In November 2021, Dr. Peterson traveled to the United Kingdom to give a series of lectures at Oxford and Cambridge. This lecture was given at Lady Mitchell Hall at the University of Cambridge on November 23rd, 2021.
Dr. Peterson gives an in-depth exploration of the problem of perception. In doing so, he touches on orienting reflexes, artificial intelligence, the infinite possibilities parsed by perception, neurophysiology, postmodernism, and the relationship between imitation, awe, and the divine, before answering questions from the audience about the direction of Western civilization, meaning, and the notion of humans as simple biological machines.

He only says things he knows to be true. Like, just watch him pause when he tries to formulate answers to complex questions. He'll sit there silently until he knows exactly what he wants to say, and it's never hateful. People are ridiculous sometimes.

As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't feel or was able to form that connection when I'm with a a lot of people. You can certainly see it to be the case in Dr. Jordan. You are not reading between the lines of what was actually written; you are inventing between the lines. I've noticed you are prone to doing that. @@robertholland7558 Robert, I simply meant that you inferred from what Susie Smith said that somehow she felt that the people who had not heard JP's valuable insights were less valuable as persons. Nothing in her words suggested that she felt that way or "implied" that she felt those people were less valuable, but rather you deduced or "inferred" that she meant that when there was no verbal evidence in what she said that she felt that way. People nowadays are too quick to jump to conclusions about what others are thinking or saying, and then they criticize or negatively react to what they themselves have made up in their minds rather than dealing with the reality of what was actually said or what actually took place. In fact, Susie was simply lamenting that many people who are unable to hear JP thus have not had the benefit of Jordan's wisdom, and she sympathized or empathized with them for missing out on the good opportunity. She said nothing about their being lesser persons for not having heard his insights. Being too quick to infer without reading or listening carefully causes breakdown in communication and complicates relationships to our detriment as a society.
There is a difference in being a person who does not blindly accept everything presented, which is a positive attribute, and being a person who twists what is being said and then questions the thing that he has invented or wrongly interpreted. You should not hold someone accountable for something he or she actually did not say.
      Regards!

@@robertholland7558 With all due respect to you and in all fairness to Suzie, she did not say that hearing JP made people better or more valuable, and thus those who did not hear him are "of lesser, or at least different value" as you have inferred from her comment. The only judgement she made were about his insights, that they were valuable, and she simply remarked that people who hadn't heard him were missing insights that might be helpful to them, just as many, many people have testified to the valuable and life-affirming insights they have received from his lectures and lessons. Who would begrudge needy people receiving help from any source?
One could make the argument you are trying to make about any number of things. For example, using your logic if some people benefit from an education that makes their lives better, of more valuable advantage to them, thus by implication those who do not have an education are "of lesser or at least different, value" to quote you. So by implication, you could be interpreted to be saying then no one should be then educated because it reflects badly on others who cannot have this education. I don't believe you are really meaning to make that argument, but you appear to be making it to anyone following your logic. Like so, Suzi is not making the argument you say she is making.
Regarding questioning the benefit some might receive or the "godlike status" in your opinion you suggest that some people give JP, you might consider this: If you had ever been in some of the bad positions or dire circumstances that some of his followers have found themselves in, and someone came along who reached down and offered them a hand, a way to get out of the pit they were in, and gave them insights that helped them find purpose and meaning which they had not been able to find for themselves, you might understand how these people would be so grateful for the life changes they were now able to make that they might actually feel that an almost supernatural thing had happened for them...practically a miracle! Be glad for those people! They will be more of a blessing to others around them than they would have before, and that's a good thing, a very good thing.

What he's doing adds more value to society as a whole, and has far further reachings effects, than do the services of any individual lawyer or doctor, typically. He's helping a lot of people to think rationally and think in terms of meaning and truth, which is more than anyone in Hollywood, or pro sports, or the music industry are doing despite making far more money than Peterson. Nearly everyone in those categories tear society down, but Peterson is helping build people up. That's worth more than money, so it's really nothing that he makes a lot of it. And he works far harder than you or I probably do, so maybe people in our positions shouldn't be quick to say he shouldn't make as much as he does.

In an interview in December 2018 with Martin Weill, Peterson claimed he was earning $80,000 per month on Patreon, he also said he was selling 20.000 books a week with royalties of $1.50 per book, his tours were $35,000 to $50,000 per evening. He also said he had a business that was generating $200.000 per month and additional sources of lower income.
I am totally mind blown that you thought he was doing this for free. I'm struggling to work out how you can think he is doing this for free.

@@robertholland7558 How is it possible that if someone does work and produces things which people willingly buy, the income he earns from his labor is unreasonable? Should he give what he's doing away? If so, at what point should he start giving away his work? And who determines that? Are the worthy of determining that? And what is the incentive to keep producing, and producing at such levels of quality if he can't make money doing what he's doing? The possibility for limitless income should be an incentive for anyone, but you seem to see it as morally wrong unless I'm misunderstanding you. Moreover, you seem to be missing the fact that such possibilities can act as fuel for competition which helps keep anyone from gaining all of any market. Competition which is hindered only by ignorance and rhetoric that doesn't reflect reality. Peterson is selling books and merchandise to willing customers. He's not holding a gun to people's heads and making them buy his goods. He's not forcing them to buy tickets to his lectures. But somehow he shouldn't be making the money he does? And it's a false comparison to liken Peterson to Jesus. Even Jesus said he came for completely different reasons than to make a living in the world. Peterson main goal isn't exactly to make a living, but he might as well make one while he does what he's doing. Nothing in your argument, as far as I can tell, justifies your stance on why he shouldn't have the money he does.
As far as the reach of his work, I think you're overlooking what he's actually doing. No, most people on earth don't hear his lectures or even know who he his. But far more people know who he is and what he's saying than do you or I. On his own he's highly influential to hundreds of thousands of people. And many people he influences are influential to many many more people. So, yes, his reach is vast. What do you think of the old saying "The pen is mightier than the sword"?
Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but your claims don't appear to stand up on closer inspection.

@@robertholland7558 You place yourself in a mighty high position to be dictating how much a person should and should not be making. That's an exceedingly dangerous place to be. And history shows again and again that it doesn't work out for the good of society. Free market economy brought more people out of poverty than any other system, and free market includes limitless potential for growth. And that should make you happy, as it's the free market that enables you to sit there with your red wine and conveniently ignore important conversations like someone richer than 90% of the population on earth. Which seems really hypothetical when you think about it.

I hope every single person appreciates Jordan Peterson attending after the disgraceful way our top universities have tried to cancel him.
This by no way tarnishes Jordan Peterson, it tarnishes our once great universities and those they hire, who no longer teach complexities and the art of discussion and debate.
Too many appointed lecturers do not have the ability to teach any given subject should it veer from the parrot fashion reciting, and no longer, learning/teaching inviting debate.
Our once great establishments of learning have drifted off course, they've become banal and working to achievements of the lowest common denominator as opposed to wanting to stretch students minds to the fullest extent.
I was never able to attend university, therefore I am furious that those attending today are being cheated out of a full and open education system, they are leaving university with no arguments, they cannot debate their subjects, and when caught in a snare with a question their tutors had not anticipated, the students fall apart and behave like attack dogs to deflect from their own lack of knowledge.
Freedom of speech should be the number one human right for every man, woman and child.
We do *not* learn through censorship.
