- Tribute to the remarkable Kevin Conroy - My Favorite Batman.
I highly recommend you watch Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - the Animated Movie. Probably one iof my fave Batman films ever made.

Kevin Conroy (November 30, 1955 - November 10, 2022) was an American actor. He was best known as the voice behind the DC Comics superhero Batman in various media, beginning with the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series and its subsequent spin-off TV series and feature films in the DC Animated Universe.
Due to the popularity of his performance as Batman, Conroy went on to voice the character for multiple films under the DC Universe Animated Original Movies banner and the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham and Injustice video games.
After years of theatre. Conroy started his television career in the 1985 TV movie Covenant and had a role on another daytime soap drama, Search for Tomorrow. Conroy played gay lawyer Bart Fallmont on Dynasty from 1985 to 1986.[7] He was a series regular on Ohara in 1987, and as the company commander on Tour of Duty from 1987 to 1988, before starring in a series of television movies. Though initially cast as one of the show's main characters, his role on the show was reduced while it filmed in Hawaii and he ended up spending much of his time doing portraits of tourists on the Honolulu boardwalk. Conroy also guest starred on shows such as Cheers, Search for Tomorrow, Matlock and Murphy Brown.
As a voice actor, Conroy is best known for his starring role as Bruce Wayne / Batman in the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995).[9][10] He continued to voice Batman in numerous animated spin off projects, which collectively took place in what is known as the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). These spin-offs include the TV shows The New Batman Adventures (1997-1999), Batman Beyond (1999-2001, in which he portrays an elderly Bruce Wayne retired from crimefighting), Justice League (2001-2004), and Justice League Unlimited (2004-2006), as well as the theatrical film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993),[11][12] and the direct-to-video films Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998), Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000), and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003). He also voiced Batman for the character's guest appearances in the DCAU's Superman: The Animated Series, Static Shock and The Zeta Project.
Conroy was gay. As part of DC Comics' 2022 Pride anthology, Conroy wrote "Finding Batman", a story that recounted his life and experiences as a gay man. It received critical acclaim upon release.[24] He was married to Vaughn C. Williams at the time of his death.
Conroy died at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City from intestinal cancer on November 10, 2022, at the age of 66.
People who paid tribute to him included Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, Andrea Romano,
Clancy Brown, Paul Dini and James Gunn.

his death just hit me like a ton of fucking bricks today. all it took was one clip from the joker saying "its just not the same without batman around". Thank you for my childhood Kevin. My first favorite actor ever. ill never forget the first time i watched batman. Mask of the phantasm was my gateway into Kevin's world. All the way up until the latest films he did, i was his biggest fan. what hurts the most is that we will never hear him voice bruce again. all i ask, is that the WB respect his legacy and dont pull a disney with his voice. let him rest, he deserves it. Rest well Kevin. Have a drink with Stan and Robbie for me.

I’ll always hear Kevin’s voice in my head when I’m reading a Batman comic book. While there have been many people to play Batman, none had claim to the title of Batman like Conroy, he IS Batman.

I'm 42 and I remember coming home from school and watching the premier of Batman the animated series and let me tell you I was like OMG this is so freaking cool everything about it was so extraordinary it's edged in my heart and mind the very best Batman animated series ever and when I hear that voice when ever I think of how batman would really sound like there just no doubt in my mind it's Kevin Conroy! He was is and always will be BATMAN !!!!! I will definitely miss him and my condolences to the whole family. Rest easy Bruce 😢

@@Toonhead Conroy is the life n soul of BATMAN. I hope they'll be others to pick up the torch and continue his legacy. But like Michael Ironside is the talent powercore of Sam Fisher so too is Kevin Conroy to Batman. LEGENDS!
His legacy will live on as long as Batman as a mythos. He was an integral staple of the character.
Hearing Kevin Conroy read the speech from The Dark Knight gave me absolute chills.
Goodbye to the voice of not only the Batman, of Bruce Wayne, but the voice of our childhoods, the voice of a symbol, but most of all, goodbye to a legend. Rest in peace as our hero Kevin Conroy. You gave us all so much.
This is the first time since Kobe and Robin Williams that I cried over a celebrity. I would watch the Batman shows back when I was suicidal and depressed growing up and his voice just fit Batman so well. He brought me happiness when it was hard to fin it

When people talk about who the best Batman was, I can't help but think of Kevin Conroy as well as the disappointment I feel for people who have no reference for who he is or how he made Batman animations legendary. The subtle shift in tone between when he voices Bruce Wayne as opposed to Batman has always amazed me by how insanely similar, yet how unique they are from the other. Over all celebrity deaths I've experienced over my 38 years, I was surprised to see how strangely hard this one struck.
A one of a kind character/voice actor combination that immortalized both. I over criticize every voice actor and actor that has played Batman literally because they aren't Kevin Conroy.
You gave so much…… and yet ….. had so much more to give…….you left us too early Mr.Conroy. We love ❤️ you…we are going to miss you. The world is a lesser place now that your gone …what we have left beside the work you left behind….is the love you left us….a true hero in more ways then one. I was unsure whether to use the clip shown as its the best scene in film yet he doesn't speak.

