Bullied by the British - A Colored Pencils Story

- For the reasons I go into in this video, I haven't used a colored pencil since I was about 9-10 back in the late '60s/early /'70s (yes, I'm that f-ing old), and recently I have heard a number of other arts/crafts folks rave about colored watercolor pencils, soooo I finally decided it was time to put my traumatic childhood experience behind me and once again pick up some colored pencils. To my absolute amazement, I actually had a lot of fun doing this! Probably because I wasn't being teased, humiliated, and bullied by a bunch of snotty Brit brats (kidding!!!). But this was a lot of fun, and I'm glad I caved in and tried it. Another huge thank you to Anthony Crammen for a comment he made awhile back that convinced me. The nuns in my school laughed and laughed and laughed.

Those childhood “traumas” so to speak, do stick with you! If it’s any consolation, if it were today, the girls might have shanked you for poor coloring form 😂😂😂😂. BTW, I was HORRID at coloring, drawing, any of that stuff, that’s why I never did any “art” until just a few years ago.
LOL! I'd hope that there wouldn't have been any shanking in a convent, but I guess these days you never know 🤣🤣
I think watercolors in particular should be spread and kinda messy personally isn't that the whole point? Not sure what the good gone will do with the pen 🤔 I've used it with all colored pencils even cheap old Crayola for blending...

All these years later and "those" girls are still remembered for what they said. There's a name for them, and I know you know what name I'm thinking of. I was about the same age, 12 or 13, and had a bit of acne on my forehead that "those" same kind of girls made fun of me for. So I got bangs to cover my forehead. To this very day, I have bangs and I am completely paranoid and fastidious about them being absolutely perfect. My forehead hasn't seen the light of day in over 40 years! Girls are so mean. 😈
Oh, they are!!! I know boys can be bullies, too, but there's something sharper about the nastiness teen girls can produce.

It's art my kids do coloring different then I do. So who cares if anyone does it wrong or right . I'm just being honest with my opinion. I like different really having something that "others think isn't the right color "

I wonder how it would turn out if you colored the picture with the pencils and then lightly misted some water on it.
Good question!! That’s definitely what I would do with Brusho crystals, but never thought about trying that the pencils! Thanks for the idea!!
