    tip remove air with the valve in the 12 o'clock after giving the sealant a moment to settle to help avoid clogging and wasting sealant.

      @@gmbntech hello I am total newbie to the tubeless world. Got my MTN bike thinking it came with tubes (tubeless ready), and this video helped some. Just curious how often I should add sealant making the least mess possible. I've had the bike for about a year now and I've never added sealant so I'm guessing it's time to add some or check to see how everything looks inside?
      I have a trek xcaliber 9 2023 if that helps any. I got it as a gift from my parents as I cannot drive due to epilepsy, so this is my main form of transportation. Also ride some trails here and there. Thanks for any and all help. Nice video!!! Also I know nothing about tape inside tires 🤦

    over time there is dry sealant build up around tire edge. it can make it tricky to seal after reinstall. perhaps you could make a video about how to remove old sealant from the tire. That would be really helpful. ✌️

    • @stefanwagener
      @stefanwagener 2 роки тому +11

      Yes, I have noticed many videos explaining initial tubeless setup and also this refresh. But I haven't seen a video that explains when you should clean your tire from sealant and how and also questions like what to do when you don't use your bike over winter.

    • @tomasbrychta5684
      @tomasbrychta5684 Рік тому +5

      @@stefanwagener you can rub it with water and soap or light detergent (the same one as for you dishes) during the refresh if you want. Mostly the tires go worn out and leak through inner cracks of the tire and because of loss of elasticity - the become dry and cracky rather than soft and oily to touch before some serious sealant builds up on the edges.

    Although I could remove the valve core and fill it through there I believe it would clog up after a while. That why I remove the tyre of the rim halfway and I can also check the fluids level this way

    • @MrSupermugen
      @MrSupermugen 2 роки тому +8

      The danger of adding sealant before seating bead is the tyre exploding when trying to bead it.
      no matter how you add sealant the valve core will always get clogged up eventually... so why not do it the easier way in the first place lol

    • @gmbntech
      @gmbntech  2 роки тому

    Vittoria MTB Tubeless tyres can be seated easily with a regular floor pump. They are however a pain to mount onto your wheels. I'm also careful not to mix brands of sealants when I do a tubless refresh. Does it matter if sealant brands are mix together or am I just wasting my time?

    @AskGMBN what if any information do you have mixing sealant. Was on a trip and had a flat losing a lot of sealant. Couldn't find any of the brand I usually use (Muc Off) and had to use Stans. What if any problems should I expect and is there an ingredient that I could look for that would make one sealant work with another like a glycol base or something? Top tip also only use tire levers between the spokes that way if you nic the tape it won't be that catastrophic. Cheers!

  • @joseph-the-seventh
    @joseph-the-seventh Рік тому +1

    Hello GMBN Tech! If I check the insides of my tires and the sealant is still liquid, does that mean I can go ahead and seat the tire without adding any more sealant? Or is it good to add a bit more sealant as time goes by? I recently changed sealant brands to Muc Off and the instructions say to remove any old sealant before adding.

    • @gmbntech

    Not that easy to pop the tire back to the rim. Usually you cannot do it with the floor pump. Air will leak before the tire would pop into place. You will need a quick release of a good amount of air such as an air compressor or special air reservoir bottle. I bought one from Zipp and it never fails me.
