keep my opinion to myself. I will say this: the Detroit fire department has a huge moral problem and anyone paying attention knows why.

Detroit FD is getting tired of Highland Park using DFD fire resources and tax dollars while not providing their own fire protect. There is a balance with mutual aid and if not careful a city or jurisdiction that is too tight to adequately fund their own public safety and essentially sponge off of other fire department generosity. Think about it there are DFD tax-paying citizens who's fire protection resources are out of service when providing services to another city! Don't blame DFD, blame Highland Park political leaders!!!

There's news articles going out now that Detroit Fire Crews were ordered to packed up and leave the scene before full extinguishment, causing Highland Park and Hamtramck suburb crews to handle the fire on their own, during the period of time between Detroit Crews Leaving, and Suburban crews entering the structure, it gave enough time for the fire to free burn and go out of control again.