What I loved about Conroy's Batman is that he distinguished Bruce Wayne from Batman. Batman's voice was deeper and fierce. Bruce's voice was more cheerful even for him.

Without this voice, my Batman love wouldn't have started. I watched Mask of Phantasm in 1998 and I was hooked.
I bought the score before I saw the movie! I had Hmv import it in, in 1994, because I couldn't wait to see it - eventually got a copy of a mate as it took ages before being dropped on VHS late end of that year.

The world of Batman will never be the same. Five years ago we lost the very first man to ever portray Batman, Adam West. Now we have lost another legendary titan to the cape and cowl. I think a good way to remember both would be to watch the old animated series episode "Beware the Grey Ghost" as it had both great men together.
Bruce: *I used to watch you with my father. The Grey Ghost was my Hero.*
It's not true that Adam West was the first actor to play Batman. before him were the completely forgotten Lewis Wilson and Robert Lowery in 1943 and 1949
Just when I thought I could not hate cancer more than I already do...
In early 2020 just before the pandemic, I lost my dad to cancer... he was 63.
Now two and a half years later, we lost a man who defined a lot of childhoods voicing an iconic character, including mine to cancer... Kevin Conroy was 66 leaving behind his partner, Vaughn.
I was devastated when I saw it was true, I honestly needed to let it sink in that someone as amazing as him is now gone forever.
I had to absolute honor meeting Kevin at NYCC in 2014. I'll never forget seeing him come out and was excited as much as the fans were. He got up on the table and shouted his iconic line: I am vengeance, I am the night, I AM BATMAN! It gave me chills and I realized how truly passionate Kevin was about this character and after all these years still kills it saying that! He was a kind gentleman who noticed how nervous I was meeting him but made sure I kept my cool and took a photo with me. I showed him a sketch I made when Bruce fought an alternate Batman in the episode from Batman: TAS, Perchance to Dream. He loved it so much, he told me I'm a great artist and signed it. I found it the other night in my closet and I hugged my sketchbook and cried. I promise to treasure that memory I have as long as I live. Rest in Peace, Kevin... you will always be the Batman I know and love forever.

This makes me sad, because despite all of the Batmen that had come and gone, Kevin Conroy was MY Batman. I was a 90s kid through and through, and my siblings and I would enjoy every morning when there was no school watching Batman: The Animated Series.

@@Moochtv He was a very humble and down to earth guy. We chatted for about 10 minutes at his booth. I had a VIP Pass so I didn't have to worry about holding up the line. It was a shock that he died at such a young age. I myself just turned 60 on Saturday.
Life's a lottery I'm afraid. You'll out live me. But I'm sure you'll keep busy like Mr Conroy did, if not more

I remember taking Batman TAS with me on my first Naval deployment to the Mediterranean in the late 90s. Even my fellow sailors who weren’t comic book fans loved it. One guy asked who played the voice because he made Batman come to life. That’s what Kevin did he gave Batman a voice fitting of the character. May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his family. 👍🏾🇺🇸

As a 43 year old myself I remembered when I used to come home from school to watch Batman The Animated Series on FOX. Kevin Conroy was the epitome of a voice actor because he could literally bring the Dark Knight's character to life whenever I read the comics. He was a soundtrack to my childhood in the 90s.

Had the pleasure of meeting Kevin at a con. I had made a Groot suit for my teenage son. He was amazed at the quality. Told me how awesome Groot looked. Asked me if I did prop making professionally.

ALL people agree, Kevin was the definitive voice of Batman. Kevin Conroy IS Batman!
He left behind some really big shoes that's nearly impossible to fill. I would even go as far as saying that he replaced Adam West as the face and voice of Batman.
No other actor portrayed the Dark Knight better than Conroy. I am saddened to learn of his passing. He will be sorely missed.

I had the honor in meeting Kevin in 2017. I was speechless because i grew up with his voice (as Batman). But he is so down to earth and so incredibly nice. Definity was one of the best moments of my life. RIP Kevin, Forever the voice of Batman.

And a good chunk of them died in their 50s and 60s for some reason.
Don't forget, Bob Saget in the beginning of this year.
A shame I didn't get chance to do a proper tribute for Saget and Norm.

RIP Kevin conroy he will always be the definitive batman. The animated series and the mask of the phantasm and batman beyond and the new batman adventures justice league and justice unlimited and the Arkham games series will always be iconic.
This brings me to tears. I'm glad I own nearly all of his work through cartoons and video games. He will forever be the best batman to me.
