@@redrum6316 I like Bale the most for live action (and his very grounded, non-super powered world) but DCAU Batman is the benchmark of which all other Batman adaptations are measured. Conroy played various incarnations of Batman for 30 years (with that DCAU version being about half of that) and gave the part so much depth (helped by the writers obviously) somehow even expressing heartfelt emotion even in his grumpiest Bat-voice (such as the scene above where he comforts the young Ace, in her final moments, by that point the chirpier Bruce Wayne of the early years of BTAS had pretty much gone) . :O He's great to watch in interviews too. Especially the one he did as part of Michael Rosenbaum's (Flash in the DCAU, Lex Luthor in Smallville) podcast series 'Inside Of You'. Well worth watching that. :) Everyone has their own personal fave live action Batman and you'll see arguments about which one is better, Bale this, Affleck that, Keaton, Pattinson, West etc. But almost every Bat-fan tends to agree Kevin Conroy's is the voice they hear when they read Batman comics. :)
@@redrum6316 That was only for live action contest atleast the time when he played the character, but real ones knew RIP Kevin Conroy voicing Bruce was amazing!!!
Kevin loved Batman more than anyone in this world , his short pride story about how he ended up getting the role makes me so emotional. He deserved the world , was an amazing human being and great actor. It saddens me the most that whenever i play the games again or watch the shows , i would be listening to a man that is no longer among us
Ace's death in JLU I think it one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, Batman's moments. The story telling, the voice acting from both Kevin and Hynden Walch, and just how the writers got Batman and used his background in a way that they knew would fele natural and allow one of the most powerful telepaths in the DCU to let him get close like that. It always makes me tear up.
Through all the animated versions as well as the video games, he made Batman real and alive...that stamp of validity. We are so fortunate to have this high-watermark representation to point to for all of time. It will not and cannot be done better.
RIP legend. You have done so much to make the character feel real. Even in third-rate shows. Your voice was one of the strongest sides of the Arkham Series. You and Mark Hamil made my childhood. Thank you.
As much as we all miss Kevin Conroy, he wouldn't want us to break reality to bring him back. Batman wouldn't do that, and we must live up to that ideal.
People often mistake greatest Batman for their favorite Batman. Some will claim Keaton was the best, or Bale. And if course there is always the unforgettable Adam West. They were all great Batman. And probably the favorite of many. But the greatest? There is just a time when someone completely embodies the role. Conroy wasn't just the greatest Batman . He WAS Batman. Iconic, relatable, every superlative imaginable. He just owned the character. You can have a different favorite versions, that's subjective and understandable. But Conroy is the very definition of Batman. He just was the perfect voice, tone, attitude, flair. He just knew who Batman is and he made him real. A legend. Rip. Batman , Kevin Conroy.
It's not easy when an icon dies. It's hard because deep down we know it's the end of an age. Because we've grown so accustomed to Kevin Conroy as the definitive voice of Batman that it'll be hard to accept anyone else in the booth. But as much as we don't want to dwell on death, we need to remember that no one's immortal. Tim Daly, Susan Eisenberg, Michael Rosenbaum, Carl Lumbly, it'll happen to them too. Loss is always hard. Kevin Conroy was ideal for Batman even before I read his pride story, and as I said above, his will be difficult if not impossible shoes to fill. Like so many of you, I grew up with him as my Batman. But it's good to know that we're all feeling this loss together.
My favorite scene with him was in the animated World’s Finest Movie in which Batman & Superman have just defeated Joker, Harley and Luthor, Batman has just gotten into his Batplane and is ready to take off, Superman is ready to fly off and Superman says with a smile; “You know, maybe this ‘team up’ thing isn’t such a bad idea after all.” 😊 Batman DOESN’T smile and stares down from his plane at Superman coldly and expressionlessly, 😑 “Yeah, Right.” And then takes off without another word. Godspeed Kevin
I'm sad to hear he's gone and so suddenly and that I will never see another Batman like him. His voice was just perfect. Absolutely perfect. I am so sad.
He was, and always will be, my Batman. He loved the role so much, and made it his own. R.I.P, Mr Conroy, and thank you. (As of writing this I am currently watching Batman: The Animated Series Blu Ray box set as a mark of respect)
I love the tribute, and Kevin will be missed dearly. And I really don't mean to be rude, just informative. He died on the 10th of November, not the 12th
I've never seen an actor show so much love for a role that practically typecasted them, in every interview or convention Kevin went to, up until his death, he shows nothing but love for Batman. What a legend, RIP sweet prince.
He was the voice of a great character, a _man_ of great character, and an amazing Human Being. Kevin Conroy, Michael Keaton, Adam West... they *made* Batman for me. We shall never be lucky enough to know his like again. Rest well, Dark Knight. Know your journey will continue to inspire us all to be heroes.
The Bat signal goes dark as the Knightfall protocol has been activated. Kevin Conroy is the Batman and Bruce Wayne he embodyed all aspects of these complex characters. He was one of my childhood heroes along side greats such as Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime). RIP Kevin "Batman" Conroy The world is going to miss you.
It was the 10th; his death was made public on the 12th but had been withheld for a couple of days… All that said, yet another meaningful tribute to the wonderful Mr. Conroy. Even for those who never met him, Kevin will be dearly missed.
Been watching these tributes lately because I didn't believe at first that Kevin had passed. If there is an afterlife, Kevin is there with Mr..West, the /batman I grew up with ( though I still consider Kevin as THE Batman)
I grew up with Kevin as Batman as well (mostly as my animated Batman), and he was so good that years later, I watched all of the DCAU and loved every minute of it. I adore Kevin for the passion and the emotion he brought to the role of Batman and Bruce Wayne. Even a week after his death, I miss him dearly. Others may do their best to play Batman, and some may come close, like Troy Baker and Bruce Greenwood, but none will ever top Kevin, who is in my opinion (as well as several others'), THE Batman. Of all of Batman's scenes from the DCAU, though, I absolutely love his scene with Ace, mostly because it's so emotional and he doesn't do anything to her. He just sits next to her and comforts her in her final moments. And that is who Batman is at his heart (to all of us): a person who won't hurt you, but will do what he can to comfort and help you.
Thank you for the video. I heard about his passing when it happened 4 days ago. Been pretty sad ever since. Seeing these clips brings a bit of joy back. It's a wonderful tribute. The world is a darker place now that Batman is gone
The scene where he sat with Ace until her death is so tragic and sad and then the next scene is "I'm proud of you, Dick." I honestly went from tears to laughing my ass off and i am sorry, but "I'm proud of you, Dick" out of context just sounds so wrong and yet so hilarious. I also want to use this comment and quote two other voiced lines from Halo 3, because i find them very fitting for Conroy's passing: "Hard to believe he's dead..." "Were it so easy..." He isn't really gone. He never will be. He will always be there. I was born 1992, i also grew up with BTAS as one of my favorite shows, even though i listened to his german voice actor, i later found out about Conroy and how he was basically THE voice of nearly all animated Batman variations, plus the Arkham games AND also in live action. He really *IS* vengeance. The Night. Batman. Always.
The animated versions of Batman were the realest Batman. He was awesome.
Exactly. Anyone that says Bale is the best Batman clearly has not seen the animated series
